The King 2 Hearts’s poster and trailer

The first official poster is out for MBC’s The King 2 Hearts, which has finally fixed (again) on a title after changing it a jillion times. The funny thing? Each change was minuscule, accompanied by some nonsense explanation that (1) totally overexplained, (2) and yet explained nothing, like we were in a merry-go-round of nitpickery.
In case you’re keeping track: It went from King [킹] to The King [더킹] to King 2hearts [킹투허츠] to The King 2 Hearts [더킹 투허츠] to The King 2 Hearts [더킹 투하츠]. If you’re wondering what the hell is the difference between the last two: hardly anything. It just went from phonetically spelling out huh-chu for hearts, then changing it to ha-chu.
(Apparently the production felt people were having too much trouble pronouncing huh-chu, thereby changing it to ha-chu. I’m not sure if they think we’re all idiots, or if there actually exists a large contingent of angry, internet-savvy pronounciation nazis out there who care deeply about the proper way to transliterate a foreign word. IN A TITLE THAT SUCKS ANYWAY.)
Anyway. Ahem. The drama stars Lee Seung-gi as the king of South Korea in a fictional world where the monarchy still exists. Ha Ji-won is a North Korean spy who falls in love with him, giving us Goong: Shiri meets Myung-wol. Or something.
Here’s the trailer, which is a lot more serious than I was anticipating:
So maybe it’s more like Goong: Shiri meets Myung-wol and becomes Daemul of The Royal Family. I wasn’t actually thinking The King would be a romantic comedy, because the writers (the “other Hong sisters”) don’t hew comedic. Their past dramas have been dramatic, with music-centered Beethoven Virus and idol-wannabes-in-training Over the Rainbow being the most recent entries on their resumés. It’s for that reason that I’m also, sadly, pretty uninterested in this drama, even though the actors are charismatic and the plot sounds eventful. But unless the writers have recently learned how to build up angst without dragging out plodding plotting, I just can’t get excited.
On the upside, Lee Seung-gi and Ha Ji-won look gorgeous together in the poster. And her long angled bob is pretty awesome. (Yay for no more mullets!)
The King 2 Hearts follows The Moon That Embraces the Sun, meaning its premiere just got delayed a week to March 21.

Judging from the stills, I think this drama will have a fair share of comedy.

Her hair is killing me. I'm going to be so distracted in every scene that she's in uniform, complaining to my computer screen. Who really doesn't care, by the way.

I'm a former military brat. I feel your pain. After years of watching my parents be very meticulous about their military appearance; hair laying on collars, mini skirts, five inch heels and errors in rank are about as distracting as a booger gone rogue.

EGGS-actly. It's ok, we'll watch it and then either on the recaps (if done) or on the OT, we'll just catch each other's eye and go 'Hmph.' and answer back 'I know, right? Couldn't believe I actually saw that.' and we'll know what we're being all crotchet-y about like old ladies, and not bother anyone else while they swoon about his no-longer-missing forehead and her ability to do her own stunts.
Man...I just imagined her doing wire work to cross the DMZ, non-reg hair flying in the breeze, BDUs cut to showcase her femininity, combat heels poised juuuuuuust so...

I still can't get over the title, nor the promise of the plot, so I think I'll just wait for the recap.

Indeed, I'm finally turning to this drama is because HJW, if it just only because of LSG, I think I'll left this drama since they put that title '2 hearts' because..yes I'll said it once more..sound lame

I watched the photo shoot link posted at #51 and I have to ask... why are they putting such (in my opinion) a child-like hair accessory on a 30- something woman? I have noticed this in other dramas too.

Trailer was uber intense... and can I say, how much do I LOVE the fact that Ha-Ji Won's a super kick-ass female lead? Like seriously, she's so fugging amazing xD

Over the Rainbow v. You're Beautiful?
You're Beautiful wins hands down--shows the dirty underbelly of the industry and how hard it is. Plus the music was better.
Beethoven's Virus v. Greatest Love/You're Beautiful)?
You're Beautiful/Greatest Love. You had the uptight jerk in You're Beautiful/Greatest Love. (One is clearly an older version of the same character). But at the same time you couldn't quite hate them 100%.
(Plus it's a better use of Jang Geun Seok in You're Beautiful, which is clear.)
I would hope these Hong Sisters would do some kind of romantic comedy so they don't focus all on the sad makjang from nowhere in the plot. Because it would force them to grow as writers and maybe think hard about where the emotion comes from.
Still, I think unless Rooftop Prince does something horribly wrong, it'll win in the ratings bid next. I'll still glance at this drama though, time to time. Not betting on it though I like the leads.

OooOoooOooo ~ ~ I am looooking forward to this drama cuz' of my best top favorite actress Ha Ji Won, woot woot! But, ugh, I can't believe that this date is already postponed to March 21 because of other historical drama "MoonSun" suddenly cancelled this week, oh geez......=/ (shakes head) Why? Why? I thought I might have my own best luck to watch this next week for my spring break from my college...but....I can't believe that....(sniffles)....It's gone.....my best luck.....is....GONE!!!

Im getting realyl bored with the whole north korean spy falls in love with someone theme... sad when this drama has actors that i like a lot cast in it. Let's see. If i hear good stuff about it i'll watch and if not im not going to bother...

Ha Ji Won never fails to look pretty... And whooh..so happy her hair's grown now, she became prettier and girlier than before!!!! ;DDD
And speaking of the new drama...
I'm so excited that "Korean-monarchy-in-the-modern-times" - themed drama has finally come back!!! This will be a great hit I'm sure...
PS: Of course, who am I to forget Lee Seung Gi??? ....

on another note, the thing the SMW was lacking, at least I think, was the correct balance between comedy and dramatic tension (They couldn't make up their minds what kind of series it was), maybe this will be able to solve that issue

Okay, I'm just gonna say it: Seung-gi looks so CUTE in his army gear! This trailer looks overly serious so, even though I love Seung-gi, I probably won't watch it. It reminds me too much of Myung-wol the Spy. And we all know what an epic fail that turned out to be.

Ermagawd... apparently the writers are sneezing their way thru this drama while playing cards. The title is a no-no, but story-wise, i friggin loved it.
