javabeans: New SBS drama alert! It’s a Wednesday-Thursday drama to air later in September after It’s Okay, It’s Love, but I… don’t know what that title means.
girlfriday: Songpoyoo? You in Songpo?
javabeans: Or you mean poyoo as in suckling a baby?
girlfriday: Mr. Yoo in Songpo? Songpo Suckling?
javabeans: Ohhh. Waiiiiiit. Is it by any chance… Song For You?
girlfriday: It shouldn’t be!
javabeans: Sadly, Kongrish wins out: It’s about a woman from the sticks who becomes a famous songwriter. I’m so embarrassed for her right now.
girlfriday: So it’s basically gender-reversed Trot Lovers?
javabeans: Where the heroine is her own hero? I could dig that.
girlfriday: Despite the title being embarrassing, the drama comes from the PD-writer team behind Doctor Champ and Scent of a Woman, so that’s a plus.
javabeans: Ooh, so it’ll be really pretty then, with that beautiful camera back in play. Now, the story….
girlfriday: …might go in circles for weeks on end repeating the same two concepts…
javabeans: …two very visually appealing concepts.
girlfriday: And many of them will be shirtless.
javabeans: Sometimes grappling with each other, glistening with sweat?
girlfriday: Or brooding in the shower?
javabeans: I think I could do 16 meandering hours of Song Poh Yoo if they were mostly shirtless hours.

I am suffering from JGW withdrawals, so seeing here his adorable Ji Heon from Dr. Champ is not helping!! I don't know if I am ready for another story going around in circles - in Dr. Champ, it took the female lead forever to warm up to my guy, but the lack of romance was compensated by the bromance and the shirtless action. Visual...shirtless...concepts hahahahaha that might do the trick.

HAHAHAHA I laughed out loud when I realised the title was just konglish. Wasn't there a policy or something in recent years asking drama producers to avoid using too many english words in drama titles?

I'm kinda hoping the use of konglish was deliberate.
Maybe it's a comedy about a lady who wrote a hit konglish song "Songpoyoo". She then gets famous and is offered a regular job as a songwriter for an idol group.
Only it turns out she only knows just one konglish phrase. Songpoyoo.

I really love this team. The camera, of course, is just beyond gorgeous. I still think of scenes from these two drama because of it. But aside from the camera, I love both Dr. Champ and Scent of a Woman as dramas. Two of my favorites, definitely underrated as character pieces. I enjoy these slice-of-life kind of dramas, so I am on board for this new show!

I agree (I only watched Scent of a Woman, though). I loved it. It was a nice balance of everything. All the characters got a time to shine, too.

I had forgotten how good SOAW was but now that I'm rewatching it again, I'm loving so much more. It's unusual for me because I rarely rewatch dramas in their entirety

I could go on and on about how much I love it. Kim Sun Ah and Lee Dong Wook remains one of my favorite pairings to this day, the soundtrack is just contemplative and atmospheric, the main triangle is aces, the emotions that run through this whole show are beyond my mind. It's actually the one show I love reading the recaps for.

THIS IS CRAZY TIMING, I'm literally in the middle of a Scent of a Woman rewatch right now (started it cos I was really missing Lee Dong-wook in dramas after watching him charm me in his 1 minute of Roommate every day but I didn't want to start Hotel King just yet cos it's a time commitment but anyway I digress). It's crazy how gorgeous the image is even when I don't have DF premium (the image is so shit when you don't have premium istg) *_* That episode 5 LDW shower scene THOUGH
But anyway, definitely watching!
