Choi Jin-hyuk offered role in Heirs

Woohoo! Choi Jin-hyuk — aka the most romantic gumiho ever — is currently up for upcoming buzz drama Heirs, which stars Lee Min-ho and Park Shin-hye and comes from the pen of star writer Kim Eun-sook (Secret Garden). He’s received the offer and is currently “positively considering” it. Everybody knock some wood, throw some salt, and do your rain dances now!
This is also the drama that recently lost or dropped (depending on how you read it) Jung Yong-hwa due to conflict of opinion with the producers. Now, I think Yong-hwa’s cute and talented as a musician, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking that this would be the best trade-off EVER. I love Choi Jin-hyuk all on his own, though, so I’d be excited no matter whom he was replacing. He has a wonderful warmth and groundedness that makes him super appealing even in terrible projects (ahem, It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl), though of course I’d prefer seeing him in something solid.
If Choi signs on (please oh please), the cast would actually be much better than I dared hope; when the second lead slot opened up again I figured the most I would hope for was an appealing young guy who maybe had some charisma who wouldn’t totally sink the ship. Instead we get a guy who might seriously challenge my allegiance to the main romantic pairing, because seriously, what’s it take for Choi Jin-hyuk to get a Happily Ever After around here? (See: I Need Romance, Panda and Hedgehog.) And even when he does, well, the drama tends to not be worth watching.
I do think the entire cast is a bit old to be revisiting adolescence (Park Shin-hye could pull it off, but the guys are definitely twentysomething leading men now) but the drama is reportedly all about chaebols (thus heirs) and sparkling romantic comedy told in a Gossip Girl-like way, and Gossip Girl always felt like it was 16-year-olds acting 30. (Which is funny since Kim Eun-sook’s characters are usually 30 acting 16. But maybe this weird dichotomy will work out well for this project.)
Gah, now we just have to wait. Till October. Which is forever away.

This is much stronger casting. I am wondering over the characters now, because both he and LMH are fairly strong physical and personality presences, and generally you see the two lead males as foils/contrasts for each other (i.e. put the two together you have the perfect guy). If either one of them is taking on a softer, gentler, or even comic character, well hey, this just got interesting.

I'm so relieved that a non-crappy actor has taken the role! Knock on wood, of course, Drama Gods - I would never presume to know your ways. ;-P
I've only seen Choi Jin-hyuk in Panda and Hedgehog, and that drama was so adorable that I have positive feelings about almost every actor in the show. I remember a fellow beanie saying Panda and Hedgehog makes you want to vomit rainbows, and it's true, it's true, it's really true.

I am totally excited about this news...i love how you said "positively considering"....i hope your next news would be, it's a done deal...ke ke ke...
i wanted more of him in Gu and felt bad about him in Panda....totally a HUNK!!!
of course i love Park Shin Hye and her pairing with Lee Min Ho and adding him had upped the ante a whole lot!!!

The casts are past their high school time. Maybe if it's college, it'll be more believable. I'm glad that he is considering the role, but I think this drama is going to be a skip for me.

This guy's freaking cheeky smile won me over. I've actually watched all his crappy dramas just because he's soo freaking adorkable!
(Yes I'm side-eying you It's Okay Daddy's Girl [it's really not okay!!] and Panda and Hedgehog)
I was going to watch this drama for our leads but yay for a 3rd reason! I might have 2nd lead syndrome again because of him!

OH PLEASE.. accept the offer!!! I was kinda disappointed that yong hwa drop out after all the grand announcement. but this news brought back the joy for me!!!
I still prefer the parents story more than the story now...

OMG!! When I first started watching dramas, I thought that acting skills meant a lot. But honestly, an appealing actor can really lift a drama and make me like an otherwise shitty character. And you sometimes do not get to see the full potential (or disaster) of the actor's prowess until that one drama anyways. But you can tell when an appealing actor appears and he will always guarantee a good, if not bearable watch.
THIS GUY is like that. Also, all the actors on Can we get married. I really appreciate directors who cast well instead of cast by popularity.

I in seventh heaven! when I first heard about LEE MIN HO'S NEW drama,I GOT so happy!!!!
in one of LMH's interviews,he mentioned that he likes 2 act a rebellious person.
It is a dream come true!!
I am pretty sure that his character is gonna be rebellious and cool but for sure a lot more 2 his character than what I have mentioned.
I do not think that PSH is gonna act a poor girl.
Kim eun sook has declared that she is gonna create a character which suits LMH perfectly!! I am so excited about it!!! :)

saw a lot of comments saying its going to be a high skul drama, please not again, these are grown man..i love LMH to pieces but i prefer a more age appropriate role...personally i think his role in City Hunter was his best to date...both age and character wise....omo omo omo, perfection.
