Jung Seok-won’s new movie and photo shoot

The real romance in Dr. Champ wasn’t a romance at all; it was a bromance, between the adorable pair of Olympic judo athletes, Ji-heon and Sang-bong, lifetime rivals and bestest friends. It probably didn’t hurt that they were also rivals in the hotness department, as is um…clearly evident. Jung Seok-won, former Seoul Action School stuntman and bit player is moving up in the world, with a photo spread and a new film due out next year.
The photo above makes me involuntarily fluttery. Also, I want that jacket. If he happened to come with said jacket, I wouldn’t complain. Just, you know, in case you were wondering what to get me for Christmas.
The sweater he’s wrestling below I don’t love as much, mostly because it’s being a big tease. That or it’s trying to eat him alive. Either way, I am firmly against it. The outfit below, on the other hand? Now that’s a man rockin’ skinny jeans. I mean, who knew?
His latest project is the action film The Beast, aptly named since Jung is the picture-perfect example of the beast-man trend. I would love it if that trend died down, not because I have anything against abs (hellooo), but because of that horrible moniker. It’s the one instance where the Korean connotation is worse than the English, when it’s usually the other way around.
The Beast features Jung in the lead role, and as a former stuntman, he’s doing 100% of the stunts for this film himself. The crew has taken to calling him “Ong Bak” on set, in reference to the eponymous film’s Thai action hero. Jung plays a special forces agent who goes up against a shady organization when they kidnap his younger sister. Cue: Rescue Mission with a Vengeance. If the posters are any indication, it’ll be beautifully shot and bloody. The good news is that Jung looks genuinely intense. He’s been getting better with every role, but this’ll be his first big one, so we’ll have to see if he can carry a film on his own. My sense is, his choice to break into leading actor territory in an action role is pitch perfect for him.
Jung showed a desire to play a diverse range of roles, saying, “I want to play a bum, a gangster, a cheapskate, a country bumpkin, an elitist, a villain…I want to try everything. I want to reinvent the image of Jung Seok-won that everyone has, saying, ‘I have this side of me too.'”
The Beast, directed by Hwang Yoo-shik and co-starring Jeon Se-hong, Jung Jun-hwan, Yoon Jung-yul, and Yoon Bong-gil, is slated to premiere next spring.

Btw, what the hell is that white furry thingie next to the lower right hand corner in the third picture?
I know, I know, why am I looking at that instead of what's in the middle of that picture. That is a fine shot of him, but I'm easily distracted by things I can't figure out.

beast man got mad, he shaved the dog, spun threads out of it and (scroll to second pic) made a sweater. dog was left cold, until it regrew its fur. bad, beast man!

i like him since I saw him on variety show Let's Go Dream Team II...he's so fit, but dorky and fails all the time.
I always have a thing for dorky 'beast'...mwahahhahaa ( ie. Taekyeon of "Cinderella's Sister" :P )

I am a fan of all of this. Except maybe the hair - it looks weird in the first pic. And since action films are kinda my thing, I might have to find this one when it comes out.
... just had a mental image finding him and Jiheon shirtless and wrapped up in a bow at my front door. oh yeah ^^

YES, that was HIM. ^^ he was also in creating destiny which is where i saw his growth as an actor, then when i saw him in dr. champ - i became a fan.
i think i'll have to be on the lookout when this movie comes out!

I'm fast forwarding through the nitty gritty emotional scenes that don't involve the bromance abs competition and the other lead with the girl from prosecutor princess. This guy is definitely hot. My only complaint is that his ears are a tad too big. I loved him in Creating Destiny as well.
I laughed out loud when they had the reference to Prosecutor Princess with the prank phone call in Dr. Champ. I'm watching Queen of Reversals because of Park Shi Hoo and his father in that drama was Ma's father in PP!

And that shaker sweater - some things from the 80s are best left in the 80s.

Saw him in Creating Destiny and Shining Inheritance and I think he is really such a hottie. His handsomeness is rather different, though I can't really put it in words. I just find him hot and attractive. His body is definitely <3. Hope this movie turns out good! This man definitely deserves more limelight and love! :D

i agree.... the "beast" moniker is used loosely. i find it okay when i read articles about beastly men or beastly idols in English... but definitely the connotations are very different in Korean (and i'm assuming it's the same as the Chinese characters 禽兽), it draws up an gross image of savagery or inhumanity.
but anyways he looks deliciously dangerous/wounded in that set of promo photos... and he definitely looks like a beast... in the best and worse senses of the word
