Oh Snap! Shim Eun-kyung is Nae-il (aka Nodame)

I have a (sinking?) feeling that KBS’s Cantabile Tomorrow is just going to release one or two character stills at a time, for days, weeks, until it finally premieres next month when we’ll all be fatigued over all the pre-show hype. But… on the other hand, what am I gonna do, NOT post the latest still from the drama finally showing us heroine Shim Eun-kyung in the lead role of Nae-il, aka the Korean Nodame? Psh, not bloody likely.
So here she is (see you in another day or two when the next character still comes out!):

Is it me or there isnt yet a nodame vibe in her smile?
It's hard to tell but there's something lacking in her smile that hasn't given me nodame-ish. But yeah it's just a still and she's very pretty indeed!

I totally agree @yayaya. The pic is lovely but it doesn't give off that quirky vibe but instead feels soft and sweet. Joo Won gets two, why only one from Shim? Maybe like @javabeans said, we'll get more in the days to come.

I agree. she's pretty and all, but I think nodame's character is pretty and perverse at the same time. I can't see it in shim eun-kyung...well at least, yet. in this still, she looks like a heroine from some melodrama with an overused plot.

That's because she seems too perfect in this picture. but we've seen her be not perfect in dramas before, so I totally have faith that she'll give us the "weird" we are used to from the manga, anime, and j-dorama.
By the way, I followed all 3 and am hoping I don't get my hopes shot down. X/

True. I'm hoping she'll really be able to pull off the quirky-ness in person when she actually acts it out. And why is she holding sheet music? Nodame's character just hates practicing and studying...

Yeah I think you hit it on the head that it looks perfect and clean. Had it been taken with a messy background or something more offbeat than this put together, I would've liked it better. It would've been a nice contrast to Joo Won's "perfect" looking stills and vibes.

THIS! That's what I expected from the stills at first. Your description matches mine well, and I also expected a quirky, whacky but honest, and pretty smile. But, let's just wait for her to act out instead. I know she can pull it off.

I too think that this still doesn't do Shim Eun Kyung any justice (in the quirkiness department) and doesn't pay any homage or whatsoever to the Nodame character. But I've seen her in movies before and I personally think that if there's any Korean actress who would make a good Nodame, it'd be her. There is simply nobody else. Hope I am right after all.

I actually think that this picture profile gives the air of a shoujo character - which is what Nodame is.
This one I have high expectations, but I'm sure she can deliver. She's an amazing actress. She's just so likeable.

I'm loving it. I'm getting the Nodame feels. Because under the messy and perverted nodame, she was a happy girl who wanted to be a kindergarten teacher who wrote songs about farting. I think the photo captures the innocence and hope we felt watching nodame.
I can't wait for this drama. I've haven't been able to follow a drama through this whole year. Hope this one doesn't break my heart.

It's a lovely picture but it's not very Nodame-like. Maybe I'm just too used to Nodame over the top antics sometimes that this pic gives me too much of a calm vibe.
I will watch this anyway for her.

Pretty picture.......maybe too pretty and not enough like Nodame (too clean!)
But I hope the drama is good and not another Boys Over Flowers please!

I just started watching the nodame cantabile and it's hilarious!! I fell in love with Nodame as soon as I saw her freaky run down the hallway after stealing her friend's food. Also, the male lead is so hot, goodness. I never know of these good asian dramas until there's a kdrama remake and people start praising it out of nowhere. I'm so dang behind. Anyway, I'm interested to see the kdrama interpretation, I can see it being much more subdued.

Just a recomendation seeing how you like Nodame Cantabile (I,II), you might also like Hotaru no Hikori (I,II).
I think it's even more hilarrious than Nodame.
I'm totally in love with Bucho ^_^.
Hope there's going to be Korean version too just because I want to see this story being told once again.

I'm being very optimistic about this remake. Nodama Cantabile has evoked so many different emotions in me with regards to its music and the relationship between Nodame and Chiaki.
If they can create a show that is based on its music and how Chiaki and Nodame helped each other, I consider it a success. No matter how ridiculous all the other characters end up.

Enough with the comparisons people - they're inevitable I know but are we going to go through the SAME thing every time something new about this show comes out? - it's going to get old real fast. There are going to be things done differently; after all, it's a different country, different director and different actors - doesn't mean its going to be terrible.

I sorta get the Nodame vibe from her, but this seems like Kuroki's version of her haha Like how she appeared all sweet and gentle when he first saw her in the manga lol
I think they're saving the best for last, maybe soon down the road we'll get a image of her being the crazy Nodame we know.

I'll be lurking on to OT when Nodame comes out to read what others have to say about the remake…I'm not brave enough to watch it without bracing myself with others' thoughts. I love Nodame-Chiaki so much it would feel "personal" if the remake is a horrible let-down.

ADORABLE! To be honest, I still wasn't feeling Joo Won when I saw his pictures but this is perfect and I feel like she nailed it already. I'll still remain open to Joo Won's performance though even though I don't think he looks the part. Hell, maybe he'll be a different beast all together. Who knows.
