Finally weekend! I`m happy. It is my first comment. I decided, to be brave today. My first OT-comment.(and I am the first today...)
I am just watching Faith for the time being. I enjoy Faith despite the notsogood directing. So much hidden potential. A bit more like Chuno-slavehunter...sigh. But the main couple is very very very cute and pretty and funny.
Unfortunately I do not have much time to watch kdramas. Because I have started to study computer science. It is a distance learning course. So I have to study in the evening. Less time to watch kdramas :-(. Panicattack! Will I become a nerd now?? But nerds do not watch kdramas, do they?? So than maybe I'am k-dramabeans-OT-fan-nerd or something like that?? o_O
Hi Swurbel!
I'm pretty new myself, but I welcome you tot the loveliness of the OT! And there is nothing wrong with being a k-dramabeans-OT-fan-nerd!
Have a nice weekend!
Nope... Leafy's brain is just not working recently...
maybe it's due to too much partying...
^sigh^ I knew I wouldn't be able to cope with a social life...
Hi swurbel! I'm new too! I've decided to be brave and comment too cos of my addiction to Nice Guy. I was really crazy about Faith until episode 18 when I started on Nice Guy and found it much more engaging than Faith even though they're as different as day and night when it comes to comparison.
But I have to say I love eun sol and choi young too! Their interactions are so cute! And their love feels real and grounded. Not a whirlwind or grand romance like most k dramas but something I'd like to experience in real life.
All the best for your long distance learning course!
Nerds or anybody for that matter can totally be kdrama fan(girls/boys)! It's practically written in the contract that we all sign when we hand our souls over to those life suckers! Success in what you are doing on the other hand is all about prioritizing and self-control. I think I kind of lack in this department but I'm hanging in there while also studying in professional school.
hello enz. A friend of mine calls me that sometimes. Because I tend to make things more complicated than they are. He heard or read the word "verschwụrbelt" in Germany and it means 'confused' or 'complicated'. He liked that word and so he created 'swurbel'. I like that nickname too and so it is now. :-)
Nerds do indeed watch Kdramas ^^ I am studying literature at Uni and I watch kdramas all the time (or when I find the time to do so). I don't see why we can't be kdramaaddicts and nerds at the same time. Being both is very fun imho.
Hallo Unnursvana. I think I need to change my world view and what nerds are. Literature students are nerds too???
However. The nerds I know or what I called nerds are (hardcore)computerfreaks. They can do amazing things with the computer. They are sometimes a bit unsocial. And they play WoW and/or Magic – The Gathering. And I if I have a question concerning computers they reply patiently and friendly but I don't understand a word (but thats my lack of knowledge :-()
But I`am a kdramaaddict and dramabeansaddict for sure. Love this blog and all the comments. It's fun and relaxing.
Nice weekend for you.
Everybody can be a nerd, it had more to do with their interest and stuff like that. I doesn't matter if they are studying literature or science or whatever. I am a Lit Nerd, a hardcore bibliophile. I am sure you can be a kdrama nerd as well.
Well, I get my views on nerd from the Vlogbrothers. Those guys made me discover my inner nerd.
“…because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff… Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.” - John Green )who one of the Vlogbrothers and a writer as well ^^.)
Hello Korazy and oftheshore! We're expecting snow this weekend. And it's the end of daylight saving ... dark times ahead. I'm a bit cold and hope it's not a flu that's coming. If it is, I hope it's a really mild one that lets me stay in bed and watch Kdrama.
Happy OT everyone! Just catching up on nice guy. I'm really loving how everything is coming into place and the plot actually works good for me. What jdramas are you guys watching this season? I've managed to catch kekkon shinai and tokyo airport.
Happy OT,
I'm staying away of melos, and weekend dramas this seasom
Well, at least regarding kdramas.
But i'm checking atleast the first episode of this season's jdramas. I'm liking Kekkon Shinai so far. Waiting for subs for this week's premieres
Grüezi Shukmeister, your greeting is kinda in a weird place :) hehe, that's probably why I indeed DID forget to buy chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. Guess I'll have to go again tomorrow to get those.
Happy Friday everyone! Though at where I'm at, it's near the end of the day.
I've been hooked on Nice Guy ever since starting on it two weeks ago. It's my first melodrama, and what an experience it is. For once, the corporate machinations are brilliant, all the crying and screaming are justified, and the hour flies by with me at the edge of my seat.
I'm enjoying it so much that I've even been drawing and painting drama scenes from it. I think this is gonna be my favorite drama of the year. A melo! I'd never have imagined...
Hi, Kika, dear fellow-Nice-Guy-fan!
It's a rare thing for me to get so invested in a melo, but when I try to think of my favourite dramas ever, there would be some melos high on the list. I guess they just make you more engaged and emotional than comedies or action dramas. To cut the long story short, I share your view on Nice Guy - it's the first time when amnesia makes sense plot-wise and is handled without disregard to common sense.
I also want to say that your blog is great! Love your art, especially water-colours. Do you accept suggestions/requests or do you onl;y follow your own inspirations?
Hello kopykto, glad you like the water colors! No one has requested for anything before, but I'm happy to accept them, especially since I'm Running out of ideas of the scenes to draw. Just drop me a message!
Yay! That would be awesome!
I'll be sure to drop by and request a nice water-colour (or whatever you feel like drawing/painting) of Sorry, I Love You (http://i54.tinypic.com/23wn1n9.jpg) or Attic Cat.
Wow... I just dramawiki-ed these two titles and they go way back. I only started watching k-dramas about 2 years ago. Drop me a message on the blog and let me know which still you'll like to be drawn :)
I hope you see this. I just checked out your blog and as a fellow water color painter, I wanted to say I love your style! Your use of color is fabulous! I'm glad you got inspiration from the dramas because you should not stop painting. (Maybe you'll even inspire me to pick up my brush again!)
And it is Friday again! Who else is happy?
I hope everyone had a good week!
Mid-terms are almost over! Then I have free time again and can I resume my drama watching. I haven’t watch one episode this whole week! (Okay, maybe one… or two. Who needs a certificate when you can watch dramas?) So I still got to watch the end of Arang. But I don’t want it to end! I’m still in some sort of denial that it has already ended.
Thanks to everyone who shared their recipes with me last week! They are definitely going in my list of favourites! It was very nice to try something different, very refreshing.
Shukmeister, your chicken pot pie was delicious! I shared it with my roommates and it made me instantaneously very popular.
Enz, your pasta with sausage tasted also very good!
Ladytron, I tried making the jacked potato and it turned out very good. I’m planning to make the potato and corn soup coming week, I hope it turns out alright!
Because in Holland you can only buy potatoes per a lot so I had some potatoes left and with them I made the potatoes, onions and cheese recipe JoAnne suggested, which was also very tasty!
Mar, I still have to search for a cheap rice cooker, so I haven’t tried your recipe yet, but I certainly will when I have my hands on one.
And Sabah, your cookies! Holy cow, were they good! I could never thought of making them like that myself, they were like heaven!
Wishing everyone a nice Friday and good weekend : )
I have to laugh about the recipes. That is one of the excuses (hiding my addiction haha) I use when I'm secretly trying to sneak in an episode of a drama or catch up at Dramabeans. I just tell my husband I'm searching for recipes on line. Who knew I could do both at the same place!
Haha, everything is possible on Dramabeans! Now you have an extra good alibi ;) I always pretend I'm studying very hard instead of watching dramas like an addict! (which I am, truthfully)
The recipe is pretty basic, and includes a cup of liquid.
If you use a red wine, you get a hard dippable wine cookie. I've also used a cup of fresh-squeezed lemon juice (my father makes his own limoncello), and it makes a hard very tart lemon cooler that I dip in powdered sugar. I've had a few failures with it, but that's the fun of experimenting!
My mom calls them wine biscuits. She had the recipe for years, but my dad says I make them better ;-).
---------
WINE BISCUITS (Chianti Cookies)
4 cups flour
1 TBLS baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup oil
1 cup red wine (Chianti or other sweet red)
- Mix together until a dough forms. Using a teaspoon-size amount of dough, roll into a rope, form a circle and twist it once to give it a “figure-eight” shape.
- Brush with egg yolk (optional and I don't do it)
- Bake 400 for 18 to 25 minutes until brown.
---------
If you use wine, they turn out a purple color, which is another reason I don't use the egg yolk - I like purple!
The red wine is where you can substitute other liquids. I'm going to render a pumpkin this year, and try it with the liquid from boiling it down. We'll see how that goes...
Hmm, sounds good! I would never have thought to use red wine in cookies, I only tried with liqueur like Amaretto so far. But it sounds great! And purple is my favourite colour, so it can't go wrong ; )
With pumpkin is a very special idea, I'm curious how that will turn out. Pumpkin is very good, I ate pumpkin soup (mom-made) the other day, delicious!
FishcalledWanda, I'm so glad everything turned out well for you! I hope the potato soup goes as planned :) That's the nice thing about potatoes-they're so cheap and versatile! I wish I didn't have food allergies, because those cookies Sabah posted sounded amazing!
What dramas are on your list to watch once midterms are over? I'm in the middle of a Gentleman's Dignity marathon. It's good, but I've been really annoyed with the last two episodes. Noble idiocy in Kdramas drives me crazy!!
Hi Ladytron!
Potatoes are great, you can cook them, bake them, grill them, use them in soup or make them with a jacket on, all kinds of possibilities!
Food allergies are not nice! : ( You have to be super aware of what you eat. Are you allergic to a lot of things?
I read in the recaps that Girlfriday and Javabeans made fun of the last two episodes of GD, it sounded very funny. Noble Idiocy is one of those things that always surface and you really want to ban from the dramaworld!
My list to-watch is huge! I don't know where I'm going to find the time!
I'm planning to watch Nice Guy, cause it sounds very thrilling with lots of twisted characters and twists. I'm also going to finish Arang, White Christmas and Faith. Oohlala Spouses sounds very funny and has that actor from Gaksital in it, so I want to check that out. Next is Panda and Hedgehog of which I've watched the first episode. I'm also a bit behind on Vampire Prosectur 2, which I really like. And alsoo missed the last episode of 1N2D, so that one is on the list as well! Aaand there is also History of the Salaryman, which I've wanted to watch for ages! Why is it that my to-watch list is always bigger than my completed list?
Yeah, you have a few to look forward to!! Arang and Faith are both great, and I'm loving VP2. I'm also watching Ooh la la Spouses, but have mixed feelings on that one. It's so funny and the actors are hitting the ball out of the park, but the husband character is just sooooooo hateful! It's really hard to root for such a jerk. But you should still give it a go. I'm probably being too sensitive.
I started watching Full House 2 this week as well. It's a lot of fun. I thought it would be over the top and campy, but I didn't expect to enjoy it so much. They have it world-wide on Viki right now, just in case.
Those are the ones I'm watching live at the moment. I'm going to start God's Quiz after I finish GD. I'm in love with the cutie King from Faith and hear he's great in that one.
Yeah I do! I already started Arang and Faith, but then uni kicked in, but I'm looking forward to finishing it. Even though Faith wasn't really what I expected (or hoped) it to be, I still enjoy it (and Lee Min Ho).
Sometimes it can be enjoyable to hate a character if it's not overdone.
I heard good things about Full House 2, so maybe I'll give that one a try to. The two male actors are both on my list of favourites, so that should be a plus. I'm also in need of something funny after all the dry stuff I've been learning for mid-terms.
Ooh, I also wanna see more of the cute king of Faith! So that one's on the list as well, it's ever-growing!

Hey! : ) I am sorry I am late. I am so glad you made the cookies. They are such a wonderful treat and almost everyone who tries them falls in love.
I am missing Arang too but I have convinced my little sis to watch it, so I am kind of re-living it through her eyes.
Wishing you all well.
P.S. JoAnne's cheesy potato recipe was really nice. Thank you so much for sharing because I know people who would confess their crimes before giving up their recipes. I am much obliged.
Sabah!! I missed you on the OT Friday! : )
How was your festival last week?
Your cookies are impossible not to fall in love with, next time I'm making them for my parents and brother, I'm sure they'll love it too!
How nice that your sister also watches Arang! I still have the last two episodes left, so I can convince myself it's not really over. Luckily, mid-terms are almost over! Only three days left, whoo!
Those cookies really are a kind of treasure given to me. I am so glad I could share it with you.
I've always had a thing for Lee Jun Ki ever since My Girl. It's been wonderful to see him develop as an actor and Arang was a culmination of that in a way. Looking forward to see what he tries next. Shin Minah was beautiful and endearing as ever! I loved her ever since bittersweet life. Arang was a pleasure to watch, I never had anything to complain about, which is rare.
Wishing you much success in your exams and that all the answers come to you as easily as falling off a log! (I was going to say as easy as eating pie BUT I was flummoxed by the logistics of heating up my meal just now so...hehe)
And I like it how such a thing as cookies can turn out like a treasure, given to you (and to me).
Lee Jun Ki never really did it for me. I watched Time Between Dog and Wolf and liked him in it, but wasn't crazy over him. But now that I saw him in Arang I think I finally get why some people really like him. Now I'm planning on watching Time Between Dog and Wolf again!
Thank you so much! I really like you metaphor, haha! I hope your meal turned out alright ; )
It's strange how you can watch things and not notice people or characters but then something will happen and when you go back you are amazed at what you missed. I don't know how it works but really it must be something within yourself that has changed, a new perspective. Recently I watched Nell's 'a day before' MV and I had to go back and watch Moon Embraces the sun again for Sing Jae Rim.
I feel that Lee Jun Ki is really getting better with each project. I mean there was this intensity that he always brings to his roles which endeared me to him in the first place but I find that he has expanded his acting in a lot of ways. I love the way he portrays humour now, his timing is excellent. I also love how he is able to slip from funny to serious more easily now. It comes across more natural.
Yeah, I just ended up eating it cold out of the fridge...
Yeah, that's really true! Sometimes it's the same with music. I listen to an album and I think it's nothing special, but then some melody or a part of the lyrics gets stuck in my head and when I listen to it again I can't imagine I didn't think it was amazing before! Those albums or songs usually turn out to be my favourites.
Had my last exam today, and most answers came as easily as falling of a log! Thanks for wishing my good luck! And now I have freeeedom!! Dramas here I come!
I don't know if you still read this thread, but I hope your week is going well : )
(And to celebrate my coming days of freedom I plan to make your cookies again tomorrow! What better way to celebrate?)
I hope your day is smooth. I have to work a 12-hour shift tomorrow (Saturday) thanks to some vacationers and the impending storm. Still, I have a bag of ginger snaps to keep me company at work!
Morning, Beaners! Just a quick hello as I'm watching my 9 month old grand daughter this week, so she keeps me hopping!
All I can say is Nice Guy. Sooooo gooood. Every episode takes makes your emotions run the gamut. And that smirk of SJK's at the end of episode 14 literally sent chills up my spine.
I hope you guys all have a favorite drama rocking your world at this week!
Also, can't wait to meet some of you at the Big Bang noona trip :)
Oh my gosh, oftheshore, I wish there was a way for me to post a picture on here. I took one of my granddaughter sitting in front of the computer that has a big picture of SJK on it. I sent it to my daughter as a joke. I swear, though, all my grandkids are fascinated by Kdramas! I think it must be all those beautiful faces :)
It is a great job being a grandmother, but it takes a lot of energy. Reading back over my post, I obviously have trouble forming coherent sentences while trying to keep one eye on the kiddo! Oh well, didn't want to miss my OT!
I probably can. That would make my dad happy too, as long as I bake enough for both of us. lol
---
I've coerced a friend of mine to make me some of her signature Starbuck caramel macchiato cookies. If that comes through I'll definitely have those.
Oh! That smirk! SJK really knows how to deliver any kind of facial expression that is suited for the scene. He's one of my favorite actors after watching Sungkyunkwan Scandal. I want to see him doing action-comedy drama soon.
With Arang, my week seems incomplete now that I don't have AaTM on my watchlist. LJK and SMA is now one of my favorite OTPs!
Hello! I'm TOTALLY with you about Nice Guy. The smirk! The angry face! The shy side! I'm so invested in Eun Gi's journey it's ridiculous. Oh the angst! :) This is the first drama I'm deliberately watching on different sites to get the perspective of differing subs!
*SPOILER*
My fav part of 14, was when Jae Hee was going to kneel and he caught her and juuuust when you see in her face like she totally thought she had him, he was all "disgusting" and walks off!! I was like OHTHANKGOD!! I think that moment just makes the smirk at the end so delicious!
*END SPOILER*
I hope you guys have a blast on your Big Bang trip! I'm only very very recently dipping my toe in the kpop realm. I just let it be a kind of fringe awareness thing for awhile, but one day I decided to put the kpop Pandora station on and ended up liking so many Big Bang songs! Doesn't hurt that they are all kinds of cute too. :)
My office is doing the same thing. Updates on the hour and discussing whether to activate the emergency preparedness system. Since I'm working both of my days off anyway, I don't think it will affect me, even if they call us in.
I'm just asking, Sandy, pretty please: DON'T HIT NEWARK!!
They are projecting that it will veer before it hits us head on, so it should just be heavy rain and winds.
I'm not on the ambulance this weekend but the police department, so even if it hits I'll just hunker down and wait it out. I checked with the parents and siblings, and they are prepped. Hopefully this will be the last storm of the season.
Ok here I am! It's lunch time and I'm taking some time to actually not work, hurricane pending or not.
Here locally it looks like some bad weather, so personally I'm sure things will be fine. It's just that a big storm can really throw things out of whack at work and thus I'm at risk globally, pretty much. Well. The Americas, Europe and Asia, anyway. I don't have much in the Middle East.
One of the things I love about DB is that all day at work I'm involved with various countries and sometimes even cities where I can place actual people that I know here, and things you say here and on Twitter sometimes have actually helped me to understand current situations (holidays, weather, etc) where you are and thus helped me to avoid problems or plan for delays. It's a happy circumstance and one I greatly appreciate for the enrichment it brings me both personally and professionally!
Now, let's get to the important stuff!
Music - I'm enjoying the releases coming from Epik High and it seems like everyone else is too. Haven't discovered anything new on my own, though, been too busy to search this week.
Faith - aww, this week just thrilled my heart to pieces. What is it I have to watch now, God's Quiz? Because Ryu Deok-Hwan, you little adorable bit of lovable man you - I am a big, big fan. I will be sad to see this show go, failures of execution be damned. The PEOPLE executed, and that was enough for me.
Nice Guy - Holy Amnesia Train, Batman. Now she has amnesia about having amnesia or something but still, really - ok. Maru adores her. There is just no question. Please God, let him feel like he has been forgiven before his eventual death. Jae Hee you FREAK of a KDrama nightmare...how dare you continue to show bits of humanity and make it so hard for me to just hate you? Because I want to hate you. And I can't. I can only be scared of you. Attorney Park you cute man who understands that love isn't possession...is that what you were thinking when you lied to Eun Gi and said you never said that Maru was a bad guy to her? After your little hesitation in the hospital, which I read as acknowledgement that Maru's place is by her side...have you decided that you will NOT keep him away from her in the future after you've used to him to help her? Because, yo, she's gonna know you lied about it. How's that gonna play out?
The Great Seer - you continue to be interesting AND hilariously funny and I continue to think of you as crack. Here's hoping the adult seers are fun, because we haven't gotten much of the child seers but the parent's generation is CRAZY. Still getting a thrill out of an old, short, craggy Choi Young. Lee MinHot you do NOT age particularly well. I mean, the guy on his own isn't BAD...it's just that if he started out as you, he should end up better.
Time Between Dog and Wolf - I began this because Lee Jun Ki and because reasons. I LIKE it. I reallllllly like it. He's about to go back to Thailand and start the undercover bit and I'm so excited for my weekend!
And now, I have a bit of an announcement. I'm not quite sure how to say this, but you've all been so good to me, and I think so highly of you. I can't keep this secret any longer - it just feels wrong.
Ok I didn't end my comment there deliberately but someone must have thought I was going on too long (because I was) so I'll stop. But seriously - their hair is crazy and the clothes that look so bad - there's a reason for it; and the plot to get them into the same house? Isn't all that nuts. And the interaction between the 3 main characters is fun - but I do see some tender and sad moments coming - and the side characters are hilarious. Watch it. I can't believe I'm saying this because I was expecting off-the-Jin-scale badness but this more of You're Beautiful kind of feeling to the what the fuckery going on. I like it. And I'm just not going to be ashamed about it anymore. But I still feel a little confused about it.
Joanne said- "I will be sad to see this show go, failures of be damned. The PEOPLE executed, and that was enough for me. "
Me too, girl, you said it succinctly.
FH2-Me too! I think I have just needed a bit of the silly, and wow, those guys are hamming it up like crazy. I love the diva k pop thing, because they remind me of actual k pop guys, it's hysterical.
The question that we all want an answer to re Old Choi Young is, does he have a wife with curly red hair and an awesome sense of humor hidden away somewhere? :D
JoAnne, I'm so glad you came out as a fan of FH2! I've been looking forward to watching it, and am so excited I'm not the only one who gave it a try. I know it had such bad press, but it's exceeded my expectations. So cute and fun.
I feel like I'm always admitting to having bad taste by liking these "terrible" dramas, but I enjoy light, fluffy, and silly. So far it has not disappointed on the zany front (the end of episode 1 was a WTF moment in such a good way!).
And I agree with you on Faith. It might not have been perfect, but it had a lot of strength in it's "people". Can't wait to start God's Quiz for my new discovery. Ryu Deok-Hwan is such a cutie.
I started watching God's Quiz yesterday and marathoned season 1. Ryu is abso-frickin-lutely killing it. Cannot recommend the drama (and him :P) enough.
Awesome! I'll give it a watch once I finish A Gentleman's Dignity. I think I only have a few episodes left.
I like to have a show to marathon each week (if I can fit it in), as well as the two or three show's I'm watching live. God, I'm so obsessed... At least I've totally stopped watching American television (except for a few sitcoms here and there).
GQ starts off a little slow but picks up wrt the cases, etc. I find it on par with the CSIs and Criminal Minds. I continued watching it for Ryu who kept me intrigued with his excellent acting as the genius Dr. Han with dry humor. He's so quotable, I would chuckle, rewind his one-liner/quotes, and crack up again. So witty. I'm already on Episode 3 of season 2 and his character is evolving, for sure.
Hi Lady - I have no problem copping to the light and fluffy! I seriously thought that this was going to be BAD just flat out BAD based on what we were able to see beforehand.
Light and fluffy and BAD is not good. Light and fluffy and hilarious is perfect because I have to balance my deep desire for everything to end with Sang Doo levels of misery with...you know...sanity.
Haha, I've been debating if I want to watch FH2 so thanks you two... I will. :) I totally know what you mean about the admitting to bad taste feeling! My first dramas were ones that I later learned weren't all that highly thought off in general, just mediocre I'd guess, but I still like revisiting their kind and remembering when I didn't know what I was getting myself into. :)
Give FH2 a shot. It's actually pretty good in a "What am I watching?" sort of way.
So true about my first few dramas being "second string" ones! I had no idea what I was getting myself into either, so I just watched whatever I could find.
At this point, I watch what I am interested in and try and find a least one good point in each show so I can stick with it. That can be hard sometimes (I'm talking to you, the second half of A Gentleman's Dignity!!).
Hahaha, I never actually watched AGD, I did read a few of the recaps though. That's the one thing that I get kind of frustrated about now, it there are too many shows I'd like to watch but I only have time for two or three at once and then they keep coming out with new ones. I feel like I'm getting "behind" sometimes, lol!
I watched the first part of FH2 last night, and yeah it's wacky but I like it for sure. :)
Parts of it are - it's not a comedy at all, but some of the people say or do things that will make you laugh.
Ji Jin Hee as General Yi (who goes on to kill our beloved Daejang in real life) is hysterically funny as a drunk, vain, insecure lout (who happens to be f-ing GORGEOUS) trying to figure out how to maneuver in a political environment.
The devious In-Im is hilarious because he's so batshit crazy jealous over his woman.
There's this other general who will remind you of that whiny guy that got put to death in Faith - only he's more funny, less irritating, and then Pimp Ahjussi from DH2 does a funny turn as ...I dunno what he is, and there's just - there's funny stuff here and there.
How about Ji Sung? Can I drool at Ji Sung or is his pretty face all covered with crazy hair? Cuz the first episode was just too violent for me, and I don't know if I can sit through torture scenes for just Ji Jin Hee (as gorgeous as his is). I'd need at least 2 lookers to make up for the cruelty + violence!
Hi everyone! How have you all been?
Another tough week for me, so much stress! However, I want to talk about the good stuff. On Saturday, I saw Romance Joe with a friend - wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be, but I realized that I can now understand impressively large (by my own standards, haha) chunks of dialogue in Korean.:) Also, we went to see Celeste and Jesse Forever, and it was much better than I expected based on the IMDB reviews. The director also did a quick Q&A after the film, which was a nice bonus, considering it was not a big premiere. Finally, I changed my haircut, and it's giving me this amazing confidence boost - never underestimate the power of skilled hairdressers!
In K-drama news...nothing much, but I rewatch my favourite Dal Ja's Spring episodes. I would like to buy me some Tae Bongs, please.
Hi, Oftheshore!
I allowed myself a little rewatch, too - MiSa that is. It's a good way to relieve stress, isn't it? I mean, you know you're going to like what you see.
As for the hairdresser - they are elusive creatures. Once you encounter a good one, get their phone number or make sure you can contact them some other way. I had a traumatic experience when I got the best haircut in my life and then I couldn't find the hairdresser ever again. I went to that salon, but the other employee didn't tell me anything, I looked in other salons, but the lady seemed to disappear into thin air. To make things worse, on that very day (9/11) nobody noticed my great hairdo, because there were important things going on in the world...
Happy Friday, all! Skipped my exercise class today because it's just one of those "blah" days for me. I guess that means I can't overdo it with food this weekend. ;-) I got a lot of cleaning to do around here...my mom's coming to visit. Gotta brace myself. Hope to catch up with you all later!
Annyeong!!
I am free... as a bird. Or rather as a drama watcher. Watched ep 1-12 My daughter Seo Young. Then watched ep 1-5 Nice Guy- am going back to ep 6. From yesterday.
My brain is mush and I am toast. My head is heavy but am determined to finish ep 8 before bed. :-)
Happy OT everyone. Just to justify learning something Korean, because my last few dramas had so many swearwords. I asked one of the subbers to give me the lowdown for Korean swearing so I can memorize it. No, no, not to use it on someone. To recognize when it's said. Can I say when I put it to Google translate- it's terrible. More terrible than I thought. I would never ever dare to use it in real life. It's worse than the F word.
I totally get it now why you guys were raving on and on about Nice Guy. Or were you all raving on about Maru and his expressive eyes. Props to all of you who suffered or started from episode 1.
let me tell you that list of swearwords has me intrigue
Mostly for educational reason, one needs to know what is being said, even when is awful, to have a proper picture of what he/she is listening to
I am serious it's for educational purposes. I am editing AM 1997 and Korean swear words are bad enough. Then you add on Gyeongsang do and Busan words. I am like " do you want to kill me? I am here for the pretty boys "
지랄한다 means epileptic ( I know!! ) but used for bullshitting.
씨팔, 씨발,씹할 F word so Koreans will ask you to not to say십팔 ( 18) but use 열여덟 so there is no mistake. The 18 is used as a wordplay for those 3 real swearwords.
재수없어 means unlucky. But used to say " you suck"
I had a list of swearing for a male. And for a female. But I feel really bad now. Saying this on OT. You should see all of us, everyone said we all learnt a lot of swearing working on Gaksital and on AM 1997.
Thank you. This post makes many untranslated things make more sense. . . .and using google translate made me wonder if maybe they use Angle English instead of American English . . . because the translation of 미친년 is rarely used here (In America).

Happy weekend, everybody!
So than maybe I'am k-dramabeans-OT-fan-nerd or something like that?? o_O
I hope your weekend is going well :-) !!!!

FishcalledWanda
October 26, 2012 at 11:51 AM

Are you watching any other dramas next to GD?
Required fields are marked *
Ladytron33
October 26, 2012 at 4:14 PM

The festival was wonderful! Thank you for asking.

So...mid terms? Wishing you much success.

It's been a long time!
Happy OT drama beanies!
how is everyone? I just realized that full time job and studying online for a course so unrelated with your job will most probably go down the drain.
It's a good thing I have kdramas to keep me sane...altough I can go insane sometimes with the plot twists and things in between.
Anyway
I'm loving Nice guy. I stopped reading faith 3 episodes ago, I might go back at it in the near future. Arang and the magistrate ended magnificently!
With all my raves and (mostly) rants in life....
Life is still good!
Got to sleep! although most people don't have work on some Saturdays, I am not most people....hehehe....got to work hard for the money...
Have a great day everyone!

Oh!

IhavewatchedfourepisodesofFullHouse2andeverysingleonemademelaughandnotATitbutwithit.
There. That felt good. And actually, the show feels good too. I have been giggling. Helpless, honest, oh my god those boys are nuts LAUGHING

Can you tell I've fallen for Ryu's charms?! ;p

That's the one thing that I get kind of frustrated about now, it there are too many shows I'd like to watch but I only have time for two or three at once and then they keep coming out with new ones.

Night all. Me and my bad mouth :-)
