Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

I would like to send a big thank you to only1tony. I love reading your movie reviews. It is rare to find a good movie review or recap for any Korean movies, so I really appreciate all your effort. Thank you so much. I hope to see another movie review written by you soon.

I would like to thank HeadsNo2 for your recaps of Tree With Deep Roots. I thoroughly enjoyed your recapping style, which is what prompted me to give Padam Padam a chance. And I love it!

I'm sorry that I've been a silent admirer of yours all this time. While it would be nice to win this week's giveaway, I'm glad for the opportunity to show my appreciation. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more dramas recapped by you here at Dramabeans. :)

This works out perfectly as I have always wanted to thank HeadsNo2 for the Tree with deep roots recaps in EVERY recap but I only did so for a couple. I loved that show but there are so many things I would not have understood if it was not for your recaps. Thanks again.
P.S - I hope I can win this time.. *crosses fingers and taps on HeadsNo2's work desk*

I want to thank samsooki for writing the My Name is Kim Sam Soon recaps!! It let me relive one of my favorite dramas, without having to watch it all again (which I have done, but I didn't want to do it for the third time :) ).
Thank you guest bloggers and Dramabeans!!!

MANY THANKS to samsooki for recapping Sam Soon and City Hall. His recaps are spot-on and his personal thoughts/humor are like icing on the cake. Because of samsooki's recap of Sam Soon, I actually enjoyed it (and understood some of the cultural refrences/humor) more than I did when I actually watched it. Thanks, samsooki!

Thank you so much, javabeans, for setting up this website! I found it not too long after starting my Kdrama obsession, erm, love (hehe), and I've been hooked! Be it rain, snow, sleet, or hail, this site has been my go-to for pick-me-ups and just plain ol' good writing. Thanks for all the recaps, and hard work you've put into making this a haven for fans like me. Keep up the awesome work!

Thank you HeadsNo2 for Salaryman recaps. Too many dramas to watch so reading the recaps are great help. I'm thinking about watching it when the whole drama is done with english subtitles.

Also with Treewithdeeproots. Awsome. I usually read the recap first then watch the episode.

And to the others---thank you also! If not for you all recapping, I wouldn't have enjoyed some of the dramas as much or understand some of the puns. I come back here every day just to see what's going to be recapped.

Thanks to Samsooki, you'll be always missed!
I always curious about man's point of view of Kdramas, and he wrote interesting stuffs while he was here.
Too bad he can't write as often as we want ( or he wants, i think :D ) but I hope we will read some of his fab writings some time soon!

And of course some love for SANTA CLAUS!! ♥♥

I'm not a US/Canada's resident, and actually, I don't really need the iPod, but can you please..please..give me the songs instead?
I just have to learn from you girls how to choose great songs. I'd love to get the download link for those songs in a folder?
Thank you!!

Thank you gummimochi for recaps on the High Kick 3 series. The subs take foreverrr to come out, but I never panic because I know I have your recaps. I really enjoy them, so thank you for that.

I'd also like to thank HeadsNo2 for her Padam Padam Halftime report. I really thought nobody was watching such a great drama and then you wrote an awesome recap on it!Thank You

I want to thank Dahee_Fanel for doing her end of the year recaps. My taste in drama run more towards the bombastic and wildly improbable romance stories so it's always always awesome to see dramas that I ordinarily would not choose to watch or even think about. Thanks again!

The guest bloggers are all awesome, but I LOVE samsooki for being here and recapping MNIKSS and Chuno, which are both one of my favorites. His opinions are thoughtful, and his recaps are accurate. I think the fact that he's a guy is more interesting...

TBH, I never really cared for MNKISS. When he started to recap it back in August, he stated many of its accolades and critical receptions of it. After reading the recap of the first episode, I was sold. I watched the first episode and was instantly hooked and watched the whole thing. Thanks so much samsooki for finding me such a good drama!!!!! :D

Thank you so much to Samsooki for City Hall recap. Really really really love it, especially this one :

"And I’d like to thank everyone for being patient with me, as I had to take a break from recapping to attend to a preggers wife of my own (and no, she didn’t make throw-up faces like Joo-Hwa! But if I were living in k-drama land, how could I tell if she were pregnant?! Out pops a baby, and I would be like, “where did that baby come from, you never made the throw-up face…?”)

hahaha...

Thank you, HeadsNo2! Your "Tree with Deep Roots" episode reviews were eagerly looked forward to every week. All sageuks have the added difficulty of politicking to mentally maneuver through, and "Tree with Deep Roots" was especially tough. You elucidated a lot of the political language. I didn't know what "Mibon" meant for the first couple episodes and tried navering it, and that didn't work either. It was only through your review that I found out what it meant.....anyway, thank you so much :)

kaedejun, as well as many of the other guest bloggers throughout the years, thanks for helping feed my drama cravings along with javabeans and girlfriday and giving me your take on different shows! When I don't have time to watch certain series, some of the shows you cover are able to fill in the blanks for me. You've all been so helpful, because as we all know, time is never on anybody's side -__- I also enjoy seeing all the various takes on different shows at the end of the year, definitely very eye-opening!

A special shout-out to Santa Clause, who never fails to be quick with a joke ;)

Gummimochi, your prose is so wonderful that I didn't even realize that the Running Man recaps were written by a guest blogger, they fit in so well. True, I've never watched a single episode of RM, but I read every single one of your recaps, and I don't even do that for the dramas I actually watch. Thanks for your continued dedication and wit and everything.

Actually, every one of the guest bloggers is fabulous, but the one I'd thank first is HeadsNo2: Thank you for your amazingly detailed and well-written recaps! I feel like you articulate perfectly everything I feel when I watch a drama. To all the other bloggers: You make Dramabeans such a fun and fulfilling place! Every time I watch an episode of a drama I go back to read the recap, because it's so much fun to read all your commentary and analysis.
