Both hero and villain step it up a notch with the scheming, which sends our pendulum swinging back and forth a few times. Also, it is pretty satisfying to watch our baddies unraveling a bit at the seams… even if I am super greedy and want a lot more unraveling. Come on, comeuppance!

EPISODE 16 RECAP
Yi Gak, dressed as comatose Tae-yong, “wakes” up in the hospital bed and calls out to his hyung. The shock sends Grandma into a faint, and Tae-mu looks like he’d like to join her in unconsciousland, except now he has to deal with this complication. And it’s a lot worse than dealing with an impostor, because now he’s facing reckoning for his own crimes.
“Tae-yong” asks why he’s here, then looks down at his hand and realizes he forgot to take off his couple ring. He moves his hand under the cover before Tae-mu notices, and feigns a headache to cut this scene short.
The ducklings hurry the real Tae-yong out of the hospital and into an ambulance, just in time to avoid being spotted by Tae-mu. How did they get their hands on an ambulance? This seems like a dubious plan, but considering the security in this place it’s likely they’ll be okay.
Despite fearing that Yi Gak disappeared into nothingness, Park-ha clings to hope and waits at their date location. It’s not until nighttime that she finally heads back home, fighting back her fear that he’s leapt back in time.
Thus she perks up to find the lights on at home, and she calls out for the guys. But nobody’s home, and she starts to cry. “Is nobody home? Did you leave?”
In the morning, Tae-yong/Yi Gak awaits his discharge with Pyo Taek-soo, who’s in on the scheme, and the three minions. Yi Gak will move into Grandma’s house, while Taek-soo will house the boys, since they can’t exactly go back to the rooftop now that the first version of Tae-yong has been outed as an impostor.
Taek-soo gives them a strong warning to keep their mouths shut to everyone, because they can’t risk someone finding out. The boys worry about Park-ha, but Taek-soo forbids them from talking to her.
At Yi Gak’s request, Taek-soo takes him to see the real Tae-yong, who has been admitted to a different hospital. He wonders if his reincarnation called him here, thinking that watching Tae-yong lying there unconscious is like looking upon his own death. He promises to right the injustice that put Tae-yong in this position, and promises to protect his place till he comes back.
Now the question is what to do with Tae-mu. Taek-soo advises moving swiftly to evict him from the company, but Yi Gak says they should leave him for the time being—they need him if they want to collect evidence that he tried to kill Tae-yong. His tactic: “If you set a fire in a fox hole, the fox will emerge on its own.”
Yi Gak shows up at the company and meets Tae-mu in the lobby, greeting him in a friendly, familiar way, talking with the modern syntax he’s been practicing. He’s gotten a pretty good idea of how to play the relationship convincingly; for instance,. he says he still doesn’t have an interest in working for the company, which is a very Tae-yong-esque thing to say.
Tae-mu likes the way this is unfolding, though he treads lightly just in case. He asks about the accident, and that’s the one thing “Tae-yong” can’t quite recall. It’s not amnesia like before, but the actual injury is a mental blank for now. Yi Gak laughs it off as frustrating, and Tae-mu asks how much he remembers leading up to it.
Yi Gak: “Do you mean about us meeting in America?” Uh-oh, that makes Tae-mu nervous as he asks, “Do you remember that?” Yi Gak acts surprised: “Then does that mean we met? You said we didn’t. I’m saying that I don’t remember us meeting in America.”
So Tae-mu sticks to his story that the meeting never took place. He has the worst poker face ever, but Yi Gak is playing softball, lulling him into a false sense of security.
Park-ha worries about the continued absence of her housemates and goes to the company to check in. Taek-soo says that he’s worried, too, since none of them have shown up for work. He tells her that the real Tae-yong showed up, and that afterward, the foursome disappeared.
The wording of that just solidifies her fears, and she says, “Then they must have returned to Joseon after all.”
On her way out, she passes by Tae-mu in the lobby, who gives her a particularly close look, since she’s about to come face to face with Tae-yong. Park-ha spots Yi Gak and gives him a long, intense look—but Yi Gak moves on without letting recognition show. He can’t betray anything in front of Tae-mu, of all people.
But once he’s out of sight, he races through the corridor to get a glimpse of her leaving, pained at the hurt she must be feeling.
Tae-mu returns to his office to find a new fax. All it has written on it, in large letters, is: “MURDERER. LIAR.” Shaking, he hides the fax from Yi Gak, who doesn’t let on that he registers hyung’s panic.
Tae-mu recalls the previous Imposter Tae-yong calling him those things, and the words ring ominously in his memory. He guesses that the Impostor is still hanging around somewhere, blackmailing him, since Impostor has a pretty good idea that Tae-mu’s a guilty bastard.
Yi Gak returns to the rooftop penthouse to pick up one of his key bits of evidence: Tae-yong’s phone, which he had safely tucked away under his bed. On his way out, he spies Tae-mu entering the apartment to do some snooping and slips away quietly.
Yi Gak thankfully leaves the premises just in time to avoid being spotted by Park-ha as well, who arrives moments later. She finds Tae-mu ransacking the place, looking for clues, and demands to know what he’s doing. He tells her that he’s looking for the four con men, since he’s also a victim of their scam, just like she is. She retorts that she wasn’t a victim of anything and insists that he leave.
Yi Gak heads to Pyo Taek-soo’s home, where he finds the ducklings and gives the go-ahead to enter into the next phase of the plan. They ask if he’s sure he wasn’t followed here, but everyone freezes when the doorbell rings. Could it be…?
And then Yong-sool breathes, “The pizza’s here.” HA! The boys scramble for the door, then dig into the pizza. Yi Gak reaches for a piece, but Chi-san stops his hand—how far their Joseon manners have come—and says that there’s only enough for four people, and they have to leave some for Taek-soo. Put out, Yi Gak huffs that he won’t eat, then.
The boys are cooped up with no change of clothes, since Taek-soo’s stuff is all the wrong size. Yi Gak offers to take them shopping next, perking them up considerably, and tries to sneak a slice of pizza while they’re in a good mood. Out shoot three pairs of hands to block him. Pfft.
Yong-soo’s slice falls to the rug, and in annoyance he snaps at Yi Gak, “Argh, really!” To the prince. Who spared his life. I wonder if he’s keeping tally of all the little slights they’ll have to repay once they’re back home…
Out shopping they go, and the boys pick out… capri pants and matching T-shirts? What about the whole don’t-attract-attention-and-stay-out-of-sight rule? On the upside, I do love their sartorial co-dependence, always needing to match.
Tae-mu and Se-na meet that night, both on edge. Se-na wonders why Jang Sun-joo requested to see her, and he supposes that it’s because of her daughter In-joo—they must make sure to keep Park-ha away.
When she meets Jang Sun-joo in her suite, Se-na explains that she was merely acting on Tae-mu’s orders and apologizes for her behavior. She returns the ring and puts on her soberest, meekest face. But Jang Sun-joo just wants to know one thing: Where is In-joo?
Se-na says she truly doesn’t know. When asked about the story about Dad resting her on his stomach—which Jang recognizes as true—Se-na says it’s something she heard on the radio, which is enough to deflect suspicion.
Park-ha returns to the company, where she watches Yi Gak closely and is struck with familiar details—like Yi Gak’s signature hands-behind-back stance of authority. When he pulls his phone from his pocket, she sees his couple ring clattering to the ground and rolling her way.
She picks it up and recognizes the ring with relief. She mutters, “You’re so dead,” and when he walks down a corridor, she grabs him out of sight and confronts him.
She glares, but Yi Gak grabs her close and tells her, “I missed you.” Calling him an idiot and crying, she asks, “Did you think I wouldn’t recognize you?”
He says, “Now that I’ve seen you, my heart feels much more at ease.” They stand there holding each other for a long moment, which is simultaneously sweet and nerve-wracking, since I’m yelling at them to hide before they’re seen. They sit in the stairwell for a while, until they decide it’s time they go their separate ways, albeit reluctantly.
Yi Gak stops her to give her one last kiss goodbye, saying, “Thank you believing in me.” Park-ha returns his ring and warns him not to go around losing it anymore.
Yi Gak takes advantage of a spare moment to search Tae-mu’s office for clues, which is when he sees that photo in his desk. He recognizes baby Park-ha with her father, which she’d previously shown him. He starts to reach for the photo to look at the mother’s image, but Tae-mu enters so Yi Gak stops the search and plays off his presence as a casual visit.
A courier drops off a package for Tae-mu, and Yi Gak watches him open the box… to find an enlarged photo of the picture from Tae-yong’s cell phone. The one of the cousins in New York the day before the attempted murder. It prompts more jarred nerves.
Grandma gathers the cousins for lunch and tells Tae-mu that all the friction is water under the bridge now; she wants them all to get along. Great Aunt comes in with a recent delivery, and Tae-mu recognizes the distinctive packaging, since it’s identical to the box he just received.
Tae-mu grabs for the box and offers to open it in the other room, while Yi Gak notes his growing panic. Great Aunt swats his hands away and opens the box herself, finding a photo frame inside, which sends Tae-mu’s blood pressure skyrocketing. But there’s no reaction from the family, and Yi Gak takes the frame to wonder innocently, “Who could have sent us a picture of a puppy?” Tae-mu practically collapses in relief.
Then as Tae-mu is driving, he answers a call from an unknown number. “Did you receive my delivery?” Yi Gak asks into the pay phone, speaking in his Yi Gak voice to identify him as the Impostor. Tae-mu demands to know what he wants, and Impostor points out that Tae-mu ran him off. He leaves him with the chilling statement, “What do you think I’d want? Think it over.”
Yi Gak’s phone booth is close enough that he can observe Tae-mu in his car. When Tae-mu comes by in search of his blackmailer, he finds the phone booth matching the phone number, which is just a stone’s throw away from the rooftop penthouse. “Of course,” Tae-mu realizes, “He was here, that rat bastard.”
Tae-mu storms up to the rooftop and yells for the Impostor to show himself. He demands that Park-ha, who’s out on the roof, order the con man outside, which she naturally knows nothing about.
Tae-mu barges in anyway, but finds nothing. Furious, he throws plants and stands over and gives Park-ha the message to pass along: Show himself, instead of hiding like a rat.
From a distance, Yi Gak watches Tae-mu’s rampage with alarm, particularly since it has Park-ha cringing in fear. He stops himself from charging in, watching helplessly.
After Tae-mu has overturned all the patio furniture (you’d think he’d get more satisfaction out of destroying the interior), Park-ha gets a string of text messages from “Dummy ♥.” She cheers up and heads out, pretending not to see Tae-mu staked out nearby watching her leave, which suggests that this is part of a larger ploy.
Park-ha heads to the subway station, followed by Tae-mu, who seems to think he’s doing a good job being inconspicuous. He follows her into the subway car at a short a distance, but reacts too slowly when Park-ha darts out at the last second. Off the train goes with Tae-mu in it, leaving Park-ha and Yi Gak standing on opposite platforms, facing each other.
Yi Gak had requested that Park-ha bring her family photo, so he can confirm that her torn picture is the same one in Tae-mu’s keeping. The question: Why would he have it?
Park-ha asks him to take a picture of Tae-mu’s photo so she can see her mother’s face, and he agrees. Taking her hand in his, Yi Gak advises her to be wary of Tae-mu’s surveillance, and they urge each other to be careful.
Park-ha tells her mother about the other photo, wondering where it could have come from. Mom muses that it could have been supplied by her birth mother, and that stops them both short—does this mean Park-ha may be able to find bio-mom?
Park-ha meets with Tae-mu and gets right to the point, slapping down her photo and saying that she knows he’s got a copy of it. He plays it cool, pretending not to know what she means, even when she demands to know who gave it to him and where her mother is.
Tae-mu offers her a deal: Tell him where the Impostor is first. Park-ha scoffs, leaving without another word. Clearly this tactic will not work.
Se-na sits down for dinner at home with Mom, who tells her about the picture and how Park-ha may get to meet her birth mother after all. Mom is happy for her, which is the opposite of Se-na’s reaction; she immediately hurries to tell Tae-mu of this development. Since the photo gives Park-ha the link she needs, they burn it. Thus when Yi Gak sneaks into Tae-mu’s office the next day, he finds the photo gone.
Of course, Park-ha could just show her ripped photo to bio-mom, which is basically what I’m shouting at her to do all through her conversation with Jang Sun-joo that night. Park-ha explains that she may have a chance to locate her birth mother, but she’s afraid of hurting her stepmother’s feelings, who accepted her so warmly after she found out her father had died.
She wonders if she should perhaps give up the search, but Jang Sun-joo senses that that’s not what Park-ha really wants. She adds that she wishes her daughter would look for her too, since it’ll be a lot easier if both sides are actively seeking each other.
The two mothers meet, both feeling a bit low for different (though related) reasons. Jang Sun-soo says she’d like to take Se-na with her back to Hong Kong, wanting to reveal their relationship after all despite promising Mom she wouldn’t.
Jang Sun-joo is ready to give up her search for In-joo, but she wants to do something for Se-na as a proper mother. She apologizes for the change of heart, but Mom gives her permission, saying it’s for Se-na’s benefit.
Se-na arrives at the hotel to meet her, and overhears a phone conversation where Jang Sun-joo tells her husband she’ll be bringing her daughter back to Hong Kong. This sends her into a panic, assuming the woman has reunited with Park-ha, and she calls Tae-mu to warn him.
Tae-mu is upset, but as he looks around and sees a truck being loaded with boxes, he gets a gleam in his eye. Uh, I hope he’s not planning on repeating Se-na’s childhood ditch job, since I’m pretty sure that won’t work with an adult. Or maybe he’s opting for that easier path—murder—and thinking of running her over? Of course, with him, murder doesn’t seem so easy, despite the number of times he’s attempted it. By sheer virtue of probability and numbers, shouldn’t he have scored a hit by now?
Tae-mu tells Se-na to calm down, because he’s got an idea. He calls Park-ha next to request a meeting, baiting her with the information the she’ll be able to reunite with her mother after all. He apologizes for his rude behavior earlier, saying that he feels this is too important an issue to keep from her.
Thus he picks her up with the promise of delivering her to her mother, which has Park-ha lighting up with anticipation. He drives on for a while, then pulls over saying that her door was making a strange noise.
When he steps out to check on it, he takes out a drugged cloth, which he uses to clamp over her nose and mouth. She struggles, but it takes mere seconds for her to pass out.
Yi Gak looks through the rest of the photos taken on Tae-yong’s cell phone, and this time he stops at a familiar face in the background. It’s Park-ha, dressed as a server, which is enough of a coincidence to seem… well, not like a coincidence.
Tae-mu pulls in to an otherwise deserted junkyard and takes Park-ha’s phone from her bag. He loads her in the back of a refrigerated truck, then takes a photo of Park-ha on her own phone, which he sends to “Dummy ♥”—whom, he can see from her phone log, she just spoke with today.
Yi Gak gets the photo message, understanding the threat loud and clear. He immediately calls her phone, and gets Tae-mu on the line. Yi Gak threatens to kill him if he so much as harms Park-ha. Tae-mu tells him to shut up: “I’ll give the orders now.”
Tae-mu warns him that this isn’t the time to be making threats, since Park-ha’s in a refrigerated truck and just might turn to ice. He orders Yi Gak to bring him the cell phone containing the New York photos.
Tae-mu waits until Park-ha shows signs of stirring, and then locks the freezer door and leaves the junkyard. Thus when she wakes, she finds herself all alone, locked in a freezer, running out of time. Realizing her situation, she panics and cries, screaming for help. But nobody’s around.
Yi Gak races to make his meeting with Tae-mu, mentally replaying Taek-soo’s warnings to not tip his hand before the plan calls for it. This means that if he goes to Park-ha now, he’s giving up the bigger battle. So, what’ll it be: the girl, or your fate-driven mystery and intrigue and time-traveling predicament?
It seems he comes to a decision, because he screeches to a stop in the middle of the road.
COMMENTS
Ha, and the terrorization of the villain begins. It’s pretty much the most satisfying storyline in the episode, with Tae-mu starting to unravel with all the pressure of his blackmailer. I enjoyed it enough that I wish the mystery of the message-sender was kept for longer, so that he could stew in the uncertainty for more time. Tae-mu is definitely teetering on the brink, and I suspect it won’t take much to push him over the edge. But it would be nice if that brink were more epic, a la Lady Macbeth, instead of having him figure out that it’s Yi Gak right away.
I find it (unintentionally?) hilarious to consider how many versions of the same person/soul are floating around by this point. There are so many Tae-yong personas that it’s almost confusing keeping track of what to call them. Example: There’s Tae-yong. And Yi Gak. Then Yi Gak Impersonating Tae-yong. Foollowed by Yi Gak Impersonating Tae-yong, Part 2.
Each version has a slightly different set of mannerisms and ways of speaking, so on that front Yoochun’s getting plenty of material to work with in playing with the roles. I think he’s doing a pretty good job of embodying each character, too, so we’re not confused about which role he’s playing at any given moment. For instance, it’s pretty easy playing Yi Gak and Tae-yong as separate entities. And Yi Gak pretending to be Tae-yong (the first time) was the funny version, where you got the funny sageuk talk with the modern appearance. The latest one is the most nuanced version, since Yi Gak’s portrayal of Tae-yong (part 2) is a little different from straight-up Tae-yong. There are little details in his speech pattern to show us that it’s still the stuffy prince in this role, like minor accent or pronunciation slip-ups as he tries to talk modern with about a 98% success rate.
Plot-wise, I did find myself wishing the characters were smarter, both hero and villain. I’ve been spoiled with Ji Hyun-woo’s character in Queen In-hyun’s Man, who is so satisfyingly clever and quick on the uptake that I want Yi Gak to be just as smart. I want him to succeed by outsmarting Tae-mu, who at this point is just smart enough to be annoying, but not enough to actually present a challenge.
To wit: Taking Park-ha hostage makes sense and totally fits with Tae-mu’s crude, brute-force approach to “solving problems” (aka, violence and murder), but I found it a bit of a retread. Especially since Park-ha had just been locked in a burning building a couple episodes back, only to be rescued by Yi Gak. Who else laughed at the inadvertent comedy of that juxtaposition—first fire, then ice? What’s next, submersion in tepid water? A middling-speed chase?
In the absence of super-clever twists, though, I do enjoy that the show makes up for it with cute. Like the super lo-fi subway escape, HA:

All of those questions raised by previous posts make sense, but I just want to see more of the cute, and more ducklings in action. Please TM don't try to kill anybody else, otherwise you'd become a clown character instead of wanna be evil villain.

No way, the lady in distress???? Come on, PH is better than that. Hope the writers get out of this absurd plot twist ASAP.... maybe if this action is like totally relevant plotwise then i can find myself satisfied, if not then bummer!
And yes, tae mu you are the worst murderer ever... Well, human murderer because you really know how to kill a plant in a pot...

Hi Guys, newbie here! I have a little theory that I'd like to share with all of you. All this time we have been playing with the idea that maybe it was BY and not the CP that was found floating on the lake and I think I may have found something that could prove it in this episode. either that or I'm really just overthinking this drama!^_^ Anyway, we have also established that the writers in this series are very much into symbolism, and that is why i think two mirroring incidents may have meant more that what we initially thought.
First, during the Joseon era BY's face was accidentally burned by her sister, which caused the scarring in her face that cut her off the shortlist for the prince's bridal candidates. Then we saw the dead body of someone supposedly in the CP's clothing floating in the lake. Considering climate in SK, the water's temperature was probably a couple of degrees below zero. Both incidents have the elements of fire and ice playing a major role. Now, jump to the current time. PH was trapped in a burning warehouse, caused by a sparked plug. Then in this episode, she is trapped inside a refrigerator van. Fire and ice. Mirroring incidents in different time frames are probably not coincidents, especially when the theme of this drama is about destiny.
What do you guys think? if my line of thought is correct,then we can safely assume that the drowned person is BY.

I really like your theory.I think the same thing.I actually think Park Ha might really die in the next episode,which will send our power rangers to Chosun and they will try to right the wrong from there.You know,change the past ,change the future!I don't know,maybe I'm over thinking too!

yay! well, at least now I know I'm not alone. ^_^
Maybe YG's purpose in coming to the present time is to realize their thwarted destinies and prevent history from repeating itself.
My only worry now is what happens after he realized his mission. Because I can't help but think that the incident that allowed them to travel to the present, actually left them dead in their time (noone survives riding over a cliff!). Maybe that's what PH read in the history books that got her so depressed and why whenever he comes closer to the realization that PH is his soulmate, he and the J3 fade away.

I really don't think that she should die. Then most likely you'll have a bu Yong that's dead, A Bak Ha that's dead, a comatose Tae Yong and a Very alive Yi Gak. What then are they going to introduce? and how would that work out?

yes, i think so too...going back and forth in time would be overkill...i'm sticking with my theory that YG will be able to stop history from repeating itself in the present time but after that, i'm not so sure...i'm hoping that I'm wrong and that he isn't really dead but would you really want him to live back in his time alone? That will be too tragic an end for him and I won't be able to wish the PH and TY happiness knowing that our prince is suffering on his own.

I have this theory that maybe the next few episodes will happen in Chosun,before Bo Yong got killed.Maybe he saves Bo Yong and then Park Ha will be saved in the future.It's a silly theory,I know!:p

I think it was actually BY who died in Joseon. Don't forget that the butterfly flew out of BY's handkerchief, maybe she wanted her fate to be corrected in the present times and that's why she was saved from the fire and is going to be saved from the ice truck.
Also, maybe what she read in the history book is that F4 died in the past and the crown princess remarried with Joseon TM. this is just my guess....

Wow! Ok, after watching the Avengers today (imax! 3D! AWESOME) I come back to this awesomeness. I swear I'm so pumped with energy and excitement now I have no idea what I should do with it. But damn, it'll carry me through tomorrow and maybe hopefully next week. X)

Does anyone seem to find a coincidence in Pak Ha being trapped in a "truck". Maybe she'll get caught in an accident, lose her memories and have a new beginning with the real Tae Yong. The Joseon characters will go back to their era and they'll fix their problems there. Any insight into maybe? or am I too naive. hahah

This episode was so intense.
I don't know WHY ON EARTH Park Ha believe Taemu? WHY? She witnessed by herself what TM did to her house. Tsk. I was disappointed with her, it's like she just put more problems that have to be solve by Lee Gak :(
I agree, Yoochun handle all his characters very well. Since watching him at SKKS, I already know he is natural gift actor. He improved significantly. I hope another awards are coming to you this year Yoochun-ah, because he is deserves it :)

Anyway, speaking of technology, Yi Gak could easily track Park Ha's mobil phone nowdays.
Please think Yi Gak, how/where did Tae Mu find a refrigerated truck for his plan.
I need more Joseon era time!
So much happening, but I need more process on the story and the other "main" characters. What about Bak-ha and Tae-yong? I don't think they can fall each other easily just because they are look a like!
But really interesting, that Tae-yong liked Par-ha, before Par-ha noticed anything, and Bak-ha liked Yi Gak, before he realised anything. Now Par-ha and Yi Gak know and feels their fate, but they love each other, not the other ones.

Their personalities are more suited too. Bu Yong with Tae Yong who is more laid back and seemed more reserved. Remember when he wanted to stop Bak ha to talk to her and couldn't do it? Also Tae Yong doesn't want to be in the company -- he just doesn't like it. He could be a prince and write and draw all day and talk with his advisers and Bu Yong could talk with him keep him entertained and do embroidery with her butterflies and since she's so smart, if they're any problems he could get her imput. While on the other hand BaK Ha and Yi Gak has a more fiery personalities - they do get on each other a lot, and Bak Ha knows how to keep Yi Gak in line.
If Yi Gak and Bu Yong was together he would just walk all over her. It's true that she was able to entertain him, but she was much more reserved than Bak Ha. Remember when she punched him, and the different things she did to him to keep him in line.

Throughout the whole scene between Park ha and CEO Jang, i was screaming at her to just whip out the half torn photo and show it to her too.. lol. But what good could have come out of it if they realise they are mother and daughter? I'm sure Park Ha wouldn't want to go to Hong Kong with her real mum... to be honest, it would not be so bad if Sena was taken to Hong Kong instead. That way we can have one less villain out of the picture.
Speaking of which, Sena really does seem to have a knack for ruining her own fortunes. First she pretends to be Injoo, and CEO mum ends up not giving up her company shares to her, which is what she had initially planned. Second, her mum was already planning to take her to Hong Kong (and giving her a life of riches I presume), but she had to overhear the phone convo, misunderstand, and then get into a frenzy over nothing. Leading to baddie Tae Mu trying to murder Park Ha, of course. Seriously, what motivation do these two villains have for wanting to prevent Park Ha from reuniting with her mum, apart from pure spite and jealousy? The motivation for murder does seem a bit wobbly here to me..
And Sena is really a good liar, much better than Tae Mu, the way she just lied nonchalantly about having heard the dol story from the radio. Tae Mu is not as cool a killer as he'd like to believe, his hand was trembling even when he was covering Park Ha's mouth with the handkerchief to make her pass out..
But i'm enjoying this show a lot, can't wait to find out next week how Yi Gak's gonna rescue Park Ha (again) from the freezer!

Just want to highlight the sweetness of Park Ha to be able to identify Yi Gak posing as Tae Yong v.2. I've been worry that she will be mopey in this ep crying that Dummy has gone back to Joseon. Talking about Yi Gak, I wonder what Princey will do, hmmph must wait till next week though. 4 eps to go.

I am already addicted to the actor playing Crown Prince, that's why I watch Rooftop Prince, then I become addicted to the story because of the flow of the story but now I could say I am also addicted to you javabeans because after watching every episode in Korean language which is I could not comprehend what they are talking about, just relying to their action... I always looking forward to your recap so that I could understand the real story, because English sub it takes a lot of day before they release. That's thank you for all your effort to bring us as soon as possible.
Right now I am looking forward for the 4 episode left, to answer my curiosity if Yi-Gak can go back to Joseon time, and if Tae-yong is alive who will be the real partner of Pak Ha? And How can Pak Ha found her real mother? and most especially who died on the pond and who kill her? I hope so that all my question in my mind have an answer for the the 4 episode left. Once again thank you and I am looking forward for your recap for the 4 episode left.

Lol, its funny, the driving part is the only thing that really annoys me about this drama. Cause we don't know how long the ducklings and Yi Gak have been in modern Seoul, but man, they can drive! And here me, in the real world, struggling with learning how to park and freakin road tests plus log books and having to wait a few years before actually getting a full license.
....off topic yea, heh, seemed to have got that off my chest. Seriously though, love this show!=D

I have to say that this drama is sooo Good, I'm completely hooked that I'm trying to figure out how they are going to end it! It has to be a good ending for the entire plot of reincarnation to make sense and I kind of figure that Bu Yong was the one who was drowned at the BY pond, it was not the evil Yong Hwa. The crowned prince never got to see the body of BY, So one knew it was not crowned princess!! Besides, in the beginning of the drama both bodies, Bu Yong and Tae Yong's show as both having an ill fate, both are drowned by the same person, Tae Mu that's why it was necessary for crown Prince to come to the future to find out information he didn't know at the time so he could go back to Joseon and change the past so the future has a better outlook!! I think...even if I'm wrong I'm loving this drama that is keeping me trying to figure out what's the next step screen writer is taking...lol!!

I think that the theory about fire and ice is a correct one. And I wouldn't be so worry about possible dead of Park Ha... Since at present there is always chance to rescue even after your heart stops... Isn't it right? As for the ending... The theory with LG dissapearing and waking up in TY body.... One soul in one time and dimension... That is possible and this is sth I hope for. Thanks a lot for recaps. Well done :-)

When the king was holding court, after the discovery of the body in the pond, remember the police chief came in to report his initial findings? Yi Gak said "Brother-in-law", then the police chief reported what he had found out. In my opinion, if the left prime minister is greedy for power or the throne, or wants his son (police chief) to become the next crown prince, the only logical parallel or possible reincarnation to Seoul 2012 would be Daddy Dong Man and his son Taemu, who want to take over the Home and Shopping Company. I'm thinking that the persimmons were intended for the Crown Prince-since the King is ill, if Yi Gak were to die, there will be a power struggle if there is no heir to the throne, but left prime minister could easily take over. Remember, there was not a single servant or attendant outside Yi Gak and Hwayoung's quarters. If Yi Gak were to be poisoned, he would have died before help arrived. And maybe Crown princess didn't know about the poisoned persimmons, had one anyways, took her midnight walk, and fell into the pond, with the poison already spread. If it was Bu Young in the pond, she probably had a persimmon when she went to visit the couple to give the answer to Yi Gak's riddle, died outside, and whoever the conspirators were, dressed her in the Crown Princess clothes, and tossed her in the pond to make it appear like a drowning, telling the princess beforehand to get out of the room at a certain point in the night. Which would make the princess part of the conspiracy? which doesn't make sense because she already had the position and power.

i would find that info interesting if it was said on the episode when PH and YG went to tour the castle, because that would mean that the prince probably went back to his time to rename the lake in honor of BY, but if that was already its existing name, then either it doesn't mean anything, or it's another error done by the writers--changing the name before the story allowed the prince to discover it was BY who died in the lake.

STUPID..estúpido! They are stupid or what? Park Ha, her biological mom and her step mom (or should I say the script writers? Lol). How come this "finding lost daughter thingy" drags on and on?
They have brains in their heads or melon seeds? If I am not mistaken the step mom had a photo of Park Ha with her dad and mom in her rest room at the fish market, don't tell me Park Ha never went in there all these while.
When Park Ha and her biological mom were having some sort of heart to heart talk about trying to find their lost daughter/mom, even a person with IQ of 75 to 85 would have said something like "do you have a photo of your mom/daughter?"
The biological Mom, couldn't she get it into her thick head that Park Ha was about the same age as her lost daughter and she was also looking for her lost mom? couldn't she put two and two together, talking about shrewd businesswoman haha.
I love this cute drama but poor scripts like these really pissed me off. I know they are trying to build up for a powerful climax, but do come up with some plausible lines. We are not morons.

I think you ARE mistaken. That photograph at the fish market which Taemu saw was Park Ha with her father, the step-mom and Sena.
Frankly, the writer is doing a pretty good job keeping the audience in suspense for 20 episodes. Those people who want everything to be solved so fast should go and watch a movie instead. All things get solved within less than 2 hours.

Well yeah I maybe mistaken with regards to the picture @ the fish market, but do ponder at the other logical reasons I pointed out.
Frankly I think the writer did a poor job with the script for the " Lost Daughter" subplot. I don't mind that bit about traveling 300 yrs to the future, after all its a fantasy, without that there won't be a story, right? Finding "Lost daughter" is a good plot too if done well enough.
But well, anyway I am glad there are people who are easily hoodwinked.

Ya I agree with u, we uninitiated people couldn't care more or less what plots the writer come up with. Be it believable or otherwise, we'll take in the whole shebang, lock, stock and barrel w/o digestion. you know what, i always leave my brain outside the door before switching in to Kdrama, else how could I enjoy the likes of Salaryman, Romance Town et cetera.
Dialogues I'd like to hear next is:
Stepmom to bio Mom "I m telling u, park ha is your bio daughterl In Jun"
bio-mom "Dun joke eunni, how could she be? she is clueless, gullible. I m smart, a shrewd businesswoman"
stepmom showed her the photo from the fish market, "See, this is park ha and her father with me and se-na"
bio-mom "What? You married my ex and used photoshop to superimpose my in jun on that pic? Oh eunni, how could you".

Thats Korean drama for you. when they walk, they dont look far ahead only abt 5 meters in front of them, they never look to the left or to the right and they never cast a backward glance. When they are looking for dear someone they manage to look in all directions except to that particular direction where that someone was standing albeit he/she was only 6 meters away. Aah I just love Korean drama.

Can I just say, I love the kiss that Yi Gak gave to Park Ha!
A lot of people are annoyed with the K-Drama kisses on how they aren't real kisses, but I think that's mostly because they aren't passionate Hollywood kisses. I think that K-Dramas kisses can be sweet and adorable in many ways.
However, I feel like often times they seem a little...well, a little awkward, mostly because of positioning. Hovering/barely touching mouths with smushed faces seems to be the typical K-Drama M.O.
This kiss! It was not a passionate Hollywood kiss, but a believable short, affectionate kiss between people who love each other. Not awkward, not stilted. Perfect. Bravo!

I agree with many here that getting into the car with Tae Mu was stupid. But I find it understandable because Park Ha was never one of the brightest light bulbs in the room anyways. She's not a strategic thinker, but rather a spunky survivor too confident of her ability to handle the crazies. I don't think most women would have reacted as calmly when the J4 first dropped into her rooftop home.
While being fearless and strong has enabled Park Ha to thrive without much family support all these years, those blessings can also get her in trouble sometimes. This is not the greatest plot device used by the writer to get Park Ha in the truck, but I can still go with it. It still makes sense.

Hmm, I don't reckon Park Ha was being all 'barmy'. Like commented before, she didn't know the full picture. Yi Gak never really revealed anything to her regarding Tae Mu's murder.
Yes, Tae Mu trashed her house, the second time much more of a frenzy, but by then they were both suspicious of each other; Tae Mu knew Park Ha knew where Yi Gak was, and Park Ha knew Tae Mu knew about the whole imposter Tae Yong thing, and was obviously mad about it. So in a way, its kind of understandable.
Besides all that, Park Ha has been the over-trustful, gulliable kind of person throughout this whole thing, so while she may now be wary of Tae Mu, I doubt she would imagine Tae Mu would go so far as to kidnap and murder her. She isn't a conniving fox like Sena.
So yea, it kind of makes sense for her to get into the car. Its not an unfamiliar person after all, so if you kinda see it from her view- the ex-bf of her evil sister who is kinda crazy mad right now but was real nice to her mother without any double motives, now apologizing somewhat and has information about her birth mother possibly for his own benefit too, well, its not so terribly unrealistic.
Ehhh, I hope that made sense anyway.:)

And PK is really a too kind hearted girl, imagine because of SN, she lived in US as adopted child, the father lived in misery all these yrs and died without seeing his beloved child one last time....etc, how could she still eat with her, go to the public bath....though is for SN's mother...for me I think I cannot even stand the sight of her....

I was thinking and thinking and then I realized smtg... maybe I'm wrong but the riddle's answer... could be a lotus? I mean, It's known that lotus flower are born in dirty/dead water, as dirtier it is, more beautiful the flower rises... Could be a relationship about that? Besides, I remember LG when he seeded the lotus and then took it away from water in order to grow... and blabla, there's a LOT of "Hello Lotus flower everywhere" signs starting from BY's name and the list go on. What do you think? I was reading some lotus flower related stuffs and there's a lot of info about the simbologism of the wheel of reencarnation (death plus eternal life)

Oooh I think a lot of us have jumped onto the 'Bu Yong in the river' wagon. It does seem more and more likely. But if she was the one who drowned, why? Did she see the crown princess out meeting someone? ( I happen to agree that the whole princess taking walks at night was a ruse, I mean,pfft, sena doing something so innocent?)
Or she really was killed through pre-mediated plan? Was Hwa Young's jealousy so huge she would want to get rid of her sister? I mean, she wasn't a humongous threat, and seems to a be a far too meek person, from what we've seen. And she probably didn't love her husband either. Just his wealth and status.
Maybe Bu Yong confronted her sister about something, like how Pak Ha did in defense of their mom, and was pushed in by Hwa Young and her night lover, who run away to cover their steps. Ooh, that'd be eerily similar to ballad of the Twa Sisters, which come to think of it, mirrors the whole sister dilemma here.
I hope we have more Joseon era scenes, they were good! And, while highly unlikely, if Park Ha would journey back with the time traveller's and get a sneak peek at Joseon, that'd be so cool! But she'd have to come back. Poor Tae Yong won't have anyone then.:(
So far the only fact I'm convinced of is that Hwa Young and Bu Yong weren't full blooded siblings. Ahh, show, I need more.=D

I came up with two options, why the BY could be the person who died in the pond:
1) She discovered that night walks of crown princess was to meet with her lover - crown prince brother-in-law, and than after confrontation she was killed
2) The crown prince promised her whatever she want's when she find out the solution of the riddle - maybe than she asked him for the persimons... They wanted to kill LG and instead of him it was BY who died...
I'm not sure what will happen next, but don't you think that the white car which TM was passing by before leaving PK looked quite the same as the one LG was driving...

Fot me it's rather obvoius, that the police officer from Joseon (our TM now) lied in all what he said that day.. Just look at his eyes, it's the same reaction as it is now when he lies...
I'm also quite worried about the king... seems to me it's highly possible that he was given also those persimons (he looks quite ill at that meeting).

I rewatched parts of Episode 1 again, (and maan we've come a long way lol) and I'm wondering about this again. When Bu Yong came to see Yi Gak about the riddle, the persimon's were already on the table. It happened to be the same time Hwa Young and Yi Gak were having, err, supper I guess, and she was pouring his soju, which could actually, come to think of it, contain a sleeping draught, while she sneaked out later on.
Anyway, it kind of seems to rule out Bu Yong asking for those fruits. As for the police officer, yep, a total liar there, but I don't actually see Hwa Young hooking up with him. Maybe I'm missing something in the subs, but I didn't get why the prince calls him brother-in-law either. We never do here of him having a sister. Hehe, all this sleuthing is fun. I'm gonna be sad when this show ends.:((((

did anybody remember when BuYong's mom cried to the father about BuYong's scar??? He carelessly care bout her!!! he totally ignored the fact that the scar will last forever~~~~
maybe Hwa Young is father's daughter.. BuYong is another daughter from diffrent husband?

Okay come on now... really a freezer?! Drama a little originality, pleeeeaze! Didn't we already do this in her childhood (locked in back of a truck).. ?Also how can CEO Jang so easily give up the search for her youngest daughter. She really bought "I saw it on TV" line? Alright rant over... I get the point of plot movement the whole show has been a picture of the Joseon Era (told in present time), from the girls childhood where older has always been jealous of younger sibling. I don't know why but, I feel like there needs to be more than just a copy of the Joseon story to make this feel real. I like the characters, like the idea of the plot... it has just been missing something for me from the beginning... not sure what it is.

I sensed history is repeating. The more LG discovered, the more he found past n present matched. I suspect the lady in the pond facing down could be BY n not the crown princess. That why victim's face not shown at all. 300years ago LG did not realise who his real true love was n too late to rescue BY, he must save PH now to amend history. I believe that is the objective why he came to present.

I agree with that... It could ends, that he will give his life while saving PK life... And than our Fab 4 will dissapears and TY will wake up... Of course only one to remember about Fab 4 will be PK and she will be devasteted. Than she will meet with TY and he will say sth that only she and LG knows.... So the main conclusion will be TY and LG in one... And than they will live hapilly ever after :-)

The more i thk abt it, the more i positive that the victim was BY. She dead in water which is 水 n now she trapped in freezer is 冰. LG found so many coincidence matches between past n present, so this 'water' element also repeat, just like PH's n BY's name.

Excuse me, but i just don't get it. why do you think BY was the one who died in the water? Do you mean to say The Crown Prince or his escorts, the palace guards etc. etc. didn't pull the body out of the water to make sure who really died? I don't think The Crown Prince would go deep in no man's land with his 3 minions to find/investigate the murderer of his beloved Crown Princess, if he wasn't sure it was the Crown Princess who died. "The Crown Princess died of poison, someone poisoned her" He said so in so many words, be it in Joseon or present time, even to Park Ha herself.
If it was BY, LG would have said to Park Ha something like "But somebody poisoned BY and she died, at first I thought it was the crown princess but then I found out it was you er I mean Bu Yong"
Have I missed something here? Could someone please enlighten me? TIA.

Ithink you miss one thing - that day by the lake, crown prince said to his people, that the body should be taken directly from water into silk, without showing anything - it was to show the respect for the "suppose" dead crown princess... So going this way it's highly possible that he didn't see the face...

Really? wow. Weird and foolish decision by the C. Princes I'd say. It beats all logic. You have a corpse floating in the water and without much ado have her tucked away without even looking at the face and decided there and then that it was the crown princess who died just because that's the way the C. Princess usually dressed. Haha for all we know, it could've been a man dressed in the C. Princess cloths Lol.
What I'd like to know is how he knew she was being poisoned and with persimmons at that.

Foolish? whaddayamean foolish? It was most wise I tell you. The crown prince was so wise that he could tell it wasnt the crown princess who died in da pond, see!
Prince or Princess have aura around them when they died, since there was no aura around the body in da pool, the crown prince knew right away that it wasnt the princess. Thats why he told his people, the body should be taken directly from water into silk becoz he didnt want the truth to be known.
Secretly he had his most trusted aide to find out who actually died. when he was told it was Bu Yong, he seethed with anger and set out to uncover the truth and bring the murderer to justice - to be beheaded no less. You know why he was so intent on vengeance? Sshhh.. not many people knew this but the crown prince was having and affair with Bu Yong, he was attracted to her from early on becoz she was sweet, soft-spoken and highly intelligent. Thats why the crown princess poisoned her with persimmons. How do you know it was persimmons you might asked. Well my good man, persimmons with poison are deadly, that was why you didnt see any signs of life in da pond, plants or fish..all died, everything except for "Lotus Flower", why lotus flower? You've to find that one out for yourself. If you dun know that then u have no right watching this magnificent, highly addictive drama with script writing at the highest caliber.

What a great ep...will be so sorry when this drama ends.
I was thinking Bak Ha don't get in the car with TM. She has been the absolutely darling in this series...she is so trusting and is always looking for the best in everyone. BakHa is truly the type of person in real life who gets murdered because they cannot fathom someone doing this to them. Looking forward to the next ep and more pieces falling into place.... Remember in Ep 14 or 15 the picture of her and the Fab 4, they disappear...will all memories vanish too. This is truly a cliffhanger!

Ya what about TM takes both of them captive? He convinced Park Ha that the bzwoman from H.Kong is her bio-mom (sorry can't remember her name, fact is i m poor with korean names huhu and i also hate writing biological - tiring uhh).
To the bio-mom he says "write a will handing over all your fortunes and shares to Park Ha, or I'll kill Park Ha"
To Park Ha he says "Marry me and tell the board of directors you want your husband to be the new CEO (or better still the new Chairman?), else you'll never see your mother alive".
Hows that, good, no?

I am sure our smart Prince has already assigned Blue Ranger to protect PH indiscrimately. When they met on the hill after dodging TM, Princey mentioned that he thought PH is as tough as a guy but she is actually a frial woman. This he observed after seeing the way she looked so terrified by TM's rampage from across the street of the RT house. Blue Ranger can tail her from her hp's GPS. On the other hand, Blue Ranger could also be tailing TM. As someone mentioned earlier, I also noticed a white car at the scene after, TM drove away.
Princey stopped because he must have realised that his mission to time jump is to prevent PH from being killed and the corpse in the pond must be BY's. As I have mentioned in other blogs, Confucianism forbids a spouse from viewing the other spouse's corpse. HY must have killed her and dressed her in her clothes to fake her own death so that she could escape. Her grieving dad must have let her body be as she derserved a funeral ritual befitting a crown princess as she was the rightful one. He must have bribed the undertakers and refused an enquiry as it would bring shame to the family.
Anyway, I believe our Joseon F3 will play important parts for the remaining episodes to ensure a HAPPY ENDING for our Prince and PH!

Well I don't know about that, maybe so. But there was nothing to prevent the others (Court Officials, caretakers and all, be it by burial or cremation) from seeing who really was who died. Don't tell me they just dragged the corpse outta the water face down and stuffed her inside the casket with her wet clothes on and burned the coffin.

Confucius taught that? LOL. I can not swallow that. Confucius wasn't dumb to have taught sumthin so stupid. Inspecting a corpse is a must, more so when foul play is suspected, that should be the most logical thing to do even in the Joseon era.

Alot of theories going around and i am loving every single one of them..I was sceptical as well abt whether BY was the one who really drowned. I mean its far fetched to believe that noone actually saw the drowned person's face. But u forget, this is kdrama..There is nothing too farfetched in this. I dont know if many remember about the door being opened for Park Ha when she went to deliver veggie's for Sena. It couldnt have been TM since he was showering. Personally i believe it was the hand of fate. I wonder if there was a necessity for her to meet TM at that point. And if things would have turned out any differently if that initial meeting hadnt happened.
As for the white car spotted when TM is leaving, its actually a junk car on top of a whole bunch of scrap stuff. So nope its not YG's.
Also, can someone clarify why YG calls that Police Chief Bro-in-law?

There are two possibilities. One, police chief is the brother of Crown Princess and Buyong, or, he is married to one of the Crown Prince's sisters. I still think it's the former.

People stop being negative about how the show not going your way. Just relax, watch and enjoy it. Apparently the writers and directors are doing a good job, they got a reactions out of you, both neg. and pos. That's why they are the ones who wrote and direct the scene's. capisce..

Why did LG stop his car? Because he remembered in the photo of PH which TM sent to him ... there was a label on one of the boxes behind PH which could be the clue to find out the ownership of the freezer truck. Maybe silly TM also included the plate number which was briefly shown to us before he took the picture. Then LG rescues PH and has another item to blackmail TM.
