So Ji-sub becomes a hit man

King of broody, angsty, tragic heroes So Ji-sub (who was broody, angsty, and tragic in Road No. 1, Cain & Abel, and I’m Sorry, I Love You) has signed on to a new movie, which means he’ll be working nonstop after he wraps his latest project, the romance melodrama Only You with Han Hyo-joo.

The new project is titled Company Employee — a mundane title that offers a wry contrast to its subject matter about an employee in a killer-for-hire company. Like a good worker bee, the man suffers no pesky pangs of guilt from his line of work — until he falls in love with a woman (of course!) and decides he wants out of his job. He wants to live a normal life, but as he tries to extricate himself, he finds himself the target of his former colleagues in this rollicking slapstick comedy. No, wait. I mean action melodrama. (But seriously, wouldn’t it be great as a comedy? All black and dry and sardonic? It could be like Grosse Pointe Blank meets Tarantino. Aw, now I really want to see that movie.)

Already I’m way more interested in Employee than I am in Only You, which is about an ex-boxer falling in love with a woman going blind. Guuuuuh. Sorry, I’ll pass on that one. But So dressed up like a killer, giving up killing, and running away from killers? Good times.

Lemme guess the ending. He takes a bullet for the love of his life. While eating ramen. But it somehow works out because the bullet didn't enter his brain, it just rented his brain out until he dies a slow painful death. While atching the love of his life tell the sniper that she prefers him instead.

AMIRITE?

You forgot the amnesia.

I'm all for hitman movies. I have an unhealthy love for Guns and Talks which actually is a dark comedy about assassins, so SJS as a hitman I would love...assuming it really was a comedy. LOL!

Hitman movies can be awesome, especially if the hitman has a Heart Of Gold or if there is much funny to be had.

*adds Guns & Talks to to-watch list*

Can't he ever play a cheerful role? At least once, I'd like him to see him in a comedy or...I don't know anything that has not him brooding or killing people.

Watch him on Sophie's Revenge, its a movie and no killing and no brooding. Employee with So Ji Sub - added to list and to watch!

Watch his older works then. Two come to mind: "We Are Dating Now" and "Three Guys and Three Girls." One is a rom-com and the other is a sitcom.

And too bad it's not a comedy... if done well that could have been awesome and hilarious. Damn.

I think I would prefer to see him play a gay man than see him do tragical ("Anne of Green Gable's" word) stuff AGAIN!

So off topic but I am like the biggest fan of the AOGG series! I've read all 8 books in the series a million times over and I have a secret wish of someday visiting PEI.

Okay, fangirl over and out.

Hi! You are right I am a female.

My fourth grade teacher introduced me to Anne. Then there was the series on "Masterpiece Theater" and I believe I read all the books as well.

Tragical was just the right word for all of So Ji-sub's work. I love him as an actor, so wish I could feel good about the characters he plays.

I have had my fill of the "sickness of the month" dramas and movies. I must admit "Thank You" was exceptional. I especially like the parts when the doctor talks to the young Buddhist monk at the funeral and the older woman saying "This is worse than the 38th parallel" when she is locked out from visiting the demented father. Great writing!

"Thank You" is exceptional. I keep forgetting to write in active/present form for works of art.

let's make it complicated.
The last client assigned to him is no other than the girl he loves. with the irony of it all, she is not the girl he thought she is.
As tragic as it is, and i agree, he'll take that bullet to save the person he loves.

So Ji Sub should do comedies. I can't think of him without thinking about how close he was with Park Yong Ha and then it's so sad.

SJS is talented , very good looking actor , hopefully this movie having interesting storyline , no brainless characters , no car accident , no cancer , no die hard first love ,no triangle love story and most at all no nonsense death of main characters .i love him as a actor .

He has sad looking eyes, that's why tragic roles suit him. Who knows - comedy might take that sad look away.

Don't you guys think it really sounds like the American movie "Killers", with Katerine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher ?
It made me think of it ^^

I haven't seen much of his recent roles, so my memory of him in films isn't actually that of SJS always being angsty. But it really does seem like his choice of projects aren't very cheerful...

He really should be in a rom-com. Doesn't he fit the perfect description of a charming yet cold chaebol? It'd be great - he gets to be gloomy AND be in a comedic drama. All is satisfied.

I watched him in We Are Dating Now and Cain and Abel as well as PS I love you and Glass Slippers. He used to sorta grimace when he smiled, but in Cain and Abel, viola! No more grimace! He had a really beautiful curvy smile there. Maybe he did something to his cheek muscles, but whatever it was, it worked fine! Cos he looks gorgeous now when he smiles. I love him most charming, as he was in Cain and Abel. The title sounds cool: Employee...understatement considering what he works as.

I still don't see the attraction for So Ji-sub (I know what he's been in and that he's uber popular), but than again I've never really sat down and watched any of his shows. . . Weeeell, ok, I saw pieces of Thousand Years of Love but didn't really feel like sticking around so I fast forwarded to the end - which didn't make me like the drama even more. I guess I'm one of those people who don't like or care much about a person until I've actually seen them in a drama/movie/variety show and became really impressed. THAT's how I end up thinking someone is HOT (unless they're hot in an unearthly-ungodly-nowayisanyonethatgoodlookinginreallife- way and than I might give them a shot for vanity's sake).

But he should try comedy one of these days, it might be interesting to see him go that route.

Ok, I googled for some pictures of him after staring at the above in hopes of figuring it out and I started to wonder if it's because I've rarely seen a smiling picture of him. But I found some and man, all I have to say is: (1)Dude can look badass when he's rocking shaggy hair (even when he's brooding) and (2) He should smile more often because it's a really good look on him.

C'mon Ani, watch him in Rough Cut and MISA, he has the kind of face that is even more attractive the more you look at him. His body is to die for...love those shoulders!

I think I first fell for him when he did High Cut photo shoot after Park Yong ha died. It was black and white and there was something so haunting and beautiful in his eyes. He's a very soulful person methinks. Then when he smiles his whole face lights up.

Yeah I also don't care about an actor/actress until I'm impressed by them. Case in point: No minwoo who was hot but dull in MGIAG, but then shined in RockRockRock.

How much sense does it make that you've killed lots of people without thinking twice about it, and then just suddenly change because you fall in love?!?!?! XDDD Weird D:

They should make this like "Léon", then it might be good ^^ And I really hope they don't take a serious approach to the whole killer thing, but rather a lighter one D:
