I Need Romance 3: Episode 12

Oh the battle between the things you want to say and the things you think you should say, and dealing with what actually comes out of your mouth. If only those things would line up. Everyone says something they wish they could take back in this episode, and sadly for them, there are no do-overs.

EPISODE 12: “No matter what side of yourself you show, I’ll stay beside you”

After their argument in the middle of the street, Wan follows Joo-yeon ten steps behind her the rest of the way home. He sighs aloud that the kind of person who’d put her first is right by her side…but she can’t see him.

He regrets his jealous rant earlier about not wanting to lose her to Tae-yoon, realizing that she’s already upset and he just made things worse for her. “I should’ve just smiled, ‘I love you.'”

She eventually stops and tells him not to follow her, though he points out that they live together, so how could he not go in the same direction? She turns to go the other way, and he apologizes for everything, saying it was his fault.

She’s annoyed, among other things, at being mortified in front of Se-ryung and Wan. He assures her that it’s okay, and she can cry, or be embarrassed, or be anything in front of him. She wonders if he’s dumb: “I like that person!”

He gets the message and says he knows, but then when she starts to defend Tae-yoon (that it wasn’t his fault), Wan gets riled up again: “Before deciding right or wrong, you were hurt! Then he should’ve protected you first! He’s supposed to like you!”

She counters that she doesn’t need protecting, and it’s not like she’s new to Se-ryung’s manipulation. She invokes the work behavior code again, and Wan blows another fuse: “Agh, work work work work! Do people who gather for work not have hearts? Do they scoop out their hearts and leave them at home?! And why can’t you just say that you’ve been hurt when you’ve been hurt? Are you cool for pretending that you’re fine?”

Of course the rant only gets him back on her bad side, and he’s left trailing after her, asking meekly if he can come along if he stays quiet. She heads to her neighborhood bar and gives him a half-hearted warning that he’d better not come in, and he scoffs that he has pride too.

The bar unni just serves her two glasses knowing that Wan is due any minute, and Joo-yeon drinks alone for a while fully expecting Wan to come in. She stares at his empty glass and gets up to look out the window, but doesn’t see him.

He’s sitting just outside the door shivering from the cold, and gives the owner his card to request a call if Joo-yeon gets drunk. The bar unni is impressed that he’s a composer, and he says he’s rather successful, “But I’m just doing all kinds of stupid things because I like that woman.”

He heads home, where he runs into Tae-yoon lingering outside. Tae-yoon asks where Joo-yeon is, and Wan refuses to tell him. It only takes him two seconds to remember that she really likes this guy though, so he turns around to ask if Tae-yoon even likes her.

Tae-yoon wonders why Wan keeps asking that, and Wan says it’s obvious—because it’s not obvious whether he likes her or not. Tae-yoon argues that Joo-yeon is the only person who needs to know, but Wan counters, “No, the people around her should know. Love her so that the whole world knows how much she’s loved!” Aw.

Wan caves and tells Tae-yoon where she is, though when he arrives she doesn’t even look up and calls him Sweet Potato. Tae-yoon sits down and pours himself drink after drink without looking up at her.

Joo-yeon narrates: “Love is truly foolish. A moment so cold and hurtful… is all forgiven by the fact that he comes to me like this. A person in love only sees what she wants to see, hears what she wants to hear, and believes what she wants to believe. At a single word—sorry—a heart that had turned to ice, melts.”

He tells her he’s sorry, and then when she starts to cry, he reminds her that he doesn’t like it. Argh. She sniffles back her tears, and he muses that she really did stop crying, thinking maybe she listens to him too well—this isn’t work and he isn’t her boss right now.

He thinks back to Wan’s words and admits that he might be a good sunbae at work, but feels pretty pathetic as a boyfriend right now. Well, points for admitting it. Joo-yeon tells him to say it now then—why does he like her? “You haven’t said it once. Do you even like me?”

Tae-yoon: “I like you, Shin Joo-yeon.” He laughs that she’s just like every other woman when she’s dating, and when she prods for the reasons, he says he likes her because she’s comfortable and secure.

He reminds her that he’s already told her in the past that he finds her pretty and lovable, and likes it when she smiles. He pulls a chair over to his side and gestures for her to sit next to him, and cutely asks for a kiss on the cheek if she’s forgiven him. He settles for putting his arm around her as they drink.

She asks how he knew where she was, and he says that the man she lives with told him. She corrects his wording, and says that Wan is like a brother to her. Ouch.

Wan wonders why she isn’t home yet, and snuggles the giraffe as he pouts that they’re taking too long. He gets up with a start and panics, “They’re not… going to stay out all night?”

Across town Min-seok does stay up all night, trying to solve the riddle of Min-jung’s mystery mail. He can’t figure it out, until it finally clicks that maybe, just maybe… she’s pregnant with his child.

He rings her doorbell in the middle of the night and knocks until she gets out of bed and opens the door, and charges in to look for the letter. He finds it along with books on babies, and freaks out: “Are you pregnant? Is it mine?”

She tells him it isn’t his, but he doesn’t believe her, and asks how she could make decisions like this without him. He reminds her that they both said they didn’t want marriage and kids, but stops when he sees that he’s made her cry.

She says she understands that he’s just been hit with lightning, but so has she, and at least he gets to walk away. He’s the one to argue that he doesn’t just get to walk away, because he’s the father.

He’s angry that she thinks she can just decide all this without him, and was planning on having the child without so much as letting him know. She tells him she won’t ever ask anything of him, but he says whether or not they have the baby, they have to decide together.

Suddenly he stops mid-sentence and looks down at her stomach: “How many months along are you? Did our baby hear that?” Ha, that is crazy adorable.

She tells him the baby is the size of a peanut, so it can’t hear things, even though as soon as he leaves she tells Baby they’ll live perfectly well just the two of them.

Tae-yoon walks Joo-yeon to her door and asks if she doesn’t want to come over to his place. She says she fought with Wan so she needs to go home, and Tae-yoon admits that Wan bothers him. She smiles, flattered that he’s jealous.

She comes home and calls out to Wan, but his room is empty and she deflates. She texts him to hurry home and that she’s going to wait in his room until he’s back, though she doesn’t know that his phone is sitting downstairs on the coffee table.

She plops down on his bed to wait for him there, and I will die laughing if they sleep in each other’s beds waiting for the other.

Yuuup, in the morning, Wan stirs awake in Joo-yeon’s bed, still spooning the giraffe. Mid-yawn it suddenly dawns on him what this means, and his voice cracks, “She didn’t come home?!”

He stomps around the house spitting this rapid-fire self-berating monologue about how he shouldn’t have told Tae-yoon about that bar, and he’s running around doing all manner of truly idiotic things. This is why I get called Sweet Potato. I’m not a love messenger. It’s not like you get a reward in this life for being nice!

He refuses to accept it and his brain nearly explodes thinking about her sleeping over at Tae-yoon’s place. But then he finds his phone, filled with texts from a worried Joo-yeon who’s waiting in his room. Instant happy. It’s so cute.

He runs up, and then melts when he finds her sleeping in his bed. He jumps in and wraps his arms around her, insisting she sleep for just ten more minutes. She complains but goes right back to sleep, and then he gets to spoon her instead. Way better than the giraffe.

Hee-jae excitedly gets ready for work the next morning and waits for Woo-young to pick her up. But her boyfriend arrives first, to end things for good. She assumes that he didn’t even tell her about passing the exam because he always intended to dump her and move on up.

He argues that his job status was more important to her than he was as a person, and that she doesn’t know how to be happy with herself because she’s always letting other people be the gauge for how she ought to live. Is it wrong that I agree with him? She strikes me as rather shallow.

But she finally shows some depth when she talks to Woo-young, and admits that her ex was right about her—she just went to college and got a job and worked hard, because that’s what you’re supposed to do. She wants to get married and buy a house, but she doesn’t know the reason for any of it, and when someone asks her what her dream is, she has absolutely no idea.

Woo-young is almost a better friend than a love interest, because he reminds her that she’s learned more than most people their age through her relationship, and then asks if she wants to go to the roof to swear at her ex-boyfriend.

The rumor spreads throughout the company that Tae-yoon launched the new brand just to create a partnership with his girlfriend Se-ryung. He calls Joo-yeon into his office and she’s the first to tell him not to pay attention to the rumors.

He hands her a pair of earrings and warns her not to let Hee-jae have these, and then adds that she hasn’t told him that she likes him either. She’s too embarrassed to say it, but tells him via text and he smiles and hugs his phone. Okay, that was cute.

They both get called to the boss’s office, and Joo-yeon gets promoted to the New Brand Director. Tae-yoon’s boss wonders how he can be so calm and confident about Joo-yeon’s promotion, but he isn’t ruffled, which frankly worries me more.

Her team toasts her new position, along with Se-ryung and her crew. The frenemies exchange barbed compliments and remain somewhat civil, that is until Se-ryung announces that she’s going to quit the project all of a sudden.

Her assistant panics, especially because the lawyers just informed them that it’d be a huge financial loss for them to quit now.

Joo-yeon goes straight to Wan’s studio and paces as she says she needs to find a way to crush Se-ryung in retaliation. He thinks that she’s not seeing Se-ryung clearly, because that wasn’t a rational move, but an emotional one—she’s loved and lost and is lashing out.

Joo-yeon doesn’t get it, and Wan points out that she’s broken up with boyfriends without much consequence because she wasn’t in love with them, while Se-ryung is hitting rock bottom.

He says math-wise it seems as though when two people break up they should just be two separate people, but love sends you back to zero, not one whole person. He urges her to think about Se-ryung’s pain just a little.

Meanwhile Se-ryung tells her staff that she doesn’t intend on quitting at all, and just wanted to make Joo-yeon come begging for her to stay.

Back at the studio, Wan points out that he’s packing up his things because he’s done producing the idols and had a showcase today, which Joo-yeon forgot all about. He sighs that success is useless if she doesn’t care to share it with him, and she offers to do anything to make it up to him: “Do you want a present? Tell me what you want.”

He says there are lots of things he wants, but starts with going home. They grab a blanket and sit out on the steps to wait for shooting stars, which she thinks is a pretty lame present.

He asks if she’s cold and says he has a way to warm her up: “Trust me and try closing your eyes.” She does, and he leans in for a kiss. She kisses him right back as the stars come down.

They kiss all the way up the stairs and he carries her into his room. And then he’s shirtless, and on top of her, and is it getting hot in here?

But then… *THUNK*

We cut right back to them sitting in the studio, with Joo-yeon asking what it is he wants to do. Sexy times weren’t even real? That’s just mean.

I know, I know, my brain was telling me that this development wasn’t logical and way too speedy, but damn if I wasn’t swooning six ways to Sunday anyway.

Joo-yeon: “What?” Wan grins like a fool, and then says now isn’t the time, but she should know he hasn’t given up. And then he just asks for celebratory ramyun.

Min-seok waits outside Min-jung’s door and asks to talk, promising that it’ll be the last time he bothers her. He says he’s thought about it from all sides, and he can’t marry her and he honestly doesn’t want a child because he hates kids.

He offers to support her financially, but that’s all he can do, and says he’ll be the one to move out. He says he picked up something for her that his mom ate while pregnant with him in the winter, and she opens the package to find strawberries.

She cries as she eats them, reminding herself that she wasn’t expecting anything from him. Still, she can’t help but feel disappointed.

Tae-yoon gifts Joo-yeon with a new nameplate for her new desk, and when he hears about Se-ryung wanting out of the contract, he offers to go talk to her. Joo-yeon wants to handle it on her own, and he tells her that Se-ryung is bluffing because it doesn’t make financial sense for her company to break the contract.

Joo-yeon meets her for drinks and ponders how to handle it—does she try empathy and honesty, and hope that Se-ryung returns with sincerity of her own? She considers trying it Wan’s way, and then Woo-young texts her to say that the other potential designers fell through, so Se-ryung is their best bet.

She closes her phone and then counters Se-ryung’s bluff with one of her own, and says that they’ve found someone new to work with. It leaves Se-ryung fuming.

Joo-yeon calls Tae-yoon to say that she might’ve played it badly, and if Se-ryung isn’t actually struggling to buy herself out of the contract financially, it could backfire on her. He thinks Se-ryung will be calling them back in no time, and suggests a movie date.

Wan and Joo-yeon arrive home at the same time, and he catches up to her on the steps. She plops down in the street and sighs that she thinks she won… but it doesn’t feel good like it used to.

She says she thought about doing it his nice way, but thought she’d never beat Se-ryung that way, so she just played it her way. Though now she wonders why winning doesn’t feel as awesome as it did before. “It feels like I was wrong, for some reason.”

Wan (voiceover): Ever since I came back to you, it felt like I was always seeing two of you—the bright and innocent you from a very long time ago, and the present you. I had hoped that you would be the same as the Shing Shing I had known and loved.

But now I realize that that was my selfish desire. Because the more I bring up the past you, you wear that guilty face like you’re doing now. So I’ve decided to fold my selfish desire and just accept you as you are.

He pets her on the head and tells her it’s okay. She asks hesitantly if he’s really not going to scold at her. But he says it’s okay: “No matter what side of yourself you show, I’ll stay beside you.”

He stretches out his arms for a hug, and she smiles and jumps for him to carry her, along with a giggly squeal. It’s the cutest thing.

It also happens right when Tae-yoon walks up to pick her up for their date, which they don’t notice. Wan puts her down and she looks up into his eyes, and then they finally notice Tae-yoon standing there with a dongseng-my-foot look on his face.

COMMENTS

If Tae-yoon’s jealousy is what it takes for Joo-yeon to open her eyes to the fact that she doesn’t act like Wan is just a dongseng, then bring on the jealousy. I know she says she likes Tae-yoon, and I do believe her. But when your boyfriend asks you over and you choose to go home to Sweet Potato, then fall asleep in his bed waiting for him and spend the morning spooning, he is not just a dongseng. Obviously we knew she’d need some help figuring this out, but there’s an added appeal in the idea that Tae-yoon might inadvertently help open her eyes to the fact that she kinda sorta maybe accidentally ended up with two boyfriends.

Tae-yoon softened a little in this episode, and okay, he may not be the world’s worst boyfriend ever. But despite Se-ryung’s intention to be hurtful, I agree with her assessment of his relationship with Joo-yeon—he’s with her because she’s easy and safe, and not at all complicated and difficult for him. He was burned badly by Se-ryung whom he could never control, and just wants an easy relationship (and if he can control her as a contender at work at the same time, then he wins both ways). Maybe that’s not evil, but it’s also not love. It already hurts when she swoons at his every word and he doesn’t have the same emotional stakes in their relationship, and I know she has to get there in her own time, but part of me just wants to reach in there and rip that band-aid off before she falls even harder.

On the other hand, clearly pain is good for Wan, because he’s doing a lot of growing up while he waits for Joo-yeon. For all his complaining, he still sends Tae-yoon to the bar because that’s what Joo-yeon would want, and he even comes around to the realization that trying to change her might also be making her unhappy. Wanting to make someone the best version of herself is great, but he’s also been spending all this time and energy trying to make a project out of her based on his idea of who she should be. It comes from a sincere place, but it’s also one-sided, and doesn’t take into account the person she’s become in the seventeen years that he wasn’t around. Wan’s biggest obstacle is his first love, because Joo-yeon is no longer that little girl, and if he’s going to love her in the present, he has to accept her as she is in the present.

It’s simplistic, but the contrast between Tae-yoon (Don’t cry. You’re pretty when you smile) and Wan (It’s okay, you can cry. You can be any version of yourself, and I’ll be here) in this episode says it all. Top that with loving her for who she is in the here and now, and you get all the fantasy sequences you want. Right? That’s how this works, right?

WOW! I think a lot happened in this ep. My questions for this ep.:
1-When JY said, “do you know that you are sorry?” (talking to TY), did she mean “are you sincere in your apology? Do you mean it?”. What she said is not to be taken in a literal sense, right? 2-Does MJ know that JY and TY are dating? She acts as if she knows, very often looking like she feels bad for JY, and glancing in JY’s way. But then later, she asks TY “why is your girlfriend like that?” (and she meant SR). 3-When JY got promoted, did she become the equal of TY? Same level (management, position) at the company?

JW broke my heart in this ep., continuing to fall deeply in love with JY (it just felt that way. There is no limit to how much JW loves JY). I got the feeling that he wants to give her her space, accept her choices, see her live out the consequences of said choices, and continue to physically and literally be by her side while all of that is happening. Thing is JW, you are human, and you are deeply in love, so no, you cannot love her selflessly. JW thinking that JY had spent the night with TY, and his reaction the morning after showed us, just how much he really wants her for himself. And that dream sequence of his, yeah, JW has it bad for JY. That dream sequence almost gave me a heart attack, I thought JY was cheating on/two-timing TY. I am starting to wonder if it is wise for JW to continue to live with JY.

I also loved that JW gave TY a piece of his mind, and that he challenged him in his treatment of JY. I still don’t know that I agree with JW, completely. I liked that TY actually listened to JW, and he took his piece of advice and he explained himself to JY. I think that TY was going to do that anyway, since he had told JY that they should talk about their issues later. One of the problems I have, is that we don’t know if there is a policy at that company about dating a co-worker, or a subordinate. Maybe there are no rules against dating there, since WY wants to date HJ, and TY and JY are dating as well. Still, there are repercussions to think about, such as behaviors perceived as preferential treatment (HJ complained that TY only bought or brought earrings for JY), etc… TY and JY haven’t thought about those issues, and I am a little concerned about that. Even TY’s boss, asked him if he was OK with JY’s promotion, so… When TY explained himself to JY, he made sense to me.

I really loved how WY comforted HJ after her conversation with her ex. And WY was right. HJ wants a better life for herself, and I am not sure what is wrong with that. MS not only figured out that MJ is pregnant, he clearly let her know that he didn’t want anything to do with the pregnancy and the baby. MJ broke my heart when she pretended that she was OK, however her tears showed that she was wishing to be raising the child with his dad. I feel that MS is scared, I am hoping that he will have a change of heart. And the stunt that SR and JY pulled on each other, hum… I am curious as to how that will pan out. JW sleeping with the giraffe, super cute. JW embracing JY, and telling her to sleep some more, awww… Why can’t she see that this man is all about her? I don’t get her at times.

Thank you for the recap! I think the writer gave us that bed scene so we would have something to look forward to, like the writer did in YFAS, with the dream sequences. I have learned that writers do that, when we have to wait a while for the OTP to get together. JW sure is a patient man. I felt so bad for him, when he was out in the cold. I couldn't believe JY would let him stay outside. Even if she sees him as a harmless dongsaeng, you don't do that. Especially not to Sweet (emphasis on "Sweet") Potato.

1. I think she was asking if he really knows that he was wrong and apologizing, not just saying sorry for the sake of saying it.

2. MJ does not know that they are dating.

3. Same title, but less senior. She is still his hoobae.

As for company policy regarding dating, it may be okay for co-workers of same level dating, but I seriously doubt that it would be okay for a supervisor dating a subordinate. That's usually a no-no anywhere.

It actually annoys me that she doesn't take Wan seriously. He's told her numerous times that he likes and loves her and has shown in action. If you don't feel the same, that's fine, but to basically dismiss his feelings by calling him a younger brother upsets me. That's kind of callous and disrespectful in my opinion.

On the other hand... how lucky is this actress to have passionate kissing scenes with BOTH men? So hot... I'm rooting for Wan, but I have to say I found both scenes hot. tee hee

I don't know if I'm the only one, but JY telling everyone that Wan is a dongseng... I don't know. It excites me because I think she's already fallen in love with Wan. You know, this is JY, who doesn't even know when she's in love. Plus the hint on the earlier episode, with JY wondering if perhaps SR is obsessed with TY, and that what SR was feeling wasn't love >_< I think it's a foreshadow, that maybe JY's the one who is obsessed. Just like Mr Darcy, I think that JY is already in the middle before she knew she actually already began... :))

And this is me being optimistic! Haha! What I learned is that the more Wan suffers, the greater the reward he will reap. It's basically the law of this world :)

evil - live -love, so intertwined.

I loved the teeny toast between the JY and SR. Celebrate. Not.

TY is great at telling others not to mix work and play, but what about him? He should have known not to bring ex-girlfriend SR into his business after their bad breakup. Cause what a mess and how uber foolish of him to think it would work. What was he going for in that decision?

Ty is a bad guy, I guessing he's as hot a bad guy as the other five guys whose rings are in her glass. There won't be a sixth ring to plop in there, since he didn't give her one. Or flowers. Or love.

But the earrings are beautiful. Keep those no matter what and wear them. They look good on you, JY.

oh man what a bugger! getting pretty excited about that smexy scene.

I love the fact both JY and Wan are starting to complement each other. sometimes, we can't see true love since it's been covered by the fake one. I do understand JY's crush on TY but I think there's nothing more it to. If she's really in love with him, she'd pick him over Wan all the time. But instead she chose Wan, and I'm sure everybody knows the fact that the person she's in love is actually is Wan. She just doesn't know it yet.

Oh time please pass quickly!

When it escalated that quickly, I kinda knew it was a dream sequence, but I was hoping it was JY's. It would be hilarious if she was having sexy thoughts about her "dongsaeng" when she is in a relationship with her sunbae.

On a side note, the only disappointment I have from the show are Woo Young and Hee Jae. When I first came to know that Yoohwan was supposed to be in the sisterhood trio I expected a lot more than the Woo Young-Hee Jae storyline. I don't want them to take away any screen time from the OTP but is it too much to ask for a tiny bonding scene within the girls(and Yoohwan) sprinkled amongst more smexy Wan-JY time?

OTP= The couple that is supposed to be together, and that will be together at the end of the drama. You can often (or always) tell who they are by looking at the posters of a movie or a drama.
They are often in the center/middle of the poster (if the poster has the main characters on it), or the OTP (or lead couple) will be the only people on the poster. That is the case for JW and JY. On the poster I have seen, JW and JY are the only people on it, and they are embracing each other (kind of).

While this version of INR had an interesting concept, none of the couples has really drawn me into their relationship and there isn't nearly as much friends "fun time" b/c the lead female (and 2nd male lead/romantic rival) are so screwed up, as is the youngest of the 3 females.

While the female lead in INR2 had her issues such as being insecure at times and having a temper (which i liked), she was still able to have a good time and support her friends (not just emotionally but w/ $$) whereas Joo-yeon is so totally messed up that she can't support a friend, well, co-worker in need.

I started off liking Min-jung the least since she had the role of being the romantically detached unnie who was just interested in having a fling, but out of the 3, well 4, females, she is the one who actually seems to have real emotions and not be afraid of revealing them (well, aside from to Min-seok).

Thus far, the Min-jung-Min-seok is the relationship that seems to be the most real, and this was maybe the 3rd or 4th most important relationship in the drama.

While I like Wan, he's too mature and thus, seems to be more of a idealized version of a guy than a real person (yes, there are "good guys", but Wan is like a virtual saint).

I agree that he is merely an ideal rather than an actual guy but I interpreted his behavior as immature since he foolishly believed that she'd be the same girl after all that time and judged her for being realistic and resilient. Now he is definitely (at least in this episode) maturing, but how is he too mature? (I ask this out of curiosity for your perspective not to say your wrong.)

I'd say that Wan thinking that Shing-Shing was the same was just more idealism from him, but when he found out that she was not, he accepted her, but at the same time, tried to change her back a bit to the person that she was.

Wan is just too much of a goodie-goodie to be believable.

He admonishes both Se-ryung and Joo-yeon when they are acting petty, but at the same time tries to get them to understand each other.

OK - that's not too bad, but he ends up not only giving advice to Joo-yeon, but to Tae-yoon, his rival, in order to help their relationship (yes, I know Wan wants Joo-yeon to be happy, but it takes a virtual saint of a guy to do that).

Anyhow, I don't see why Min-seok should be getting disparaging comments.

From the very start - he didn't want a marriage, much less kids - which don't suit some people.

But Min-seok was so troubled by Min-jung's situation that he not only offers to pay child support, but also offers to be the one who moves out (despite having moved in just recently) and brings a goodie for a pregnant lady.

I loved today's episode. It's probably the first time in my life I'm throwing it all away, saying..."Bring on the fantasy! I can accept that it's fantasy, so keep it coming!"

Yikes. They have surprisingly good chemistry.

He looked like he cared at the end of the episode! Yeah, I know it's not love on his part, but I am so looking forward to his reaction. Mostly because I still can't figure him out. The actor who plays him was similarly inscrutable in "Can You Hear My Heart," but I wound up loving him there, even though he was flawed. I can't empathize with his role in this drama though.

Only four episodes left. I would've thought the endgame couple would've gotten together by now. Maybe she'll end up with neither of them? Haha I don't think many would be too happy with that ending.

Love the giraffe. It's a stand-in for Joo-yeon when she's not around.

It's a good thing Hee-jae took the first pair of earrings because I liked the second pair a lot more. Speaking of Hee-jae never really cared much for her romance but I thought the ex should've showed some gratitude for what she did even though all he wanted was her to care for him, not his status. I mean he's better off now than had she not motivated him. I can relate to her situation: not having a dream and all.

Even though Tae-yoon has fallen from grace, he still has his moments like the phone to chest scene after getting the "like you" text from Joo-yeon. I really thought Min-seok would've wanted to settle down and raise the child with her after finding out she was pregnant. Maybe he'll change his mind after the baby comes? But either way I think Min-jung is strong enough to raise the child herself.

I hope taking Tae-yoon's advice doesn't backfire on Joo-yeon at the end and that Se-ryung isn't too prideful to go back because as much as the two have problems, they still need each other when it comes to business.

I really really hope what Min Seok did was some kind of reverse psychology.

I love the dream, I want them together, faster!

There's this one style of directing, that I don't like ever since INR1, its getting better here, but still not liking it. The narration-picture thing. Please lose it

Thanks Girl Friday for the recaps and comments plucked from our collective minds. (What's with that? First the troll writer, now Girl Friday!)

Loved this episode! Wan is seriously adorable, and maturing fast. I hope Shing Shing starts actually seeing his true feelings for her soon. I'm glad she's starting to actually feel things too. Sorry, but Sunbae was really cute this ep. too. (Kdramas have screwed up my expectations of men if the bad guy can act so cute.) Also the fact that he realized he had screwed up makes me forgive him more. Looking forward to some jealousy next week! (Waiting sucks.). However love is not about your own comfort, it's about the one you love's comfort. Hee Jae is finally becoming less irritating. That happens when you reflect on yourself. As for Min Seok and Min Jung - please let this be reverse psychology as some one else wrote! Sometimes their scenes are my favorites! I want the cute couple back together!!

Ok, who wanted to trade places with that giraffe besides me? I know I'm not the only one. ;)

I think all that chemistry was going on because emotionally, she could go that far with Wan. She doesn't know it yet, but she DOES feel something. You know? In the last episode, her kiss scene with TY was sooooo awkward! They've known each other for years, and they feel comfortable with each other right? So why not kiss comfortably!?!?!?!?! It was like a child's first kiss-so freakin' awkward!!!!! I'm hoping that's a tell-tell sign for their ending

My respect for TY has really dropped and turned 180 degrees since the beginning of the series.

Even though there was some cute moments with him, he still doesn't sit well with me because of how self centered he is.

I hate seeing JY so vulnerable like that just falling for him when he just seems to be manipulating her for his own benefits.

I'm not questioning if he likes her or not but the fact that he doesn't care enough about JY to treat her the way he does.

Very well said Girlfriday. I spend some time around here but this is actually the first time that I went all nods to every word written in a recap. clap clap clap.

At this point, It's Joo Yeon that has to decide on what she wants for her self:

a) A career-driven, rational, straightforward relationship with a competitive and dependable man (they sure can strategize like a passive-aggressive SWAT team); or

b) A giggly, cozy, warm, and happy relationship with an understanding and compassionate man.

This goes for the kind of woman she wants to become just as well because those two (beautiful, swoon-worthy) men belong to two very different types of women, who happen to be living in Joo Yeon's body.

She can find security in both types of men because love and relationships, after the kdrama magic, are really about decisions: deciding for it every time, choosing it every time even when it's messy. But she has to know what she deeply wants for herself before she can truly find who she loves between the two.

It's true that Kang Sunbae could have been the one she loved in all those years that she was an independent, agressive woman... but she could be changing, and growing into something else, and Kang Sunbae might not suit her anymore...

Seriously. I love this drama. *slowclap*

Sweet potato:3 Sunbae: zip (fist pump)

I love the look Wan gives him in the end like " how ya like me now?" ( hip hop dance) XD

Honestly I can't figure out why she liked Kang sunbae in the first place, maybe she confused mutual admiration and respect for deeper feelings. Beats me but Wan is definitely ahead of Captain Cold and Calculating.

Kang sunbae just strikes me as cold , maybe that is why he and OSR got along well before . So hopefully Wan stops trying to be a hero and stands up for himself. Can't wait for the next episode !XD

Jealousy ? Why not after all ? I was thinking that for Joo-yeon to realize that she likes Wan more than just a family member, he had to leave the house.

I was thinking that she needed to be put in front of emptiness and so the importance of his presence... but this would have meant that we were going to be deprived of all those cute moments... what would have been, let's face it, a waste... Those two, in this loving and family-like cocoon, make of every single episode a refreshing feeling.

I've started watching this on Viki (because dramafever just takes tooooo long with their subbing, and I'm super impatient) and I used to dislike the on-screen viewer comments thing that shows up at the top, but now I love it, because it's like having a conversation as I watch. I'm constantly talking back to my computer, like, "I know, right? OMG I can't believe it either! Aahh, me too, me too, exactly!" Thank the gods I live alone because anyone who saw/heard me might mistake me for a crazy person.

Thank you so much for the recaps Girlfriday!

You know, I wish you subbed the episodes! When I read your recaps and when you do include some of the lines said, it is so much better than the translation from Viki. Granted they do an amazing thing in subtitling within just a few hours, but maybe it is a rush job we don't get quite the same wording. And it can make a big difference! Some things do get lost in translation. That is why I keep coming back here, because either the way you translate or just write sounds so much better! I really do enjoy your recaps along with watching the subtitled episodes. So thank you!

YJ is so self-centered, yes, the show is kinda about her I know, but she is so into herself, she doesn't have room to think about others, like poor Wan, not even asking how his day went, what he is up to. She is too spoiled with two guys taking care of her, TY at work and JW at home. Gosh, why can't it be me?!
Yes she is busy at work and that is a big deal for her, but so is everyone else, including Wan, and he still has time for her. I hope she will "see" him soon and can do some giving on her part.

I actually really like how MJ's character developped, having a child can definitely change you, so I hope her ex-one-night-stander will come to change too. He probably is scared too and doesn't think he can change, but maybe in his case change is just inevitable.

Ah, 4 more episodes, I think I am learning from Wan, I am just happy to be able to see him and this show twice a week. That is just enough for me.

Yeah, right! I want more topless Wan! Although it is kind of weird as he is so skinny, I think we are used to seeing some muscles in Kdramas, but it is refreshing to see a topless skinny guy...too cute!

Was I the only one amused the Joo Yeon wore Wan's pink coat for pretty much the entire first part of this episode - even when with Kang sunbae. I cannot believe how comfortable she has gotten with Wan in such a short time - and how she believes that is just being friends. With all those couple rings, I'd expect her to be slightly less naive. I love love the giraffe detail. Also really appreciated Min Seok's realistic reaction to min jeongs pregnancy - was not expecting them to go that route, but appreciated his honest and that he was at least going to offer monetary support. I really like how that storyline is being handled. I'm not a big fan of this show - but still some really good moments that keep me watching...and I do hope that Wan and Joo Yeon end up together. I cannot believe she thinks dating her boss is a good idea...

Here is what I think and it's really different from the general opinion here :

Firstly I don't like Wan, never liked him and I'll probably never like him but he's become more bearable in this episode. I dislike his way of loving to me which is agressive, uncomfortable and awkward because he acts like a little boy since ep 1. To me he's still a dongseng but I guess the dear writer will make this weird dongseng-noona relationship seem real and stuff. I wanted to slap him quite a few times and I have no idea how JY can bear such a creepy and glue-like character (he follows her all the time, his whole life is about her, he yells her his insecurities… EW.)

I find Sunbae sometimes quite cold and annoying (as pretty much all the oldest characters in this drama… (perhaps you get colder as you grow?) but I totally am charmed by Nam Goong Min and the way he portrays this character who is classy as hell. And I lovvveee the TY/JY couple, as I say on my twitter… I shall sink with this ship, perfectly knowing that ep 13 is the end of this couple. SIGH. But it went farther that what I expected and my fangirl self is pleased a lot. I wish she'd end up with him but she won't *cries in a corner*.
I loved the way he loves her. It's not agressive, it's not crazy, but it's sincere. He is in a certain mental state : basically he believes that this relationship will… evolve! And I am wondering what exactly is wrong with this? I find it ten times more mature than Wan's way of loving. Okay all that "I love You" is cool and stuff, but what's wrong in believing that love is not all that pink and smile story, what's wrong in believing that you have to take your time to go out of such a complicated love story to move to another one that satisfies you, that is less complicated? What's wrong with wanting to move on with another person even if you still have feelings left for the last person? Feelings don't switch on/off like that. But it's possible to try another relationship and wait patiently for the longing feelings to disappear because you know that no matter how much you love that previous person, you won't be happy with her. And then allow you to try to fall in love again with a person you believe you'll feel good with, a less complicated life and an appeased mind/heart. That's what TY is trying to do, and he is clearly trying (whoever thinks he doesn't… I have no words XD)
And if it doesn't work, then it doesn't work, it's not the end of the world. But their relationship is definitely worth a try. Also, I am sure it'll bring them both more good than all these other people that are turning around them (Wan and Se Ryung). Why can't those people let them be and move on with those one sided loves (although I know I'm wrong because I guess the writing is telling us JY is in love with Wan sigh … When I don't believe one sec it's realistic even with an unrealistic character such as Wan).
I found Wan getting angry really ridiculous, as I said he just yelled his insecurities (but I'm glad he's starting to understand his flaws), and when it was time to clear up what Se Ryung said, he didn't let TY express himself and just left with JY. Convenient right? Like that TY keeps being the bad bad guy, and Wan is the good good guy. I'm glad the writer was subtle enough to still let the possibility for us viewers to get how more nuanced characters are in this show (at least in my eyes).
Anyway, I'm all for JY/TY! Hwaiting! Ok I...
