God’s Gift – 14 Days: Episode 12

Our dynamic duo is back! We finally get some meaningful answers in the form of major plot and character developments. It’s a refreshing change of pace to get more answers, but everything’s moving that much faster. Each event leads to the next, and it seems like some of the missing pieces are finally coming together. Even though we’re back to square one, some of the precautions have paid off, and Fate is showing slight changes in direction. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

EPISODE 12 RECAP

Saet-byul is taken to the broadcast station against Soo-hyun’s wishes, and Dong-chan races there to try to prevent the kidnapping. Ji-hoon prepares for the debate and steps out of the room to pick up a call from his blackmailer, who tells him to meet up at the same place as before.

Ji-hoon calls the nanny to ask her to take Saet-byul home. Nanny tries to decline saying that she has to be with her daughter, but reluctantly agrees. Then we see why: With her at the hospital is a man in a black hat, who has her terrified.

Dong-chan is stuck in traffic on his way to the broadcast station, and he notices a man on the ground from the accident being covered by an EMT. Dead. He also notices a small black bracelet lying next to him.

This time Ji-hoon takes Saet-byul out to meet her nanny in the parking lot. Saet-byul runs to her as Ji-hoon gets a call.

It’s from Blackmailer, who says he’s pushing back the meeting time. Ji-hoon is interrupted by one of Soo-hyun’s colleagues, who grabs him out of outrage regarding Min-ah’s pregnancy.

Saet-byul almost reaches her nanny but notices that she’s subtly shaking her head and giving her a “go away” look. Saet-byul’s confusion quickly turns to horror, and she instinctively turns to run back to Dad. But he’s occupied in a brewing fight.

The colleague tells Ji-hoon that he sent the adultery files to Soo-hyun, but Ji-hoon calmly informs him that she already knows. He asks the colleague how he found the files, and he says he received them from an unknown number. Ji-hoon follows up with a lawyer response, threatening to press charges for invasion of privacy.

As he leaves the argument, Ji-hoon wonders to himself: what is the purpose of his contact deciding to send blackmail files now, when everything’s already been revealed?

Dong-chan finally drives into the broadcast station just as a large black van exits. He doesn’t give it a second glance, but it’s worth holding to suspicion.

Soo-hyun wakes up from an induced sleep at the mental hospital, but jumps out of bed when she realizes the time: the broadcast for her criminal show is on. At the same time, Dong-chan is at the broadcast station opening every door, searching for Saet-byul.

Ji-hoon is about to go into rehearsal when he gets a call from Nanny, who tells him that Saet-byul never came. Then she tells him to hurry and find Saet-byul. Oh man, she was manipulated.

Right then, Ji-hoon hears the creepy voice on the criminal show — as does Dong-chan from the set and Soo-hyun from the hospital. Then we hear Saet-byul’s voice calling out, “Mommy…”

A flash of terror crosses Ji-hoon’s face as recognizes her voice, and he runs out of his waiting room. He encounters Dong-chan, who grabs him to ask where Saet-byul is, but he’s too panicked to register his words. Ji-hoon runs towards the broadcast set, and Dong-chan heads in the opposite direction.

Soo-hyun hysterically calls out for Saet-byul and tries to run out while the medical staff holds her back. She becomes so frantic that they force an injection in her arm to knock her out.

Ji-hoon runs into the broadcast studio and grabs the phone connected to the killer. He calls out for Saet-byul, but the line goes dead. He drops the phone in horror, and we zoom out from the set to the building to the city, completing the powerful parallel to Soo-hyun’s experience.

Dong-chan blocks the car exit at the broadcast station and searches the cars for any sign of Saet-byul. A smart move, but sadly, it’s already too late.

The president is interrupted with news of the kidnapping, and his face grows grim.

Woo-jin looks over the CCTV footage of Saet-byul in the parking lot. Ji-hoon and Soo-hyun’s colleague dismiss their encounter as a “misunderstanding,” and Ji-hoon says that he assumed Saet-byul ran towards Nanny. But Nanny insists she didn’t see Saet-byul.

Dong-chan enters and takes charge. Reviewing close-ups, he takes note of Saet-byul’s facial expression, which changed from happy to fearful. Ji-hoon gets a call and excuses himself to go to Soo-hyun, and Dong-chan is suspicious enough to follow him. On his way out, he gets a worried call from Byung-tae (he and Jenny are alive!), who asks if Saet-byul is going to be okay. Aw.

On the way to the hospital, Ji-hoon repeatedly tries calling his blackmailer, but he doesn’t pick up. How many agendas does this guy have?

Soo-hyun desperately asks Ji-hoon if Saet-byul was really kidnapped and blames him for everything, while he has nothing to say. She demands to be released from the hospital.

While Dong-chan waits for Soo-hyun outside, he takes out Saet-byul’s pin and tries to remember why he originally had it. All he can remember is getting beat up by the gangsters and then getting a phone call that he never picked up. He lost his phone that night, and as he’s trying to remember more, he sees Soo-hyun and Ji-hoon walk out.

Ji-hoon tries to justify that putting Soo-hyun in the hospital was safer for her, but Soo-hyun is not taking any of his bullshit. She gives him a well-deserved slap across the face and some stinging words: “I want to pluck out my eyes for falling for you, rip my mouth for saying that I respected you, and kill myself for trusting you.”

Dong-chan swoops in to take Soo-hyun, but Ji-hoon grabs her wrist and insists that they go home first. She gives his wrist-grab a silent stare, which prompts him to let go.

As soon as they leave, Ji-hoon calls Blackmailer, who finally picks up. He tells him to let Saet-byul go, since he’ll hand over the goods. Blackmailer just hangs up on him.

Dong-chan and Soo-hyun head to Moojin, expecting the killer to take Saet-byul to the abandoned shack by the water. Inside the shack, we see Saet-byul, scared and crying for Mom.

As Ji-hoon waits to hand over the evidence, he gets a call ordering him to wait for further notice. He’s frustrated and resentful, but he has no choice but to wait. He gets another call and repeats that he’ll hand over the goods, but something said in the call makes his face change from desperate to serious.

Huddled inside the shack, Saet-byul’s eyes brighten when the doors open, hoping for Mom. We see Soo-hyun enter a shack, but Saet-byul’s expression turns into one of terror.

Soo-hyun and Dong-chan walk into an empty shack, Saet-byul nowhere in sight, and we transition to the next day: Five days before the incident.

They can’t go to the police insisting that Saet-byul will be brought here, so Dong-chan orders Byung-tae to come to Moojin to watch the shack with Jenny, who is in the hospital recovering from her beating. Jenny doesn’t let Byung-tae tell Dong-chan the extent of her condition, so he just assumes she’s overreacting to a small injury. Jenny urges Byung-tae to go help Dong-chan, and he calls her a fool for liking someone like Dong-chan.

Dong-chan and Soo-hyun puzzle over the facts: Saet-byul’s face definitely showed fear, meaning she may have seen her kidnapper. Then why didn’t she run? Realizing that this is different from the original kidnapping, where Saet-byul simply ran off smiling, Soo-hyun decides she needs to see the surveillance clips herself.

Woo-jin is appointed the head of Saet-byul’s kidnapping investigation, which is now especially important since the president put in a special order for this case. President Kim stops by the police station to give a pep talk, just as Soo-hyun barges in.

She claims that the facial composite of the suspect isn’t accurate and pulls out the group picture, pointing to the man in the middle as the killer. She gives him the picture and begs him to help her find Middle Man. Dong-chan sees that she’s overreacting and pulls her aside.

Dong-chan scolds her for acting so recklessly and giving the president the picture. What if they use that picture to do a public search, putting Saet-byul in even further danger?

But this was a strategic move for Soo-hyun, who claims that the president can’t just take her word and go after Middle Man — if he’s wrong, he will face the consequences. At the same time, he can’t ignore Soo-hyun’s claim because if she’s right, then he’ll also run into trouble. One step ahead of Dong-chan this time.

Woo-jin joins them, and Soo-hyun reviews the surveillance footage. She also notices Saet-byul’s change in expression, which didn’t happen in the original kidnapping, and also the big black Snake van. Dong-chan remembers the van from that day, so the four of them head over to Te-oh’s house.

Te-oh’s manager refuses to allow a van search, but Te-oh allows it, wanting to prove that he has nothing to hide. Ho-gook finds nothing suspicious in the van, but Soo-hyun notices a piece missing from the big Snake puzzle — which was one of the evidence items found in the shack.

Soo-hyun is convinced that Saet-byul was in the Snake van and demands Te-oh to tell her where she is, and Dong-chan takes the opportunity to run into the house. Te-oh’s manager declines access to the house, but Te-oh once again allows it.

But a search turns up no hint of Saet-byul anywhere, so they’re forced to leave. Soo-hyun and Dong-chan are convinced that Te-oh has something to do with the kidnapping anyway, and Dong-chan promises that they’ll meet again.

Dong-chan and Soo-hyun stake out Te-oh’s house and try to put together what they know. Byung-tae reports that nothing has been going on at the Moojin shack. Soo-hyun thinks back to the evidence found in the shack and tries to recreate a drawing that was next to the Nemesis tattoo drawing on the wall. They’ve still got clues to put together.

They wait awhile, until finally they spot someone approaching. They duck and watch as Fanboy Heidi (the big Snake fanboy who confirmed information on Te-oh’s brother) rings the doorbell of Te-oh’s house. He’s allowed in because he has some tablet device, but Dong-chan and Soo-hyun and quick to snatch it from him. On it is a video clip of the Snake van’s open rear doors with Saet-byul’s foot in plain view. At the sound of Fanboy Heidi’s voice, her foot moves into the van, meaning that she was hiding there.

Evidence in hand, Soo-hyun and Dong-chan go back into Te-oh’s house. Dong-chan yells for Te-oh to come down and explain himself, but his manager stops him: Te-oh had no idea she was in the van.

Flashback to the night of the kidnapping. Manager is driving while Te-oh seems to be very drugged in the back seat. Suddenly he hears a child sneezing and goes to the trunk to find none other than Saet-byul. She begs Manager to help her get away from the scary man — her mother told her to run away from men with a tattooed hand so she ducked into the van — but he tells her to get out.

She notices Te-oh’s strange state and asks if he’s sick. Manager drags her out and tells her that she has to keep everything a secret — her riding the van and Te-oh’s sickness. She promises that she will and begs him to take her home. He refuses and offers her taxi money, but she says that she has enough. With that, he leaves her abandoned on the side of the road.

In present time, Manager lies that Saet-byul asked to be dropped off on the side of the road since she was near her house. Dong-chan yells at him for dropping off a lone child and orders him to lead them to the street where he’d dropped Saet-byul off.

When they get there, Soo-hyun spots a surveillance camera mounted nearby, and they review the footage. Saet-byul is seen hailing a cab, and Dong-chan writes down the license plate information.

Soo-hyun and Dong-chan put together more facts as they head to their next location. Something weird is going on — Saet-byul was in the Snake van at the time of the broadcast, so she how could her voice have been on the air? Now she realizes that Saet-byul’s voice was saying the same thing she’d as when Min-ah took her hostage: Somehow, the killer had a recording of Saet-byul’s voice and played it for the broadcast. Soo-hyun concludes that for some reason, it had to be that day, and it had to be Saet-byul. We just don’t know why yet.

They find the taxi driver who drove Saet-byul that night and ask him what happened. She had given him directions to her house, but once he saw that her fare was only 1000 won (about a dollar) the driver kicked her out. He lies too, saying that the child asked to be let out there, and Soo-hyun and Dong-chan head over to that drop-off point next.

When Soo-hyun and Dong-chan arrive, the photo studio owner is talking to police and tells them that Saet-byul stopped by last night. He was too drunk to remember much, but he knows that he gave Saet-byul the developed photos from the old film in Young-gyu’s camera. I wonder if the old film has anything to do with an old case…

Soo-hyun finds it strange that Saet-byul didn’t make it home, considering the proximity of the photo studio to their house, so they head to the villa security guard for more footage. Though he insists that he didn’t see Saet-byul at all, she’s recorded entering and then leaving the villa.

Soo-hyun and Dong-chan run to the house to inform Woo-jin of this, who orders his team to collect all the surveillance footage from around the villa. The additional footage shows Saet-byul running away and then running into Young-gyu… who’s raising a rock menacingly at her, which doesn’t look good. Dong-chan and Soo-hyun hurry to Grandma’s, then get news that Young-gyu is being held at the police station.

Dong-chan grabs his nephew and demands to know what he’s done. Young-gyu’s face is scratched up, and he still seems to be in a panicked mode. Soo-hyun kneels down next to Young-gyu and asks where Saet-byul is. He replies by saying that he chased the guy with the shoes that Soo-hyun bought him.

Flashback to last night. Young-gyu wanders around the neighborhood looking for Grandma when he spots Saet-byul running away from a masked man all dressed in black. He remembers the promise he made with Soo-hyun to protect Saet-byul and grabs a rock on the side of the road to fulfill his promise.

When he runs into Saet-byul, he tells her to hurry and run. She runs off, and Young-gyu charges at the man with his rock. The man easily avoids him, but Young-gyu grabs onto the man’s legs and bites him. The man kicks him off and gives him a beating before running after Saet-byul.

Back at the police station, Young-gyu apologizes for not grabbing onto the man tighter. Close to tears, he says he really wanted to protect Saet-byul but failed. Soo-hyun looks at him with sadness but also gratitude and embraces him.

Then more news: Saet-byul’s DNA and our murderer’s DNA were found at a greenhouse. When they get there they find the place surrounded by police tape, and we’re informed that the DNA found from the cigarette butt matches the DNA found in the previous murders, connecting this criminal to all the past murders. Hearing that Saet-byul’s hair was found at the scene, Soo-hyun’s legs go weak.

Dong-chan takes Ho-gook to look over more surveillance clips, and notes how there is no surveillance video of our killer’s face. Ever. They look at the guy in one of the clips, who has his back to the camera, but Dong-chan knows it’s not our killer: his height doesn’t match and he doesn’t have the tattoo.

But he does pick up on one thing — the bracelet on this guy is the same bracelet he noticed at the accident during traffic. This guy’s dead.

Te-oh broods over his brother’s note about turning himself in and not being a disappointment to him. He then looks at Saet-byul’s picture and the drawing she left for his birthday. He thinks back to his interactions with Soo-hyun and her claims about his brother, but we don’t know what’s going through his head.

Dong-chan finds Soo-hyun with his revelation that this murderer is not our kidnapper. He likens this to Cha Bong-seob, whose death was planned and manipulated. The murderer linked to the kidnapping had already died of a car accident last night, so there’s no way he’s involved in the kidnapping.

Somehow, our real kidnapper found out who this murderer was and killed him off to frame him as Saet-byul’s kidnapper. But the one important catch: the kidnapper could not have found information on the murderer without an insider at the police station.

Just as Dong-chan finishes his theory, he gets a call from Te-oh. He tells Dong-chan that he thinks he knows who took Saet-byul and tells him to come over without any police.

Te-oh begins by saying that he only recently found out his brother’s secret and gives Dong-chan and Soo-hyun the notebook he’s been reading. Just as he’s about to give them more information, some men barge into his house. Te-oh seems to know what’s going on and hides the two his attic.

Te-oh is arrested for drugs, and he leaves in shock. The officers wonder why Te-oh is suddenly being targeted (since he’s always been off the hook), and Soo-hyun and Dong-chan take note of this. In the attic, Dong-chan finds a picture of the brothers, and behind it he finds a box containing a DVD labeled “The day I sent off my brother.”

Hearing that the officers left, Dong-chan and Soo-hyun go back downstairs to retrieve the notebook, but it’s gone. Dong-chan thinks that someone took it purposefully, knowing that they were there. Soo-hyun then brings up the DVD, which could be from the funeral and possibly have clips of the group picture friends.

While watching the DVD, Soo-hyun and Dong-chan spot Yu Jin-woo (the mayor’s son in the mental hospital), who is mentally stable at the time, and Middle Man. Then Dong-chan notices that one of the funeral wreaths bears a familiar name: Chu Byung-woo, aka Grandpa. How is he linked to Te-oh?

Te-oh seems relieved at the arrival of his lawyer and the mood is causal and light until his lawyer takes out a photo of him and his girlfriend. His lawyer knows that she’s pregnant and advises Te-oh to “take care of things” before they get too complicated. Oh, so this was the real reason you were brought in.

Dong-chan makes a scene at Grandpa Chu’s company, demanding to meet with him. Soo-hyun notices a lady with a folder that has a familiar bell logo — the same bell on the keychain that was found from Saet-byul’s original kidnapping.

The logo is for the Angel Foundation, sending Soo-hyun off to find what the foundation is linked to. Dong-chan finds her staring at one photo on the foundation’s dedication wall, and he sees another photo showing Te-oh as one of the foundation’s promotional ambassadors.

When Dong-chan gets to Soo-hyun, he realizes why she’s looking at that one photo. It’s of Middle Man and suspected Tattoo Hand, who is Grandpa Chu’s son. Soo-hyun then takes note that his name is written as the late Chu Do-jin. Middle Man is dead, and he’s not Tattoo Hand.

Grandpa Chu seems to be getting updates on Dong-chan, and he orders his minions to keep an eye out for him because you don’t know what to expect from him. Very true, but the same goes for you, Grandpa.

Back to the office, Soo-hyun and Dong-chan line up the facts. Te-oh’s brother, Yoon Jae-han, died in a car accident. One week later Chu Do-jin committed suicide, and one month after, Yu Jin-woo was put in the mental hospital. And Chu Do-jin is not Tattoo Hand.

Soo-hyun says that Te-oh is their only hope, but Dong-chan says that it’s impossible to talk to him now because he’s being held under drug charges. Te-oh was strategically taken into custody to remain silent, and the notebook was taken to eliminate all evidence. The only real evidence they have now is the DVD of the funeral.

While going through the DVD, they spot Tattoo Hand (literally just his hand). Dong-chan notices the ring on his finger, which wasn’t on any of the friends, and then he is hit with a wave of realizations. There was one more guy they hadn’t accounted for: the person who took the picture.

Tattoo Hand was the one who took the picture, and seeing that he had a ring on his finger, he was much older and probably married. Dong-chan decides that they need to visit Yu Jin-woo again to ask him more specifically about the person who took their picture, so he calls up Jenny for her expertise.

Jenny arrives at the hospital with Byung-tae’s hat covering her whole face, and Dong-chan takes it off her head. That’s when he notices the big bruises and calls Byung-tae to ask about her face, learning the the truth: they were beat up by Tattoo Hand’s minions for not spilling Saet-byul’s whereabouts.

Dong-chan tells Jenny to go back to the hospital to rest, but Jenny won’t have it. She knows that Saet-byul’s kidnapping had to do with them spilling her location, so she’s going to repay the debt and play her role. Her dedication and loyalty is quite moving.

In the doctor’s office, Jenny is reprising the role of a mental patient, but this time one inflicting self-harm. She sits on the couch slapping her face with both hands while Dong-chan and Soo-hyun check her in with the doctor. Are my eyes fooling me, or did the doctor just smirk? Creepy.

Dong-chan and Soo-hyun head right to the closed ward with the key, but it’s not unlocking the gate. Suddenly the alarm starts to blare and a team of men in suits comes at them. Dong-chan blocks them from reaching Soo-hyun and slides the dropped keys on the ground to her. She gains access through the gate and shuts it behind her.

Dong-chan sends Jenny off in the other direction and locks the door behind her. It takes a second for her to realize that Dong-chan sent her out of danger so that he could face the men on his own.

Soo-hyun runs into Yu Jin-woo’s cell and demands to know who took the picture. He ignores her and continues to write on the wall, so she takes his pencil from him. He grabs her hand holding the pencil and breaks it against the wall. He holds the now-sharp broken pencil to his neck and ambiguously states, “It’s that guy.”

Just then he looks behind Soo-hyun and his face fills with horror. A man in the hospital gowns hits Soo-hyun on the head with a glass container. He crouches down to Soo-hyun’s level on the floor and gives her a blank stare.

He then walks over to Yu Jin-woo, rips a strip from the bedsheet, and wraps it around his hands. He uses the sheet to put Jin-woo into a chokehold.

Jin-woo tries to escape, but the man is too strong. He is lifted into the air, gasping and flailing, and Soo-hyun passes out on the ground.

COMMENTS

That ending gave me the creeps. We don’t know the identity of this hospital man, but I’m thinking it has something to do with our main killer, Tattoo Hand. Everything is interconnected in this show, so that’s my only logical conclusion at this point. I feel like we’re almost always stuck between a rock and a hard place at the end of every episode, but I can never get used to it. Especially when you’re watching alone at night in a dark room. Ackk.

One thing I thought was quite genius was the role reversal with Ji-hoon. This time he’s the one to lose Saet-byul, and his reaction paralleled with Soo-hyun’s was quite powerful. The experience of losing Saet-byul gave Ji-hoon’s character the opportunity to show an instinctive fatherly side of him, and I think that’s something we needed to see. Ji-hoon may be a shady lawyer and an incompetent human being, but he genuinely loves and cares for his daughter. I think that’s just enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Going off this idea of parallels, there was a lot of déjà vu-like moments scattered throughout the episode. They were based off similar threads from previous episodes, but the slight differences made the scenes and ideas even better and easier to understand. Like with the murderer/kidnapper case. We already figured out the intricate covering of tracks by our killer with Cha Bong-seob, so the idea that he would use such an intricate plan again made sense. It’s consistent with our killer’s previous behaviors, and fortunately, our duo is picking up on it.

I appreciate the minor characters once again. I didn’t think we would ever see Fanboy Heidi again, but he just has great timing and brings the evidence right when we need it. It’s quite convenient, and he just cracks me up. Jenny also had great moments in the episode. She only gets a couple scenes, but she makes them count. When she took on the role of the self-harming patient, she did so not necessarily because of Dong-chan but because of Saet-byul. It’s nice to see this kind of dimension in a minor character. It shows that everyone and everything counts.

If Heidi ever gets the chance to hear Dong Chan sing... I wonder if his bias would change, haha.

This episode was made up of lowlife scum and tears.

THE TEARS:
I cannot express how proud I am of Soo Hyun for acting so calm and rational after Saet Byul's kidnapping. She honestly seems calmer after her daughter's kidnapping than before it.

I got misty-eyed when Young Gyu could not stop blaming himself. Poor baby; it is not his fault at all. There was no way a 16-year-old boy could take on a member of the special forces. Soo Hyun really has changed -- before the time slip, she slapped Young Gyu and knocked him to the ground, but after the time slip, she speaks to him gently and hugs him.

Jenny blaming herself also got me choked up. "It's our fault the kid got kidnapped, isn't it?" Dong Chan's face as soon as he saw her bruises was heartwrenching, like he blamed himself for his team getting beaten up if only he had not sent them to look for mother and daughter. But the saddest part has to be Jenny repeatedly slapping herself to make it up to Ahjumma.

THE LOWLIFE SCUM:
In the middle of all our good characters blaming themselves this episode, we have Father of the Year. I want to vomit thinking back to when Ji Hoon outright blamed Soo Hyun for reuniting with an old flame instead of properly sending their daughter off. How's it feel to be on the other side, asshole?

But the Biggest Scumbag Award goes to Tae Oh's manager for kicking a little girl out of his car even after she confided in him she was being chased by a scary man. Seriously!? I partly blame Te Oh for being an addict and thus was the cause of his manager abandoning Saet Byul.

The taxi driver ties Tae Oh's manager for this award for dropping a little girl off in the middle of nowhere. Good God. My blood was boiling during their "confessions" where they conveniently skewed the story to put themselves in a better light, while the audience got to see the truth in flashback.

At least Camera Repair Shop Ahjussi was super nice to Saet Byul, albeit drunk. I need to see what is on those pictures. Since it was Dong Ho's camera originally, it must be related to Soo Jung's death.

I got chills down my spine when Dong Chan said, "I can't believe I forgot the fifth friend" because I guessed out loud "the person taking the picture" literally seconds before he said it. I like how Dong Chan lumped the four friends together, ("three of them are dead so something must have happened between them") because it seems he is finally accepting that Soo Jung may have a shady past that caused her death. Which also means he may believe his hyung is innocent after all.

Thanks for the recap, dramallama!

Panshel - I agree with everything in your post!

I too was screaming at both the manager and cab driver for just leaving a small child alone at NIGHT.

Ji Hoon better be getting back even more than he gave in the emotional pain department. Wasn't this mostly his fault to begin with?

I feel bad for Dong Chan. He is trying to remember what happened during his blackouts and I hope he doesn't fall down if it turns out he is involved somehow. But then again he ended up not hitting the killer with the bat so...fingers crossed.

I think DC is going to have a crushing blow in the next few episodes where he'll believe that he might be involved in SB's death in the previous timely and can't even trust himself! But hopefully SH will be there to assure him what kind of a man he is and how he would never be able to do anything to harm SB, past or present...

I admit I called the manager and taxi driver worst names than "scumbag." And to think, Saet Byul actually turned to her dad for help after Nanny's tipoff and could have been saved had he not been so busy cheating on his wife. Which brings me to the nanny -- I wonder if she was blackmailed in the first timeline too and lied about not seeing Saet Byul in the parking lot.

I will always stand by my belief that Dong Chan had nothing to do with the kidnapping and murder. Perhaps those thugs beating him up at the club were the ones who stuck the hairpin in his back pocket to set him up.

Agreed! I don't think dong Chan has anything to do with Saet Byul's kidnapping at all! During his unconsciousness someone might put the hairpin in his pocket and got him home... Hal-abeoji is that you? Errrr....maybe not...

It's all ji hoon's fault if his daughter is killed.
And the manager and taxi driver are insane you don't do that to a little child.. hope people are not this crazy in reallife.

But young gyu did nothing wrong as well I think... I hope.. i still don't trust him a 100% but he's probably not involved right?

I had the exact same reaction to the realization that there was a fifth friend at the location who took the picture. Chills down my spine because I, too, guessed it seconds before Dongchan revealed it. Now I'm wondering if the writer somehow did that on purpose. Crazy.

To be honest, I've long suspected that the tattoo-ed guy is the guy who takes the pic. I learnt this from watching Hana Yori Dango about the pic of Makino and a guy in bed. Hehe.

Plus the middle man looks nothing like the tattoo man if you look carefully at the scene when he was disguising as the concert staff.

i don't think Ji Hoon even knows that he blamed Soo Hyun for meeting her old flame and losing Saet Byul because it was in the past timeline, it's only SH who knows that she was blamed by him before, for him this is the first time SB was kidnapped, anyway no matter how bad husband he is he still showed that he genuinely loves his daughter, his emotions after losing his daughter by himself was about equal to how SH felt when she lost SB before, he looks very desperate now because that evidence rings he thought might solve everything is not working at all, people don't realize and want to believe something until it's too late, that's how humans are and i don't blame anyone not even Ji Hoon for not believing what SH was saying before about SB getting kidnapped, who in their right mind would believe something like that? plus i knew the kidnapping would happen anyway because the drama has been showing that the fate can be changed a little bit here and there but cannot be avoided, the circumstances changed during the kidnapping but the end result was the same, SB was kidnapped and i don't think even SH could have prevented it from happening, i only hope that SH and DC can prevent her death somehow because i think that's what the drama is trying to do, it looks like if they manage to solve the puzzle SB can be saved...

Your comment basically summed it all up. All these pain and awesomeness bundled up in an hour of lovely-suspicious-pretty souls.

So proud of some of the characters. Tbh I've watched a lot of KDramas and they have plenty of awesome kickass heroes (Dong Chan has climbed to one of the top tho) I am so happy that dramas are beginning to have kickass heroines too. I just hate watching the typical helpless/noble-idiot girls and the same old jealous/bitchy/mean second leads (and additional characters)

Dong Chan is awesome. That's that. How much he cares for the people around me is just so hot. Woo Jin and Ji Hoon are weird af but at least it seems like Woo Jin cares for Soo Hyun and in it to protect her from the other end and Ji Hoon deffs loves Saet Byul. Byung Tae is a cutie.

Heck, despite her silliness of not running back to Ji Hoon after seeing the dude and unbelievably not knowing that 1000won aint enough for a cab; she was so admirable in the past 2 days. She's beginning to listen and gosh did I just want to pinch that little cute face when she realised grandma was lying but continues writing bc she knew grandma wanted to ease mum's heart (and stay as the culprit) instead of burdening her with the truth. And how motivated she was when dong chang calls her his bride <333333

Soo Hyun has admirably and stupidly been reckless throughout the series but I understand that she became calmer after the kidnapping. Instead of "oh shit she's gone" like the first time, and "no I need to stop this" antics before the kidnapping; it's more of just like "and it happens anyway.....alright gotta prepare for our next moves". Her love for Saet Byul is so great and the fact that she seemed like a lousy mum in the first timeline doesnt even change anything since I get that too. She doesn't want Saet Byul to slack and become a "gangster" like girl like herself back then.

All the other mums love their kids very much from what I see. Even the one who threw her kid away (Mimi), the one who abandoned her child (soohyuns mum), the one who refuses to believe her son has the heart to believe that her other son has it in him to kill his brother's girlfriend and even the one who lost her child. Min ah was seriously cray but it makes sense - she wants the child, and that damn child's father wants to kill it. She might have tried to kill Soo Hyun or whatever but in the end trust me I dont think she could; she just doesnt have it in her to kill. She clearly loves her kid but she risked it for Saet Byul; a kid she obviously hates. It doesn't remove the fact that she is dating her unnies husband or her violentness, but it's quite endearing.

And lastly of course was Jenny man. Whoa. So close to being raped for "fun". And she continues working for the sake of Saet Byul and Ahjumma, not even for the Dong Chan she likes. Unbelievable. Hitting herself when she's already hurt to pay back bc she thinks saet byul is kidnapped cos of them? We need more...

I’ve pretty much refrained from speculating about which direction - new paths - the writer Choi Ran is taking/leading us down toward because this each episode is always a rollercoaster of a journey.

As public figures framing and representing both sides of the debate for the country, Han Ji-Hoon’s opposition to capital punishment and the President’s policy stance of supporting the death penalty are significant. It seems more and more likely that the President’s son (Kim Joon Seo) had something to do with the original murder of Soo-Jung and a high probability that he is the perpetrator in the recent string of murders. After all, he was overseas for ten (10) years.

In Episode 10, Ki Dong-Chan quickly defended his brother Ki Dong-Ho to Soo-Jung. However, at Soo-Jung’s crime scene Ki Dong-Chan didn’t really give his brother the benefit of the doubt, jumped to conclusions, and started accusing Ki Dong-Ho before giving him the chance to explain what happened. Reflecting back did Ki Dong-Chan really even give his brother Ki Dong-Ho an opportunity to speak? Similarly in Episode 12, Ki Dong-Chan had the same impulsive reaction/response at the police station with his nephew Ki Young-Gyu.

Previous episodes have established that Han Ji-Hoon had an affair with and impregnated Joo Min-Ah. But what if what has been shown so far was done to distract and mislead viewers to a false conclusion – just another red herring (only a prolonged one)?

We know that Han Ji-Hoon is against the death penalty, is a human rights advocate, and presses for fairness in the justice system. In addition, we learned that Han Ji-Hoon has worked both sides of the law as a Prosecutor and Defense Attorney. Of course, he is probably more mindful than others that with limited budgets and the pressure to do more with less the justice system doesn't always mete out justice.

What if Han Ji-Hoon knows that Ki Dong-Ho was innocent and wrongly convicted? Maybe in his own way and on his own terms he is trying to redress the wrongful conviction. That’s why he tolerates the threats from the anonymous blackmailer/phone caller.

Since the beginning of God’s Gift - 14 Days, Han Ji-Hoon’s actions have shown time and time again that he loves Han Saet-Byeol. Not only is he willing to adjust his plans/schedule to accommodate her, without any hesitation he will look for her each time she runs away, and he prioritizes her wants and needs without fail.

In view of the fact that we are only at Episode 12, I haven’t given up hope for Han Ji-Hoon’s redemption.

Those are all good points. I don't think Han JiHoon is all bad, though I was impressed by his cool demeanor when facing the Blackmailer (until SaetByul went missing).

And to be frank, from his point of view, SooHyun could've looked really hysterical until SB went missing. Then, she would've looked reasonably hysterical.

Finally, the ease with which SooHyun was committed reminded me of a Peep Show episode where Mitchell & Webb tried to section each other while squabbling. The health officer in charge finally said, "No one is sectioning anyone else!"

It's true that DC jumped to conclusions in Young Gu's case. In DH's case, DC asked him if he killed SJ and DH readily admitted to it; and he never denied it after that. And the circumstances in which DC saw his brother didn't help either.

it's not only DH admitting to killing SJ, the motive was right there too, it was not a secret to DC that DH was infatuated and had an unhealthy attraction to SJ, even to the point that SJ was scared of him and was complaining that same night to DC about it, if it was the police in place of DC they would have suspected DH too, plus the fact that when DC left SJ he left her with DH, when he returned back he saw DC throwing her in the water, there are a lot of things that points to DH, most of us are thinking DH might be innocent we know a lot of things that DC don't, i don't blame him at all for testifying against his brother because that's what he saw, now if i want to blame someone i blame whoever the lawyer DH had at that time, how can that lawyer or whoever defending DH not raise the questions and challenged DC about what he saw, about DC blaming YG, DC has already claimed that he only believes what's infront of his eyes and infront of his eyes he saw YG with a rock looking menacingly at SB who was infront of her, of course he thought that YG did something to her. DC is a very flawed character like everyone else and that is what i like about him, he has his good side and bad side like every human being, most dramas only portray hero or heroine in a good side but this drama is different and cool...

You make a really excellent point. Maybe Ji-hoon was acting in good faith when he convicted Dong-ho of the murders of the 3 women. He believed the evidence and believed he got a good conviction. Then somehow he is sickened by the corruption within the system to protect the rich from justice and stands in the rain protesting with the mother (??) of a victim (??) over this. He quits being a prosecutor and becomes a crusading anti-death penalty human rights lawyer. So maybe he wasn't a part of the original fix at all but Woo-jin, as a young cop who has risen suspiciously quickly through the ranks, clearly was.

Then, years later, Ji-hoon uncovers new evidence in the case and is going to move to have it re-opened but he still knows nothing about the parties to the original conspiracy. Someone finds out about this and the whole plot shifts into action. His affair (yes I know, very bad, but these things do happen) with Min-ah is used to blackmail him into returning the evidence to the conspirators. The fact that he appears to be holding out to free an innocent man from death row makes him look good in my eyes.

So who spills the beans on the fact that Ji-hoon has new evidence? Well the obvious suspect is Dong-chan. He is in Ji-hoon's study, alone, a full year before the first kidnapping of Saet-byul. He's waiting for Soo-hyun to return to repay the money he thinks she owes the loan shark and has ample time to snoop through the files. Perhaps Dong-chan doesn't know the significance of what he has discovered but he lets it slip to someone who does know it.

It's clear to me that Ji-hoon loves his daughter dearly. The utter devastation on his face when he realizes Saet-byul is gone is heartbreaking. He values his family life as well because he obviously wants Min-ah and his child with her gone from his life asap. It's not the best way of handling it, I agree. It would be great if he'd been the kind of man to admit his mistake to his wife and support his child with Min-ah. But he's engaging in somewhat typical unfaithful male behaviour here. If the wife doesn't find out, it's business as usual in the marriage. I doubt, regardless of the outcome, the marriage will survive but it's sad to see a child who needs both parents become a statistic of divorce no the less.

Love your take on Ji Hoon's motivations. I agree that he is not evil, but is someone with strong convictions who also happens to be a flawed husband. Not only did he have an affair, but he also seems to have decided to head off on a crusade for justice without discussing any of his plans with his wife.

You think she might be interested in knowing that you've uncovered some corruption related to one of your previous cases? No, it"s a much better idea to protect her from the truth, have an affair, and negotiate with blackmailing killers.

If people actually talked to each other in mystery dramas like this, 99.9% of them would have to be abandoned on the drawing board. But instead of a simple conversation between parties, we have 20 episodes of misunderstandings and hidden motivations. I do get why Ji-hoon wants to keep the affair secret but at what point do the costs of this, ie confessing to your wife what a slime ball you have been, outweigh the benefits, ie not getting your daughter kidnapped by homicidal maniacs. But, again, we'd have no plot at all if this happens and so I can't condemn the character for not talking to his wife. Also maybe Ji-hoon realizes he's sitting on an explosive mess with the new evidence and wants to either protect his wife or to avoid a conflict of interest as he is a lawyer dealing with client privilege and his wife is a journalist.

Hi Lindy,
Han Ji Hoon may be a good lawyer, against the death penalty and trying to free an innocent man; he is a very good father to SB too. BUT from has been shown so far, he is an awful person. The fact that he asked Min Ah to kill his own child is proof of that. He thinks it's murder to execute criminals. So what is it when you ask your own child to be killed? If he was a good man, he would have owned up to his mistake and provided for that child. He didn't have to be with Min Ah but he could have took responsibility for the child. Second is how he treats SH. Yeah, SH is hysterical whenever SB is concerned but still, that doesn't give him any right to put her in a mental hospital. I guess we can defend him by saying that he did it for her safety but it was still a nasty act on his part. He could have took more time to listen to her and explain his side of things to her, instead of just calling her crazy each time. I mean, even Woo Jin was ready to give an ear to SH. I feel like principles are valid to HJH mostly only when it suits him.

The debate on whether or not abortion can be equated with the death penalty is pretty complex and one I am not prepared to have on a discussion board about a fictional drama. I agree, Ji-hoon is being a hypocrite. A woman's right to choose doesn't mean a woman's right to be coerced into an abortion. He's engaged in very questionable and thoroughly slimy behaviour here but I can understand why he is doing it in the terms of the story.

All the major characters have engaged in behaviour that I find questionable though. Soo-hyun, in the first 2 episodes, treats Saet-byul in a manner I, as a mother find horrifying. She calls her an idiot, says her daughter embarrasses her and seems to regard the kid as an extension of herself instead of as an individual. Dong-chan is willing to use a child to frighten her mother into repaying a debt and lives a life of questionable morality. Woo-jin destroys evidence which might get what is clearly a very dangerous person off the streets of Seoul and so on with all tof them. There is no adult character that is without serious flaws in God's Gift. Are they all awful people?

I picked on JH because you were talking about him. It didn't mean that I automatically credited all the others' behaviors as good. And while we are on that WJ is despicable too for letting an innocent man take the fall and pretty much destroying his career and life. DC may be the least flawed among all these male characters. (At least to me, and I hope he is not the culprit. That will destroy this story for me.). His morality is flawed but we didn't see him harming anyone. The way he treats his mother is bad; but there is a pretty good reason behind that - SJ's murder, mother's support for DH, not considering DC's side, DC's own guilt, anger, and frustrations, etc. Not right behavior but understandable given his situation..................How SH used to talk to SB is bad but it may have to do with culture. The views on parenting is very different (Is it all good? No but that's how it is). Majority of the Asian parents are strict. Also SH grew up without a mother's love or care. She is a tough individual. Her experiences probably largely influences how she treats SB. SH probably worked her way up to the top purely out of her own hard work and determination. When she sees SB slacking in studies, she will be concerned. That's how I view these characters :)

0

Hi Lin_K

All the characters have their reasons or, less charitably, excuses for behaving the way they do. Soo-hyun, as an Asian Tiger Mom, wants her daughter to succeed and is hard on her to achieve this outcome regardless of the cost to her child. Dong-chan believes his brother killed his first love, believes he is responsible for his nephew's disability and carries a great burden of guilt for both events so he leads a very amoral lifestyle. Ji-hoon has an affair but wants to protect his marriage and so insists his lover abort their child. Woo-jin choses his career over his ethics and lets another man take the fall for his actions. We, as viewers, might not like any of it but it's all understandable in the characters' terms.

I like Dong-chan and hope he achieves redemption but I really don't believe he is the least flawed of all these characters. He is still pretty much a mystery to me and I also think a lot of what we believe we know about him is just assumption on our parts because he is such a compelling, attractive and sympathetic character.

0

The moral aspects of abortion have been debated for decades, but my issue here is that the forced abortion trope is used so often in k-dramas. Legally, it is a pretty shaky scenario. Not to mention the fact that he is supposedly against capital punishment, but wants to abort his own child.

But what I still have not figured out is WHY he is so adamant on Min Ah getting one. The secret has been out for a while, so what exactly is he trying to accomplish?

0

Being anti capital punishment while being pro a woman's right to choose is not a contradictory philosophical or moral stand but people often don't live up to their high philosophical or moral standards in real life, let alone in K-dramas, when push comes to shove. People all too often become hypocrites when their high standards are going to create problems in their personal lives.

Ji-hoon is engaging in some very human behaviour here and it makes him a fully fleshed out character for me. Do I approve of what he is demanding of Min-ah? No, I don't. Do I understand why he is demanding it? Yes, I do.

About why he still wants Min-ah to get the abortion when the secret is out? Beats me. Just how out is the secret anyway? Soo-hyun already knows Min-ah was pregnant in the first timeline and now she knows that Ji-hoon was having an affair with her and Ji-hoon knows she knows about the affair. But does Ji-hoon also know that Soo-hyun knows Min-ah is pregnant? I can't remember. Is Ji-hoon even the father of the baby? Min-ah already has a boyfriend, the floor director. So technically she's cheating on a partner as well and he might be the actual father.

Also it's an assumption that Ji-hoon is dragging Min-ah up the stairs to get an abortion right at that exact moment. We don't know if they are in a hospital or what exactly he's doing. Maybe he's are going to confront his blackmailer or the private detective. This show is so complicated.

0

I can answer my own question. Of course he does. I forgot about the first accident when Min-ah almost loses the baby.

0

Didn't he have her put in the mental hospital so that he xould search her belongings for the rings?

0

Lol at the fact that he's against cap punishment and all human rights lawyer to defend people till they're really proven to be wrong but then asks his mistress to kill their child. I get other people claiming that abortion isn't like killing, but he's supposed to be a human rights lawyer?

That kid might have been a peanut sized thing then and there but it will grow, it will become a human. It is the first step of being a human. So I think as a a person who's so for morality and justice he shouldve realised that child had rights too. What did it do wrong to die? What evidence did he have to punish the little baby? Hypocrisy at its best, that's what it is.

Great parallels between the YG situation and the DH situation! But YG explained himself, while DH hasn't changed his confession for over 10 years (probably to protect his family)! Plus, after what SJ accused DH of, being creepy and following her around, and then seeing him carry SJ's dead body, it's hard for DC not to come to such conclusions! However, I think DC's response to YG was a result of the fact that he's probably thinking, "not this again", he really didn't want to have another family member be a the killer of someone he values, it's almost that response of "like father, like son?"...

And HJH is definitely a gray character! I think you're onto something with HJH using the evidence to somehow make amends for his wrong convictions when he was a prosecutor, especially in regards to DH and the death penalty

With the attempted kidnapping of Han Saet-Byeol and her missing, this episode really drove home the adages:

The kindness of strangers.

Pay it forward.

Eventhough this is a drama, sadly this happens in the real world. Who knows how many times this has happened to missing and exploited children?

The unkindness of strangers.
The audacity to ignore and disregard a child's plea for help.
The selfishness, shallowness, and callousnesss of some people.
Taking advantage of those in emergency situations.
A lack of empathy for and toward those asking for help.

The kid was missing for God sake.. all you have to do is cooperate.

You make a good point about her being a bit more calm now that the kidnapping has happened. Before she was desperately fighting against something happening, it's inevitability hanging over her head and constantly leaving her in a state of panic. Now that what she's feared has happened, she doesn't have to focus on that but can just fight back. It's still awful and I can't imagine going through that twice and we know that pretty soon Saet Byul's possibly impending death will rear it's head at her emotions, but for a little bit, she was calmer and able to focus on her fight.

A prime example of her newfound clear-headedness: I cheered when Soo Hyun revealed how she "manipulated" the President into investigating Middle Man. If Dong Chan wasn't in love with her before, he most certainly would be now.

Very true about Soo Hyun living in a constant state of fear while dreading the inevitable. Besides being able to focus with Saet Byul gone, Soo Hyun no longer comes off as a psycho spewing nonsense about her daughter going to get kidnapped because her claim actually came true.

I wonder about that too, but the thing is we don't know whether Saet-byul was kidnapped directly the first time too or not. There's a lack of evidence from CCTV to confirm whether she is kidnapped directly or not in previous timeline. We just know that she never reached her nanny. She could have been kidnapped directly or ran away and followed through the same scenario as in the current timeline

Required fields are marked *

The timeline is so screwed up at this point but I think Saet-byul was kidnapped right out of the TV station in the first timeline. She's held by someone who seems to be concerned about her well being. He (or she) provides a comfy bed for her, gives her drawing materials to mark up the wall and maybe provides her with other things, like a Snake puzzle, to keep her entertained. She might not even be aware that she has been kidnapped at all. She's meant to be held until Ji-hoon gives over his evidence in the Dong-ho murder conviction, not held for ransom or killed. But she dies, either by accident or by another's hand.

All the police know is that she was held in the shed for a few days and then she drowned but they don't know why exactly she ended up in the water. One of the scenarios is that she managed to escape from her captor or captors and then ended up in the water by accident. I think this was speculation on the part of the police but it seems she wasn't harmed in any other way and had, in fact, been well cared for otherwise. She had been fed and attempts were made to keep her comfortable.

Required fields are marked *

Ah. Thank you Lindy very much for clarifying that for me.

I guess it means the whole death part of the scenario is still unknown as of now. We still don't know if she ran away in both timelines, I wasn't sure if that was something that happened in both.

0

not really , the kidnapper is the same in both times cause having 2 different kidnappers using the same methods and the same shack does not make sense
this is how the second kidnapped is different from the first according to what I understood

in the first one SB never saw wrist guy before, she runs smiling towards her nanny and gets kidnapped

in the second time she was warned by her mother to run from him she saw him and the nanny made a sign by this she postponed her kidnapping and the kidnapper had to use a recorded voice ( but the fact that wrist guy did record that voice cause he thought he is going to need it is far fetched )

and finally SB was taken to the shack but was removed instantly and I cant figure why

0

That is the most common theory, but we don't really know - it was more of an assumption than something with any evidence. And I am still not sure why the police made that assumption - the whole scenario seemed a bit dumb to me from the start.

Like why would a kid run into the lake when there are so many other directions to go for one thing?

That was exactly where i was going with my question. We do not know the circumstances of the first abduction/Saet Byul escape and like you said, I was really confused as to how she died first time around.

If she ran away and fell to her death, it doesn't necessarily mean the kidnapper was intending to actually kill her. It had me scratching my head back then thinking "if she died accidently, all the scary stuff leading up to it lost its punch" and second time around the whole scenerio would be more preventing the accident.

Oh well, I guess I think too much.

0

Well we don't know what happened exactly the first time around but we do know (as Soo-hyun pointed out) that the snake van was also in the parking lot when the first kidnapping happened.

Okay I have this vague theory in my mind about what is actually happening.. What if..
Tattoo hand killed Soo-Hyun during their outing that day. And the other three guys agreed to cover it up. Dong-Chan's brother happens upon the body after the murder and decides to dispose of the body so that his brother will not be sad right when Dong-Chan happens upon him and thinks he killed her.
The case goes to trial. And the four guys who killed her think that Dong-Chan's brother makes a great scapegoat to take the fall for the murder. Ji-Hoon, who is the lawyer / prosecutor? for this case helps them? They're able to get away with this because of their wealth and powerful connections. However, the three guys who covered up the murder feel increasingly guilty and go crazy / kill themselves. Or Tattoohand could have killed / tried to kill them to cover his ass.
This could have been triggered by Ji-Hoon who began blackmailing them? Or maybe blackmailing only Tattoohand who kills the rest to get rid of lose ends. I mean he has the most to lose, because he's the killer, whereas the other three are just accomplices. Either Ji Hoon was on the whole plan, or found out later after the other guy was convicted, and then coerced to keep quiet. But he keeps / finds evidence pointing to the real killers, and blackmails them for whatever reasons.
So this could be why it HAD to be Saet Byul who was kidnapped - It's a warning to Ji Hoon. Something must have happened that triggered this after so many years. Perhaps it has something to do with the death penalty? And Dong-Chan's brother being executed in the original timeline.
Now for the miscellaneous characters. Te-Oh and Grandpa are both out for answers / revenge? Because the people they loved, namely Te-Oh's brother and Grandpa's son, died because of this incident. They might have thought it was suicide but they might be starting to suspect foul play. Perhaps they will end up helping Soo Hyun and Dong Chan.
As for Woo jin I believe it could have something to do with the incident of Dong Chan's suspension. This Tattohand is supposed to have special training. Plus he has insider info that only the police have. What is he is a sunbae of Woo jin and Dong chan who helped Woo jin? Or at least knows what really happened? Is Woo jin being blackmailed to keep his job and not go to jail?
And lastly Tattoohand. Probably the President's son. He has to be someone with a lot of connections and power. And it makes sense that the President's son would hold a high post within the government. Probably the police or military.

*loose ends. Typing on my phone sucks.

What do you all think? Sound halfway reasonable? Of course the writer could blow my explanation to hell with some twist. Like Dong Chan has a alternate personality which is taking revenge by killing everyone responsible or something -.-".

I think this episode has made a pretty good point about how several people can be indirectly involved in one incident (the endless chain of people who encountered Saet Byul that night), so I wouldn't be surprised if the same kind of thing happened with Soo Jung's death.

Another parallel I see is when Young Gyu is blaming himself for Saet Byul's kidnapping, he keeps saying "I did wrong, I did wrong", as if he was the one responsible. This is the exact same thing said by Dong Ho when Soo Jung was killed.

I'm really suspicious of the president at this point. He is definitely behind this in my opinion. Who else has this much power to pull so many strings? And this situation "it will be the president's fault if the child dies", makes him the victim. Then, the population will sympathize with him and say "oh those people who dont want the death penalty are violent hypocrates" and accept the reinstatement of the death penalty. I really think his son could have take the picture/killed Soo Jung/had his friends cover up. Besides, who else thought they saw Saet Byul crouching in his office when they were playing Joker/Batman?? Creepy, man.

i think the president's son works in a research laboratory of sorts. when the president asked him if he couldn't stay on in korea longer, the son replied that staying away from his job for too long would be an inconvenience to his colleagues.

i don't think the president's son is tattoo hand. tattoo hand seems to have been spying on JH's family for awhile, and he has certainly been up to a lot of things. meanwhile, the president's son seems to have entered korea only recently, and he has a wife and two small children.

of course, there's always the possibility that tattoo hand is a hired minion, and the president's son the mastermind...

I just love how the camera lingers on afterwards, zooming out a scene to maximize the creepy factor at the end of every episode. Seeing a guy strangled midair like that through a small window made me shiver.

I also loved the powerful parallelism between Soo-hyun and Ji Hoon's reaction towards Saet Byul's kidnapping. Admittedly, I felt bad for Ji Hoon having to go through helplessness, fear, and shock again since he hasn't gone back in time to remember it the first time around. Unlike Soo-hyun who is fantastically on a roll, throwing aside all recklessness and keeping a strict focus on bringing back her daughter.

Anyways, thanks for the recap. It's helping me keep track of some things because I do get a little confused while watching.

I think the President's son is the murderer..He's married and has been abroad for ten years...especially with his dad(the President) about capital punishment. Maybe the President is trying to cover up his son's murder?

I don't know what I was expecting but I'm kinda bummed out. For some reason I don't want the killer to be someone who was just introduced in the last 4(ish) episodes. I feel like the story just flattened out. The thrill and suspense is still there but the impact doesn't seem to sit well with me. But there are still another 4 (?) eps, still enjoying the ride :)

As a 21 year old grown women who was once 8, I can't help but judge Saet Byul's actions. Like c'mon kid. 911 was the first number I ever memorized. Don't talk to strangers was rubbed into my head a THOUSAND times. If I got scared I'd run towards my parents right away not into a back of van. Also Does this kid even know how to scream?! My face hurts from the many face palms it inflicted.

I sympathized with Saet Byul when she turned away from her dad after seeing him in a fight. She may or may not have understood the whole "affair" thing, but when your parents are at odds with each other, suddenly you don't know who in the world to trust.

But yeah, she can act in ways that are, let's say, convenient to the plot but not entirely realistic? It's kind of hard to write a child realistically without maybe a child psychologist on hand.... So I get what you mean ^_^

I pretty much gave up on Saet Byul a few episodes ago and came to the conclusion that the writer just has her in there as a cute prop device to move events along.

So much of what she does or does not do is just so unrealistic for a 9-year old.

Dying to see what are in the photos from DH's camera! He probably managed to capture the actual murder, so now besides the fact that DC and SH needs to find SB to save her from her fate, they need her for the pictures so change DH's fate and get to the bottom of this huge conspiracy...

Who called DC and why??? At least he's slowly remembering more and more from that night!

And DC's reaction to Jenny's injuries were heartbreaking!

DC the ever-sacrificial guy (kind of found he hot when he closed that door and was ready to fight)! He better not get beaten too badly trying to hold off those 4 thugs in the hospital!

Also, I'm sensing a Jenny and BT love line...

our bad guy sure is connected—he knows all the other murderers! and how many serial killers are running around seoul anyway? if only he'd switch to the good side, he could do a lot in cleaning up the streets...

it doesn't make sense that saet-byul didn't go running to her father. he was RIGHT THERE. major logic flaw in my opinion.

i know people are hating on te-oh's manager for ditching saet-byul, but i can understand why he did what he did. i think it was plain that he didn't feel right about leaving the kid on the road, but his job and priority was to protect te-oh. te-oh was drugged up at the time, and it was too dangerous to risk anyone seeing him and recognizing what kind of state he was in. i totally get it.

the fact that he totally tried to give SB cab money and showed her where she could find a cab shows that he isn't a monster, and probably a relatively decent person who got stuck in a tricky situation. honestly, if i were in his shoes, i don't know that i wouldn't have done the same thing. he should have found

the one really bad thing he did was initially lying about seeing SB. i get why he lied, because he might have had to bring up te-oh's drug use, but he could have easily omitted that part—i think. and when dong-chan was yelling at him, he obviously felt very badly. anyway, just my two cents about him.

i can't believe there are only 2 weeks left! it seems like i only just started this drama... yet in some ways it feels like it's been a long journey. i want the remaining four episodes NOW.

Ok so why did Saet Byul go home? Wasn't the last time she was home, Min Ah was going crazy there? And she knows Dad is at the broadcasting station, so is Nanny, and Mom is at the hospital, so is Grandma. So she'd have to have a really good reason to go home. Also, she came and left, as if she was getting something or dropping it off. Did anyone see if she still had the photos when she encountered Young Gyu? Maybe she left them at home, and our next lead would be to find those.

Since everyone besides our fantastic duo can be a suspect...somehow...i am thinking of the guy that serves the president...he has a shady look and certainly can be the evil guy - I thought of this because DC said the guy taking the photo is older and married...

since things have somewhat changed in the second timeline, I wonder if they will show us what actually happened in the first timeline-
1. Did nanny get threatened by kidnapper in both timelines?

2. How did the jigsaw piece end up as evidence in first timeline if SB originally never knew she had to be careful of Tatoo Hand and so escaped into Te-oH's van?

3. SH didn't track the serial killer in first timeline to uncover the ring/ear ring evidence that the blackmailer is looking for, so why did Tatoo Hand plan the kidnapping?

Come to think of it, maybe President's guy wanted to use the kidnapping to force the President to carry out the death penalty as JH could still be trying to revive DH's case and save DH. The guy could be the serial killer back then!

along the same lines as #2, where did they get satbyeol's voice saying 'mommy' in the first timeline (during the show after she had been kidnapped) if the voice had been taken from when minah was holding satbyeol hostage in the ransacked apartment? didn't that not happen in the first timeline or maybe i'm missing something obvious

This is the first time I felt the characters didn't show much emotional depth...I guess they were tired... This time SaetByul got lost for real and Soo Hyun looked so calm, surprisingly... I couldn't wrap my head around this.
ALSO there was a strong sexual tension between Soo Hyun and Dong Chan and don't know why but I felt like they were conscious of each other's presence. They didn't even make eye contacts well and looked like Jo Seung Woo would break into a laugh any time... I guess it is just me. Lee Bo Young is a newly married lady...

THIS is the best drama of the year and one of the best I've seen so far.

I've been saying that the person who took the photo is behind this all and my bet would be on the President's son. The Presidents asks his son to come back because now he has power to shut them down. Also I feel there are TWO parties after Saet Byul/ Ji Hoon/ Soo Hyun. One who wants real revenge and the other ( President) who wants to silence them all (esp. Ji Hoon who knows more than he should).

I dont agree with you , SH emotions is spot on all this time SH was an emotional burden to her , all of her panic was due to the fact that SB who is dead in her head is alive again and she has to keep her that way when we take SB which is something she knew was going to happen , her mentality is back to normal we are back at the start now she is in the final stages of her grieving

about the sexual tension , this is no time for it when SH is so fixed on her goal before she was more open to it anyway we will see it is a pity to waste all the chemistry

really appreciate Soo Hyun's calmness in this eps even after she knows Saet Byul is missing.. maybe because she knows Saet Byul is out there somewhere and not in the kidnapper's hand.. and this time around she has Dong Chan by her side, which i would say one of the main reason why she still able to stay strong until now.. he is really her biggest supporter... just hope she can be his supporter too when he finds out his brother is innocent all these years... all those guilt pretty much can kill him..

Some things I was curious about in this episode:

1) In the first timeline, after she was kidnapped, Saet-byul's voice over the phone is the same as the one in the current timeline. But in the first timeline, she wasn't attacked by Min-ah, nor did she face any situation which allowed the kidnapper to use the exact same recording as the current timeline. I wonder what's going on? Maybe the show deliberately omitted some scenes or is it possible that Saet-byul was really speaking into the phone in the first timeline?

2) What made Saet-byul go into Te-oh's van in the first timeline? Judging by how the puzzle piece was found in Saet-byul's possession when she died, it meant that she was indeed on the van. In the current timeline, Saet-byul was hiding from the scary man so she went into Snake's van, but in the first timeline she was happily running towards the nanny and didn't seem scared. I wonder if there was a reason for her to be in the van.

3) Was Young-gyu in any way involved when Saet-byul was being kidnapped in the first timeline? I cannot remember if he appeared, gotta go rewatch it again.

4) On another note, what is grandpa's deal? So fishy.... with his Dongchan-stalking and the keychain and all.

I think it's Saet-byul's real time, not taped, voice in the first kidnapping because she is taken in the parking lot by someone she appears to be glad to see. I think she doesn't get into Snake's van at all in the first timeline. It seems that Soo-hyun is able to change some events but certain things, like the fact she is wearing the same clothes and a Snake puzzle piece plays a part in both kidnappings, remain the same. It's just the reasons are now different. Ji-hoon puts the clothes that Soo-hyun thinks she's thrown away on Saet-byul and Saet-byul gets the puzzle piece from Snake's van this time. How she gets it in the first kidnapping is still a mystery.

Young-gyu's involvement in the first kidnapping is also something we just don't know yet but it's a reasonable assumption that he was involved somehow.

This is the only drama that makes me work my brain out like I'm doing math. I was guessing since second episode and still can't figure out.

I was all excited when they found Cha Bong Seob like 'Oh yeah dude you're gonna end this way.' And voila, he wasn't the kidnapper.

Then we have this stationary shop guy. He even kidnapped Saet Byul's friend. So, I was like 'Okay this is the guy.' But, you know drama, he wasn't.

So we went on to the wrist guy wearing all black. I wanna go tell him 'Hello, it's 2014. Bad guy doesn't always wear black. Do you know the phrase 'blending in'?' And he just got killed.

We finally ended up with the guy taking the picture and he's a total psycho. I mean come one he's your dude and you just lifted him up like that and killed him? Dude you seriously are sick.

And we still have 4 more episodes left, Saet Byul's kidnapped and I wish I could break into the writer's house, took her notebook with me, and found out what will happen to Saet Byul. Geez, you even have the nerve to kill such a lovely girl.

Anyway, I'm waiting for that moment when Soo Hyun and Dongc Chan finally, for God's sake, date each other.

This was a strong week in terms of character development for our mother and daughter and I am happy to see them two making progress, curiously, when they are in the worst moment of their lives. I am so glad that we’re done with the hysterical SH – at least for now. It’s as if the writer read our comments lol. Ok, now on to the bullet points. I barely read anything you guys commented, so apologies if I repeat some ideas.

1) Oh God, we were meant to suspect everyone because everybody was guilty in one way or another. Even the nervous looking nanny was threatened, but I wonder what made her warn SB this time. Maybe she warned SB the other time as well, but she was so happy-go-lucky that she didn’t catch it. My guess is that SB is happy on the CCTV the first time and frightened now because in the other reality, she had no awareness of the danger, while now she knew she had to avoid Wrist. Since Snake’s car was on the CCTV on both instances, SB might have been happy because that’s what she saw first the other time, unaware that someone is willing to harm her. This would also explain the puzzle piece.

2) I totally agree with you, Dramallama (thank you for the recap, by the way!). It was GENIUS to have Ji-Hoon go through the exact same emotions and anguish just like SH the other time. It’s as if she is getting a payback of sorts, since he put the blame on her for meeting with WJ instead of looking for her daughter, but this time, it was him who got distracted to the point that he doesn’t even bother checking where SB went.

3) I wonder what’s the reasoning behind having a lower pitched voice making the phone call, while the first time, it was a higher pitched one.

4) We finally know what the caller is complaining about. So he finds the war with violent crime ridiculous, yet he assumed the identity of a (now dead) man who killed 6 people. Hmmmm.

5) I felt uneasy with the Joker and the Batman game, especially since the President had the Joker mask on, instead of choosing to be the city protector (Batman). The Joker stood for anarchy, finding amusement in killing people and creating mayhem – at least, in Christopher Nolan’s version (“Some men just want to watch the world burn”). It could be that this profile is pretty close to the Wrist’s profile. Also, this time around we don’t hear the president’s son saying anything, which makes me even more suspicious of him.

Required fields are marked *

6) OMG I was partially right with the phone call – I KNEW IT!!!!!!! I knew that there was a reason why there is no exchange between the mother and the daughter and I always thought that SB has a desperate voice way too soon after the supposed kidnapping, to the point that I believed it wasn’t even her voice. Well, it was prerecorded and it baffles me why they don’t go looking for Min-Ah, since not only was she the last person SB was seen with the first time, but also the one person who was present when SB starts crying for mommy. And I swear that when this happens the other episode, I actually thought her crying sounded the same like it did during the broadcast, but instead of thinking that someone recorded it, I was rather assured that it was her voice.

7) It’s so exciting that DC starts recalling events from that night. Now we know that during the fight with those guys, his phone rings.

8) Whoa, the way SH threats JH gave me chills. I actually feel sorry for him in some way, because even though he was a jerk and did stupid things, the situation pains him just as much as it pains SH. He clearly wants to do and believes he is doing the right thing, but his methods are so awful and low. Also, some of you said that he wanted to gain something out of his relationship with Min-Ah and it could be, since when SH confronts him with the evidence, he says that things aren’t like that and what’s more, he didn’t even see anything bad in inviting her over to his house. So I wonder if he did hook up with her with a plan in mind, but everything just ended up being a mess.

9) There is no mattress at the warehouse where SB is taken, while the other time around, it even seemed that the kidnapper thought about making it more comfortable for her. I was also right that SB goes from one location to other, but I didn’t think there were SO MANY.

10) BT and Jenny – awwwwwwwwwwww, they are so awesome. I ship them.

11) The president of course recognized the photo and the Minister looked creepy as always.

12) Holy crap, Strawberry (HAHAHAHA, thank you, DC) likes to listen to his music LOUD. I wonder how come he didn’t bust his ears with those headphones.

13) So sad that Strawberry is addicted to pills – I wonder if his hyung turned him over to the cops, since he was one of the few who knew and he was threatened by DC to be handed over to the police and we don’t know what happened afterwards.

14) Heidi is there for a minute, but it was hilarious! “I’ve been violated” HAHAHAHAHHAHA. I wonder though what did he want from Strawberry.

0

Required fields are marked *

15) There are so many bastards – I can’t. Hyung, taxi driver…what’s sadder though is that it is more likely to stumble across this sort of people in real life as well. Curiously enough, the most decent human being and the only one who actually says the truth, even though he is drunk out of his mind, is the camera ajusshi. Don’t judge a book by its cover, I guess.

16) Ohhh so the film left in the camera is VERY OLD. BINGO! Wanna bet that there are evidences surrounding SJ’s death?

17) If SB was home for a while, they should check the cameras which remained in her room (the one hidden in the toy house), but they must have completely forgotten about it.

18) YG, you’re my hero! It’s obvious that on both instances, he met with Wrist, but the first time, he had slippers and probably fell down before even reaching the guy. This time though, he managed to inflict harm on him, biting him and leaving him with a limp. However, I don’t recall this guy to have had a limp before the bite, while the other Tattoo Hand who fights DC on the rooftop WAS LIMPING, as DC recalls. Jesus Christmas, how many Wrist/Tattoo Hand are there?

19) SO touching when YG says he is sorry and SH hugs him!!

20) They finally realize that someone from the police is involved, so they will be less trustful in the future. I wonder just how far WJ is willing to go to protect and help SH, since in this episode, during some instances I felt that he clearly didn’t know what was going on, so I am not sure if he knew this was coming. While I am trying not to forget that I am supposed to hate him for what he did to DC (LOL), I hope that at least he’ll have the decency to not give a damn about his reputation.

21) Creepy guy number 3424242 – the psychiatrist. When DC and SH leave the office, he has an evil look upon his face. What’s more, when SH asks Yoo Jin who took the picture, he takes the pen and mimics an injection – I took it as a hint that whoever is behind it, is a doctor of sorts, performing injections – maybe at a hospital, maybe at a psychiatry. The president’s son could fit with the description, since we know he is working in a laboratory and maybe he runs blood tests (syringe use).

22) So Wrist has a wedding ring – I bet it’s the same one that JH still has in his possession

23) IT WAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER (Kaybee for the win!) !!! Told ya as well that it’s always the photographer, it’s always the guy who is in plain sight, but nobody takes him into account. This is what the third season of BBC’s Sherlock taught me LOL.

24) Gah, I loved SH and SB SO MUCH this week. It’s redundant to say that I love DC to death, but these two really stepped up their game. This is the SH I used to love – the calculated one, remembering every detail, thinking clearly and trying to find a logic in all this – in this episode, she constantly outsmarts DC, which is as bad-ass as you can get. As for SB, she finally listens to her mother’s advice and becomes aware of her surroundings and the people who have the potential of harming her.

25) As for the picture and why they are either dead or crazy (Yoo Jin was still normal when Strawberry’s brother dies 5 years ago), hmmm. First off, the mayor says he lost touch with his son YJ for the past 10 years, but we know that at least during 5 years, he wasn’t showing any signs of madness. We also know that the president’s son had been living abroad for the past 10 years, which is a strange coincidence, although everything revolves around 10 here. I would say that on the night SJ was murdered, the gang was drunk out of their minds and they might have gang-raped her (we know from the locals that all men were swooning over her), eventually killing her. Wrist might have had the idea and since nobody was sober, they didn’t remember what they did. Somehow, Strawberry’s brother finds out that DH is in fact innocent and when he threatens Wrist to turn himself and all the others in, he gets killed. As for Yoo Jin’s madness, he either found out after the funeral the reason why Strawberry’s brother died and went gaga ridden by guilt or Wrist (Syringe guy?) started to drug him so that he slowly loses his mind and with that, all the credibility (hey, it’s dramaland). Also, I am afraid now that they might actually blame SH for Yoo Jin’s death, since she was in his cell when it happened. I have no idea who the other guy was – either a minion in disguise or simply just a very dangerous patient.

Oh my gosh, this drama!

I loooooooooved the subtle inditement of adult carelessness toward children...all those scenes of adults not quite realizing it takes a village to raise (or at least protect) a child who is out in the middle of the night.

The actress who plays Saet Byul totally rocks this role. The last two episodes depended on her being gutsy, ingenious, angry, fearful for herself, smart, insightful, brave, fearful for her mom, and cute! And she totally upheld her part in the production. Hope she gets a lotta praises and way more scripts.

Love No Min Woo...he has no qualms in playing a somewhat out-of-it skeevy selfish but nevertheless grieving rock star. Am not saying he's a great actor... just saying he is so brave at trying to play unpleasant characters. There's a great seedy creepy role awaiting him, one that would be perfect for him. There were a few moments when I thought, "please get that blank look off your face..that looks not conveying anything whatsoever." And yet.. i just looooooove him.

Actor who plays Ji Hoon..wow! Soooooooo good. Nerves of steel, much? Even when he's worried, there is this in-control vibe. Even when he loses his temper, he has this eerie calm. I can imagine how being married to a guy this in control and tamped-down can affect a person. Great acting.

Everybody else: great acting from everyone in the cast.

Thanks for the recap.

I do not know if i'm right but i actually believe that Jihoon put Soohyun in the mental hospital for her safety. There was an episode that he warned the blackmailer not to hurt Soohyun and he looked genuinely worried when he could not find her. Jihoon knew that Soohyun cannot be stopped, she will do whatever she wanted and that would put her up against the blackmailer, so Jihoon had no choice but to put her in the mental hospital to keep her safe from the blackmailer, as Jihoon believed that as long as Soohyun does not get involved and let him handle everything, everything will be solved.

This drama...makes my head spin. The endless carousel of potential killers, asswipes (ha) and conspiracy drivers...the past few episodes have further churned the unpredictability of the real culprit and motive behind SB's kidnapping/death.

With DC's realization as to the fifth friend...the very first person that came to mind was the President's son. His 10-year absence from "living overseas" seems way too convenient. In the little glimpses that I've seen of him, there's something I can't quite place my finger on about him. Granted, the writer is doing quite a bang-up job of making everyoneee suspicious...but that's the vibe I got off of him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the picture instead of Tattoo Man.

The President isn't exempt from my suspicions as well...his sudden appearance at the precinct seems so very scripted and spun in a way to make him seem so "driven" to catch the "monster behind this horrible crime." Had to have a crime against child(ren) to make the public react strongly for the death penalty, eh? Each passing episode further confirms the fishy smell I get from the government and the bigger conspiracy at play. These episodes have further unfurled all the far-reaching connections between all the crimes, current and ten years ago.

Gah, TO's manager and the taxi driver...WTH, man! How could they just leave a little girl in the street, at freakin' night, and lie about it?? :/ People, I tell you...ugh.

But hooray for SH finally getting her act together, although the involuntary commitment into the mental hospital (JH, you bastard!) probably was a wake-up call. The last scene gave me the creeps...and I do hope SH can get out of there before they blame her for YJ's death.

The stark mirroring of reaction from both SH and JH was very interesting, and I'm glad that he got to get that perception (for all the crap he pulled). Now I bet he feels dumb for thinking SH's warnings as crazy talk--enough to forcibly commit her--but considering he's still dealing with the blackmailer...you still got a 0 in my book.

Can't wait 'til Monday!

wasn't sure if this was a question but just wanted to comment on it regardless

I have a hunch that all this has some political influence. The culprit might be that attorney general guy next to the president. Perhaps, he kidnapped Saet Byul to facilitate the death sentence--to kill Dong chan's brother.

So ummm....that picture of the "Moojin Princelings"...How did it end up back in Soohyun's hands ( she gave it to the president) when we saw earlier that Te Oh snatched it back from them when they went to confront him at his house?

This show makes me analyze every, single, damned, detail.

LOL...I noticed that too. She gave it back to Tae Oh/ Tae Oh took it back. Then in the next scene she was checking it on the PC with Dong Chan...I assumed that she got it scanned. Next she had the photo again and gave it to the President...so she might have got copies of it.

Ah, that's a possibility. Or the writer probably glossed over this minor detail to keep the plot going.

Oh my, I am late to the party. I haven't been so crazy to marathon a show for a long while.

I found myself mapping the possibilities of who could be the mastermind and the motives of respective parties.

This show has dished up many red herrings but now that we are near the end, the possibilities have narrowed. Unless the writer introduces a totally new character as the evil doer which I don't expect her to, the mastermind is a character which we have likely seen.

For a start, I think the murderer and the tattoo man may be 2 different persons. I get this feeling that the tattoo man is more of a henchman than the murderer himself. Judging by how the murderer was able to blackmail Woo Jin, spied and threatened Ji Hoon and set up many false leads definitely shows that he either does not work alone or has the power and money to drive his objective.

I think the key is the "evidence" that Ji Hoon possessed. Saet Byul was kidnapped to get to Ji Hoon who I think was trying to re-open the Soo Jung's case. I think Ji Hoon found out somehow that Dong Ho was not the real murderer and was working on re-opening the case. He must have gotten too close to the truth. He also said that he wanted to achieve his dream world on his own terms. It sounds anti-establishment to me.

Grandpa or Chairman Choo - this old man obviously has a part to play in scheme of thing.
We now know his son was one of the 3 young men in the photo and committed suicide right after the Soo Jung's murder.
I think he is using Tae Ho and Dong Chan for his own motive. But this does not necessarily mean he is bad. He might just be trying to find the culprit who caused the death of his son and Tae Ho's brother.
I am suspecting he might have told or hinted at the identity of the real murderer who caused Tae Ho's brother's death. However he tells Tae Ho not to meddle so as not to jeopardize his own investigation.
What I do not understand is his interest in the President's implementing the death penalty. Is he for it or against it? And it seems like he used to be a good friend of the President but they fell out. What happened?

I think all the 4 men were directly or indirectly involved in Soo Jung's death including the one who took the group photo. Dong Ho was also at the scene, unfortunately, he was led to believe he killed Soo Jung and made the scapegoat.

My guess is that the president's son is the killer. His timing seems to fit. Like how he conveniently went abroad 10 years ago and has not visited for a while. Perhaps he got wind from someone that Ji Hoon is re-investigating the case and came back to settle matters. Isn't it also coincidental that he will be staying in Korea for only 2 weeks - 14 days? The President also seems to recognize the people in the photo. I somehow do not think he suspects of his son's involvement until now. When Soo Hyun pointed out that Choo's son was the kidnapper, the President probably recognized the boys his son had...

SS, you are not late, it is 8.15 and I am just now watching.
Totally engrossing. Even better than the BBC Broadchurch as far as red herrings and WHAT?!!!!! moments, especially in this episode. I was more interactive with the flatscreen this time than any other episode so far. Yes, I hollered at the TV when slime husband handed Saet Byul off. It is hard not to read ahead, but the ride with this crime mystery, magical realism, is too much of a pleasure to ruin. Loving the OH NO!! moments and watching the relationship between Soo Hyun Beauty and y'alls Mr. Wonderful Dong Chan develop.

These recaps are great. Guys watch K dramas too you know? Yeah, for all the fan girl oohs and ahhs there are just as many from this guy, and I am sure for all men, for the women of the K dramas and historical dramas.

Fantastic recaps dramallama, you are keeping up the tradition the dramabean tradition of being the best recaps and comment sections. Back to eating popcorn and saying No No NO don't go with him....no!
