Stills released from You’re My Pet

Finally! Here’s our first look at stills from the set of the highly anticipated romantic comedy film You’re My Pet, starring Jang Geun-seok and Kim Haneul, due out later this year. I thought they were never going to make this movie. Seriously, it’s been eons since the project was announced, then halted, then restarted, but now we finally have proof — they’re making the movie, and it looks adorable.

Kim Haneul stars as a career woman who is awesome at all things but love, and decides on a rather unconventional tactic of getting a pet. Because yunno, why not? Jang Geun-seok plays a younger ballet dancer who dreams of making it big as a musical actor and choreographer. I’m not gonna lie — the setup still makes no sense to me, not being familiar with the original source material (a Japanese manga), but it sounds adorably quirky and cute.

Well apparently the mail-order-pet thing is real, because there’s Jang Geun-seok in a box, sitting on her doorstep. Like a little puppy. Either that or he’s got a homeless backstory or some bizarre drinking habit.

Judging from the stills, the film’s basically going to be buckets of cute. I mean, you’ve got a puppy in a box on a rainy day… how’re you going to turn that away? I can just hear him whimpering now…

Can't tell you how happy this whole set-up makes me.

There are few things to better the You're My Pet manga, and I thought that the Japanese drama did a good job, but JANG GEUN SEOK?!

Ahem. Is definitely the way to up the ante.

Thank you, whoever made this possible. Too bad it's not a drama. But maybe that just lets him move on to something even more fun sooner?

Seriously, JGS's insistence on his hair is aggravating my petty side. Especially when he looks so handsome with it short. This shouldn't bother me as much as it does. Which just bothers me more.

Normally pushiness here drives me nuts, but Manager / Stylist? Where are you?? Make. Him. Cut. His. Hair.

NOW.

That is all.

his hair is just right for the role, momo (his character) hair is long and curly. But I do hope he cut it after filming this.

Orly? Well. ......it should be longer then!

Ugh. I'd be willing to sacrifice authenticity to the original character. It's so bad. And I think it's so bad because I've seen it for so long, instead of his handsomer, shorter cut. I don't know about Momo, but JGS' hair this is not.

That last picture he looks like a girl... or really just too young for his actual age... I think it's the hair.

oh thank goodness they make a movie instead of a drama....then i am willing to give it a try (cause of the two great looking leads). I am bothered so much with the concept and the art work of original japanese manga.
I am big on gender equalization, but (in the manga) i can't stand looking a male character behaving like a true cat. He was Being fed upon, brushes his hair on her lap, walking with both hands & feet on the ground. it's so degrading. Yuck...
However, I know the adaptation to this movie probably will be much better.
P.S i mean no offense to the author of Kimi wo petto or the fans.

It looks like it is a fashion now that the lead actress is kind of a lot older than the lead actor, starting from Personal Taste!!

I think Mary's guy needs a haircut!!!

I am not getting these stills. The main reason why she takes him in, in the manga and the Jdrama, is that he has been beaten unconscious, he is thin and bedraggled and obviously at the end of his rope, so she feels pity and sorrow and the urge to help him. If he pops out of his little box all chipper and healthy, then why is he in the box in the first place, and what other reason, besides pervy ones, would she have for taking him in? The very premise no longer makes sense.
As Indy says, I have a bad feeling about this...

In the j-drama Sumire was hot, but not in the obvious undressed-showing-a-lot-of-skin-way, so in that way Kim Haneul looks (and maybe acts) a bit differently. Which I hope, remakes should bring something new to the table.

emmm..they change the story a bit from the j-dorama. momo was supposed to be hurt and unconscious and he was in the box because he was hiding himself there (i think...it's been a while since i first watch it). and isn't sumire someone cold and strict? she like someone from the office but being too tight to confess to him. and then there's momo...momo is just the cutest 'pet' ever. i remember there is this one scene where momo (matsumoto jun) being so cute waiting for sumire in front of the door, and bark...OMG...he is just sooo...cute and when he was starting to like sumire and jumped at her...sumire scolded him for being a sex-craving dog...kekekeke...oh, i think i should go and watch the dorama again...i miss Matsumoto Jun... and i can't wait to see Jang Guen Seok in the movie...he's a great young actor as well...

JGS really look like a "pet". I really won't mind adopting him so cute. :). A part of me wants him to portray a more mature role though. One that doesn't exploit his cuteness and prettiness. He's just too prerty sometimes that i get distracted. I want to see him really manly. Hehe. After military maybe? But that's far.

Oo I saw the jdorama of this. I liked it, very different & cute,w/ natural acting. The woman was beautiful, her eyes looked lovingly sorrowful. Matsumoto did well w/ his role. I wonder how this one will turn out.

Hope the story will be slightly different than the jdrama -- i mean yes the jdrama and the manga was very good, but I don't think I'd want to watch the same plot and characters for the third time... Lol. It'd get boring.

MatsuJun was phenomenal in KwP, i agree, JGS is gonna have a hard time reaching that standard. Though, I think Jun had the advantage of being a genuine teenager (18/19 years old) while filming KwP, and his real life personality at the time was still somewhat shy (he hadn't developed the diva/bitchy personality yet XD), while JGS is much much older.

Jun's dynamics with Koyuki also mirrored the show -- Koyuki treated him like an adorable younger brother during the drama's behind-the-scenes specials, and well; Jun was well-known for having a preference for older/motherly-like girls at that point of time. Their real-life chemistry probably spilled into the filming and that was why the drama was such a success.

We'll see how this goes... Still, I'm looking forward to the movie. Just... change that hairstyle please! More shaggy loose curls like MatsuJun's, and less coiffed Carrot-Top hair T_T

really exciting! looking forward to this version :) the stills are sooo cute!! but it's going to be tough, since Jun was the perfect Momo, and his chemistry with Koyuki was great! this one has a different appeal though, but I'm liking it! :)

Jun as a pet, just adorable!

momo ran away from home and was living at this place owned by a gay landlord that had a crush on him, but because he couldnt pay the rent and couldnt sell his body to the landlord, the landlord got some guys to beat him up. afterwards momo ran away and hid in a box that sumire found outside her apartment. when she saw that it was an injured person she bought him home to fix him up. when he asked her to let him stay, she figured that if she tells him to stay as a pet he would freak out and leave on his own, but to her dismay he agreed and happily stayed as a pet....momo

i hope that they can film this soon so that i can see a good remake of my favorite manga....i dont even care if they dont really follow the storyline too much since jang geun suk is such a cute momo =D

Kimi wa petto is one of my absolute favorite dramas. So I have mixed up feelings for this. I love Jang Geun Seok but I cannot imagine the movie ever coming close to the awesome of Momo och Sumire together. Sumire is my favorite japanese female MC and Matsujun is so incredibly cute as Momo. The music, the feeling, the way they have done something serious of something so silly. It's pure magic.
But I guess I shouldn't compare them but see them as different stories.
Everyone who hasn't seen the original jdrama should!

what is bothering me is the shorts

i never see (or maybe i've missed it) Sumire wear shorts, she was kinda a bit tomboyish for me and doesn't real give the feel of sexy...

but i'm gonna watch this since i'm great fan of the manga :D

Oh boy... I am YEARS late to this post. I laughed out loud at the comment about this movie being bucket loads of cute.
I watched the Japanese drama based on this which might have come out after this post. I don't know if it's the original story it's based on or how it was produced but it was really weird.... As in I got whip lash from the main girl seeing this boy as her pet, or being a mother figure, to them having sexual tension.
Long story short the Japanese drama was STRANGE
