First stills from Thousand Day Promise

Here’s our first look at upcoming drama Thousand Day Promise, with Su Ae and Kim Rae-won as lovers battling against time and memory. I’m ridiculously excited for this drama, despite the fact that it’s a melodrama and destined to be a tear-jerker. I LOVE Su Ae, and JB LOVES Kim Rae-won (I’m not allowed to love him. In fact I can only say his name three times in this article or else she’ll start a rampage.) so I think it’s safe to say we’re on pins and needles for this drama.

The latest drama by acclaimed screenwriter Kim Soo-hyun centers around a heroine struggling with memory loss (as in, her memory begins to deteriorate, not amnesia from the get-go). Kim Rae-won plays the stalwart boyfriend who stands by her side, as they struggle to hold onto their love. I think it’s a great premise, and one that’s similar to a story like Scent of a Woman, except it gets to explore significantly different themes. It’s a race against the clock, but in a different, and I think more compelling way.

And best of all, it’s been in production since late August, and the scripts are in for ten of the sixteen episodes. That means no rushing, no crap live shoots, no half-assed editing on the fly. The story is engaging, the cast is A-list, and I trust the writer. In a nutshell, most anticipated drama of the fall.

Thousand Day Promise follows Warrior Baek Dong-soo on SBS and premieres October 17.

Hahahaha! You two crack me up.
You definitely sold me on this... so psyched! Kim Rae Won is just so magnetic. I think the first thing I ever watched with him was Attic Cat. I know he won't disappoint w/ this. Pair him up w/ another pro like Su Ae, and I'm there.

Two of my favorite actors and I'm already sad - and Su Ae can pretty-cry like nobody's business....

Uh-oh. I'm doomed.

What's with the tearjerker theme this year? First 49 days, then Scent of a Woman, now this. Help. Water please.

Ironically 49 Days & SOA are two of my favorite dramas out this year, I'm more of a rom-com lover but I appreciate a good tearjerker. This drama looks good and the writer is solid too so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Haven't seen any of Soo Ae's drama or movie, so I cannot say much about her. I like Kim Rae Won, too and hope to watch a good drama from his fabulous acting. Doesn't matter if it is a tearjerker or rom com as long as KRW is there !

you have to see 9 ends two out...
so so so good. su ae is amazing in that drama. its a great drama; its about people whose 20s has just ended and theyre moving into their 30s.
i just entered my 20s and i still love this drama.
it has to do with that feeling of moving to a next stage of your life that is either going from high school to college or college to working in the real world.. and relationship (the whole nine yards)

I've been anticipating this so much that it's crazy! It has the A Moment to Remember premise with Son Ye-jin and Jung Woo-sung, while I loved and cried buckets watching the movie, maybe I'll be crying a river for this. I love them both and having them in one drama is just...

i loved soo ae ever since king of the sea, but idk who kim rae-won is so we'll seeee

Oh dang, when KRW cries I know I'll be bawling. It's like Kdrama version of "A Moment To Remember." Another series to stock up on Kleenex.

I'm pretty happy to see KRW fresh out of civic duties. I miss his beaming smile. I hope more stills release on a happier couple note.

WHOA! This came out of nowhere! This wasn't even in the radar but I'm excited for it! Unfortunately, it is a Kdrama I will need to wait until it finishes airing.

Wow, this came out of Kdrama. If anything, it reminds me a bit like "A Moment to Remember" which I am absolutely in love with. With that said, I've never heard of this Kdrama... it wasn't even in the radar for me but I am absolutely excited for it.

It's just too bad that I would need to wait until this finishes airing untiL i watch it. That is because I am done with watching Kdramas that haven't finished airing yet... my impatience gets the best out of me and it's almost torture.

As for the cast, I love Su Ae, but I'm not too familiar with Kim Rae Won. I saw his movie with Moon Geum Young whcih I enjoyed but hated the Kdramas that I've seen him in. =X

Been anticipating this one... I love Scent of a Woman and will prolly love this one too. Scent is the only drama so far I watched on live streaming and will prolly do so with TDP. SBS is on a roll so far, great hit dramas on board.

Ahhh, so excited for KRW's return! The cast is marvelous and the story a promise. The thing that attracts me the most about this drama (after KRW) is the pre-production detail. Quality over quantity! Can't wait~~!

Another tear-jerker? I'm still recovering from SoaW. My tear ducts can't take this anymore! At this rate I'll cry my eyes out and scare away all the (hot) potential hubbies with my blubbery-tear-face.

...Alas, I'm still in. Su Ae's hot. Just saying.

I loved A Moment to Remember but one of the disadvantages was the lack of scenes of them together at the end - dealing with her illness, etc... So I'm looking forward to this drama because the number of episodes should be enough to elaborate on this ... at least I hope so

Whoa? Ten episodes written? In production since last fall? If this drama is a ratings hit, we might just be looking at the beginning of the end for the crazy live-shoot schedule. Of course with a veteran writer at the wheel, they can't help but trust in the story and it's appeal to the audience.

Isn't it like A Moment to Remember extended edition? It should be nice and I like both the leads..

But, what's with all theses actors getting out of military and joining melodrama where they want to make us cry for hours???

Oh well... I think I'll take the chance to watch Kim Rae Won!!

With the latest plot developments in Baek Dong Soo, well let's just say that show's effectively ended for me. Sigh. Bring on A Kim Rae Won Moment to Remember!!!

Love the pictures (has that Love Letter vibe), and I'm looking forward to Soo Ae returning to her rightful throne as the Queen of Tears. If Choi Ji Woo idolized Moon So Ri, she would be Soo Ae.
