Park Shin-hye headlines Pinocchio as reporter who can’t lie

Ah, so now we have the reason behind Pinocchio’s title — the drama features a heroine who can’t tell a lie. She’s a character who suffers from Pinocchio syndrome (I think it’s called different things, but they mean a condition where your body shows a physical sign whenever you lie), which makes her hiccup whenever she isn’t being honest.
That’s a pretty cute conundrum to put a drama character in, since I’m just imagining all the ways that could become embarrassing in the presence of a crush or an unpleasant boss. I don’t know how realistic the condition is, but coming from the producers of I Hear Your Voice, I’m prepared to just count it as a random mutant ability/curse anyway. It can’t possibly be weirder than hearing people’s inner thoughts, could it?
Park Shin-hye (Heirs) has now confirmed that she’ll be headlining, which isn’t a surprise; Lee Jong-seok (Doctor Stranger) is still considering, but I expect the confirmations for everyone else to start rolling in pretty soon. Lee Yubi (Gu Family Book) and Kim Young-kwang (Plus Nine Boys) are up to play the second leads, in what will likely be a rookie foursome much like the one in You’re All Surrounded.
The SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama from the writer-director team behind I Hear Your Voice will be a coming-of-age story featuring twentysomething cub reporters at the city news desk. They dive into an environment where every day is a battleground, and spend 24 hours a day together chasing the latest stories. It’s described as a drama about youth, love, failures, and growing up.
Park Shin-hye’s heroine chooses to be a reporter because of her inability to lie without a case of the hiccups. I don’t really know how useful that is for a career in journalism compared to the ability to detect other people’s lies, but we’ll go with it. Hopefully she’ll be a lively character with lots of spunk and winsome flaws to scrub that depressing Heirs girl from my brain.

Agree. Hope LJS would take this project. They both looked great in those photo shoots for Jambangee last year. A good ombination to watch. We love PSH and looking forward to this drama.

I am so very excited PSH has a new drama for her fans. I hope LJS would take the lead role cuz they looked so good in pics. Really love them. I want PSH to look more sexy and gorgeous in this drama. I like her latest look in W Korea. She looks so different, looks like she did a make over. PSH, I am for u.

I love and admire PSH as an actress. I was not very impressed with her character only in Heirs but I believe she has the potential as an actress. I look to her latest pro.ject. PSH, you can do it.

PSH is myl favorite since I watched YAB. I have followed all of dramas. I would like her to act with YSH again. She also mentioned in an interview this year. I think her combination with LJS would be ok. fighting.

I don't know if anyone is still here, but I recently stumbled upon an old family drama called Kimcheed Radish (aka Kimcheed Radish Cubes) - 깍두기.
I wasn't looking for a PSH drama, but she was in it. I won't say I recommend it, but if you want to see what she actually can do and don't mind having her whole story arc spoiled, skip to episode 42 and watch her first scene. She delivers a fierce, barely-in-control performance in a showdown with her "evil" mother in law. She breaks out a pair of Crazy Eyes that I never knew she had in her acting skill set, and she never goes into the histrionics that doom so many younger actresses.

I came t o know PSH through Miracle Cell no 7. Her acting is good. I admire her as an actress. I hope PSH would show a different side of her in this drama. PSH act your best to prove them wrong.

There are some roles Park Shin Hye was really good in! I find her movies to be a whole lot better though I wonder why that is!
With dramas I noticed writers like to write the script while it airs, and sometimes there are situations where they have to change the script immediately and film like.. (Heartstrings- Park SHin hye got into an accident) they had to change the script to accommodate the injuries she got and filming had to take a break for like a week..
So, in terms of dramas I think the reason is.. She doesn't have time to channel into her character very well; since the beginning is just the start, she is able to go into character and practice before the filming starts. Although when it does start the filming is continuous you don't do everything beforehand whereas movies you gotta film everything before you release it to the public.. so I wouldn't call her a bad actress it's just the writing and how the filming schedule is probably!

I am not for LJS picking this up. PSH has accepted. Thought she was fine but now feel she's boring. Reporter script sounds boring. SBS has been doing some bad jobs recently. Please, LJS, not this! Go for a TVN instead, it's been doing an amazing job.

I personally do not understand why you all are hating on her, if you hate her just don't watch. And for those who say her kissing is bad, I can also agree on that but you can't judge her based on her kissing, I find that just ridiculous. Don't just come here and post crap from Heirs, honestly if you hate her you don't need to make it public, just keep it to yourself. I'm not telling you to love her nor even like her. But I've gotta say that I like her as an actress and that's my own decision so I'll be looking forward to this drama.
