Lee Min-ho in new drama from star writer Kim Eun-sook

Lee Min-ho! Back in a drama! From “rom-com queen” writer Kim Eun-sook! So many feelings to feel! Don’t forget to breathe!
This is quite the power hookup, as far as big names go — Kim Eun-sook dramas are huge hits almost automatically, with A Gentleman’s Dignity and Secret Garden being her two most recent offerings. Perhaps the bigger accomplishment is that her dramas aren’t “merely” popular; they often have that extra little kick that make them pop-culture buzz projects, whether it’s due to a particular line of dialogue or a recurring joke or a blue sequined tracksuit. (Hand-stitched in Italy!)
This drama is titled (a little awkwardly) He Who Wishes To Wear the Crown, Endure Its Weight: Heirs. (I hope it’ll just go by Heirs in the way that the long version of Nice Guy’s title was only used on posters and promos.) There’s very little information available about the concept or story; we merely have writer Kim’s assurances that she is creating the hero just for Lee Min-ho, to suit him perfectly. Considering how her male leads have historically been very memorable, I have no doubt we’re in for an interesting role here.
I’ll admit that I’m not personally super excited about Kim Eun-sook’s work (I have major love-hate relationship with her shows), but I do think that having her name attached to a drama means it’s very likely going to be a fizzy, banter-filled, slick and glossy romantic comedy that audiences just love to eat up, which appeal to a wide age range of viewers, whether teenaged or ajumma-aged or older (hey, grandmas love romance too, right?). And I can definitely get onboard Lee Min-ho being in another romantic comedy.
As for Lee Min-ho… well, he’s Lee Min-ho. You know, I’ll call a spade a spade: Faith finally opened my eyes to the cracks in his acting facade, whereas previously I’d sincerely believed he had once-in-a-generation phenom potential. Now I’ll concede he is a pretty good actor for his age and experience level, but not without some obvious limitations, who has some work to do to upgrade to the next level of his craft. That said, Lee Min-ho does possess a rare spark that lives regardless of technical skill, and he may still be a once-in-a-generation actor in a pop-culture sense — damn, he is popular. It’s his special It Factor that makes him so exciting to watch… and no, the beauty doesn’t hurt.
Directing is Kang Shin-hyo, who worked on Tazza and Midas. Heirs will be 20 episodes long and plans to air on SBS later this year.

I'm sorry for noticing someone who does everything to be noticed on this thread: Being an enthusiastic fan is nice but here it's getting annoying (for me at least) and it can be considered spamming. To her defense, maybe that person doesn't know how it works on DB: I would call that tacit rules if you wish. On soompi or on all kpop, you can spazz and rave all you want. Here we are more used to a relative moderation.

I agree that her reply was too harsh. Everyone is different and it is normal for some 18 year olds to feel the way you do. I suggest that you don't get to overworked by rumors that more than likely will turn out to be false anyway. Just wait to see who is casted! Fighting!

think it's quite natural for a young girl to be overly excited as far as her idol/admired is concerned.....can't really blame her. So to label her as "scary" is of course too much for her take in, let alone accusing her of having mental problem etc

I've just finished reading all of the comments
for this new LMH project, and I'm glad that
the conversation veered pretty quickly away
from the USUAL Lee Min-ho drooling. (But
I do love it when people write that they will
watch him in anything: knitting for 20 hours,
peeling some potatoes, or just breathing.) :)
Right off the bat....I loved "Faith!"
I bought the OST (original sound track) as
soon as it was available; it's now permanently
glued into my CD player. Some spectacular
music there, all written by one composer.
I never get tired of listening to all 23 tracks.
Reading the comments here, I was surprised
that the majority opinion was the lack of good
work by the director, because I thought that
the flaws in "Faith" were the fault of the writer.
TWO.....TWO TIMES the evil uncle poisoned Eun
Soo? And then skedaddled back to China-Yuan
without getting his head cut off? And I went
crazy trying to figure out the time travel formula
based on the code (?) written in the diary.
In my humble opinion, THE SCRIPT has to be
the foundation for everything. Confusingly so,
the scenes between the king and queen (when
she lost the baby) were priceless. And I noticed
that there were numerous times when a scene
had NO DIALOGUE and nearly melted my screen.
LMH touching Eun Soo's silhouette, anyone?
In fact, I thought that the chemistry between
the two leads was "not too shabby none." :)
So I think that whatever faults "Faith" had
should be blamed on the script. There's only so
much that a director can do, if it's not written
on the paper first.
In other news, I hope that LMH read the entire,
completely finished script for this newest project,
before signing on. That way he won't have to
repeat the same situation which led to his painful
"acceptance speech" at the SBS award show. And
I hope that before shooting starts on this rom-com,
somebody hides his ridiculous pink lip-gloss and
then buys the guy some socks...........

I particularly didnt enjoy SG or AGD but I finished both dramas just for the hell of it. I read somewhere that this will be a college campus themed drama, which is slightly better than a high school drama... I just hope they don't cast any idol stars for a leading lady, you know how well those go... I also heard that Jung Yonghwa is in talks of being the second male lead, which I'm skeptical of considering CNBLUE will be touring the world this spring/summer. It's just a rumor though.
Im hoping this drama will be a good one, I like LMH but sometimes he bores me. I loved the first episode of Faith but the rest is history.

I am a picky kind of person so not all the actors can capture my attention,I have NOT finished watching a lot of Korean dramas BUT...........
Once I was recommended watching LEE MIN HO'S DRAMAS and then......
I have now COMPLETED all his dramas!!!!
all my friends were SHOCK!!
They could not believe that someone picky like who drops watching series has been AFFECTED!!

I think so specially if you look at their CF's for Étude and the BTS. They match in looks, are compatible age wise, fit the plot setting( college), hallyu stars with charisma and most of all show chemistry even in few minutes of interaction. I would say that it is promising.

Well I had actually wanted PSH to have accepted KBS' Sword and Flowers with Song Joong Ki (although I heard he doesn't plan to do dramas this year) as I think they would be an awesome pair but alas it had to be... For me, LMH and PSH look good together VISUALLY but as for their chemistry... well I'll see when it starts airing. I just though Sword and Flowers would have been a better choice for her to display her acting range (sounds like a melodrama but don't know for sure) haven't seen her in any period dramas yet and also just because I'm getting bored of her in rom-coms now. Hopefully she will bring good chemistry with LMH and be a BADASS female lead (please no sort of timid/innocent/tough-on-the-inside-kindhearted-on-the-outside heroine PLEASE). I loved the writer who did Secret Garden with the witty banter and dialogue also watched a bit of Gentleman's Dignity too so the setting better not disappoint (yes, I'm a stickler for beautiful locations in kdramas) Please let the writer give us a badass leading girl! x

I know where you are coming from. I hear you. The timing suits her with the graduation and Fan meetings. She does say that she wants to do her age roles and wants the transition to older ones gradual. I think she is wary after her experience of playing the much older characters in Tree from Heaven and Kimchi Radish.
As far as their chemistry is concerned no one can say it with absolute surety but in recent past the media did call her the queen of chemistry in an article with pictures of the male leads she has shown that with like JGS, JYH, LSG, YSY, Lee Wan etc. With good acting, script, director they should be able to create it.
I feel that she would not have accepted this role if there was no substance to it. Eg FBND, dWIAG and MOR7. But, I too back you 100 percent in wishing for a badass leading girl for more than one reason. She has the ability to play it well. It would make or an absorbing drama too ....one I can get behind.

oh woah, i must not be keeping up with this blog properly nowadays—how did i miss this announcement??
lee min-ho has been rather stiff in every character he's taken on since BOF. in BOF he was just ON, and intense, and alive and crackling. his subsequent roles just haven't quite lit my world on fire. city hunter should have been a pretty intense character but even there, though i enjoyed him and the drama, he seemed slightly stiff and even a little wooden at times. but darn, if he isn't fantastic to look at. he rocked the mane of glory in faith, and confirmed a Fact: he looks way better with curls than straight hair.

I think its time for Lee Min Ho to be paired with actress that is younger than him. His leading actresses are always older than him. They maybe pretty & look younger in their physical appearance but they can't deny their age. I read somewhere that this drama is a youth-oriented college dramas. So I'm not amazed that they picked her because its in her age-range.. It'll be a great movie for sure!

but this time the actor is young,so there must be other changes in her drama as well as that!

I forgot 2 mention something I believe "Faith" is a great drama and kim hee sun and lee min ho have chemistry despite their age gap!

I'm not very good with dramas... But I heard LMH and KWB are both very good. Park shin hue and the others seem okay too. Besides... Krystal Jung is not that bad of an actress. I watched High kick and she was ok. If you hated her character that meant she was a good actress because she was so suppose to be that kind of character. In real life Krystal is an introverted person and I'm in quite of an agree meant on a astrological analysis on her (http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Krystal_Jung).
