Bae Soo-bin accepts Greatest Marriage role

After playing a string of villains and seriously corrupt individuals, Bae Soo-bin is returning to the small screen and taking on a good guy in TV Chosun’s fall show, Greatest Marriage. His character is a talented and driven anchorman who commands respect, and he is described as a level-headed and rational man. Finally — a nice departure from his previous role in Secret as a corrupt prosecutor (for which Bae won a Supporting Actor award at KBS’s station awards last year).
It’s unclear yet whether Bae’s character will be a leading or supporting one, but probably the latter, as Greatest Marriage will revolve around a woman who chooses life as a single mom, while exploring the relationships of four other couples on the side. The central character has been offered to Park Shi-yeon, who is still considering, but if she takes it, that’s a whole lot of pretty for this fall miniseries! With seven spots still remaining, I’m eagerly awaiting news on the rest of the cast.
Greatest Marriage airs on TV Chosun in September.

@pogo, this is off-topic but if you are the person who mentioned a street cat named Bob in one of the OT discussions, then thanks so much for introducing this awesome creature to me (love the Youtube videos featuring Bob and James).
If Park Shi-yeon does accept (and I for one hope she does), then she'll have something in common with BSB, besides both having played villains in recent dramas (as mentioned below by Chandler) - she had a baby quite recently and BSB is a proud new father :)

@cynkdf - oooh yes, I did talk about the book in an OT, it's good to see another Bob fan!
I didn't know Bae Soo-bin was married, let alone that he was a dad. I'm quite ready to see him back to playing the nice guy again, though of course in Secret even the actual hero was not so nice, ha.

awcoconuts, thank you so much for your article. According to Hancinema's report (translation of a TV Report article), BSB is the lead actor (yay!). Looks like it could be a melo but we BSB fans are hoping that it is not :)

HE really really does. I'm just so happy that he is not being evil right now though. I'll take him in a nice guy second lead role finally over that, but hoping that it is indeed the lead role.
If it's not in this, please give him the lead in a sanguk (what can I say guy looks good in warrior styled hanbuks and stuff.. just look at Dong Yi).

Manin and Kiara, I so agree with you BSB deserves a leading role. Are either of you good at Chinese? Mine is poor despite my being Chinese.
I just found out that "Proof of Memories", a CCTV production, is now on Youtube (Chinese subs). BSB acted in this over ten years ago. If one googles 记忆的证明 in Youtube, there are 29 episodes of manly BSB to enjoy :) Some charismatic actors in there ...

cynkdf: sounds interesting, unfortunatly I don't trust my chinese to be of any help in watching a drama without english subs as help.
I've been living in China for 10 months now and I can tell you that my chinese is very poor. I don't really have time for lessons (because of my work hours) so I'm pretty much left to slowly picking it up on my own.

Yes, I'm waiting for BSB to be given lead role. This man is talented. Whether as good guy, perfect second lead, or crazy villain like in 49Days and Secret.

YES! I'm excited! BSB has really grown as an actor in the past few years. He's so very talented and I thought he was such a scene and show stealer in secret. It's great that he's playing a character I can finally root for. I just hope he's not the second lead again.
PSY isn't my fav, but she's decent enough and I think they'd look great together. Hopefully it does well so she can get her career back on track.
