Eom Ki-joon joins cyber thriller Ghost

Just when I thought Ghost was out of the pageant, it reels me back in with Eom Ki-joon. Drat! I love Eom Ki-joon! I don’t know if I love him enough to endure the So Ji-sub / Lee Yeon-hee competition for saddest puppy, but it’s certainly an uptick on my expectation meter for this drama, which was kinda hitting sub-zero.
Eom’s last role was in Scent of a Woman, where he played the awesome Dr. Poopypants who nursed his broken heart with some tango. It’s not as weird as it sounds. Or is it? I really wanted that character to get his own drama. Wouldn’t that beat any of the ten thousand medical dramas due out this spring? But I digress.
Ghost will be a thriller procedural about an elite cyber investigation unit, with So Ji-sub as the cold gruff hero and Lee Yeon-hee as the department’s pretty face (that’s her character description, I swear). No word yet on Eom’s character, or if he poops his pants this time.
It’s being helmed by the PD/writer team behind last year’s Sign, and premieres in late May on SBS.

Argh!! I love Uhm Ki-joon which means that I'll at least catch an episode or two to see him, but I kind of want to avoid Lee Yeon-hee in a drama. I still shudder from the encounter I had with her from the beginning of East of Eden. *Must scrub memory out of mind*
Maybe So Ji-sub's hotness and Uhm Ki-joon's talent and awesomeness will make the show bearable for a little bit.

Yes, NOW I am interested. I wish that people who made dramas would read this so they would know THIS MAN NEEDS HIS OWN SHOW AND TO GET THE GIRL!!!!! I mean, really, did anyone see his turn in Can't Lose?!?!? Anytime I am rady for him to come between husband and wife who everyone knows should get back together . . . even the husband likes him in this show.

PoopyPants should definitely have a spin-off drama. It would be sooo good. Even if it's short or whatever. I would watch it.

I agree that he could do the lead, but I think the network will always cast a BIG name first.
He doesn't show any films on his CV, but he does stage work, right, which really trains you well for TV.
And seriously, without him, I feel like the writers were all like, "Shmidt! Whatta we gonna do with this cast?"
With him, they suddenly gets sparks of all the really bad stuff they can put him through because he suffers brilliantly.

Yeah, I've read that he has done musicals and plays which is always impressive to me.
And indeed, I think what we have here is a drama in which they try to pull in all those people who are about to object with that ONE person we all like. At the last minute too. Clever, clever. And I hate that BIG name as the lead thing they have going sometimes. It bugs me when I feel the secondary character is doing a much better job. Like why aren't you Mr./Mrs. Top-Spot right now?

this news made my day :))) because i love Eom Ki Joon in dream high and SOAW
and EKJ + favorite actor SJS = perfection
i'm really happy, i can't get why people say SJS can't act, you just have to watch him in MISA, where he outshines so many wonderful actors, or rough cut where he stole the show (even if KJW was great), and i'm not going to start with WHIB (cause my scars are still hurting)
anyway i'm dying to see them working together :))))))

EKJ is such a talented actor and singer. He never disappoints in any role he portrays. One of my favorite actors.
Why isn't he getting more lead roles instead of second leads?Why is his claim to fame is that of Dr. Poopypants although he was hilarious in Scent of a Woman and Dream High!!!
Sounds like an interesting drama with EKJ on board on Ghost. He can act circles around SJS.
