Kang Ji-hwan courted for new revenge drama

Kang Ji-hwan casting stories are always the slipperiest buggers because nine times out of ten they don’t stick, but he’s reportedly being wooed to headline the new drama from the writer of Gaksital. Consider me interested. The new Wednesday-Thursday drama for KBS is called Golden Cross and is being prepped for the spring, to air after Age of Feeling. The reports range from “considering” to “undecided,” so it seems too early to do dances of joy.
Golden Cross will be helmed by the writer of Gaksital and the PD of Be Strong Mr. Kim and Mary Stayed Out All Night. The director is not instilling the biggest confidence in me, though I guess you could say that the writing was the far (faaaar) crazier part of Mary Stayed Out All Night. That’s half-full, right? It’ll be a revenge thriller about a man who gets sucked into a conspiracy and loses his family in the process, and then sets out to get payback.
It’s a good-guy revenge story though, because if he signs on, Kang Ji-hwan will play the hero who becomes a prosecutor after his father and little sister die unjustly. That certainly makes it a different brand of revenge, and I like the idea of one guy going up against a massive conspiracy that puts the thrill in the clue-hunting and investigating. It’ll be a year after his last drama Incarnation of Money if he takes the part, but I have a feeling we might be playing Leading-Man-Go-Round with this drama for a while longer.
Golden Cross plans to follow Age of Feeling in April.

PD aside, I don't usually watch revenge. But if you give me the writer of 'Gaksital' and Kang Ji Hwan, how can I say no? I can't. So let's hope Kang can't either. :P

prosecutor + revenge.....it sounds exactly like 'Incarnation Of Money'.....
I love Kang Ji Hwan and liked IOM a lot but I want to see him in a different role this time...

Yes! I was thinking the same thing, sounds just like "Incarnation of Money". I'd say my favourite role of him to date was in Coffee House.

Wait, wait, what about Be Strong Geum Soon? Anyone who likes KJH can't miss this drama, it's a hit!!! A+++!!! Home run!!! (I'm running out of words to express how good this drama was) And the only drama of KJH to display how beautiful his neck it :) (and great writing- it hit 40% viewership)

About the PD, i heard many good things about his directing. Wasn't he also the one who directed some acclaimed kbs short dramas?? And cheer up mr.kim, although i didn't watch it, considered as well made daily dramas?

Oh so this is going to be up against You're all surrounded back at SBS? That's ironic because the PD of that drama is KJH's PD in IoM. So, a revenge drama without a love line with the killer's daughter? Hah, that's already something new to me!
Gaksital was awesome so I'm all in just for the writer, but I'm not too fond of KJH. But if we're going on a merry go round with the cast, maybe they'll get someone I like. If not, I'll probably check it out anyway.

Hmmm... I hope he takes it. Though the premise sounds like his previous drama, in that one he became a prosecutor not because HE wanted it. He was just an investment of the gentleman of Jingogae at first, whereas here it sounds like it will be a different route. A suivre...

Oh such great news!! I hope he says yes. Soon. I miss him so bad! I watched him in Gong gil dong and then capital scandal. So amazing as an actor. If Faith had him, I would have watched that too.

I loved Gaksital and I like Kang Ji Hwan. And it does sound like IOM which I loved too. Am all in.

April is so far away but I'm soooooo happy if KJH comeback in a new drama after IOM..
I'm very love them "KJH-SYR" in HGD (best couple n good chemistry).. I hope they will be back together in a new drama project on KBS (melodrama & rom-com of course).. Hheee

Totally agree with AAAA on "Be Strong Geum Soon" being a smasher : A+++!! One of the best K-dramas!
Kang Ji Hwan is simply brilliant!! Just love how he smiles to himself silly while thinking of Geum Soon and chasing her around. Am still re-watching this awesome drama-really lost count of how many times to-date. Whew...
