The King gets name change, begins script reads

The new drama starring Ha Ji-won and Lee Seung-gi, formerly titled The King, has undergone a name change which just makes me scratch my head: the drama will now be called King 2 Hearts. Really? Really, Show? Does it not matter to you that YOU MAKE NO SENSE? Sigh.
I guess they’re going for a deck of cards theme, like a king and a two of hearts, but that doesn’t make it any better. You could at least have gone with King of Hearts or something that didn’t look like a text message gone wrong. Is it asking too much to just come up with a friggin’ title that makes sense in Korean, instead of mangling two languages in the process? You’re breakin’ mah heart, Show, and you haven’t even begun!
The photos from the script read show the leads getting into character, alongside supporting actors Yoon Jae-moon and Lee Yoon-ji. I’m just glad Seung-gi finally got a haircut, ’cause he’s been sporting some questionable ‘dos on 1 Night 2 Days. The drama takes place in an alternaverse where Seung-gi is a prince (so… not really that bizarre a bizzaro-world) and Ha Ji-won the North Korean intelligence agent-turned-professor engaged to be his princess bride (okay, I take it back). Obviously it’s a political marriage, but they’ll find that politics doesn’t necessarily preclude romance.
The 20-episode King 2 Hearts follows The Moon That Embraces the Sun in mid-March on MBC.

What the heck is King 2 Hearts? Are we playing cards? It sounds so weird. Just hope the drama will be good. I can ignore calling the weird name.

According to a news article, the drama title ‘King 2hearts’ is not 100% finalized yet. With the current title, the PD is trying to emphasize two points – SeungGi’s role in the drama being the King of South Korea and ‘two people’s love’ between SeungGi and JiWon. But because the drama is already well-known in the media as ‘The King’, they are considering adding ‘The’ back to the title, with ’2hearts’ being the subtitle.

there is just something about LSG that just doesn't excite me at all. i'm kinda disappointed in his casting. oh well..i'll give it a shot but i could even barely get through his other dramas.

i heard moon embraces the sun will have a 4 episode extension. i am willing to watch this drama but i am going to start like 2 weeks into its premire just because i will be suffering from moon embrace the sun and kim soo hyun withdrawal symptoms. it would not be fair to watch "king 2 hearts" because i will be watching lsg thinking about kim soo hyun and how much i miss his smile and face.

This show I want to like it but the plot reminds me of Myungwol The Spy but monarchy version.
and that drama totes ruined the whole star-crossed lovers from the North-South plot line for me.
I'll give episode 1 a go though.

well, trust the native koreans to create something new in korglish.
I am really not sure about lee seung gi and ha ji won together. isnt she like really really much older? Not that I dun like her but I just hope the script makes it work out.

Seriously, i was indifferent towards this drama until Seunggi was announced as the lead. I really hope the first episode will pleasantly surprise us by how it turns like what happen with City Hunter. I want to like it~

I like both lead actor and actress and so I am going to give this drama a try...but I have a feeling that the chemistry between them may be questionable because LSG is and LOOKS younger than HJW...
And after City Hunter came into my life, I am sure of one thing - it will take a lot for another modern drama to capture my imagination and attention as much as City Hunter did - and this drama being a period drama will definitely have to work really hard to overtake Return of Iljimae's place in my heart as the period-drama that is unforgettable.

City Hunter was good until they focused so much on "Nana". every damn episode he's always saying "nana". and she serves no purpose at all. she is the lead female character yet she doesn't really do anything at all.

No drama is perfect, and City Hunter is no exception, and there are many aspects to the drama that could have been better done, but as I have said it in the recaps of the drama when it was being aired, I chose NOT to focus on the flaws because to me the awesome aspects of the drama far outweigh the not-so-awesome ones... ;)

Hi Kay! Dont we all miss the City Hunter days? Its really hard to meet such a drama again, I've yet to encounter one.
I love Seunggi to bits, so i'm really hoping this drama will turn out good. His Girlfriend Gumiho is one of my alltime favourite drama as well.
More than the chemistry between Seunggi and HJW, I'm worried about the story and the quality of the drama as a whole. I've never seen any of the previous works by the writer, but from the comments here, they were not a good one.
regarding Seunggi and HJW, i think Seunggi has the charm where I can see he has chemistry with whoever he's paired with. The nuna-love he had so far, with Shin Mina, with Kim Sa Rang in his MV, with Chae Yeon in his variety show, all win the hearts of many people. So i'm sure this one will be no exception as long as they keep Seunggi's character in the drama younger than HJW and not one where we are supposed to believe he's older than her (Please dont!!)
And this is a modern drama not a period drama. So dont worry, it will not compete with ROI for your heart. Hopefully this will be good enough though, so i can spazz with you again.

Indeed! City Hunter was a one-of-a-kind drama - as mentioned by Girlfriday and Javabeans - a drama possessing the rare qualities that make a drama awesome - the trifecta - awesome writing, directing and acting.
I can't agree with you more about how much I LOOOOVE My Girlfriend is a Gumiho because of the utterly adorable chemistry between LSG and SMA and the heartwarming storyline, and you are right - LSG has had great chemistry with his leading ladies in the 2 dramas that he acted in, which I have watched - MGIAG and Shining Inheritance - and so I am hoping to see the chemistry between him and HJW in this drama as well.
I also agree with you about having doubts about the story because its being written by writers whose works I have not watched so I am going to wait and see a few episodes and decide after whether or not I am going to follow it till the end...and if you are also following it till the end, then we can spazz together again - that is IF our lovely ladies, Javabeans and/or Girlfriday, are recapping the drama here. ;)

I'm somewhat sceptical of this drama, though I do like Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi as leads. Still, I don't expect much from this because Myung Wol The Spy really ruined the spy-theme for me. And haven't we had enough of those arrogant princes. I'm just gonna wait and see about this one...
