My Princess begins rehearsals

Earlier this week, star-studded rom-com My Princess held its first script reading, and I would’ve given my left foot to be a fly on the wall of that room. Because if it went the way I imagine, this drama is going to be one epic crash and burn.
Please, someone tell me who thought it’d be a good idea to have Kim Tae-hee (IRIS) and Song Seung-heon (East of Eden) deliver dialogue written by the most verbose of drama writers. Writer Kim Eun-sook (Secret Garden, On Air) is known for her “brand-name/designer dialogue” [명품 대사], which is characterized by fast-talking witty banter, delivered a mile a minute. It’s what you’d call delivery-dependent dialogue, because without good actors behind it, the writing feels deliberate, and labored. Imagine lesser actors behind the banter in Secret Garden. Characters like Joo-won who spit miles of vitriol but convey depth underneath the surface are not possible without the acting chops to back it up.
You see my concern with this drama?
I don’t dislike either actor, but I wouldn’t exactly want a pair of actors, known separately for their wooden acting…to join forces as the romantic leads for a drama laced with rapid-fire dialogue. ‘s all I’m sayin’.
I remember liking Song Seung-heon when he debuted. He was shiny and new. I will admit to being distracted by the pretty. But his acting ability has stayed exactly the same since then. To be fair, so has his face, so that’s good for him. Kim Tae-hee was a take-it -or-leave-it actor in IRIS, so I’m sure she’ll be serviceable here, but I’ve never seen her be gripping in anything.
Who knows? There might be a hidden gem in this drama and Kim and Song will pull out all the stops, making my jaw hit the floor.
But with a chaebol-meets-princess storyline to top it all off, that’s asking a lot, Show. You should know that I will be armed with much snark, come January.
My Princess also stars Park Ye-jin and Ryu Soo-young as the second leads, and will be premiering on MBC in January.

though i'm quite agree that both SSH & KTH were stiff in their past drama, but i really think we should give them a chance for rom com.
remember how Choi Jung Won was so famous for her beauty but wooden act? i still remember all the critics she get, when news about wish upon a star came out. and she did turn the table.
both ssh n kth never had any romcom script, and we never get to see their fun part. so this is their first time. wish both of them luck.

i really don't mind SSH...in fact i loved him in "he was cool"...
KTH on the other hand......I watched "love story in harvard" and "Iris" and yeah she maybe able to cry buckets but she lacks the right emotions to go along with it...her eyes are just expressionless...sighhhh...
yeah she may have the *star* quality...and get more leading roles in the near future but those good looks will soon fade and people will forget all about you....
however, great acting chops is what makes an ACTOR!
No doubt PYJ will outshine KTH just like what Kim So Yeon did in IRIS!
P.S.....loving the new haircut on PYJ! looks so badass!

very true, I saw 'Love story in Harvard' and I thought she lacked emotion, she had the same expression throughout the whole drama.

I’m not a huge fan of KTH nor SSH, But after IRIS I was a bit interested in KTH next project, so she will accompany with SSH, I haven't watched any of SSH's drama/movies, but it looks like he acts just because of his face not acting skills, Am I right ???
Based on their gesture (above pics), I think the second leads' roles must be more fascinating than the leads' !

Well...no matter what you say about having a negative vibed on this drama...i'll still gonna watch it...coz' the story seemed interesting and wants to see SSH and KTH together onscreen...

I thought I could make it through East of Eden because of SSH's looks but alas I did not make it past the first ep.
I hope this show has a lot of personality tho. and I do like park ye jin.

I'm actually looking forward to this.
I'm a big fan of SSH and I think he can def. pull this roll off. I'm not too sure about KTH, I'm not a really big fan of her but somehow I really think this pairing will be interesting :D. I personally am just excited to see all the A-lister do drama again!

Song Seung Heon, you really have a very handsome unique looks, your thick dark eyebrows and attractive eyes gives you the most greatest charm, to be so manly, tall in height, charismatic, dressing and walking with elegant style. An actor who is so brialliant and multi-talented always love and bless by the worldwide millions and millions surrroundings fans will give you the greatest support!!!!!!
