Kim Jaejoong joins Time Slip Dr. Jin

Kim Jaejoong (Protect the Boss) has been cast in the upcoming time-travel-medical-historical drama Time Slip Dr. Jin starring Song Seung-heon, in what will be the singer-actor’s first sageuk role to date. The manga adaptation features a Doogie-esque hero who travels back in time 150 years, where he learns that maybe there’s more to being a doctor than a massive IQ. Because apparently that’s not something you can learn after 1860. But… how will we know he’s a TV doctor if he’s not wearing the shiny white labcoat and model-strutting down the hall with two rows of interns at his sides?

Jaejoong will be playing Kim Kyung-tak, the descendant to a long line of master swordsmen, and the best warrior of his generation. He’s competitive and prideful, but he also has a softer, innocent side: his character has a single-minded devotion to his first love. Sigh, don’t they all? He’ll be going head-to-head with the hero Dr. Jin, though I’m wondering how literal that could be. Will the scalpel-wielder be picking up a sword and vice versa? Or are they just going to be fighting over a girl?

With all the time travel in dramaland these days, it’s a wonder we’re not going to end up with a prince on a proposal mission, a high school student as a doctor, and a neurosurgeon living on a rooftop. Fourth dimension’s a tricky thing, boys. Don’t get stuck in each other’s wormholes. Oh. Ew. I just grossed myself out.

Time Slip Dr. Jin is currently being shopped at cable networks, with reports that it’ll find a home at Channel A.

Those 2 together on screen might be too much pretty to contain! Who are the ladies?....

Honestly, I really wish he'd stick to singing. He's been the weak point in every drama of his I've watched.

I actually stopped watching Protect the Boss because of him, though I did make it to Episode 10. I've just never been a fan - his acting has always came off as very bland to me, like Kim Hyun Joong, only a little less irritating. I'm not a huge fan of K-pop either, though I always did love TVXQ (and now JYJ) so I really just wish he'd stick to singing. That is something I feel he's actually talented in.

And I didn't come to this decision lightly: I tried watching Heaven's Postman (but dropped it, again, because of him; and didn't make it through more than three episodes of his Japanese drama Sunao ni Narenakute either). I never went out actively seeking series he appeared in... I always just stumbled across them accidentally, and was continuously disappointed.

And personally, I require more than eye-candy in my dramas. If I want to look at a hot guy, I can just use google. ;)

The weak point in Protect the Boss? XD
He was a main point in the drama.
He was good and his character strong.

To be fair he's done the right thing to build his acting chops by acting as second male to strong actors. Much better than you know who and other younger idol types that leap straight to lead roles cos of company placement and fail miserably cos they can't carry a drama.

Dude, there's going to be way too much pretty but not enough talent in this drama *oops. Say what you want, but I don't want to just see pretty people when I watch dramas. You can be as pretty as whoever you want but unless you can act, I'm not coming any closer.

The sad thing is you underestimate Jaejoong's acting skills just because of his pretty face.

This happens in his singing career too, people who doesn't know him enough sees him as the face of his group, but they forget he is also the main singer.

His pretty face is like a sin sometimes :/

No, simply because I didn't enjoy his performance in Protect the Boss. It was off somehow. Maybe because he was up against Choi Kang-hee and Ji Sung who were brilliant, he just isn't up to par with them. Is he horrible? No. But is he brilliant? No either. And if you say I underestimate Jaejoong's acting abilities just because of his pretty face, that's not saying much either because I'm aware there are many great actors with pretty faces but also many pretty faces that aren't so great of an actor.

This is a "MUST" watch drama since SSH & KJJ are in it. But it would be so difficult to pick the female lead! I really don't want to watch PMY again. But I don't mind to watch Han Hyo Joo again.

When will it be aired?
