My Princess: Episode 15

SO MUCH CUTENESS in this episode. It’s like the good ol’ days, which I wasn’t expecting so late in the game with all the monarchy stuff nearing resolution, but which I found refreshingly welcome. True, it’s a little low on story movement, but when you pit story movement against some majorly adorable Kim Tae-hee/Song Seung-heon couple antics, it’s no contest.

EPISODE 15 RECAP

After their temporary separation, Hae-young shows up at the palace, catching Seol just as she’s engaged in her victory dance over his text message.

He tells her he missed her, but she’s miffed over his two-month silence. He’s been in New York, and she asks if he’s left behind his perception — in moments like these, he’s supposed to take some kind of action. He replies that in New York, they react like this — this being a kiss on the lips, which he follows up with a few more.

Well, that’s a pretty effective way to get her back on your side. Seol is adequately appeased and jumps into his arms, and he twirls her around.

He explains that he was in New York to “take care of something,” and while that term can apply to anything, both business affairs and personal, it’s also used to refer to ending a romantic relationship (as in, tying up loose ends). Seol assumes the latter and asks how many women he had that he took so long to break up with them all, and tells him to put them in the past now.

The plant he gave her has sprouted, and the meaning behind their flowers is “Be happy.” She pouts a little that his flower message was unromantic, but he corrects her: “How can you be happy without me? It means that I’ll stick by your side every day.” She holds him to it, and wants him to make up for lost time by sticking within 50 centimeters of her, starting tomorrow. And what’s wrong with today?

Hae-young has brought back his father’s written statement that he won’t claim his legal portion of the inheritance, making Hae-young the primary heir to his grandfather’s fortune, of which he is entitled to half. The next step is to give up his portion to the monarchy…only he doesn’t intend to do that anymore. Say wut?

Hae-young meets with Yoon-ju, who is still bitter over her fate, not that she earned it or anything, of course, according to the story in her mind. She’d been given a job after being fired from the museum, but quit on her first day.

He tells her that his father was happy to see him, but also that he’d asked after Yoon-ju — a reference to the fact that she’d contacted him trying to thwart the monarchy. Even here she has been outmaneuvered, because his father has decided not to return to Korea. He’d rather accept his father’s punishment than to circumvent it (as Yoon-ju offered).

Hae-young adds that he’s not going to see her anymore, either. She calls him “extremely cruel, sometimes,” which is like the pot calling the kettle a little bit dirty.

Yoon-ju meets her father for lunch, only to find herself ambushed by a blind date. She sits uncomfortably while the man chats with her about her work, though that gets cut short by the appearance of Jung-woo (arrrgh), here to rescue her from this embarrassing date. He pulls her out of the restaurant, and says he missed her (double arrrrgh). She tells him stiffly that she’s the woman who dumped him, then got dumped by her fiancé, but he still wants to start over with her. (ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH.)

She tells him he’s crazy (for once, no disagreement here), but he just smiles and says she’s at her coolest when she’s with him.

Seol meets with Secretary Oh to offer him the job Yoon-ju just vacated, to his great shock. He protests that his daughter’s misconduct got her fired, but Seol says that he served the chairman his whole life and will be of great help to her.

The news breaks that Hae-young’s father has given up his claim to the chairman’s inheritance, and now all eyes turn to Hae-young, speculating over whether he will keep it for himself or turn it over. Seol overhears the court ladies gossiping, and is alarmed by the story.

This means Hae-young is now courted by the opposition assemblyman, who is thrilled at the development. Considering Hae-young’s past comments about blocking the princess’ progress, he assumes Hae-young will be on his side now and urges him to trust in him.

Jung-woo makes the opposing assumption, that Hae-young will naturally turn over the wealth, and asks what he’s going to do to quell the speculation. Hae-young replies that he’s human, that the decision isn’t an easy one, and that he’s currently thinking it over. He adds, “Why are people more interested in other people’s inheritances than their own?” Touché.

But then he assures Jung-woo that he has no intention of keeping the money — this is his strategy to get the citizenry worked up. The knowledge that they’re taking money away from a chaebol will stir them to vote — much more than, say, if he eagerly handed it over without a fight. “All things need villains.” Ooh, crafty. Jung-woo is rather impressed and laughs to himself.

He works this angle in the interview he gives to a reporter, who asks if he’s thinking to support or oppose the restoration vote. He gives noncommittal answers (“Perhaps” and “I suppose you could say so”) designed to make it look like he’s diminishing the importance of the vote, casually saying that he doesn’t suppose the vote will amount to much. At the key question of whether he’d hand over his inheritance were the restoration plans cancelled, he asks, “Would you hand it over easily?”

The reporter is even hesitant to publish the story, acknowledging that it may cause public scorn for Hae-young. But Hae-young encourages him to publish whatever he feels is right, as it doesn’t matter to him.

Seol, unaware of his master plan, reads the articles to great dismay. Jung-woo isn’t about to blab, so he takes in Seol’s reaction with amusement, particularly when she orders Hae-young’s bodyguard/aide to put him on the no-fly list, given his odd behavior of late. The aide mumbles that he’s not authorized to do that so she orders him to keep tabs on him, report back about his doings, and even tape him.

When she confronts Hae-young, he enjoys teasing her, saying that she’d better start sucking up to him now, since he’s vacillating on the inheritance issue.

She can’t believe his inexplicable change of heart, not amused at his suggestion that they take his riches and live abroad together. He tells her it’s in her best interest to keep him happy — and then tells her to start by wearing that scandalously short skirt she’d threatened him with in a previous text message. Hee.

Then he takes issue with the way she addresses him (“Park Hae-young-sshi”) and she retorts, “What should I call you, then, Hae-young-ah?” He angles for an oppa, which she refuses. So he feigns being annoyed and stalks out in a huff, so Seol chases after him and concedes, “Fine, I’ll do it. Oppa — happy?” He pretends he didn’t hear, so she yells it in his ear.

He grabs her phone to reprogram her Mr. P label to “our oppa,” which he erases for “our honey,” and then finally: “Warm and youthful Hae-young oppa.” (The “warm and youthful” part refers to her description of her other oppa — Joo Sang-wook’s cameo — in a prior episode.)

He looks so proud of himself, it’s hilarious. She grumbles that it’s so smarmy, and again he feigns feeling insulted, sending Seol after him apologizing. That settled, he instructs her that until he signs the papers, he wants her to wink at him every time they meet eyes. Puahaha. Seol obliges reluctantly, only she’s unable to wink with one eye, so she blinks at him instead. So cute.

She calls him stingy and childish for withholding his inheritance to order her around, and he agrees that it is, “But it’s so fun.”

She finally gets him back a little by telling him that she’s had numerous offers for marriage blind dates, and goes off to prepare for one. Two can play this game, Mister P.

Seol introduces Secretary Oh to the staff as the new boss, and announces her intention to remain in this position even if the vote doesn’t go through. She’s dedicated to her role, though the problem then becomes their lack of funding. So she asks her staff to look into ways of maintaining a foundation without money, and offers to ride her current popularity into landing CFs for princess-related wares.

Hae-young video-calls her, trying to contain his worry that she’s actually out on a date like she threatened. She hangs up on him, and he calls back to instruct her to meet him. The meeting place turns out to be a car dealership, where he grills her on her date and prods for details — what does the guy do for a living? Did she smile at him? Look into his eyes? Seol tells him that she’s thinking of going out on another date with the guy.

He’s here to buy a car, her and their promised driving lessons. Only, the lesson goes about as well as you might expect, which totally takes me back to those teenage years when I thought I’d never be able to drive without fear. She’s plastered to the wheel like an old lady, going all of 20 kmh (which she calls speedy), while Hae-young beats his chest in frustration at her inability to drive straight.

Finally he orders her out and calls her a dummy in frustration, which especially peeves her and makes her retort that maybe he didn’t consider that the car was the problem, or his awful teaching. He contritely takes back the “dummy” and offers to accept his punishment — and leans in for a kiss.

Seol hardly thinks that’s a suitable punishment, so he says he’ll “take that back” — and leans in to “rescind” his kiss (with another one). Ha! That’s pretty smooth, actually. *Files away for future use.*

Hae-young then goes to the president to ask for his help, and though the latter is surprised, he agrees to let the vote decide the monarchy’s fate. He comments on Hae-young’s “foolishness and courage” at putting up his enormous inheritance, which makes him wish he were on his side. In fact, the president makes the offer for Hae-young to come work for him in the Blue House.

The days go by and two days before the vote, Seol gives an interview with Reporter Yoon. Asked what she’d like to do first if the vote passes, she answers that she’d like “somebody’s” congratulations, skillfully evading his prodding for a name.

Afterward, she’s ushered into the conference room, where Hae-young signs the papers giving up his inheritance to the monarchy. It’s not until afterward that Seol clues into his motivation, as he asks Jung-woo not to make this public until after the vote, because if it were to become news now, people would not be motivated to cast their ballots.

She thanks him, and he says there’s nothing to thank — the money was never his to begin with, and he’d just been greedy for it before. To assure her that he’ll be fine, he reminds her that his diplomat’s pay is pretty good, and he’s got property in his name, “So don’t go running away saying I’m poor now.”

He asks for a prize to reward his nice gesture, and they go out walking the streets together. Seol comments that it’s a pretty weak request — an ordinary streetside date — and he quips, “And what sweeter prize were you thinking to give me, Your Highness Ero-Seol?” HAHA. If only we could see inside her mind…

She asks if he’ll still stick with her if the vote fails, and he teases, “Nope. That princess of Monaco’s really pretty.” Put out, Seol suggests he sets his sights on Princess Fiona instead, green skin and all, who is at least pretty by day. He says he’d rather have Seol, then, since she’s pretty at night too.

Seol corrects him: She’s even prettier at night. He retorts that she’s prettiest when she’s not talking, and Seol tags along after him like a muppet, chirping, “Talk. Talk talk talk talk talk talk talk…” So cute.

They walk along, eating street food, browsing the stands, and playing games. They have to make a break for it when a few bystanders recognize Seol and chase them, clamoring for photos, and manage to escape safely.

However, news footage on a large outdoor screen catches their eye, with the caption indicating that one last scandal has broken out about Seol. This one was spurred by her evasive comments at her recent interview, and has dredged up old footage of Hae-young and Seol together, linking them romantically. The reporter has taken her rather innocent comments and twisted it into a Big Story, on the eve of the vote.

Hae-young’s plan is to use a televised denial of the rumors to do some damage control, but Jung-woo warns that that could have unforeseen detrimental effects. Seol says that she’ll take care of it herself, and films a video message.

Seol: “Hello, citizens, this is Lee Seol. You must have been surprised at the news. To start with the conclusion, I love Park Hae-young. Regarding the doubt about the monarchy, there will be people who believe me and those who do not. However, the truth that does not change is that I love Park Hae-young.”

The video is released, and voting day comes. Some mock it, like the assemblyman and the president, who pose for the cameras as they cast their votes and scoff at her love declaration. An indifferent Yoon-ju sits at home, while her father tells her that he trusts she will make it out to the polls.

At the palace, everyone gathers to watch the news report once the counting begins. Seol sits worriedly, so Hae-young pries her away from the TV and takes to her room, where he leads her in breathing exercises to relax. She catches him sneaking a look at the news on his phone, and eagerly asks for the restuls. With a grim face, he tells her, “It’s over.”

Before she can press him on what that means, Jung-woo enters with the staff on his heels, facing her with an equally solemn face, and tells her to confirm the truth for herself by watching the broadcast. It’s clearly not good news.

We fade out, and then we come back…

TWO YEARS LATER. (I know!)

At a school campus, Seol rides by on her bike, dressed like a normal girl, and mobbed by a group of excited students.

COMMENTS

Huh, so the vote didn’t go through? That’s actually a surprise to me, since I thought it was definitely going to pass. In that regard I welcome the surprise, just because it’s one of very few in the story that has been, on the whole, rather predictable.

That predictability is why the uber-cuteness of this episode totally makes this episode for me. We all know that we weren’t watching My Princess for the politics, and when we say “I could watch these two bicker and flirt for the whole series,” it’s not really such a hyperbole since those are the best parts of the drama. So to have an episode chock-full of their teasing, arguing, and making up is as close to perfect an episode of My Princess as you could hope for. The actual plot stuff could’ve fit into five minutes of airtime, but I’m not complaining that they didn’t highlight those more. The only thing to have made it even better would’ve been to give us more Hae-young/Jung-woo male posturing.

As for Yoon-ju and Jung-woo…. (ARGH!) I get the impulse to redeem the baddie, I do. You don’t want to end a rom-com on a downer. But Yoon-ju hasn’t even BEEN redeemed. She learned nothing. It’s not like she stepped down from her job because she realized she was being an evil bitch-bot, or backed off gracefully. She doesn’t deserve her happy ending. If she gets her second chance with Jung-woo, I’m going to be mighty unhappy, although I suppose I can’t feel sympathy for him since he went into it with his eyes wide open.

Everytime, i keep seing the Samsung Galaxy tab, i am seriously thinking of buying one or wait for the Galaxy Tab 2 to be released in US.

Ohhh My Princess, what have you done to me and my budget..considering it's really not practical for me. (i have IPad already and hubby will never approve if i tell him that the reason im getting Galaxy tab is because LS and PHY in My Princess have one)

The Diplomat and the Princess, i love this couple...
I dont want and dont feel like watching any drama after this, coz i feel like im betraying my love for them...i just have to rewatch all the episodes and read the recaps from start to finish. And the comments too.

Kim Tae Hee & Song Seun-hun sizzles...they are so good together in this drama. My love for SSH has revived. I've always liked him until until his love match in a previous drama that still leaves a bitter taste...
NOW... KTH & SSH...these two are so refreshing to watch. I have fun watching their flirtatious romance even when they are bickering. I enjoy watching their skinship...hugs kisses & all...as long as they are touching each other! Hae Young & Seol truly & sincerely love each other so we love to watch them romance. YAY! SSH/KTH...you rock! MORE PLEASE! MAYBE THE 2 YEARS (FAST FORWARD) WILL BE "MY PRINCESS 2".
Until YJ show remorse for her crimes I'd protest seeing her with Jung Woo. JW is protective of Seol so the feel is he's her big bro protector.
THANK YOU again for this enjoyable recap...*****

Fun fact: A few hours before I watched the raws of this episode, I was having my first driving lesson with my (pretty desperate) dad... Needless to say that the part where LS got HY all frustrated over her driving skills made me have the WORST nervous giggle ever!
Inner-self back then: "Hey, but chill, warm and youthful oppa! At least SHE managed to stop the car without making it go wild!..."

Hi everyone. Thanks for being with me all this time. I'm sad cos today's the last ep. But I'm happy too cos I've proven to you that I can act. I'm sure you all agree I'm the charmingest, handsomest, loveliest guy alive. Correct? I see heads tilting everywhere. I'll take that as a YEA.

When I first started, you all had misgivings about me. Some of you cruelly jibed that I was a hand towel. Despite my pleas, you still continued to address me by that hateful name. I realised that it would be no easy feat to get rid of that accursed monicker. So I vowed to embrace it instead, to make it ME. I WOULD BE A HAND TOWEL and display hand towel qualities...I would be warm, comforting, fluffy.

Now that we are at the penultimate ep, I am proud to say that I think I have indeed become THE perfect hand towel. I am warm. I am comforting. I surprise myself with my fluffiness at times.

My comment here would not be complete without a mention of my abs. You are all strangely fixated on them. It is almost as if my abs have a life apart from me. It is as if there are two mes living inside this body. A hand towel me and an abs me. No matter. I embrace my abs me just as I embrace my hand towel me. Suffice to say my abs are my pride and joy. I will continue to cherish and nurture my abs forever and always (I listen to Taylor's songs he he). LONG LIVE MY ABS!!!!! *toasting puffed-up abs in mirror reflection* Ooooof....geez, that was painful.....

As for the question of whether there will be any intimate scene in today's final ep, well, we can only wait and hope. But be aware that if there are any shortcomings in the kiss, it certainly is not on my part. I have tried my level best but it is tough to kiss a girl who morphs into a wooden block the moment we touch lips. But rest assured that I will not give up! After all, I AM A HAND TOWEL! Hand towels do not give up! Aja aja fightin'!

Nowadays a lot of ppl stop me on the streets and tell me: I want to be like you. Tell me what to do. The answer is: if you want to be a hand towel, just believe in yourself. Just look in the mirror and tell yourself: YES, I CAN. What? You said that's what Obama said? You're confused. He said: Yes YOU can. So it's different. Geez. Get your facts right. There can be miracles if you believe. What? You're saying that's what Mariah and Whitney sang? You are seriously pissing me off. Okay, I'm feeling very un-handtowelly right now. I'm filling up with RAGE. Watch my big black round pupils dilate. See my frown appear. See my head tilt. Uh oh! Now my eyes are slanting sideways. AAAARGHHHHHHHHHHH! Hear that? That's me hollering my lungs out in fury. I AM MADDDDDDDDD!!!! OMG I AM SO SO MAD I AM TILTING LIKE CRAZYYYYYY!!!!! GET OUTA THE WAY!!!!!! LAPTOP COMING YOUR WAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Mr Hand Towel Not,

I don't think hand towel is a hateful monicker...you should be proud to be called one. It stands for security, dependability, flexibility, ability, creativity.

How you have wiped the tears, pain and grime from our sweet princess made us all go ga-ga and want to have our very own hand towels.

If people stop you in the streets its because they want to know where they can get one as fluffy and softy like you for themselves. People can never get enough of hand towels; they can't even live without one, even if they try really really hard.

But what I particularly like about your brand of hand towel is the ragged edges on both ends. They assure me that you are not all soft but has some ruggedness that will come in handy when the thugs come to bug me.

As for your cottony loops, I adore them. I can sink in them and keep warm and cuddly. Nothing can harm me on those fibrous domain.

So please let us call you our Mr Hand Towel. You are the one we truly truly want :-)

Loved this episode! Much better than 13 and 14 actually which lost me midway. I do think the vote went thru but I wouldn't be too upset if it didn't - I'm hoping for MORE cuteness next ep!! A wedding, royal or otherwise!

As GF said last week, all hail The Cute! MP's plot leaves a lot to be desired (to say the least), but the OTP is so frickin adorable, we get the "OOH, PUPPIES!!!" effect (and end up caring very little about the rest).

Thankfully, this was one of the most puppylicious episodes-- otherwise, Show would totally be in the doghouse right now for having (our precious) Jung Woo want to rekindle his relationship with Cruella de Vil. WTF was that all about, Show? We thought that Jung Woo had seen the light (or rather, in this case, the dark), right? Having him seek out and want to start over with the seemingly irredeemable and unremorseful Yoon Ju (and managing, in the process, to magically rescue her from the blind date that she didn't even know about) is just all kinds of wrong!!!

Speaking of wrong, I hope I am (wrong), but I have a sneaking suspicion that in epi 16, in addition to our happily-ever-after ending, we'll get another one of writer Kim Eun Suk's hand-of-fate flashback scenes. There may be a piano lesson involved which triggers the memory, but in any case, I suspect that we'll see Hae Young and Seol playing together as children and Seol putting her princess stickers in Hae-Young's piano book. Like I say, I hope I'm wrong, because after ending both City Hall and Secret Garden with a similar kind of flashback, it's time to give that plot device a rest. I do hope, however, that epi 16 brings us at least one more "driving lesson" in the antique car. =D

Too much cuteness in this show! While this show may have a not-so-good storyline and very bland bad guys compared to other dramas, it has one of the most interesting and fun couples in my opinion. There never was a time where I went "wow, they annoy me" or "they're boring to me." They were so fun together in this episode. Though during the driving lesson, when Hae-young pounded on his chest in frustration, all I could think about was "gorilla"... heh heh..

And Yoon-ju...what are you thinking Jung-woo? I mean, she hasn't shown any remorse over what she did, no apologies, etc., yet you're giving her a second chance? Why??

Disagree--I think the storyline is oriented towards an older crowd than anticipated. If you go for *just* the cute and the I must hit you over the head with my brilliant scheme and look, I am going to explain my brilliant scheme for the next five minutes, and let's back up and show my brilliant scheme, this drama is not of that variety. It's the subtle kind where it seeded things like she's the princess in the last 2 seconds during the credits.

Jung Woo also tried to redeem Yoon Ju before. By K-drama rules the rule is that the person that needs another person the most will get them. Though it was subtle, Yoon Ju was shown to need JW. He is her conscience, her support and tried to work against her to wake her up. Why? We'd have to back up quite a few episodes to explain that one.

From the flashback scenes to the confrontations, to his understanding and faith in Yoon Ju.

For those who don't like the subtle writing and prefer a sledgehammer instead, I think that you're watching the wrong medium. Try something like TW or even Hong Kong dramas. They explain things to little pieces.

If you want something intermediate, Hong Sister dramas tend not to be subtle objects (Except when they did the Hong Gil Dong, they layered in all kinds of subtle that made people go huh? And I spent time explaining that one too.)

Yes, the mind of a writer is scary, but if you catch up and catch on it's a lot more fun.

^^;; Not to dis too much, but some of the subtle cues from the last few dramas... I've noticed the Javabeans and girlfriday missed them... noticing them definitely adds depth. But as I said before it's probably because I approach most dramas from a writing approach, and since I've been writing so long I pick up on symbolism and foreshadowing a lot more. (Super sensitive.)

Okay, I don't know if you were insulting me or something, thinking I didn't pick up on subtle cues or needed to have the drama hit me with a sledgehammer to find out what's going on. Didn't appreciate that really. I don't know why you're assuming this of me from my few words.

My wording of "not so good storyline" may be bad wording. What I should have written was "not so interesting storyline to me". I really didn't care for the storyline. You may care, some others may care, but I didn't. Doesn't make others better than me. In other dramas, the storyline was interesting to me over the characters. It just happened that with this one, the storyline did not keep me watching because it wasn't that interesting to me, I kept watching because I became engaged in the characters.

And as for Yoon-ju, yes Jung-woo was trying to knock some sense into her and all that with his support, he did hug her before (not this episode) to try to get her to see the wrong in her ways. But Yoon-ju still doesn't seem to get it. She hasn't shown remorse. Jung-woo should have let her come to that point (after all he's done) before he did what he did this episode. It can't be all him doing all these things all the time, but nothing on her side.

Did people miss the fact that she became the princess? Or did they skip the credits. Why?

1. SSH played PHY as smug in that final scene and by that time he had texted the professor. So I think he asked the crew to play along with him. This would be very much in character with him so far.

2. The reporters the mobbed her as she came down the hill and arrived at the college They called out to her, "Princess!" "Princess!" They wouldn't be so interested if she wasn't the princess, which cinches it.

She is the princess. Did people really, really miss that part? Watch it again. I swear it's there. Why would reporters be interested in her life and that many if she wasn't the princess anymore?

BTW, the acting in this episode was great, plus it confirmed the theories that Samgetang and I had in previous episodes to a perfect T. Park Hae Young as the diplomat and LS as the people person--the perfect team.

I smell a wedding, because they brought up "eloping" last episode and again about the marrying. Plus the public confession just cinches a wedding.

The chemistry is good on this couple and I like how they transitioned smoothly from the intense kiss to the lover's kiss. I also love how they quarreled and it was PHY that was trying to be romantic.

They still have to spank the President's butt... so I'm looking for that loose end tied up and maybe something on what happened to Dan? She was just left hanging....

And the strawberry hairtie.... they seeded it, but then didn't do much with it... it needs to finish its story arc a little more.

One more episode to go! Yay. (Unless Dramawiki is wrong and they are acting weird about the rules of K-dramas.)

LOL! Yooonmi! Hahaha! You are so killing us for revealing the spoilers with only a few hours before the upload of the finale. :-)

Of course, we we're also thinking and secretly hoping that HY is conniving with the palace staff but, like HY, we don't want to voice it out for fear that it will preempt and diminish the surprise for everyone here :-) Why would they keep us hanging that way? *wink, wink*

We all know, agree, marvel, extol HY's virtues of diplomacy and political-savvy...we can, by now, almost predict his smart moves and savvy strategies. Didn't he just admitted that he tried to affect the peoples' votes by appearing to be irresolute with the turnover of his inheritance? We suspect that is not just what he has up his sleeve.

But, we'd rather wait for the story to unfold in its natural course ;-) We want to play along with HY and his smarty moves...Im sure many of the readers and those who post their comments here have an inkling as well into MP's subtle, layered plot...they may like it or not, but that would really depend upon individual tastes.

We all agree though that the CUTE here is the BEST! I for one love it for the other elements as well. :-) But without the cute, Id be bored to tears with just the political machinations to carry it along. The seamless merging of the two, cute fluff and brainy stuff, is the power behind MP for me.

PS... Yes, I think the people eventually voted in favor of the re-institution of the monarchy. But does it really matter? The title says "My Princess" so from POV of HY she did become His Princess ;-) and that's that ;-)

JB no word of extending the series i wondered? wahhhhh i miss this drama already! i can hardly wait to get the dvd of this cute drama, the more i love song seung & kim tae i hope they date in real life! :)
also i noticed KTH's wardrobe in this drama are really nice & not over the top like the ones from Eun's My Fair Lady!

thanks for the recap!! Haeyoung rocked in this episode! And I'm really glad they mentioned his diplomat's salary and that he was probably just a cheap guy for buying all his things with his family money instead of the money he earned (which is why everything got repossessed in the early episodes).

ARRRRGH on the Jung-woo x Yoon-ju reunion!! She hasn't learned a thing- how will he know she won't backstab him again??

I sort of didn't want the vote to go through so Seol can try to live as a normal girl. She will still be a princess and people will still know her as the princess, but without the monarchy, she won't have to perform all those royal duties.

Lee Seol really shows she's Ero-Seol in episode 16. Good for her and women's lib. She finally found her mojo. Don't want to spoil it totally for those who have yet to see. Can't wait for subs to understand the dialogs between LS & PHY. Sweet, sweet, sweet. I fell as thoough I have given birth, and my anxiety has left the house. The pain we went through week after weeks waiting for uploads, recaps, previers, transcripts,, etc. All of this was due the amazing coupling of SSH & KTH. THEIR CHEMISTRY WAS IMPOSSILE TO REPEAT. Aigo, good thing we have the www where we can watch our favorite scenes over and over again. BRAVO ERO-SEOL! You rocked!!!! Loved, loved, loved the ending (even though a wedding would have been nice).

Just watched the raw vid of epi 16. WOWWW! I think KTH exceeded even SSH's expectations, hahaha! Much too racy, our princess, hehehe! Ive never seen SSH as happy as in this kdrama...especially the last scene of the finale. Lucky lucky guy, our diplomat! :-) Episode 15 has the most number of kisses in one episode but episode 16 has the steamiest of 'em all...definitely! Finally, LS beats HY, the brilliant strategist and master orchestrator, in his own game...love this ending! :-) Girl power! MP rocks!!!

I saw a major spoiler. Hahaha. OMG. You have to know Dae Jang Geum for this one. And if they miss mentioning Dae Jang Geum, I'm sooo going to be explaining that part.

I know the answer, but I can't tell by spoilers. (If you were paying attention before to lines about Dae Jang Geum the previous is the spoiler's answer... don't know if anyone saw that much.)

@Samgetang

We are good at this thing.

Umm... I tend to hate melodramas because they exaggerate political plot points (Sign), and the occasional cute in Dong Yi kept me going with the lovely intrigue in the middle and the talking about morals and steadfastness. But at the same time I liked dramas like Dae Jang Geum which was less on the cute and more on the political intrigue. Also a few anime/J-dramas that were heavy politically and frustrating on the romance level. (Saiunkoku.)

MP may live one foot in both, but I think there can be an art to do it without all the cute too. It's just that the more politics there are, the more likely that the audience will get older and older.

MP may have not surprised and twisted itself with the storyline--but most K-dramas, what you sign up for is what you get. Even twisty ones like PP of last year, you still knew the basic ending from the beginning--the excitement was in getting there.

Restoration--of course you're going to expect *some* politics.

Even the entirely horrible dramas really didn't play with complete U-turns. (Prince's First Love.) If you sign up for a drama about the fashion industry, I expect office politics, clothes, etc. Not a sudden jump to being about being jobless, and so on.

We saw the disaster of dramas that lived on the cute of the couple alone, and saw how much that fell apart. So while if people were going for just the cute, I think one has to concede on some level that the storyline was well constructed--and it wasn't another MSOAN. There were no plot leaps, more like plot tiptoes. ^.~

Agree with you, Yoonmi, on the "what you signed up for" part. I also love Jewel in the Palace even though there was almost totally no cute there in the category of MP :-) well, one or two maybe? :-). But I was not expecting that from the show and I watched it as a historical piece of work and was looking for depth and inspiration...something ennobling for my soul. :-) which I got in loads and loads...

Agree that MSOAN (and dont forget PK) are some examples of shows that miserably failed in balancing the cute with the plot/story/sense whatever, but still I got some take-aways from these shows :-) in some aspect. Philosophically speaking haha! And from an anthropological and social point of view, it amazes me how these two shows are such huge hits...it is very much telling of the state of our world now. but that's another story altogether. i love to discover what makes them tick...which is my biggest reason for watching them to the very end as well even if the stories were almost catatonic (sorry, fans!) so in the end I enjoyed the ride despite myself :-) (happy, fans?)

As for MP, yes! It wants to cater to all age levels that is why there is playfulness and a child-like quality in the interactions alongside the big looming issue of the monarchy restoration.

Im not as well-versed in the plot points, twists and turns but Im learning so much from you. Maybe in the future you can share with me your literary works so I can learn a thing or two :-) Thanks, Yoonmi!

Email them to me at samgetangph@gmail.com if you feel like sharing them. Im excited to learn something new...

I am a bit thrown by the "2 years later" thing. Not for the voting results, since we know our couple will be together no matter what...but I am wary about them spoiling something in the last hour.

Like I was kinda burned by Secret Garden - the show seemed like it should have ended at ep. 17 or 18, but it kept going and introduced kids and all that, and I was "meh" about that ending, after such a roller-coaster ride!

So now I am suspecting something similar with MP and bracing myself for it...Also, I am hesitating to click play on ep. 16 because I am quite depressed that it is almost over.

I don't want to imagine my life without a regular dose of SSH....
