Lee Min-ki and Yeo Jin-gu partner up in Shoot My Heart

This should make for quite the match-up: Lee Min-ki (Monster, Very Ordinary Couple) and Yeo Jin-gu (Hwa-yi, Potato Star 2013QR3) are teaming up in a new movie titled Shoot My Heart.

Based on an award-winning novel of the same name, Shoot My Heart centers around two young men who both end up in a psychiatric hospital and together plot to break free. One young man harbors a particular fear of scissors and deals with feelings of guilt over his mother’s suicide, while the other is a young chaebol who is forcibly committed to the hospital by his relatives in the wake of an inheritance battle. Lee Min-ki will play the young chaebol, and Yeo Jin-gu will be the grieving son.

Apparently in the story the two are the same age (25), which doesn’t sound too far-fetched when you consider each actor separately (given that Yeo Jin-gu recently played 24 for Potato Star)… though if you consider that Lee Min-ki is actually twelve years older, it becomes a bit odd. But here’s a case where the age is incidental; who cares when you’ve got these two working together in a meaty-sounding project? I can’t wait to see them acting together.

Both actors are busy with other projects at the moment, sandwiching this movie in between their other commitments, but I suppose the biz waits for no one. Yeo Jin-gu will begin filming the sci-fi blockbuster Fist Fighting immediately after wrapping Shoot My Heart, while Lee Min-ki precedes this project with the noir thriller For the Emperor. Shoot My Heart will begin filming in May.

I doubt he has time for dramaland any time soon 'cause he's due to enlist by the end of the year. I think he's booking all these movie gigs to tide over his enlistment just like what Hyun Bin did.

Never imagine the Lee Min Ki from Dalja's Spring turn up to be the next big thing in movie industry. Love him.

But, I'm worried when he keep playing disturbed role nowadays, kind of typecast. He is great in comedy too...

Wish to see him back to Kdramaland

Me too! I am totally in love with Lee MinKki - dark, rom com, or otherwise dramas!

I was gonna say this! Lee Min Ki is always cast for unconventional characters. Even when he did the cameo in Shut Up! Flower Boy Band, his character was far from the norm. He's kind of like Johnny Depp who hasn't played a mainstream/typical character since God knows when. Lol.

But its not a bad thing. Actors like him really get to show off their talents with these unconventional castings. Would love to see him in a drama again soon too but he seems to be enjoying establishing himself as a movie star and not just a drama actor.

I wouldn't say he's been that typecast. It seems he's just been exploring all different kinds of projects that interest him.
He was in Temperature of Love last year, a fairly standard rom-com (still quite enjoyable, I might add).

I think the actors' age gap won't be an issue in this film because Lee Min-ki still has a baby face. Premise looks interesting - I'll take what I can get before he enlists!

He's in the latest subbed episode in KBS World. Jang Hyunsung came to a cast reading for a project that stars Yeo Jingoo. He brought his kids along and they were big fanboys of Jingoo hyung. He arranged them to meet him and all. :)

I know Yeo Jin-gu has a voice that makes him pass for older (and now the height too), but it is a little bit funny that they're now starting to repeatedly pair him with much-older actors, playing the same age as said actors.

(first Ha Yeon-soo, now my love Lee Min-ki? Gimme!)

i think the age difference will show most when seeing their head-height ratios. yeo jingu's height is the only thing that lets him still look like a kid haha.

Sounds fun..and i'm sure when Yeo Jin-gu will be 25 they will cast him to play a highschool kid then more than sure

Like they did with Lee Min-ki. When he was barely over 18 they had him play mid to late twenties, and now he is almost 30 he plays high school students. Can't they just adjust the roles to the actors actual ages? Do they have to be the same age for the plot to work? Do they trade places? Anyway, I'll be tuning in, that's for sure.

Yeo Jingoo's voice makes him sound so much older, but I don't see 25 when I see him. College student, he can probably pull off, but 25 is just iffy.

Am I the only one who thinks they look the same? I first thought LMK was on the right and YJG was on the left. Looking closer showed me how wrong I was...wow they look alike. YJG does look younger on closer inspection though...

OMG SAME!

I actually thought at first that both photos were YJG. And I was wondering why they didn't put any photos of LMK. I stared at those photos for around 30s before I realised that one of it is LMK..

He's not :) Even though they're both playing 25 year olds, Yeo Jin-gu is only 16(17 Korean age) in real life and Lee Min-ki is 12 years older than him, or 29 (30 Korean age)

While so many (old actors) try to pass themselves off as high school students, why does Yeo Jin-Gu wanna look like an adult?
Kang Ha-Neul acted as a high school counterpart of the protagonist in a new drama (Angel Eyes). I was wishing that Jin-Gu did that part. He would have fit like a glove and captured noona's heart, once again (*^▽^*)
Jin-Gu please take your time growing up. Noona would like to watch over you for a looooong time. ლ(๏‿๏ ◝ლ)

Just finished watching "Very Ordinary Couple" with Lee Min-Ki so I'm looking forward to seeing him in his yet to be released "Shoot My Heart"!! Both Lee Min-Ki and Yeo Jin-Gu are fantastic actors, even if they play the same age in "SMH" -- Jin-Gu is 17, Min-Ki will be 30 when the movie opens so I guess they will meet their ages in the middle somewhere ... around 23+ which is fairly close to 25 !! ;) We'll all miss Lee Min-Ki when he's gone for his mandatory military service. Hope these two years pass fast for him and us...
