Queen of Reversals gets extended

Huh. I’m a bit surprised to hear that MBC is giving Queen of Reversals an extension, because its ratings performance could only be called disappointing. Perhaps also mediocre. It’s been steadily hovering in safe-but-unremarkable range at around 10%, which is a far cry from the 30% that Queen of Housewives hit last year.

Yet somehow MBC is granting it an extra two episodes. AND considering tacking on 10 more after that.

The Monday-Tuesday romantic comedy was originally scheduled with 20 episodes in mind, and for now a revised total of 22 is confirmed. Currently, MBC’s drama department is consulting with the production and actors for another extension, citing strong rebroadcast numbers as one of their reasons.

If the second extension goes through, that means another month of delays for its successor drama, Birdie Buddy — and just when it had finally secured an airdate after floating for months. (It initially nabbed a spot on the March 2011 calendar, then was moved up to December. Now it’s looking at early 2011 again.) Drama can’t seem to catch a break.

I liked Queen of Housewives well enough, and if I had the time to catch Queen of Reversals I’d probably feel similarly about it, but TWELVE more episodes on a light comedy? Yeesh — if I’d been watching, I’d be tempted to drop it now. Yeah, so I’m a cut-n-runner. (My time is finite and I’m not getting any younger!)

I didn't see Queen of Housewives, but I have been watching Queen of Reversals. It's been fun and enjoyable, but I honestly feel this is really at heart a 16 episode rom com, 20 at the most...and only if the writing and directing can pace the development well enough to support a 20 episode run. Two extra episodes...hmmm, I don't know. And the possibility of an even more protracted extension? Unless the writers can come up with something amazing that won't feel like it was obviously tacked on just for the sake of extending out the drama, I think it may prove to be a bad mistake.

Thanks, JB!

Totally agree. It's been an amusing ride, but I'm already two weeks behind (the back-and-forth workplace shenanigans are taking up too much screentime, compared to the heart of the drama). I can't fathom hanging on for another twelve, when I just made it halfway when I thought it was 20!

Aaargh. Cute show, but this announcement makes me sigh a big sigh.

honestly, i thought it was a 16ep rom-com - only this week did i realize that it was a 20ep show.

NOW this news?! hmm, i might have to rethink this a bit, especially if they extend another 10? really? what could they possibly do that'll require an extra 12 episodes? geeez!

Queen of Reversals is not nearly as much fun as QofH, although I really like Kim Nam-joo in both productions.
I was thinking of abandoning ship, and with this news I think I will.

I really liked Park Shi-hoo in Prosecutor Princess. I loved the chemistry and lightning fast verbal exchanges between him and Kim So-yeon(love her, btw!).

In Queen of Reversals, I really like Park Shi-hoo and his secretary/assistant. I love how the assistant is always complaining of being his indentured servant...and how Park Shi-hoo just dismisses him. Good chemistry!

omg me too! i actually just discovered him when he was in PP, was falling since. i really hope they get coupled again. OMG and i loved how the PP characters got mentioned in both of their drama. Kim so yeon with dr. champ, where PSH called her:) and how im QOR, he threatens a guy that was harassing the lead that he would call his prosecutor, Ma Hye Ri. I love them... :) The relationship between his assistant is too cute, bromance ^^

I had caught the mention in Dr. Champ, when PSH called asking for Ma Hye Ri...but I completely missed the QoR part!
I'll have to try to find that scene.

Thanks! :)

Seriously, he's the only reason I keep watching. The main male lead is one of the most pathetic, sniveling, annoying characters I've seen yet. If only Kim Nam-joo would forever break up with him and move on with PSH - but I know that's probably unlikely :(

same here, I'm watching this only for PSH! I, for one, don't mind the extention if they give him more screen time and making him the first lead instead. LOL!
Btw, I too love the chemistry btw PSH & the secretary.

Maybe I am the only one who find this drama pretty average.I am going to stop watching. I started it because of PSH, but he is totally under-utilized. There is no chemistry between the leads or second leads. The comical moments are few ,and seen before. There is nothing to keep you watching, only if you have nothing to do. I just don't see how an extension will help it. Perhaps with Giant ending,MBC think that they can increase viewership. For me, I am looking forward to Athena.

Just as some people agreed in earlier posts , the only reason I watched the drama so far is the chemistry between PSH and the secretary. They are hilarious.

hmm, i could see a 12 ep extension working if they completely change the course of the story -- add another arc and and in doing so change the main pairing.

If the extension results in her ending up with PSH, which is what I really want, but totally doubt will happen, then I'm all for it. I adore Jung Joon-ho after Last Scandal, but his character here is such a sniveling, weak, waste of time, that I can't like him, no matter how much I like the actor. Still, I am enjoying the drama as a whole, and the PSH-secretary thing is hilarious. IIRC, the Prosecutor Princess reference in this is in episode 7. I'm now more interested in checking out Dr. Champ after hearing there's a reference in that show too!

The only reason I even watched a couple of episodes is because of Park Shi Hoo. It's being broadcasted here through MBC America so I'm just recording it. I don't understand the reason for the extension. There are other dramas that should have been extended but this one definitely is not that exciting.

unless they decide to end kim nam joo with park shi hoo then i really dont think they have enough drama to cover 22 eps...despite the fact im really enjoying the drama!

ho-hum. on the matter of the husband, i too dislike him, although i much prefer him to oh ji ho from the previous series. but i still want park shi hoo to end up with kim nam joo - they fit each other perfectly (and he's so adorably sweet to her!)

i actually love this drama, because of its characters. the male leads in this drama are a far cry from the usual prince charming who swoops in to save the damsel in distress. In Queen of Reversals, the women are the one who call the shots, seen through Tae Hee, Yoo Jin and the evil stepmother and the old evil woman.

And can I rave on how awesome I love Park Shi Hoo's man-child character? The one he grapples with his affection for Kim Nam Joo's character was total adorable! The elevator scene! Hurhur! Though I always think extensions never benefit a drama, I don't mind TWO more episodes of PSH! More abs pls!!

me too, i'm on the verge of dropping the drama if not for PSH.

the extension is a surprise because i even thought the original 20eps will be shortened to 16 because it's nothing like QOH.

i'm one week behind the drama already.

Queen of Reversal is no match to Queen of Housewives at so many levels, unfortunately.

The biggest joy in watching QoH is the storyline of Kim Nam-joo and Yoon Sang-hyun which is like the plotline here between Kim Nam-joo and Park Shi-hoo. The latter pair simply does not have that chemistry or compatibility to light up the screen whereas YSH just shone through and through. After watching Ep 13 of QoR last night, I had to get some Taebong fix, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmsaIQ-f6dY&feature=related

PSH is perhaps a bit young for KNJ. The husband character - be it JJH in QoR or Oh Ji Ho in QoH - is created to make us ship for the second man. It doesn't help that Sun Woo-sun is a far superior actress than Chae Jung Ahn as the second female lead.

I am not watching QoR but I totally love KNJ and YSH in QoH. I will jump ship if they will add TBssi in QoR and I will enthusiastically cheer for the show until Ep32 (sheez with that number, I have just realized that this could be the longest running romcom if ever)

It ' s a pleasant drama quite suitable after SKKS which stole my heart . Here I ' m not shipping for any one while in SKKS I was shipping for every one , so it is just fun to watch as the acting , specially of the main pair is very good .

If the 10 episode extension does end up going through I actually think that it'll help with character and story development. So far the drama falls weak in comparison to its predecessor. The characters seem to be flatter and under-developed versions of the previous character's they 'represent'. With the extension I think the writers will have more time to flesh out the characters to stand as their own and not cookie-cutter versions that have been slightly tweaked for the sequel.

What has disappointed me so far is that the drama seems to be leading up and using the same plot devices as the previous drama. It's been done and predictable. With what I'm seeing, the drama is forcing the couples apart, due to the given circumstances, only to reunite them back together when they both realize that they still love each other and then.. the end. It's quite boring and predictable.

I still watch it for Kim Nam Joo and Park Shi Hoon. I'm hoping the writers change it up and let Kim Nam Joo's character see what is painfully in her face --Park Shi Hoon! And make them a happy-ever-after-ending. Jung Joon Ho's character does nothing for me. But it could also be because I don't like his acting style anyways.

Yikes another two episodes or even 12 episodes more! This drama is on my watch list until it finishes airing. I don't know if I should pick it up after hearing the drama extension. I think I might watch it if Park Shi Hoo's ends up with the main actress. Fall in love with him after watching PP.

Thanks for the news, JB!

Both Queen and Biride Buddy do not interest me. Wish MBC would spend some good money to hire a bunch of creative executives to juice up the lineup. It's been pretty disappointing lately.

Well I don't really pay no attention what others say bad or good about this drama the only thing I know I enjoy watching it and I love the main character especially Park JH hopefully he will end up w/the main character.Hopefully the viewers will see that there's a lot to learn in this drama .It speaks about sincerity, trust
and how to manage your marriage , deceit , and most of all faithfulness to what you promise to one another in the eyes of God and to all witnesses of the sanctity of marriage. When I am watching drama not because I like so much the characters but because of the storyline and the way the character portray their part.

I was a fan of Queen of Reversal and the storyline really caught my interest to watch it faithfully. With problem that arise after marriage it can happen to any couple especially if the motives of your husband is to hurt the love of your life that get out of your hands. But then it's a lesson to watch, that buildiing a family is not based on revenge rather . You get marriage because you love the person with all your heart. To see the fruits of your marriage is the best part of being a couple and for that it is the job and responsibility of the man to keep it guarded towards lust.So even though this drama what we so called drama it really kicks off my interest to watch it. In other hands woman must do the same.
Congratulations to the writer of this drama more power to you.Keep up the good work.....
