High School King of Savvy: Episode 7

The pheromone levels are high as we see lots of feelings in this episode – some of them real, fake, and some in between. Despite the despicable nature of certain characters, we’re given reasons to care for and sympathize with them. We’re reminded that everyone has their own struggles, makes mistakes, and feels pain. That being said, we’ve got some great goodies in this episode that demand appreciation and some hearty laughs. This show isn’t one to miss out on chuckles.

EPISODE 7 RECAP

For his last question, Min-seok pulls Soo-young into a hug and counts down from ten seconds: 10, 9, 8… After the countdown, he opens his eyes and lets her go, saying that he’s figured it out with a smile. He casually says that he’ll see her tomorrow at work and runs off while Soo-young looks as confused as ever.

Back home, Yoo-ah looks at a picture of Min-seok and calls him bad for yelling at her. She only wanted to buy him food, but she understand his reaction – he’s having a hard time juggling school, hockey and work. She resolves that she’ll protect him.

Soo-young comes back home with a perplexed look on her face. Yoo-ah asks if she’s been fired again, but Soo-young pulls her into a hug, counting down from ten seconds just like Min-seok. She can’t figure out how this could have resolved anything for him, and Yoo-ah asks if she’s been drinking again. She has another guess about the question he was trying to get answered: “Omo, is it my bust size?!” Ha.

While Yoo-ah sleeps, Soo-young does her stretches and thinks some more. She has a realization and thinks maybe… but we don’t know what that is.

Meanwhile, Min-seok takes out his angst on a punching bag, kicking and punching until he collapses in exhaustion.

In class the next morning, the teacher spots “Min-seok” sleeping and calls him out. His friends rush to make up a story about how Min-seok injured himself at practice and has fallen into a deep sleep. The teacher approaches them, but they block the dummy and promise to bring Min-seok to the nurse later. They’re off the hook for now, but that was a close call.

Soo-young and Min-seok run into each other in front of the company building, and she confronts him with her realization. She explains in a roundabout manner, saying that she doesn’t feel any distaste towards it and understands that he’s been exposed to certain environments abroad. He has no idea what she’s saying, so she elaborates. She should have realized this when Min-seok showed interest in Jin-woo; he probably thought of her as his rival. Haha, close but not quite.

They enter the building, and Min-seok quietly clarifies her assumption. Yup, she thinks he’s gay. He’s flabbergasted, so Soo-young makes another guess. Does he like her? (Bingo!) Min-seok doesn’t answer right away, so she assumes she’s right and says that she can’t work as his secretary if that’s the case. He quickly rejects her claim, explaining that he wanted to figure out a way to make up for snapping at her earlier and that hugging is a normal greeting back in Germany.

To prove his point, he walks over to a retail team colleague and greets her with a hug. When they get to the office, he gives everyone a “good morning hug” as well – even the delivery man. Team Leader Kim scoffs at him but looks embarrassed when Min-seok leaves him hanging with no hug.

The ladies compliment Min-seok’s manners and compare him to Assistant Park. Sang-hee jumps in to defend him, but Assistant Park looks a bit horrified by her defense. Soo-young sits down at her desk with this new understanding. Since she’s never been to Germany, she didn’t know hugs were so commonplace.

While playing computer games, Min-seok gets a call from his friends, who tell him about their encounter with the teacher. They pride themselves in their quick-witted response and remind him to get off early for their hockey game.

Team Leader Kim walks into his office and tells Min-seok to hurry up for the meeting. Min-seok notifies him that he’ll be leaving early for his game, and Team Leader Kim responds with complaints. But as soon as he opens the door, Min-seok plays his role and gets him back by scolding him for being late. Team Leader Kim looks like he’s going to cry and complains that Min-seok is so frustrating.

At the meeting, Team Leader Kim explains their weekend workshop trip with the project team. Assistant Park complains about another stolen weekend while Min-seok stays quiet with his eyes on Soo-young. He notices that she’s pulling down her sleeves because of the fan blowing right behind her, so he interrupts the conversation by suggesting that they turn off the fan. He explains that he has bronchial problems, so the team decides to turn it off. Team Leader Kim seems irritated by the interruption but continues to explain their workshop trip, reminding them not to be late.

Jin-woo visits his mother at the rehab center, and she looks delighted to see him. She’s crocheting a blanket and explains that she wants to finish it for Jin-woo’s upcoming birthday. She worries that Jin-woo’s face looks slimmer, but he assures her that he’s doing fine. Their reunion is short, as she’s pulled aside by a nurse for her regular counseling session. She wants to stay longer with Jin-woo, so he says that he’ll wait for her.

He watches her leave reluctantly and thinks back to his childhood. In a flashback, we see why Jin-woo’s mother ended up in rehab. Jin-woo’s father angrily breaks objects in the house and throws his mother to the side. Young Jin-woo watches this scene and wets his pants, clearly frightened.

The nurse explains to Jin-woo that his mother’s condition today is better than usual. On most other days, she wakes up at night asking for alcohol and would throw up all the food she ate.

Back at work, Jin-woo meets his father in the elevator. He invites him to dinner that Sunday, but his father angrily rejects him. Jin-woo mentions his mother’s worsening condition, but President Yoo cuts him off and reminds him that they’re at work. He also adds that he has nothing to do with that woman anymore and walks out of the elevator.

Jin-woo looks unsteady and catches his breath. He’s about to take his pills but slips them back into his pocket when Soo-young approaches him. She notices that he’s not looking well, and sure enough, he’s pale and sweating. He says that he’s just feeling a little feverish and heads home.

Listening to his gloomy classical music, Jin-woo recovers by sipping on some wine. He gets a message from Soo-young, who’s left some porridge by his door. He finds the porridge hanging on his door and rushes out to catch her.

When Jin-woo catches up to Soo-young outside, he invites her in, but she refuses. She insists that he rest and walks into a car. The car alarm goes off, so she grabs him to hide behind another car before the owner runs over.

When the owner walks away, Soo-young sighs in relief and Jin-woo looks amused. He says that they didn’t need to hide; they could have just explained the situation to the owner. She laughs in realization and notices that Jin-woo stepped on dog poop.

He looks disgusted by his shoe and flings it off his foot. Soo-young laughs and runs to collect the shoe. She says that she can just rub the poop off, but Jin-woo gags and tells her to throw the shoe away. She continues to rub the poop off, and Jin-woo hilariously hops back into the building on one foot.

Soo-young finishes cleaning the shoe in Jin-woo’s bathroom and proudly presents the clean shoe to Jin-woo, who still looks a little disgusted. He insists that she stay for tea, and she happily agrees. On the table, she notices a company birthday card addressed to Jin-woo and asks him about it. Jin-woo says that his birthday’s on Sunday but has nothing planned, so Soo-young offers to make him dinner after their workshop trip.

She claims to be a pretty good cook and tells him she’ll make seaweed soup for his birthday. He agrees, and she looks pleased. After Soo-young leaves, Jin-woo takes out the porridge she made, but it comes out of the thermos in chunks. Good cook, eh?

The hockey boys prepare for their game, and Yoo-ah walks into their locker room with no care for their shirtless and pants-less state. She’s looking for her hubby, but he’s in the bathroom. On the ground, she finds Min-seok’s skates which look old and shabby. Coach eventually kicks her out calling her a stalker, but she seems more upset about the skates than anything.

After their win, Coach treats the whole hockey team to dinner. He tells them to keep up the energy for their weekend practices, but Min-seok knows he can’t make them. The company workshop is that weekend. Thinking quickly, he yells a request that Coach cancel weekend practice in honor of their win, and the rest of the team yells in agreement and pounds their spoons on the table like a bunch of Neanderthals. Coach agrees, and the team erupts in cheers. The trio celebrates with a group hug.

Min-seok drops by the cleaners to help Dad with work. Dad notices the barbecue smell and calls Min-seok a traitor for eating meat without him and Grandpa. He asks how the game went, and Min-seok confidently states that they won, obviously because he was playing. Min-seok then lies that Coach is going overboard and having the team go on an overnight weekend training trip.

Dad doesn’t believe him and thinks that Min-seok’s going elsewhere. Min-seok overreacts, “Wow, how can you do this? Wow, you don’t believe your son? Wow.” Dad changes the subject to his hyung, asking Min-seok if he’s been in contact with him yet. Again, Min-seok lies and says that hyung was too busy moving and will send them his new address later. Dad seems frustrated with Hyung-seok’s behavior, and Min-seok leaves, saying hyung never really called anyway.

When Min-seok arrives home, Grandpa is on the phone calling out Hyung-seok’s name. Min-seok rushes over and grabs the phone, only to get a dead line. He asks Grandpa if hyung actually called, but Grandpa shakes his head no. Grandpa says he misses Hyung-seok and asks when he’ll be back. One hundred nights? Min-seok looks sad and doubtful, but he smiles and nods that hyung should be back by then.

Excited by this news, Grandpa starts counting to one hundred, and Min-seok heads to his room. He looks awfully lonely sitting on his bed, head hanging, while Grandpa counts in the background.

Yoo-ah lies on her bed with a creative laptop-drying rack contraption. She’s checking the prices of new skates, which happen to be way over her budget, and falls into a dilemma.

On her way to the team gathering, Soo-young stops by a bakery to order a cake for Jin-woo. She’s the last to arrive, and Min-seok hides a little smile when he sees her. They all board the bus, but Team Leader Kim pulls Min-seok away to ride in a separate car. He doesn’t trust Min-seok to be on that bus without supervision. Smart on his part, but that cuts out bus shenanigans. Darn.

Duk-hwan and Tae-seok roam the streets, free from the tortures of practice that weekend. They plan a three-course day – movie, dinner, and karaoke – and excitedly walk down the street when they notice Yoo-ah handing out flyers promoting lipsticks.

They walk over to ask what she’s doing, but she tells them she’s busy working and shoos them away. Duk-hwan pulls Tae-seok aside and makes the connection that Yoo-ah must be working to help Min-seok because they lied to her about his struggling family circumstances. So the next thing we know, they’re helping out Yoo-ah with the flyers, bringing in a bunch of ladies to check out the lipstick. I guess the male, young, tall, and cute factors help when your target audience is ladies.

The retail team takes a break at a rest stop, and Soo-young gets up from her nap to take a bathroom break. On her way back, she spots two children who seem to be lost. She approaches them and helps them find their mom, and in the meantime, the rest of the team has gathered back in the bus. Thinking that Soo-young’s still sleeping under her jacket, the team leaves without her. The children find their mother, but Soo-young ends up stranded at the rest stop.

Only when everyone arrives at the workshop site do they realize that Soo-young’s missing. Her bag and everything are on the bus, but she’s nowhere to be seen. Hearing this, Jin-woo offers to drive back to the rest stop and Min-seok tags along since Soo-young’s on his team. Or because he likes her.

Min-seok asks Jin-woo what he thinks about Soo-young now that he’s gotten to know her. Jin-woo says to mind his own business and comments that Min-seok must be pretty carefree, poking his nose into someone else’s business. He responds that he’s actually really busy nowadays and suggests that they continue the drive without any further interactions.

But that’s easier said than done, especially between these two. Min-seok rolls down the window, but Jin-woo rolls it back up since the air conditioner is on. Min-seok rolls it back down, saying that he wants fresh air, but Jin-woo rolls it up because it’s his car. And so an intense window battle ensues.

When President Yoo arrives at the workshop site, everyone greets him with smiles and laughter. They’re just settling down and waiting for the rest of the group, so he suggests that they play some jokgu. They all happily agree and play a game called “President Yoo always wins jokgu.”

At the rest stop, Soo-young searches for anyone who’s heading in her direction. One mysterious man offers to take her, even though it’s a bit out of his way, but Soo-young refuses and continues looking for a woman going in her direction.

Just in time, the two rivals arrive to collect Soo-young. Min-seok calls her over, but she rushes over to Jin-woo instead. They have a conversation without Min-seok, who looks quite bothered and jealous. Min-seok steps in between them and yells at Soo-young for causing an inconvenience. When they reach the car, Min-seok tells Soo-young to get in the back seat because he has to talk to Jin-woo while Jin-woo insists that Soo-young take the front. The back and forth continues until Soo-young makes the decision to sit in the front.

Except she’s driving. She has both boys sit comfortably in the back to converse while she drives them to the location. Min-seok brushes his hand on Jin-woo’s hand, so he wipes off the cooties on Jin-woo’s shirt. They bicker and push each other like little boys while Soo-young smiles to herself. Hehe.

After a game of jokgu, the servile employees praise President Yoo for his masterful skills. They’re tired from the game, but President Yoo suggests (orders) that they go on a walk. He offers prize money, and the tired employees reluctantly follow.

Yoo-ah receives payment from her job, and her two helpers offer to buy food. She smells something fishy and orders them to spill the beans. “Which one of you two like me?” There’s no way that they would help her out at work and offer to buy food for no reason. Although they initially deny her assumption, Duk-hwan lies that Tae-seok has been secretly liking her.

This is news to Tae-seok, but Duk-hwan pinches him to go along with it. Yoo-ah corners him and tells him to get over her before Min-seok finds out. Or else. Tae-seok flinches at Yoo-ah’s slightest hand gesture but breathes a sigh of relief when she just walks away. Oh, the sacrifices they make in the name of friendship.

The whole workshop group finally meets and they share a meal. It’s a party with barbecue, drinks, and singing. Retail team member Ji Dae-han starts singing a slow song on his guitar but gets interrupted by Assistant Park, who brings the life of the party. Off to the side, Go Yoon-ju walks over to Dae-han and tells him to keep playing; she’ll listen. A little side workplace romance action going on.

Min-seok gets in the groove and joins the dance party. Soo-young has been glancing at Jin-woo the whole time, but he doesn’t notice and leaves the table to pick up a call. It’s from his friend, who has updates about Hyung-seok.

Jin-woo sits outside watching the company dinner and thinks back to Min-seok’s behavior. The fun, friendly, and easygoing nature is nothing like what his friend described – a perfectionist and a bit aloof. His friend also confirmed that Hyung-seok was in Germany two weeks ago, which isn’t possible since he was already working at Comfo by then. Jin-woo wonders what’s going on and what he can’t get caught for.

Soo-young interrupts his thoughts and invites him back to the party. But Jin-woo declines and invites her to take a walk with him. At the invitation, Soo-young hides her wide smile and agrees. Min-seok finally notices that Soo-young has disappeared and sees that she’s walking off with Jin-woo.

Since Soo-young is rubbing her arms because of the cold, Jin-woo offers to grab a jacket for her. He runs off, and Min-seok makes his entrance. He orders his secretary to accompany him to buy ramen for their group, but she tries to decline. Min-seok scolds her for making him walk this dark night road alone and forces her to come along.

When Jin-woo comes back, Soo-young is gone, but she sends him a text saying she’ll be back. He looks around and notices that Min-seok is gone as well.

During their walk, Soo-young complains that she doesn’t want ramen, but Min-seok tells her to just go with it. He starts asking her if she’s come to these places when she was dating, but Soo-young gets distracted by cricket noises. She’s got bad memories of the bug and cringes just at the thought. Min-seok tries to bring the conversation back to dating by asking if she’s dated younger guys, but she’s distracted again by the noises. Eventually, Min-seok gives up and joins her conversation about the disgusting bugs.

He pretends to see the bug and opens his arms wide so that Soo-young can jump into him. He’s pleased by this scenario and jokes to her that he’s going to find the bug to put into her bag one day. Min-seok cries bug again with his arms wide open, and Soo-young jumps into his arms. He cries bug a couple more times with his arms ready, but Soo-young doesn’t seem as convinced anymore. Still, the boy who cried bug seems satisfied.

The next morning, the workshop teams head back on the bus. Min-seok throws another fit, wanting to ride the bus, but Team Leader Kim drags him away. Meanwhile, Jin-woo and Soo-young plan their meet-up for when they get back.

When they arrive back at the company, Min-seok asks Soo-young to hang out, but she declines, saying that her very good friend’s birthday is today. He accepts this excuse and walks off while Soo-young sneaks away into Jin-woo’s car.

On Min-seok’s walk back, President Yoo stops his car and offers to give him a ride. Min-seok gladly accepts. They talk about the workshop, and Min-seok asks President Yoo why he comes to work even on weekends. Doesn’t his family say anything? President Yoo replies that he doesn’t have much family to accompany since they’re all busy on their own. “At one point, work became more comfortable than home.” Min-seok finds those words admirable, though there is a hint of sadness to them.

As Min-seok gets dropped off, President Yoo recognizes someone on a bike. He gets out to check but doesn’t get a good look.

The bike man is Dad, who calls out to Min-seok as he’s walking by. They greet each other with a “Hey Father!” and “Hey Son!” like the adorable family they are. Being the irresponsible son, Min-seok hangs his duffel on Dad and goes off on a run. Dad comments on his young blood, returning from weekend training but still wanting to exercise.

Soo-young cooks up a birthday feast for Jin-woo, and he thanks her for accompanying him. He notices that she keeps checking her watch and asks what she’s waiting for. She claims that she’s not waiting on anything and asks him what gift he would like to receive. Jin-woo says he doesn’t need a gift but asks for a favor: report all of Min-seok’s business emails to him.

At this, Soo-young hesitates and says that she can’t do that for him. She works for Min-seok, so it wouldn’t be right to do such a thing. A bit offended, Jin-woo asks about their relationship. Even when Soo-young was fired Min-seok went to great lengths to hire her back, and she seems pretty loyal as well. What’s with that?

Soo-young finally figures it out. This was the reason why Jin-woo treated her so well. Having realized this, she starts to leave, but Jin-woo isn’t done. He says that she has no choice in this matter; his request is an order. He can easily fire her again. Disappointed and embarrassed, she walks out, and Jin-woo looks a little disappointed as well.

As if the show is trying to make up for Jin-woo’s assholery, they give us a brooding shower scene. Yup, that means abs. When he gets out of the shower (with an untied bathrobe), he gets a call from Min-seok, who asks about the next meeting.

The call is interrupted by the doorbell, and it’s none other than Soo-young. She’s on the verge of tears as she explains that she would have been a fool to leave without standing her ground and saying something. Jin-woo looks shocked that she’s back, and Min-seok hears her voice from the other side of the line.

She laments having wasted two years crushing on a guy like him. “You can fire me again if you’d like. Yoo Jin-woo, don’t live like that. You’re a son of a bitch with no common courtesy.” Applause for our brave Soo-young.

Having heard the whole conversation, Min-seok yells on the other side of the line, but Jin-woo doesn’t hear him. He tries calling Soo-young, but she doesn’t pick up. So he runs all around the neighborhood looking for her.

Jin-woo gets the cake that Soo-young was waiting on along with a birthday card from her, telling him to smile. But he doesn’t look too happy spending another birthday alone.

After a long search, Min-seok finally spots Soo-young. He runs down the stairs to confront her, but the tears are still streaming down her face. She thinks back to all the warnings that Min-seok gave her about Jin-woo and asks him why he didn’t just say that Jin-woo fired her.

Min-seok says that he was wondering that himself. “Why wasn’t I able to just tell you? But now, I think I know why. This is my answer.”

Then he swoops in for the kiss.

COMMENTS

Woah, I don’t know if I was expecting that this early, but we did get a good build-up to it. Min-seok confirms his feelings with the ten second embrace in the beginning and finishes off with a bang, or more like a smooch. I’m sure some part of his actions have to do with his raging hormones, but that’s not all of it. He’s honest with his feelings and doesn’t have the patience to be as cunning as Jin-woo. On one part, he seems to earnestly care for Soo-young, but we’ve yet to see if this is simply puppy love or something more serious.

Min-seok approach to showing affection for Soo-young seems so childlike. He does that thing that boys do to girls when they like them: give them a hard time. The pairing is weird but adorable, and their banter is quite entertaining. But Min-seok seems to be fighting for her attention not in the most efficient manner, and it contrasts with Jin-woo’s approach. Not that Jin-woo’s manipulation is in any way appealing, but I can’t be the only one who saw him break his solemn façade a little. He handles his feelings – true or not – with more maturity, and that’s where I see the gap. Is his earnestness enough, or will he have to get over his high school self to compete with the big boys?

Jin-woo had a great episode. I don’t know if I’ve seen Lee Soo-hyuk in a role like this, but I’m glad he’s showcasing a bit more range. He shows the right amount of subtlety for his character, just enough so that we don’t hate the manipulative asshole he is. We’ve seen Jin-woo’s weakness – unstable family relationships – but we get a better look this time. We see the happiness and sorrow in his face when he visits his mother, who’s a victim of his father’s rage. It’s heartbreaking to see him try to mend his relationship with his father, only to get flatly rejected and fall into anxiety. He tries to invite his father for a birthday dinner, but their relationship almost seems to be a lost cause. I say almost because President Yoo realizes what he’s become; he just doesn’t see the point in making amends.

With Soo-young filling in that void with a simple birthday dinner, I think Jin-woo was genuinely thankful. In that sense, I definitely saw the potential between these two. They balance each other out differently from how Soo-young and Min-seok balance each other out, but it worked. I’m not exactly rooting for them, as I’m sure we’ll have more reasons to root for both sides, but I would say that it’s still early in the game. There’s still plenty of time for the tables to turn, possibly more than once. And that means more bickering and jealousy between our boys, which seems so promising after this episode.

We were given so many goodies, but I’m convinced that the best is yet to come. And with the talks of an extension, I’m hoping there will be more hijinks, quirky romance, and bromance heading our way. Bring it on, Savvy!

Ohhhh, I actually started to have a soft spot for Jin-Woo (also because he is freakingly hot *shower scence alarm*), mostly becausse I loved his doe-eyed sweetness around our secretary. But just like that he had to make a sharp character u-turn and became nasty again. I´m sure that he already sees more in her, he just needs to solve his daddy issues and fixation on trying to prove his worth only through work. Is it already a sign of second lead-syndrome if I can´t stop myself from forgiving him? But the kiss between Min Suk and Soo Young is a telltale sign alll by itself.....at least in dramaland. In my own version, Jin-Woo gets a real shot with Soo Young after revealing his softer side again......a girl can dream:-)

And before I forget it: Thank you so much for the speedy recap, dramallama! I´ve come to really look forward to your view on these quirky characters. All in all, to me it looks like the minion camp is flourishing an polishing many sparkling writer gems.
I would really like to know more about all the new recappers: like your favourite dramas, your recappping experiences so far etc. Would it be possible to update the site with the presentation of all the current recap minions?

Sorry, this is somewhat off tangent but does anybody know the songs at the end of ep 6 and ep 7 , yes the hug song and the first kiss song respectively. Anybody please...? For the titles and the artists, thanks!

Hell yeah, I would love to see this realized in the near future:-)

I thought Jin-woo's response was out of jealousy towards her loyalty to Min-seok. He seemed surprised, conflicted and regretful after telling her he was the person who fired her.

But the car scene!! So FUNNY! Jin-woo and Min-seok are just way too cute when they're together. I can watch them bicker and be petty over anything.

They are hilarious together. They kind of remind me of the male leads in Protect the Boss, who had several awesome petty scenes. :-)

The car scene was hands down the best part of the episode for me. They are officially my favorite bromanies now.

Protect the boss came to mind for me too. I hope we get some bromance scenes later like we did in protect the boss.

Agree. I thought it was more out of pissy irritation and he seemed to immediately regret it when she left, stewed over it some more in the shower (which, btw, THANK YOU SHOW) and stewed some more when the cake was delivered. I also think it's funny how the show basically got Jin-woo naked in order to distract us from his recent jerky behavior.

I was half paying attention and when I saw the shower scene / abs I kept thinking "I hope it's not the high school kid" cuz that would make me feel pervy.
Then found out it was Jin Woo...I rewinded it. Lol

"Yup, that means abs. When he gets out of the shower (with an untied bathrobe).."

I nearly choked on my spit with this one! Lol

by far, this is my fave episode coz well, it started with a hug and ended with a kiss and that killer song playing in the background, which by the way, is still a mystery . gosh, i've been waiting for days already for any sign of that song. maybe next week, they will finally release it as part 4 of the OST. any of you guys have a Korean friend who could maybe listen to the song and clue us in, or maybe they know the title and artist of the song, tho I'm somewhat skeptical coz this might be new and was made especially for the ost alone. anybody, somebody who could identify it,pls? will appreciate very much.

This show is like an ONION! Layers, layers everywhere (with a tear here and there of course).

There were so many things I liked about this episode and the different levels we saw here.

1. Jin Woo was interesting here, along with his family. We saw another side of him, but he didn't suddenly do a complete 180 in personality, which I do appreciate. I do think he's starting to care for Soo-young and does already a bit, but his mind is focused on the Min Seok mystery.

2. I quite like the banter between the boys, especially in regards to Soo-young. It was absolutely hilarious when they were arguing where she should sit after they picked her up, and then she ended up driving lol.

3. The side stories! Honestly what separates a good drama from a great is how they handle the side characters. It was great seeing Yoo-ah working and the romance between Ji Dae-han and Go Yoon-ju, but what I like is that Ji Dae han was ignored by his coworkers throughout the show and now he's getting some attention from someone.

4. Who is Yoo-ah's actress? Because I'm really liking her. And that contraption to hold her laptop upside down too haha.

5. Really digging Soo-young. When she went back and told Jin Woo off, I was literally cheering from my desk. Also the scene where she thought Min-seok liked Jin Woo and thought of her as a rival was great :P

ahh, I'm surprisingly loving this show. Didn't' think I would at first.

I've seen her in the KBS drama special before with Kwak Dong Yeon, which wasn't bad. When I saw her on this cast, it was another reason for me to check it out.

Thanks for the recap!

This show is so damn gooddd. I just love all the characters, and all the actors are playing them with such flair and charisma AND heart. I love all the relationships that are forming. Min Seok's growing crush on Soo Young is just so...entertaining and unexpectedly satisfying. I seriously adore him so much. Even though I have so many reservations about this couple, they are so bizarre that I think I might just be rooting for them.

I also think I'm going to like the changed relationship between Soo-Young and Jin-Woo. I love Jin-Woo, but my favorite part of the episode was definitely seeing Soo-Young stand up for herself and chew him out for stomping on her kindness and leading her on. And I'm hoping that moment will be a turning point for them.

I could seriously talk for hours about everything else I loved, but I seriously don't have the time too.

"I also think I’m going to like the changed relationship between Soo-Young and Jin-Woo."

Yep, I think that NOW their relationship can finally get off the ground, free from deception.

Whatever happens between Soo-young and Min-seok, Jin-woo's gonna have to work a lot harder to figure out his feelings and win over Soo-young - and I'm totally looking forward to that!!

Wow, Wow! Well done, show. These writers and directors are genius, and the cast is nailing it. Hard to remember a drama where I laughed out loud several times, feel into deep sympathy, and laughed out loud again—all in the first 20 minutes.

Great scriptwriting here, fleshing out the side characters with heart and humor, delving into the back story of our sad and lovely second lead, then cleverly, with heart, letting the lead experience his slow reveal. ‘Do I like her, I can’t let her know I like her, yes, I really DO like this woman.’ Fantastic. Job.

I’ve always been a fan of the Min-Suk/Soo-Young pairing, as I like the actors and that’s where the show seemed to be pointing even before the first episode. Fast forward to episode 7 and I’m thinking “Wow, maybe a relationship between Soo-Young and Jin Woo can work, look at the cute and connection happening.” Then stepping off a cliff on that idea at the end. As a writer, I appreciate great writing…this is great writing.

I also appreciated the character development in Yoo-Ah, and felt more sympathy and understanding for her character. I actually began to think, ‘Maybe she is someone who could work with Min-Suk.’ That never crossed my mind before, but she delivered it. Wonderful interactions between her and the two best friends. How awesome it was for them to help her hawk the lipstick. Very cute scene.

The bickering high school directors in the back seat while Soo-Young drives; the guitar scene where someone is actually listening to that guy: priceless.

I really appreciate what they are doing with the second leads. In some ways you could consider them stock characters (evil rich guy and stalker girlfriend), but I am so impressed with how much they have fleshed out the characters in such a short amount of time.

I think it is great that you and I can watch the same episode and yet come away with totally different impressions. Here is my point of view, which is not to dispute or disagree with yours in any way:

The first thing I like is the wholesome alpha jock male in awesome contrast to weasels (office higher-ups) and bozos (high school sidekicks) and eunuchs (office males). I love it. This is so how real life (in men's world) tends to go.

The first thing that I dislike is the sisters, both of whom are so deluded when it comes to men. I do agree that it makes the story very dramatic but I hate to see women portrayed as vain, stupid and not learning fast enough. What will it take to get the sisters to think before they throw themselves to one-sided wishful thinking? Men are not interested in devotion. It bores them. They want challenges and hard-won victories.

And, the comic antics of the secretary and the sidekicks are about to overstay their welcome. By now, we get it. So, move on to the next level. That head movement by the bespectacled secretary is getting really annoying now. And the hockey boys - well, get a life.

Thank you, dramallama for the fast recap and comments :D

Did anyone else get the feeling that MS is behaving more and more like a teenager as the show progresses? Maybe it's because I started watching the raws (yep, just can't wait) - but I feel he's getting younger and younger before our eyes.
Not that he is the only one. JW sure does act childish around MS - can't wait for him to encounter cold-blooded Hyung!

I love love love the show's attention to detail in the littlest of things. For example at the worshop, after MS has forced SK to follow him and JW looks around for her, we see some nice organic group interactions in the backgroung - with No-one-lets-me-finish-boy hurling into the bushes and the short hair girl compforting him. I live for these moments.

I feel like I'm the only one rooting for Jin Woo and Soo Young .. I'm not a fan of noona romance, plus I love me some female lead getting a hot sad guy (Jin Woo proved to be both) out of his infinite sorrow. Min Seok is a kid, a mature one, but still. A high school student has no business falling in love (?) with a grown woman.
I hope this extension means we can see Jin Woo end up with Soo Young .. Let the lonely man get something out of this plot !

in 10 years Min Seok will be 28 and she will be in her mid/late thirties or so which isn't too bad? I get you on the whole hot sad guy but Jin Woo is horrible to Soo Young (he fired her for a petty reason) and never cared for her (and only pretended to care for her to use her) :(

The lonely boy should get his family stuff sorted and resolve his self esteem issues, and also the pill popping, and the awesome warm-hearted guy should get the girl :D
I actually really like Jin Woo, and at first was kinda rooting for Soo Young to succeed, but after seeing how adorable and heartfelt Min Seok is with her, I can't help but ship them.
And he's above the age of consent (in my country at least). They can just do a small flash-forward at the end to show that he's graduated and they're officially together. And this is more the journey of her falling for him too, and of course the pretending-to-be-my-big-bro-shenanigans :)
My only problem is the little sister. She's really grown on me, and I don't know what to do with her. I'd say one of the friends, but I love them both. Seriously, how awesome are they? :D

Also, love the cute little pairing of the-guy-that-no-one-listens-to with the cute, fiesty girl :D adorable :)

Ahhhh I'm not sure if I'm the only one rooting this but I like the little sister with Jin Woo. She's sweet but feisty and I think she's perfect for Mr Sad and Lonely.

I really don't care about the age in this drama anymore. Every time I look at SY, I think hey she's really just a kid with her mannerisms too. The age thing just fizzles out in the background for all of the characters. Even Ji Dae Han's side romance looks like a noon-dongsaeng couple too!

I know this comment is old, but I thought I was the only one! (when it comes to Jin Woo and little sis) I'm not like hard-core shipping them or anything, and I'm fully expecting them not to happen, but I've had a couple moments now in which I've thought "what if...?"
Age gaps have never bothered me. It's all in how the characters are written, but when done right, I've rooted for couples with much larger gaps than MS and SY.

Actually, he's 18. And Soo Young is 28. Why does it matter really? 10 years is not that huge of a gap. If she really loves Min Sook no matter what his age is, (and even though he lied to her--which I know, will break her heart and could take a couple of episodes before they finally work things out), I know she'll still accept him. Because love has no limits (no matter how cheezy that might sound).

nope, you're not alone! I'm also rooting for the sad, mopey guy to get the girl! :D i think SY and MS are his first encounter with sincere human beings, individuals with no ulterior motives. I'd like to give him a chance since he's still trying to figure out how he's supposed to react to kindness and actually have fun without fearing it'll soon end in betrayal. He's still acting on impulse nd this week's episodes just showed us his remorse. Can't wait for the episodes when he'll try to turn the tables!^_^

Nothing to do with age - that doesn't bother me.

I just think that SY can do more to help him heal, and he already responds to that caring streak in her. Yes, he behaved like an ass, but I was honestly surprised that he blurted out the truth about firing her. He looked like he regretted it immediately.

Plus, the bonus is that she already knows where his bathroom and kitchen are. All he needs to do is take down that stag head trophy light, and she'll be right at home!

I'm with you, I really wanted them to be together but this episode just made things impossible to happen between them. Before this episode, he wasn't that bad but having shown this side of him to Soo Young and Min Seuk's kiss...well, they just complicate matters.

And uuugh, I really hate noona romances and their age difference (if it's indeed 10 years) then makes it worse. If it were an 18 year old girl dating a 28 year old man it'd be icky. I can't see how different it is when the boy is younger and the woman older. I can deal with a noona romance when both of them are adults but in this case...noup.

It also has a lot to do with the fact that I adoooore the actor playing Jin Woo lol

Also, poor Tae Seok! Maybe he really will end up with Yoo Ah.

The Retail Team staff seem pretty ok too. When I first see them, I thought they're gonna be nasty people (like the folks from Baby-faced Beauty).

The part about Ji Dae Han suddenly mentioning his grandfather after the walk - at first I really thought Min Seok's grandpa was there! So funny that the other manager squirted water from his mouth to that poor Dae Han.

This is random and doesn't mean anything: MS wore red shoes to the workshop, but the next day he wore another pair.

This show does like to show shoes, huh. When I rewatched the earlier eps, in ep 2, it also shows the feet/shoes of MD Han, Team Leader Kim and MS while they're discussing their situation, after they came out of the President's office.

Then there's the shoe scene too before the hug and the kiss.

PPL perhaps?

I was believe Yoo Jin Woo's was Diadora, and I think I spotted a New Balance during the hockey team dinner.

That's kdrama for me.. when they start flashing in brands or focusing on products, I immediately think of PPL.. One more instance would be the laundry folding scene, there was a brand on the comforter his Father was folding..

As for the drama, there was lots to like in this ep but my personal favorite aside from the car bickering and the attempt for a hug while walking in the dark was SY giving JW a piece of her mind. I was cheering in front of my laptop at that scene.

And btw, was I the only one squeaked out by the "kiss"? My initial reaction was to shout eww! Noe because of the age thingy but because her lips was covered in tears, and probably snot.

Seo In-Guk and Lee Soo-Hyuk :)

I've always enjoyed Seo In-Guk and Lee Soo-Hyuk in their previous dramas. With each new episode of High School King of Savvy, both of them continue to impress me tremendously with their acting skills as they portray their respective characters Lee Min-Seok and Yoo Jin-Woo.

Sports and exercise in HSKoS are aspects of the show that I look forward to and really take delight in. I'm always excited to see the hockey games, team locker room antics, practice sessions, physical training, team retreats via outdoor sporting activities such as biking, volleyball, and hiking in addition to the running scenes through the streets or up a flights of stairs.

It's a rare treat to see a character like Lee Min-Seok in such great shape - athletically, physically, and mentally.

I hope the writer continues to write Yoo Jin-Woo as more than just the typical second lead but as someone with emotional depth dealing with and trying to overcome years of susceptibility of physical and emotional harm by his father.

Thank you for the recap!

Jinwoo, you bastard! He alternated between tugging my heart strings and making me giggle through most of the episode and then... I knew she'd find out sooner or later, but I still didn't expect it to be quite so cold. (And he'd been *so* cute earlier, hopping around like a one legged kangaroo.) This is going to make working with Minseok's team on the Y Tower or whatever a whole new level of awkward. I hope he learns how to be a decent human being by the end of the show, instead of just faking it.

I continue to love Sooyoung. I'm so glad she went back to Jinwoo's to give him a piece of her mind. Her babysitting the two boys in the car while they had their little shoving match was great too; she had a lot more patience for their childishness than I would have. I wonder how she's going to take Minseok's reveal that he's not actually who he says he is either, after Jinwoo's betrayal. Granted, Minseok has much better reasons but....

Speaking of childnessness, Minseok alternated between cracking me up and making me want to hit him throughout the episode. I loved his petty car window argument with Jinwoo and his whining about riding with Team Leader Kim. I'm a lot less fond his constant attempts to boss Sooyoung around. It's one thing when they're actually in the office, but watching him try to order her into the backseat out of jealousy wasn't that cute to me.... I hope he matures a little more.

I agree with all that you said, dahlia!

About the firing, in ep6, MS didn't want to tell SY that JW was the one who fired her, but when he was lashing out at her in his office, he said something like "I know you are nice, but how can you smile at a guy who fired you?"

So I thought she would have known about the firing, but her reaction didn't say much (she wasn't shocked), so she couldn't have heard or digested what MS was saying, is that it?

0

Required fields are marked *

I wonder about that too. Jinwoo even said he wanted to take her out to dinner the first time as an apology, didn't he? I wonder if the implication was that as a higher-up, he had to sign off on her firing but it wasn't something that could be prevented due to budget/it was technically out of his hands. While in this episode, he made it clear he'd singled her out specifically. That's my guess.

I love the show, I love the characters. But maybe because I love the characters sooo much, especially Soo Young, I really cannot stomach what Min Seok does to her. Maybe because I cannot stand immature guys in real life.

The thing is, she is trying so hard to stand on her own two feet but MS comes in and tries to barrel her - he thinks it's for her own good (I understand it's him being protective in his immature way) but it doesn't take away the hurt, rather add to the hurt that SY feels and it has now occurred twice (1) teasing about JW and (2) the way he went about the rehiring.

I am really not rooting for them now because MS has sooo much growing up to do to be compatible with SY. Maybe the show can show me how.

Thanks for the fast recap Dramallama!

Loved this episode! I just want to give Soo Young a hug every time I see her. She's such a good character. I loved the bait and switch move the writers did with Jin Woo. They made us see a softer side to him but in the end the asshole rears it's ugly head (some shower scene with abs galore to soften the blow too - good use of fan service). I can't wait to see what Min Seok's going to do when he sees Jin Woo again.

I'm so happy that this show just keeps getting better and better. Every character is interesting and there's not a single dull scene. Between this show, Trot Lovers (which has finally found it's legs and has been quite enjoyable these days), and Fated to Love You.. my weekday romcom fix has been satiated. Good job Kdramaland!

Literally just finished this episode and it is ALL THE GOOD THINGS!!! This drama is just doing everything right for me.

Jin Woo is such a layered character. Usually, when we see this character as the male lead, they just come off as a complete tool with no redeemable qualities (coupled with a back story that doesn't really justify/explain their actions in any way). But Jin Woo is so tragic. I hate him, and I feel so much pain for him at the same time. I literally cried for him at one point, and it's hard for a drama to make me cry anymore. I just want to hug him. (I want to give him a swift kick in the booty first, but then I just want to hug him.)

Min Seok just keeps getting better. Watching him act all lovesick is soooooo cute! I love the scene where he and Soo Young are taking a walk and he keeps telling her there's a bug on the ground when there isn't. Seeing him stand there with his awkwardly open arms is both comical and endearing.

And way to go Soo Young! I knew she had some fight in her. She's one of those characters that looks really fragile and incapable of standing up for herself, but I knew there was more to her then that. She just knows how to pick her battles. Some fights are worth fighting for and some are worth moving on from. She made the right choice to go and tell Jin Woo off. And she was right to call Min Seok out on not telling her the truth about who fired her.

This, Trot Lovers, and Fated to Love You are my favorite dramas that I'm watching right now.

Actually states have their own age of consent laws.

Age 16: 30 States

Age 17: 9 States

Age 18: 11 States

The Federal government has a legal age of consent of 18. Federal law, however, applies only to sexual acts that involve travel between different states, countries, or on federal property.

I'm leaning more towards Min-seok's affections being puppy love, because... c'mon it totally is. People are mistaking his kindheartedness as maturity. He is just a human who cares about other humans. Especially weirdos. Ha. He is not mature. Lol. Well, AS mature as some are making him out to be. He's still a teenager with lots of growing up to do. I think he knows it too. So I'm really hoping the script does so much more than "pair" people together. I trust it will. It better. Ha.

Screw brand product placements, I want that diy laptop holder that Yoo Ah made with a drying rack and some clothespins. It combines two of my most favourite things: lying in bed and the internet.

I don't understand why Min Seok's lovesickness is considered childish, I think anyone who is lovesick behaves that way, adult or not. Remember how Sooyoung acted when she had a crush on Jinwoo? She's an adult too.

Jin woo's an adult and although he's not lovesick, he's behaving like a jerk which is worse than being childish imo.

Love the whole show by the way, not a single dull moment.

I wholeheartedly agree with you! Almost everyone is childish when they're in love/crushing on someone.

I don't understand why people consider Min Suk as childish and Jin Woo as not because all I've seen recently is that in reality, he's just as childish too and not in the likeable way ):

Maybe the shower scene made everyone else too forgiving. Lol.

I think someone here opined that this drama makes us think about what it really means being childish and mature and as we can see, it goes back and forth between the leads. Pride and Prejudice scenario playing in my head. Haha.

I think I am fine with Sooyoung ending up with Jinwoo if Minsuk is not her endgame. Because of..you know..the shower scene.

Awesome acting by Seo In Guk. I really want him to win an acting award for this drama! (He can share the prize with Park Seo Joon, coz I love them both, haha)

It's only halfway... I hope the episodes get better each time, all the way to the end!

The kiss at the end of epi 7 had me loving it..but now that episode 8 came through..The whole thing has settle in and I jus can't with another noona romance..I mean this one she could of been giving him baths as his babysitter and now she wants to be with him..cant blame her since he does seem like a knight and always looking out for her..I'm hoping the show is going through the love quickly so they can quickly dismissed it and get to the meat of the story bout his family and brother..

I've never cared for age differences and personally, I had a friend who dated a guy 10 years older than her when we were still in secondary school. She's married now! Quite amazing, in my opinion.

Maybe it's just me but I don't mind Min Suk's childishness with Soo Young because I like it ;) I'm 23 and I want a relationship where I can just be childish with the person I love, including teasing, typical jealousy. Etc. Just have fun... with commitment of course!

Or maybe it's because I'm not the romantic type? I think that as long as Min Suk makes the right decisions when it matters in the end, that's maturity in a sense. Take a step back when necessary. We sort of see that in episode 8 when he distances himself from her(to get over her and not cause problems for her) after she sort of rejects him? It takes maturity to do that.

He may be immature at times but I don't mind because when it matters, he shows sincerity and honesty, and I appreciate that from someone.

Jin Woo is 28 and it seems that he can be just as immature since he actually hurt her semi-intentionally when she chose not to betray Min Suk. I like him but that's a horrible way to show your jealousy(?), pettiness(?) to someone who cares about you. Seriously though? Your age doesn't define who you are. It's your attitude and personality that does that.

Everybody has different expectations in regards to relationships though so this is just a personal opinion. To each their own (:

Anyway. Why does everyone mention Jin Woo's angsty past but nobody mentions the little signs of distress from Min Suk when it comes to his family? He seems like a bubbly character but obviously, there are cracks in his persona which makes me wonder about his past. It's probably happier than Jin Woo but that doesn't make it any less painful.

Oh well! Can't wait for episode 9 next week for cute hijinks with the OTP and I really hope Min Suk is the one to tell her the truth about himself instead of her finding out from someone else! No good will come from that but well, angst is probably on its way.

I look forward to the budding bromance though! I think Jin Woo needs a Min Suk in his life more than a Soo Young because truthfully, Min Suk is exactly what Jin Woo needs to open his heart. If Min Suk wasn't around, he would have been a dick all year round and never been nice to Soo Young, right? Three cheers for bromance!

It's great that you mentioned it. I have noticed Min Suk's struggles with his past too. He has a certain mix of longing, envy and hatred for his brother Lee Hyung Seok. Every time Gramps expresses how much he misses Hyung Seok and Dad gets all worried and sends food, Min Suk gets defensive and lonely like a wounded bird. If Hyung Seok is as calculating as Jin Woo is then that also indicates that their past was just as painful. I think Min Suk simply had the chance to be emotionally resilient because he was younger then and the love from the (fake yet very genuine) family has given him a different perspective.

I feel so sorry for Jin Woo. He can act like a sneaky jerk and it is his fathers´influence I am sure, but he is such a sorry case
this is a very well played series, overall. they are convincing but Seo In Gook really IS the character. never once have I thought him fake.
thinking about it, actors job is to deceive us to believe they are the character. and now an actor plays a character who plays another character who is still nothing like the first character. perfect con job.
I wonder if he will have a double role by bringing the hyung back... and since they look alike he will play him too? woah. now how many layers of pretending - being himself does that make. all confused.

anyway.

you better not show me any more nekkid pictures of Jin Woo cause today I go work in our medieval tower part of the museum and if blood bursts out my nose all tourists will run away

One of the most thoughtful episodes of the show:

- In the dog poo scene, it's as if Soo-young is trying to teach Jin-woo NOT to throw things away when they get a little dirty (i.e. contrary to how he learned from the company president..). Love how she is becoming stronger and more independent.

- Seo In-guk's character is a quick adapter; love how he squirmed out of training camp by suggesting that he and the team train.

- Any 1 night 2 days Season 1 viewers here? :) The cute car scene bickering between Min-suk and Jin-woo reminded me of the epic backseat-waterfight between Kang Ho-dong, Lee Seung-gi, and Eun Ji-won back in 2011.

I'm loving the side stories but I wish they play out a little more of the business and wats goin on with his brother...The romance is creepy to me..basically she was graduating highschool when he was in 2nd grade..I never got on bored with noona romances even if it was switch around..everything bout it screams pedo to me..only reason I'm not totally gross out with it is because the I know the lead is older in real life..Please let her find out already..taken over 8 episodes since we already know she found out from the first one and it doesn't seem to get any closer..plus he knows that's the sister of the girl that loves him..too much of a kid for me

I LOVE this show!
I get easily annoyed when I watch k-dramas normally (esp if something starts off as a comedy/romance and ends up in a melo mess) but this drama actually gets better and better with each episode! The two leads have great chemistry (not in the sexual kind of way but in the the presence and believability in their acting).

Seo In-guk’s acting in this is so hilarious, he makes the best expressions in his face, and the female lead (Soo young) is quite endearing. In the beginning I was quite annoyed with her meek and strange personality, but I like it now. The actress does a good job portraying an good-hearted, clumsy, naive (oddball lol) sort of girl that grows on you. The side characters also have great personalities (even the "stalker"). This episode made me laugh so many times ("oh there's the bug!" *opens arms and waits for her to jump in* lol)

I'm glad they gave an extension, but I hope they put it to good use!

p.s. I just finished watching ep 8 (:D) I swear this show gives me life! It's renewed my love for ROM-COM K-dramas~

Excuse me for my ignorance...

Exactly what did he achieve/confirm in that 10 secs hug (he cheated, it's more than 10 secs! heh!).

He found the same heart beat (ala Dr Stranger style, hah)?
He feels comforted by the hug?
He feels intimacy?

What is it? How does he know she is the one?

I understood it more as him realizing he was really into her romantically. Before that point, I think he was feeling territorial about his relationship with her and experiencing jealousy about her and Jin-woo, without realizing that he was physically/romantically attracted to her. Before, he saw her as a friend and teammate. The hug, I saw as him realizing that, oh crap, he wants more out of their relationship.

If Jin-woo get over his daddy issues and be adorbs just like when Soo-young and him were in the parking lot, I bet there's gonna be shipwars. :))
Though I love to death Minsoo/Min-young couple, I can't deny that there is also chemistry between Jin-woo and Soo-young. But still, Minsoo couple ftw!!!
But I'm really waiting for the day when Jin-woo and Min-seok (as in Min-seok, not pretending to be Hyun-seok) where they'll be close and support each other and Min-seok calling Jin-woo "Hyung!!" so that Jin-woo will feel like he has a family. Dear writer-nim, please give me cute bromance too, OKAY? ^^

What a great episode! There were chuckes galore!

I'm just loving this series! The leads are fantastic and so adorable. Min-seok's mannerisms are so funny! I can't wait to see him fall even more in love with Soo-young. Oh boy is there going to be some intense heartache later on.

I also like the fact that they didn't make Jin-Woo really fall in love with Soo-young, something which happens in most dramas. It's more realistic this way.

I cant' wait till next week's episodes. Min-seok kissing his phone and drawing hearts in the air! His cuteness is killing me!

Agree. dreading that..and Sooyoung finding out Minsuk's age.

I really want to know the connection between the President and Minsuk's Dad. And where the heck is hyung?

Brava to Lee Soo Hyuk because he succeeded yet again to make my skin crawl with his scheming face as he asked SY for the favour. But then comes the Wet Hair and Brooding Regretful Face. And I pity him all over again.

I think it is very symbolical, these shower scenes in Asian dramas. Most of the times they happen after something sorrowful or regretful happens, and the running water is the cleansing ritual to rid of the guilt or sadness or whatever. Or am I reading too much into the scene? Haha

oh this drama is really stealing my heart. at the dinner i thought the guy who gets ignored would finally have his time to shine but no. i thought it was such a thoughtful gesture when the lady approached him and asked him to sing for her. i hope he gets more time to shine because i look forward to his scenes.

i am actually warming to jin woo more. i seriously adored the scene with him and min suk bickering in the car. and it's been so great seeing him be more expressive and being cutsey and pouting. MOARE PLEASE! i hate how he pushed her away in the end. but that shower scene lmaooo god help me .

oh min suk baby, you are so funny and adorable. it was painful seeing him constantly trying to come in between soo young and jin woo because in the end he is only hurting himself. i want him to be happy but he shouldn't have to force a love. seo in guk is doing so well. so charming :) i'm glad that she at least knows where she stands with him now. let the triangle begin!

also, i really think jin woo would be better off with the younger sister. she's very attentive and affectionate and i think that's the kind of person he needs in his life.

and yay for the 5surprise member. loving you in the show. keep up the great work. off to watch the next ep :D

I broke down and watched this episode, because I am a terrible shirker of duties and could not resist. Holy mother of pandas, it was good.

I don't have time to go on and on and on like I would love to, but I'm echoing what everyone has said about appreciating the care that the Savvy team puts into the details.

Even little things like the parallel between Soo-young caring for Jin-woo's shoes and Yoo-ah trying to care for Min-soek's skates are such elegant, understated ways of fleshing out the characters. In addition to showing that both sisters have nurturing tendencies, it also reveals so much about the male leads. We have Min-soek, who has one old pair of skates that he loves into the ground (and even puts his name on) because things aren't expendable to him. Then, we have Jin-woo, for whom things have no meaning or sentimental connection, who is willing to throw out a perfectly good shoe because it gets a little dirty.

Nice observation about the shoes, maybe it's a contrast in the realities between the rich and the poor. It also shows that family > wealth. Min-soek has lovely relationship with his family members, despite it's own flaws- as opposed to Yoon-So's lonely upbringing.

Yes I agree with you - it seems like the characters really exist, somewhere out there. I'm immersed in their world.

I really like the acting from practically all the cast members. Even the hockey coach. Even the guy sitting beside Tae Seok in the classroom (he's quite cute too, haha).

Initially I find Seo In Guk to be not very good-looking, just pleasant, but boy, he’s so charming in here! I’d rather have a not-so-good looking actor who can act very well and make me fall for his character than a gorgeous actor who’s acting is as stiff as (or stiffer than) a wood.

I'm glad that Soo Young gave Jin Woo a tongue lashing. He really needs a wake up call. And I hope he does.

Some of you commented that his harsh words were also brought about out of jealousy which I totally agree. He thought she liked him enough to betray Min Seok. A purely manipulative person with a pilfering information agenda will not have acted as he did...it's suicide/endgame. He's already emotionally attached to Soo Young but doesn't know it.

It's obvious he totally regrets it but just too proud and prideful to apologize or even admit he's wrong. Words spoken are hard to pull back. If Jin Woo wants to woo Soo Young again, boy...he will have a steep mountain to climb.

Nonetheless, his behaviour was deplorable. Someone reaally needs to show him how to love. He definitely has no proper role models so far. The director and writers have no right to add the shower scene and hot body peeking out from loosely worn robe to distract us. Not fair! My eyes refused to listen to me. They had minds of their own. Darn it...'bad, eyes...bad, eyes!' Almost made me forget his horribleness. :-P
