Yoon Jin-seo headlines tvN romantic comedy

Yay, Yoon Jin-seo (Runaway: Plan B, Return of Iljimae) has been cast as the lead in a new rom-com miniseries for cable network tvN called Twelve Men in a Year, set to premiere next month. Yoon is delightfully funny and emotive, so I can’t wait to see her front and center in a romantic comedy tailored just for her. She’ll be playing a 29-year old woman who hits her Oh-frak-I’m-gonna-be-THIRTY-soon crisis, and decides to date twelve men during her last year of being twenty-something. Okay, I kind of love this premise. Will it be a new guy every month, or are there more rules to this game?
The story’s actually based on a 2005 German novel, Zwölf Männer hat das Jahr, by Martina Paura, and the synopsis for the drama says that she’ll date thirteen men in a year, so I’m guessing she goes through the full dozen before finding Mr. Right, or discovering that he’s right under her nose? Ohn Joo-wan (My Love By My Side) plays the hero, who has a complicated relationship with the heroine. Well I’d say it’s complicated, if she’s juggling twelve other guys all year long. Complicated but thoroughly entertaining, I gather.
Directing is PD Oh Jong-rok, of Piano and Style. tvN’s carving out a nice little niche of trendy dramas on the heels of two successful rom-coms I Need Romance and Flower Boy Ramyun Shop — the Oh! Boy series (with Shut Up: Flower Boy Band coming up next) in the teens/20s vein and this one in the thirtysomething vein of I Need Romance. So far I’m a fan of both, so we’ll see if it’s something they can continue with Round 2. Also, I can’t be the only one excited for the list of twelve hot guys Yoon Jin-seo gets to romance. May the cameo gods be kind.
Twelve Men in a Year premieres in February and airs Wednesdays-Thursdays on tvN.

I'm totally on board with this, just for Yoon Jin-seo alone. But I'm not gonna lie, the prospect of 12 or 13 hot men doesn't hurt, either. ^_^

My interpretation : He is the childhood friend secretly in love with her for years. She dates the men but since she finds them despicable, poor, ugly, uneducated, with bad artistic sense, with bad parents etc... She can't help but killing them. Poor guy has to make the bodies disappear and to erase evidences.

Or since he's the one in love with her, HE kills them off thinking they're no good. Or simply tampers with her dates each time.

Ooh... I like all of these ideas springing up: jealous best guy friend sabotages all the girl's dates; main guy managing to disguise himself (flawlessly) as twelve different looking hot men just to date girl.... Please let one of these ideas be! So much potential for hilarious antics!
But no matter what, I'm on that same boat of "Who will all twelve cameo men be?" And can we put in votes who possible candidates please? :D

Sounds interesting! I have a soft spot for Yoon Jin Seo even though I can't recall anything she's been in atm... I hope this drama has a nice 12 hot men for me to admire (drool over) :D

I'm not into the thirtysomething romances all that much, but I love the premise of this series. I hope the staff is working extra hard to land 12 different kdrama stars whose characters all seem perfect and then are hilariously shown to be Mr. Wrong. Bonus points if they work in meta-references to the celebrities' images and/or other roles as well!

I just looked up the book that this is based on and she dates the men according to the horoscope. Like Capricorn in janauary, Aquarius in February etc. and the men have the typical characteristics of their signs (exaggerated, of course). Don´t know if the Drama will do the same, but it sounds like fun!

I absolutely ADORE this woman! So so pleased she is finally the lead in something. Still haunted from her portrayal in Oldboy too.
Like the premise too, quirky twist and hope it is a success to continue her upward trajectory in dramas :-)

This drama sounds a bit similar to the 2008 Chinese romantic comedy "Fit Lover" starring Karena Lam, minus the supernatural...

Yoon Jin-seo is really IT. She is always spot on; in period pieces, in quirky or intense sexy roles (Secret Love).
She's gorgeous and cute but not in that infuriating infantilised fashion so popular with k-stars.
This drama sounds promising - if they have the courage to go with the spirit of the original material.
Read it a few years ago; she's a horoscope writer and it's not really dating - she has sexual flings with a man of each zodiac sign. Some are one-night-stands.
I do hope they stick close to the material - no dating à la "Heartstrings" or "City Hunter" allowed!
They have got to get handsy for this to work.

The only time I have seen Yoon Jin-seo is in a music video that she did together with Bae Soo Bin (whom I am a big fan of). She rocked in this 5-minute video ... the MV, for anyone interested, features a fabulous song "Threads of your Clothes" by a duo not new in the music industry. Iif you go to Youtube and type in "M signal 1st mini album" you'll be in for a treat, IMHO :)

well, i just ordered me a copy of the book...let's see if it#s any good... after all it's the first drama i know of that is based on a german novel (with an excruciatingly ugly cover) so i'll able to actually read it (and not have to learn korean first).... but than again even if its horribly acted or just bringing me to tears with boredom or stupid plot, i will watch it and i will drool at the pretty... after all you can just mute it and listen to some good music while having some eyecandy ^^

This seems very similar to a bollywood movie I have seen. The story was about a young man who was told he had to get married and decided that he would pick a girl out of 12. Each girl would represent a sign from the zodiac.(One actress played all 12 signs.) He would seem to hit it off with each one, until something (like a lie, quirky habit) came up. It wasn't the greatest movie but it was very enjoyable ^_^
