Cha Seung-won shaves his cow mustache

HA! Cha Seung-won has finally shaved off his facial hair, showing off his new clean-cut image in a photo he uploaded to his me2day account on the 15th. Cha wrote the accompanying comment: “I’ve cut off the facial hair at last. You’ll be able to find out the reason by watching Episode 5. I’m Dokko Jin!”
The “cow” descriptor comes from the fact that the shape his hair made was the Korean word 소, meaning cow, as pointed out to Dokko Jin in Best Love’s Episode 3 by Ae-jung’s nephew. Ever since, Jin has been self-conscious about it, going so far as to cover up his face when talking to Ae-jung — it’s one of those things you may have never thought of, but once you see it, you just can’t un-see it.
I just love that the proud movie star is motivated to fuss with his appearance because of a crush on a girl. It’s exactly the thing Hwang Tae-kyung (Jang Geun-seok) did in an early episode of You’re Beautiful, when Mi-nyeo expressed a preference for his older hairstyle, only to have him immediately go to the salon to bring it back. And then go through verbal backflips to explain that he changed it because HE liked it, not because she had anything to do with it AT ALL. Can’t wait to see how Jin explains the change.
Granted, the 소 was much more pronounced in Athena (below, left), when it had practically had a life of its own. It actually doesn’t look so bad in Best Love, but I’ve been wanting to see him clean-shaven for so long that I’m doing a little happy dance now. Thank you, Hong sisters!

When CSW did his Armani ad earlier this year there's one shot with shaving cream covering his mustache and i was already thinking "geez this man looks real young without the mustache!!"
and now with the cow gone CSW looks like 10 years younger. who would think that he's a 40+ man??? just plain hotnessssssssssssssss

CSW is killin' it as DJ in "BL" - the manic laugh he does is over-the-top but so hilarious.
CSW needs to do away with that hairstyle (where the bangs are longer at one side); it's not a great look and he's had it for too long.

this plot device of disappearing facial hair reminds me of the same thing from ShaespeaREtold: Much Ado About Nothing.. I love it in that movie so I'm hoping I'll love it here.. but something tells me CSW alone would make it up for it.. <3<3<3

Even though I'm in the minority, I'm glad I'm not the only one mourning the death of CSW's facial cow hair. I didn't watch Athena but LOVED LOVED LOVED his 'stache in City Hall. Doesn't it just set him apart from other actors? I mean it's just so....manly! haha
After watching all of City Hall this weekend, I officially think CSW is the the SEXIEST man on the planet! So I'll take him with or without the facial hair :)

Well, my problem with Athena was that the main leads weren't sympathetic or believable characters -- I didn't really like them or care about what happened to them. But if you only watch the scenes with CSW, then it's an excellent drama! :)

i'm watching athena now (episode 9) i don't know if it's because i had so low expectations about it (with so many bad comments around) but i'm finding it very thrilling and entertaining... and CSW is soooooooo hot. hottest ever (seriously i can't focus when he's on screen)

thanks for sharing. i just rewatched CH before best love began. but you made me miss it: i want to watch it again.
the love story between Mi rae and Jo Guk is the best ever!!! and even when it had scenes that break my heart to pieces (though i love them) this drama is the only one that makes me happy. some dramas makes me laugh but when MR & JG are happy all i want is to laugh and clap and jump and smile... and i am happy with them!!!!!!

"The Kiss" is the kiss in the car episode 14. there are more kisses, and i love them all. but The Kiss is in episode 14. episode 14 also has the blocking the sun scene wich made me fall for Jo Guk and is similar to episode 4 ending of Best Love.
but you must watch all the episodes cause they're Great!!!!

Actually, I think the cow reference goes waaaaay back. Even in City Hall, Mi Rae tells a cow that it reminds her of someone... And there was a hilarious scene where CSW moo-ed, and it was NG-ed too as KSA burst out laughing!
City Hall was the first I saw of him and it's one of my favourites since, but trouble is he kept reminding me of Jo Guk while in Best Love. Shouldn't be a prob now.
