Hi there. How are you? Oh man this is gonna be longer than Ivoire´s posts, but brace yourself.
I am on vacation. Doesnt mean I am resting. Making that felted tapestry now and making my own year-end reviews. What worked out as planned, what were the highlights, what I can do better next time, that sort of thing, you know. Also fessing up all my mistakes, and admitting to ...stuff. well, ok, right now I am just killing time writing but HEY.

Now it is your turn. Just fess up ONE thing. But you better not try to wiggle out.

The question is: Who was your biggest, most serious, addictive and perhaps hopelessly silly CRUSH of the drama year 2014? From any gender, race, nationality, heck, it can be a musical instrument or any other prop. I won´t judge you - confess. Where are you trying to sneak off? Embarrassed much? Na-ka! *grabs the hoods* stay put and spill it. everything you say can be used ...um, somewhere.

anyway, since there are so many year end reviews, I wanted to add my own. and my year end review is themed...

The Fox Paw Print Trail of Dramas.
Going from the Most Paw Traces to the least.
Some soundtrack to each part of the review as well, like it is a custom on Dramabeans: listen to Elina Born – Mystery on Youtube. Will life ever bring a little more mystery for me? Is exactly what I am wondering about the next drama year. Home my review is not a miscalculation (find Elina Born - Miss Calculation next)

First of all, the "I refuse to believe ALL these paw prints are mine…“

High School King of Savvy. seriously, I think I might have worn some holes in it? What is that black spot? *rubs surface* nah, it´s a piece of choco pie. A special fox lick for the two troubled managers! *Lick, lick! Slurp!* Why dey run? I no gumiho…I no want them liver. I nice?

Witch´s Romance. Why are there green paw prints all over the floor? Oh, that´s right.... there´s Spinach. The award for the FOXIEST COUPLE, for sure, for Ban Lady and Arbeit. Can I hire Masters of Part Time to brush my fur, and take me for a walk, and play with me? Please? Dong Ha is so kind, that only he would take a job offer from a fox seriously. Everyone else would tell me to beat it or even set animal traps. But then I will tell on them to Ban Ji Yeon! Ha. HAA!

Liar Game. There are more paw prints on the liar than the game though. and...um... desperate bite marks on the suitcases of money. Do Young is one of us btw. He IS a fox, I tell you! He might be the king of cold hearted fox demons, to whome humans are a lower race. If he won´t come back for Season 2, I will go animal. I will rip everything to pieces and destroy the directors´ chair, chew their camera lenses into shapeless lumps and p....no, scrape that. But I WILL be a very pissed fox, and you dont want to see that. and no, I do not have a crush on a guy who claims to be a vicious dog, like all the rest of you. Dogs! *shrug* Eww! Foxes hate dogs, sorry. Even when they are good at math. But if...

Soundtrack: listen to Trad. Attack – Kuukene kullakene on Youtube. Or Curly Strings – Kauges külas („faraway village“….as in, Do Min Joon lives there, perhaps? No internet, no bankomats, as the song goes? Just grass?)

My Love From The Stars [And The E.T. Groupie] technically a 2013 drama for me so the paw prints are faint and covered by layers of critical acclaim, fan letters, CF offers and gossip, but there were lots. It looked like a crime scene. There were especially many paw prints on the door lock to Do Min Joon´s apartment, cause however many times they showed Song Yi entering the numbers and going in there, I STILL DON´T KNOW THE CODE! ah! *desperate scratching* CAUSE I HAVE TO GET INTO THAT LIBRARY! Ope-eeen Sesame! …1111? Nope. *scratch scratch.* *looks at the deep claw markings with indifference* what? I´ll say Song Yi´s mom did it. Or...aliens. Oh, oh: 100% subbed IN ESTONIAN btw! Who did that? Innnteresting…. *WHISPERING:* If they ask, you never saw me! *tries to teleport off* ….ummm… *sigh* this would have been so perfect for not leaving any traces. Damn.I guess I am not an alien.

Three Musketeers. Ugh, I wanted to leave NO traces, cause my dream is to be a super slick ninja fox and become part of that gang. But I got so into it and... and I even tried to play Bohemian Rhapsody on a gagayum, and now there are paw traces on that, and the clothes, and a horse, and a sword, and…shit. Historical temptations. I think someone like me would only get the musketeers in trouble. I am such a newbie. But please let me join? Why is a fox not eligeable? I can ride a horse….sort of. I can sit in the front…..and nod off, dreaming of intense action and swashbuckling. Why-hy no-oot??? Wahahaaa. I was born to be a hero, but the doctor forgot to announce it in public…

Mr. Back. This is so touching and cute. I love love love them and cling to their feet and don´t even walk on my own, but let myself be dragged all over the floor. They are cuter than fox puppies together. You know [warning, spoiler ahead for some!], today a colleague walked in on me just when I was watching the scene in the bath house with some male back scrubbing, and she pretty much came to the highly likely conclusion I was watching some sort of asian gay porn. which is very off the mark. but since there were my paw prints all over the screen.... well, it is culture, I explained. Naked men are obviously very cultural, I mean, didn´t the Olympic games once start with the... ekhmm.

also, there is a non-Korean drama with lots and lots of paw prints here - Full House Thailand. There are marks from a fox bouncing, squeeing and wiggling uncontrollably, especially at the scenes with Mike being SO cute with the adorable Grandma! I nearly bit off my paws from the adorableness of Granny! I think I need to clean it up though, they won´t like it. Quick, quick…clean the house. I ate all their food … and I used the computer. oh, quick! Erase marks…pheef. Done. You don´t think...

Less paw prints, but still a considerable amount … on some individuals
Soundtrack: find Karl-Erik Taukar - Seitsme Tuule Poole a.k.a. „into all 7 winds“, and some of these indeed were all over the place, while some others were irresistable, asi n Karl Erik Taukar – Vastupandamatu (=“irresistable“)

Trot Lovers. You san see the paw prints forming a pattern for a crazy dance routine. Hey. Fox. Trot. Foxtrot! Why isn´t this Foxtrot lovers? Huh?

Marriage, Not Dating- you can see my traces going round and round and round in circles, hesitating to approach cause marriage, you know. Just sat there building a wall between the drama and myself. Nothing interesting to me in weddings, marriage… But then I decided to leap over the wall anyway, and landed on Ki Tae´s comfortable couch. And I was too lazy to leave. I like this apartment. No! *puches the claws hard into the carpet* I like it! I want to stay here! Nice…place…with a fish tank… those are NOT my claw marks. It was Jang Mi, I swear! uh…well, they kicked me out, dogdammit. I´LL EAT THE KIMCHI! HEY!?

My Secret Hotel. not because it was that good. You know, when there is some accident on the street you happen to witness, and you say you are not one of THOSE people who go stand there and stare, but then you say you´ll just take one look to confirm it is not someone you care about, and then you go back next morning to see if they have cleaned it up. and you check out the articles while sitting in the cafeteria across the street, not cause you´re so curious, but cause you were there. obviously, lots of traces everywhere, and the fox might even be brought in for questioning as a witness or just cause I suspiciously hang around…which I wouldn´t mind, cause the detective was the best part of this mess and needs his own sitcom. and you might gossip, a little, and even enjoy saying how terrible it is and curse fate and feel good afterwords cause it didnt happen to YOU. but still, an accident.

Joseon Gunman. cause a ninja fox has to follow the footsteps of her Great Awesome Ninja Teacher, even if the Teachers´ path is questionable and you´re not sure if we need to go back THERE again. But you will not find my traces anywhere else here. It is a very narrow trail, following just one person. I did like the villain but I wouldn´t even go near him. Scary!

You Are All Surrounded. I am afraid to leave any traces there. They are way too good at sniffing out culprits. But I am not very good at covering my trail either… maybe if I pretend to be a copy machine, or hide in a locker? Or just sneak around while they are busy bickering? Ah, I am not so good at secret identity. Even Daegu was found out!

Modern Farmer. There were traces, but there are so many people in that village they trampled all over my delicate little paw prints. After all the trouble I went to making mysterious fox circles on that cabbage field to get famous like that guy who walks in snow, and after I get famous, I can...

I'm still "paused" on Secret Hotel at episode 10. I wish you were there being interviewed for being suspicious because....that show needed more mystery and intrigue!! Less love triangle melo, thanks. I have such regrets for that show. It's certainly not the worst show but I really thought it was going to be different based on the first few episodes (which I loved). I would still love a quirky murder mystery kdrama!

Oh ninja teacher....I adore you, in everything. I even enjoy your cheesy instagram photos where you wear hip hop clothing which is just so...well....not ninja-y.

scarce prints backing off quietly, cause there was a "Do Not Disturb!" sign on the door.
Soundtrack: search for Curly Strings – Kättemaks (which talks about double adultery and revenge. „Kättemaks = „Payback“)

Secret Love Affair, Valid Love, Surplus Princess… Well, for Valid Love I couldn´t resist and ignored the sign. wait, why are my feet stuck to the ground? Bad fox! Bad! Go away! Why can´t I move? If I stay here longer I…I… I can´t. I am stuck. Did someone put glue on the floor? Uh, my feet got stuck here. I swear, I would leave if I could. No, seriously! Heeelp. Now what?

So, Valid Love. Not many paw prints, cause I am just STUCK in one place, on that damn platform behind the window and I´ll be caught soon, but who wouldnt want to be caught by that gorgeous alien? I can´t stop staring. The actress is so great. In fact, all of the female characters are so perfect, in that they are unique and unconventional. I like the unni when she has these out-of-body experiences, and I like the mother-in-law, and the little sister. The ensemble of actresses almost as much asi n „8 Femmes“. I want to have a girls night / sleepover party with all of them, If they wanted a fox for a bestie. OMO. You know what? Ep 4 of VL, and then ep 6, the actress TOTALLY has an ACTUAL crush on Soo Hyuk and can´t hide it. Her cheeks are blushing! Go see yourself! It is totally like a paw print on the cheek! Awwiii!
Um, this show is interesting. On one hand, the husband is kind of a moron for ignoring his wife and seeing her as property not a person who has her own dreams and desires. Cause I find no blame in Il Ri wanting to escape from her trap of a life. On the other hand, Uhm Tae Woong plays the husband well in a conflicted manner, having him be totally aware when his acting like a jerk but unable not to do it anyway. That character crossed the line though. It is not like his wife actually slept with someone else, She was just seeking consolation and understanding. Being driven to extreme and your husband still doesn´t get the point, and acts like the main sufferer. Idiot, I am sorry. I guess he only understands fish, not people.

the "those DO seem like my paw prints, but I cannot remember ever being here..." category
Soundtrack: mmm, you can listen to Ewert and the Two Dragons – Pictures. Cause it was all just pretty pictures, not much more. At least office workers get home at six o´clock: Karl-Erik Taukar – Kell kuus

Cantabile Tomorrow. It should have left traces on ME just like the jdorama did. But it didn´t happen. Ah, what a shame.

Sly and Single Again - I know I saw it, but... I don´t recall anything specific.

Misaeng - when you walk around a strange neighborhood, very uncomfortable, totally lost, and you come upon your own traces and you know they won´t lead you to any better place than before, and you go in circles but you stay lost and later erase the experience as an error. I am really sorry. But you know, maybe I´ll come back some day. I came back to Arangs´ world this year, treading it with caution, then had a rather nice walk with the reaper. Arang, Misaeng, ang-eng, kinda similar, maybe...? BUT WHAT WAS I EVEN DOING THERE? I don´t belong in that neighborhood.

the "I wish I hadn´t stepped in here" category.

God´s gift. I wish I could erase that ending. I wish I could go back in time. Argggh.

My Lovable girl. Wandered aimlessly, leaving paw prints near and far. Went around and around looking for the plot. Got blisters on my toes, but couldnt find any. I want compensation and some band-aid.

well, enough of that. there are many dramas with no fox prints whatsoever. and some older dramas got so covered in traces you need an archaeologist to see what´s underneath. I think there might be Two Weeks and School 2013 buried somewhere in the layers of fox hair and relics and all sorts of sacred trash and favorite toys lying around in my nest. Not sure.

As to my crushes, I wish they lasted over 3 minutes. Funny to have that problem when I am not even a guy…. For both actors and actresses there were 3-4 of both this year that I would pick for my ninja gang. I think you´ll be able to follow my trail to all their next dramas. Hah, if I cannot join the musketeers, I´ll form my own gang, with Lee jun Ki as our teacher. As it appears, there is a growing demand on caped crusaders or „healers“ or whatnot. I even saw a Filipino female superhero somewhere… with one of those ridiculously revealing „armors“. I am just going to disguise as a fox. And we´ll never leave any traces behind. Or maybe we´ll just leave ONE paw print as a signature or something. And if we fail our mission, then… Demon Lord Do Young will trap us in an endless game of truth or dare.

That is it, finally! Sorry for taking so much of your time. Hope I wasn´t a total nuisance this year, and Happy New Year to you all! (of the goat. Why a goat. I mean I like goats but why not a fox? Why can I not have a year? I can share it with the hedgehog. Wait, what do you mean there is not „year of hedgehog“ either?) It is supposed to become a year of affairs, cheating, passion,...

I wish we´d see tense plots, diverse characters, strong casts, interesting, new, unusual locations (not just the office-elevator-ramyun shop/cafeteria triangle, seriously, locations are getting too unimaginative), smart endings and sharp sense of humor in dramas in 2015!

Ok, confession time. I can split votes right? They split the Daesang why could I not split my crush award???? :)

It's a tie! I can't pick just one! In order of appearance. The guy from Let's Eat. Kim Woo Bin in White Christmas. Joo Won in Cantabile. SIG and LSH in HSKS. Kang Haneul in Misaeng. That Healer guy wants to creep in too but it's a crowd already!

He is really fantastic in that show and his performance is so charming. I've been a little eh on him since he's personally said/done some things that rub me the wrong way, but I can totally see why people would find him swoon-worthy especially after that show. One of the best shows of the year for me actually.

(Does anyone know where I can watch White Christmas? Preferably some place legal? Thanks!)

Thanks for the very nice review! Who was your biggest CRUSH of the drama year 2014? hmm Can't think of any, but I squeeeeed on certain eps of shows like witch's romance, king of high school, Sly and Single Again and loved Jo Seung Woo from God's gift (so why he didn't get an award?).

Awesome review!! So many kdramas so little time. But to answer your very important question about crushes; mine changed so much throughout 2014 hahaha.

#1) Seo In Gook - good god he was so hot even as a high schooler and so caring and wonderful and he can sing and...ok stopping now.

#2) Sung Joon- holy moly, I only read the recaps and he was killin it in I Need Romance 3. I also watched him in Can We Get Married (great drama) and have residual feelings from Shut Up Flower Boy Band.

#3)Ji Chang Wook- *sigh* I tried and tried but he is too good to resist. I have some issues with the romance but I cant help loving Healer!!!! There! I said it!

#4) Song Mino - Not really associated with dramaland other than one drama that was kinda weird but you asked about crushes sooooo...He's an idol in the group Winner and I cant get enough of him lol. He's adorable, funny and hot. <3.

And....well...I like your whole list! I think Ji Chang Wook has pretty much killed this impromptu poll lol.

Hi, Redfox! This was fun to read. ^.^

I'll admit it -- my crush of 2014 is (I say is not was because I still have a pretty massive crush on him) Hongbin of VIXX. Also seen as Yoo Ji Ho in Glorious/FeelGood Day, but I only watched his cuts (mostly raw), not the whole show... Actually I have to say, this was very much VIXX's year for me, as a whole.

Wow, what an impressive entry this week!

I keep debating High School King of Savvy. On the in hand it has SIG and has gotten great beanie reviews, but on the other hand I'm bothered by romances with adults and high school age kids.

Crushes?! Oh boy. With crushes I'm going to bypass my big fangirling (Kang Ha Neul) since I think it's less of an attraction and more just massive respect....and....just one?!? How about two? I'm going with Ji Chang Wook and Park Hae Jin. I don't think I really need to explain? I'm dreading Ji Chang Wook's inevitable enlistment but at least Park Hae Jin may have some big roles coming his way this year.

um, think of it as he is not really a high schooler, if you approach it as an actor plays a high schooler who pretends to be an executive and is so convincing in both roles you start to think it is real and that´s why it bothers you. you get it? think "it is actually seo In gook, who is NOT a high schooler, but is totally cute playing one."

*may be spoilerily when it comes to Valid Love newest episode*

I'm with you with valid love. At first I do completely agree with the premise that yes…this woman certainly cheated. But when the husband hit her until she falls down, gah…I just can't. She didn't sleep with carpenter Kim!! She doesn't deserve that kind of harsh treatment. Granted, Il Ri didn't explain herself that she didn't sleep with mr. carpenter, and the husband's imagination has reached that point without help…but still, hitting your wife like that? I guess it's cultural difference too…I was brought up taught by my mom…"If your husband ever hit you, you walk away. He has no more respect for you, and it's not worth it."

That last episode made me cry, though…the conversation between Il Ri and her sis in law just ugh…hurts soooo goodddd!!!

*end of spoiler*

Crushes? Ji Chang Wook…most definitely.

so true! if a person hits you, it is the end. especially if he doesnt feel sorry for you after that but for himself.

why I like Carpenter Kim is he is holding himself back, and treats Il ri as a Person - a person named Il Ri - first, who wants to have confidence in herself and you know, a LIFE. after that actually does come "someone elses´wife" and THEN "a woman". I don´t see a sexual predator here, do you? they are honest with each other, while Il Ri is afraid to be honest with her husband. she was such an open spirit in high school, and look what has become of her. she is just trying to find herself again under the layers of What I Have To Be. Despite the crazy beginning this show contains some deep thoughts and well-put words.

but the women are still my favorite part. I bet The Power Of The Sisterhood of Women will succumb Patriarchy and Male Power.

0

I don't see a sexual predator either in Carpenter Kim. And yes, one of my favorite scenes of deep thoughts was the conversation btwn hoobae and husband when the husband was extremely drunk. The hoobae said "how brave" and said that in truth, most people like somebody else even as they're in a relationship with another person. But people just don't say it. And I can't believe she actually confessed how she herself wondered how she could wedge her way into this troublesome marriage. There are just really frank conversations that I think we all wonder, and I'm watching all of these being said and done. I mean look at me, I'm happily married and I have a crush on JCW..hahahaha!

Does it hurt your heart too every time MIL calls Il Ri, "Baby"? It does me. It's funny that I hope more that MIL miraculously can forgive Il Ri after she finds out what happen more than husband. I don't want Il Ri to go back to husband, I want her to find herself first…be the artist that she really is, go back and soar, have coffee with MIL and kiss your SIL as you talk with her about your days when you're about to go to sleep. Forget about husband, move on and love carpenter Kim. The end. :P

0

actually, about MIL: didn´t she notice Carpenter Kim and say he is pretty? we never know, MIL used to follow her husband and can tell when someone is cheating. maybe she already knows? maybe she is ALREADY doing research on how good a man Kim Joon is? we can expect her to just want what is best for "Baby". is what I think. and if Kim Joon is better for Baby than her own son, the wife-beater who is never there for her, then... I´ll just have faith in MIL. I WANT TO have faith in her.

0

It would be a very nice flip if MIL wants what is the best for Il Ri…but…the husband is her son. Would it be possible? In a kdrama? That would be the first time, I think. Oh…what a nice possibility it would be.

0

I just....don´t want to NOT have faith. I want to keep liking her. It would be a greater loss to me if she turns against them than IR not ending up with KJ. for real.
I mean, I just have a feeling she´ll really LIKE Carpenter Kim too, and that´s why she will not be able to deny IR her feelings. maybe there´ll be a serious talk between her and Il Ri, but ...I dunno

0

True. If a person hits you, that's the end. It shows he doesn't respect you as a person. I think there always was a inequality in the marriage. He was educated, older and richer. She was none of those.

I think she regretted marrying HT once she realized what her life had become. Not because she doesn't love him, but just because she got too much pain in return - from her mother-in-law's comments about her being the bad- luck-wife that cause HS to collapse. To having to take care of HS without much help from anyone. To having to put off having children because of all the things she has on her plate. It all added up I guess.

0

Yeah I think the fact that it's SIG is tipping me towards seeing it. And I know he's a lot older than the character but it bothers me that they'd promote that kind of relationship (I also have issues when there really is an age gap with a young actor like in high school - love on....I know they're supposed to be high schoolers, but they're not, and all those idol fangirls are sitting there going oh look a 23-year old can date a 14-year old and find her attractive, etc). Sorry, end of mini rant. The reviews and SIG are going to win in the end. SIG just has so much charm I can't help it....five minutes of him on the screen and I'm grinning like an idiot.

0

You have the same crushes as I do! :)
i pretty much /need/ to know news of Park Hae Jin's next project because it's between vampire scholar and college sunbae.

and if Ji Chang Wook goes into the military after Healer, he might just be doing a Song Joong Ki post Nice Guy, and keep legions of adoring fangirls counting down to the days he returns.

I never once saw SIG in that drama as a High School kid. That dude is a man so maybe that played a big part in me not really being bothered by the fact that the story was supposed to involve an under-aged kid and an adult woman. Secret Love Affair actually bothered me more since I find no excuse for someone to cheat. If you are any kind of decent human being, you break off your current relationship first before starting another one. Same with Discovery of Romance... Technically she wasn't cheating but having an ex that you still have feelings for hang around you when your current boyfriend does not approve seems a bit disrespectful and counts as cheating in my book.

I really fell for Han Groo, Kim Seul Gi and Yang Jin Sung this year.

My crushes for 2014:

Lee Soo Hyuk: After watching King of High School I fell madly for this guy. Too bad he's not in much. I sat through unsubbed episodes of "Style..." something something for him.

Sato Takeru: I'm not much of a Jdrama watcher, But i happened to read a review of Rurouni Kenshin and thought I'd check it out. Ohh... I fell so hard for this boy. Wondering where I can watch Rurouni Kenshin 3.

FT Island: After watching bride of the century I thought I'd check out their songs. OMG! They are soo goood! The songs are amazing but they are even better on stage. I can go on and on.

Another non-kdrama crush is Francois Arnaud. Sigh!

omg Lee Soo hyuk! I don´t exactly have a crush on him, but his facelines have just mesmerised me into dumbfounded stupor. I can´t believe a person like that CAN exist. it is more like...art appreaciation.

my non-kdrama crush is probably a singer in Estonia who was on the Your Face Sounds Familiar local show and pulled one surprising skill out of his sleeve after another, when I honestly thought he was a prettiboy without much talent before, now I have completely turned into an eager fan. just think: he can play the piano like Ray Charles, he plays the drums like Charlie Watts, he does comedy like Peter Sellers and yodles like , well, Julie Andrews... and high notes! And he has six-pack abs. And blue eyes. and so on and so on. I bet you are crushing by now.

The third Kenshin movie was kind of disappointing although Sato Takeru was as usual awesome in it (the other stuff that he acted in are not my thing to watch so I've had really few dramas to ogle him in sadly). The pace for the third movie was pretty uneven and I wish they had taken away all the minor characters because since they had traded off the back stories, it made the fight scenes between the minor characters pretty pointless. I really liked Ryunosuke Kamiki inthe second

Its why I lurk more than I ever used to...back when I still had a functioning laptop I remember commenting more...nowadays I would WANT to comment and then be all like...nope not gonna deal with that invisible hyperlink thing. Yeah I don't know how everyone else comments via their phones either. Half the time I'm switching to the desktop version on my mobile cos I'm so annoyed at the invisilinks.

After watching Lee Hong Ki in Modern Farmer - discovered FT Island (since November 2014).

Now i have a boat-load of songs from the band and individuals OSTs on my tablet. Even marathoned Bride of the Century 2 weeks ago. The boys are all so cute!

"Crushes" (mainly beautiful faces to spaz about) for this year - lots of them:

Seo In Guk - HSKS - he is just too cute! (even marathoned Reply 1997)

Lee Soo Hyuk - HSKS - arresting face (not classically handsome)!

Park Min Woo and Lee Hong Ki - Modern Farmers - cute young things!

Park Hyung Sik and Seo Kang Joon - What's happening to my family - another pair of cute, young things!

Ji Chang Wook - Healer - adorable manly face - handsome

Lee Pil Mo (my 'crush' since 4 years ago) - Emergency Couple - he gets better with age!

Kam Woo Sung - My Spring day - hot ajusshi

Choi Jin-hyuk (Emergency Couple, fated to love you) - cannot resist those smiling eyes and deep voice!

Park Seo Joon (Witch's Romance) - a heart breaker here!

Kam Woo Sung was fantastic in My Spring Day; made his character come totally alive! Lee Pil Mo, I'm enjoying him so much more in Pinocchio than in Emergency Couple. These "older" actors have much to offer Dramaland--hope to see much more of each of them.

7 of my 12 shows were cut this week, as well as SoompiTV not loading (at least in Alaska). Yikes!

Enjoying Healer, it's fast paced and fun. Pinocchio, also, great slate of actors. The Legendary Witch is good...the Ma family vs. Beom-Jo's mom (Pinocchio)...wonder which is worse.

Mr. Baek--didn't feel the romance between the leads **at all**. Just wasn't there. Supporting characters were much more fun and believable.

I caught the 1st episode of Pinocchio for Lee Pil Mo - but i am not much of a fan of PSY or LJS - don't know why. So dropped Pinocchio after that.

Strange - i never warmed up to PSH - first saw her in "Flower boys next door" in 2013. Saw her in Heirs for the first 2 episodes and dropped that one but am now marathoning "He is Beautiful" with her, LHK, JGS and YongHwa of CNBlue currently.

I am trying to find the 2007 weekend drama online which Lee Pil Mo was also in called "Golden Era of Daughter in Law" which also starred Kim Ji Hoon and Lee Soo Kyung. But so far no luck.

Oh yes! Sato Takeru is not only handsome but a wonderful actor. I am waiting for the US release of the last two DVD's. The fight scenes are amazing. I also have a huge crush on Miura Haruma. The question is: Who was your biggest, most serious, addictive and perhaps hopelessly silly CRUSH of the drama year 2014?

I had so many in 2013, but 2014 didn't yield them with the same intensity I guess? There was only one who really counted -

Lee Jin-wook, Three Musketeers: - he radiates this mix of intensity and humour and just crazy manly sexiness, it drives me a little nuts. Yeah, my one and only oppa is Lee jun-ki, but this man just does something to me.

(and yes, I love oppa and will always love him, especially when he wears sageuk garb and shoots things, and I did crush hard, but I crushed on Crown Prince more **bad fangirl, hangs head**)

And I have to admit to another crush Shin Sung-rok in Trot Lovers.

He's just so ridiculously quirky and charming and genuinely WEIRD, I had really bad second lead syndrome there and just wanted to take him for myself if she wasn't having him (did not help that he had better chemistry with him than with Ji Hyun-woo)

ohhh so true, I loved Geun Woo, he had me cracking up in like, 15 , no, 10, no - 8 seconds, and I would have basically loved if TL was a one-man-show like, y´know, mr. OH. This is so hard; I can’t possibly name just one. But if I had to. . . Jo seung-woo, Yoon shi-yoon (mainly because I rewatched Flower Boys Next Door, hahaha–Enrique-jjang!) and Han Groo. Argh, I watched so little this year, to be honest–I mainly just read the recaps, because I suppose I was a bit wary of giving attention to dramas that don’t deserve it. Also, reading recaps are more fun, especially reading the comments 

Wishing all beanies a Happy New Year! Hopefully in this one, my drama-watching interest will be renewed, but until then cheers!

I felt like Park Seo Joon gave so much warmth to this character. so I guess I was crushing a little. He was like a hearth where you can get warm. right after witch´s romance ended, I had a bad day at work where so many people said mean, insulting things, and were pissed at me for no reason and even threatened me. such a drop in emotion. and I just went home feeling so low and thing real life sucks. that passed, fortunately. but still.... why can´t there be more people like that in real life?

The question is: Who was your biggest, most serious, addictive and perhaps hopelessly silly CRUSH of the drama year 2014?

::cough:: Please don't look too closely. I'm sure it says nothing at all about my subconscious.

See, I've only been watching K-dramas for about a year, or a little over. And the first one I watched was Vampire Prosecutor, Season 2. And it was awesome, vampire-cop cheese, yes.

But then, there was this scene with a victim's son, and I suddenly thought Whoa. That young man is really good-looking. (I may or may not have rewound the short scene in order to stare longer. :cough:)

In fact, in the next episode, I found myself wishing that the actor playing the victim's son was the lead actor, because I really wanted to look at him some more.

And then, (spoiler ahoy!) we discover that lo and behold, the victim's "son" is actually the murderer! AND - surprise!!! - he's a vampire. A shirtless, soft-spoken, terrifying, amoral-but-oddly-sympathetic, blood-swigging bad boy vampire. (There may have been gasping. I can neither confirm nor deny.)

So then, of course, I had to find out his name, so I could track down his filmography, and watch everything else he'd been in (even the ones that I really didn't want to watch). Of course, now he's my favorite bad-guy character actor, with that baby face and a hard-as-granite stare. Disconcerting and mesmerizing at the same time.

And sooooooon, he will reprise a bad-boy vampire role and I will be very, very happy.

So, yeah. Bad-boy vampire with a baby-face. ::fans self:: (And yeah, he's young enough to be my son, and not in a creepy, child-bride kind of way, either. Shut uuuuuuup.)

Well,

My sis and I talk about dreamboat actors. Once she emailed me "We are a couple of dirty old women, aren't we?". But I've gotten past that. Have to as we age and still appreciate beauty. (And hey! I'm not related to them!)

I also can develop crushes because of the quality of their acting, their singing, their off-screen personalities, or just as a result of the characters as they develop.

So, yes... Shut up if you think I'm creepy! I'm just an art lover. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! And like I said, not only a story -- it's the truth. Have given up, for the most part, thinking "He could be my son." (and it's even approaching "grandson" now). Just can't go there.

Mostly I try not to think about it, though sometimes I get a look at their birthdate and think "Oh, that was the year I graduated from college, holy cow".

KHS was born the summer after I graduated from high school. And now I feel suuuuuuper-old.

Mostly I try not to think about it, though sometimes I get a look at their birthdate and think “Oh, that was the year I graduated from college, holy cow”.

I always look up the dates. I like being able to put an age to them, even simply from an acting perspective, like "Wow! He is really doing a great job of being a high school student -- and he's 26!". Or other aspects, like "I wonder if he's done his military service yet.". Just generally getting to know them.

I'll make you feel a little less old. I can put it in relation to when I went back to college (10 years after high school). Or that's the year my son was born. Eeek! Where did the time go?! But I hear ya... another instance when "geez, I'm suuuuuuper-old" kicks in. (The "year son was born" ends right there. After that it's just knowing the actor's age.")

Thanks for telling me Kwon Hyun Sang's name. Yes, I can see...a smoldering bad guy!

Yes, I can see…a smoldering bad guy!

I hope they put him in motorcycle boots & guyliner for this series, too. But he's supposed to be a boxer, so...here's looking forward to muscle-y punching of things. ;)

I always look up the dates.

I try to never look up dates. It's always depressing when I do (for example...Lee Sung Min? And Ahn Gil-Kang? Both of them are cutie-patooties, and I'm older than both of them. Granted, only by 3-4 years, but still. Ollllld.)

I don't watch very many dramas usually but usually when I do, the fangirling effect usually lasted awhile. For 2014, it all started with KSH in My Love From the Stars, then it jumped to Eric from Discovery of Romance. I admit that my crush on Eric comes and goes with his dramas. It lasted for couple of weeks until I moved on to the next one ** I feel so embarrassed admitting this considering that I'm a mother of a 2-year old girl, but hey ... he's pretty close to my age so I don't feel too inappropriate **

So this is becoming more embarrassing when I admit my current crush, which is Sota Fukushi!!! OMG ... I've been googling his video daily. So for anyone who reads manga, I love Sukitte Ii Na Yo and it was made into live action, which of course I have to see. And he's there!!! And he also recently starred in J-drama Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu. If that one is not a dream come true for a 30-year old females I don't know what is ... Can I have someone like him in my life!!!

Aughh ... back to work, I'm super embarrassed now ...

Happy New Year Beanies!!! I hope 2015 is off to a great start for everyone. I'm still enjoying Kang Ha Neul's singing at the SBS awards and....I'm back at work. Yesterday my friend hosted an annual feast and I am still so stuffed. But it was so yummy!!

Weekly drama thoughts (didn't get to watch much and still behind - thanks holidays!):

Detectives of Seonam High - I watched all three episodes this week. This is one if the weirdest shows I've seen lol. Clearly it's on purpose and the episodes are flying by. It's interesting though that they're tackling some pretty heavy subjects with such weird humor. Also laughed when the compared the "biting man" to Twilight and the weird ways girls were almost condoning it because he's cute.

Frost - Why am I caught up on this but not other shows? I don't know!! I keep hoping for more but I'm not getting it. I think maybe I've been spoiled by Sherlock. This show though seems to always reveal the answers to the audience before even Frost figures it out which really doesn't make him seem like a genius. Also their psychology is rather wonky.

Healer - I'm an episode behind!!! I will be watching tonight. I love this show way too much to watch at work. I'm really loving so many aspects of the show but especially the actors and how they interact.

Let's Eat - Slowly working through this and savoring every minute! On episode 11 now. I'm so annoyed with the season 2 announcements. It's not even that I am a big shipper of this couple but I hate when shows or movies build a whole arc and then through it away in a sequel. It takes away from the original and I won't let it do that. Yes, it's making me childish but I'm so annoyed!

Modern Farmer - And we've come to the end if the road!! I'm still a bit disappointed in the end. I think some things were forced and also a lot of story lines were dropped. However, as a whole, I have a lot of fond memories of this show. It was best when treated like an ensemble piece and the interactions between everyone were both hilarious and poignant. It was a nice bit if sunshine in the midst of a lineup of mostly dark and serious shows that I've been watching.

I need to play catch up with P&P and Pinocchio.

How fantastic was What's with this family! I loved, loved the club scene at the end where everybody in high school uniform danced the night away like no other. This show proved that you can have high ratings without making MakJang like JangBori. Next favorite scene? Healer got it. Ane then there is Pinocchio's kiss scene. squeeee~
I am thankful for dramagod. Last year it started(well kind of) bang with YFAS, and went out bang with Miseang.
And I think this year is not bad so far(lol). I enjoy Healer, Punch, Pinocchio, Pride and Prejudice, King's face, and What's with this family. And we have Kill me, heal me, Hyde, Jekyll and I, and Shine or Go Crazy coming. And when do they do Hwajeong again?
One concern I have is that with ever increasing number of dramas, more subbing could be delayed. Almost considering to help (despite of my pitiful English skills let alone having time and energy issue)
Happy New Year to everyone!

Happy OT and Happy New Year!

Guys, guys I've finally jumped onto the Healer train and damn this is a great ride ♥ I watched 5 of the 8 episodes and I am so in love! I have no idea why I didn't start it sooner xD But better late than never right? The music (OST+BGM) is also awesome so I'm a happy camper =) Now please just stay like that drama! Until the end, thank you very kamsa.

Mr Back final... Was kinda 'Big' all over again -.- I was so disappointed :( And then they ive us that epilogue with... No I refuse to believe that epilogue happened^^ And basically the second half of ep 16 bc it sucked!

Pinocchio was great though I forgot halfway through the ep that this will be the only one and after the preview I was a wee bit miffed about that^^

I'm really hoping that viki gets last minute licenses for Heart to Heart and Family is Coming though I'll be honest and say that I doubt they'll get it T_T

Running Man was very enjoyable an 1 Night 2 Days continues to rock my world! d

Otherwise I didn't get to watch much since... New Year + another family gathering with tons of food which basically sent me into a food coma :P I'm so done w/ eating^^ Thank god it's over now and I go back to a more normal eating schedule :D

And for once I'm not really pissed about episode cancellations bc I have to catch up w/ Healer and I watched some of the Year End shows (KBS Entertainment Awards were great!)

I really wanted to watch bc I like Yoo Ji Tae + Park Min Young and I finally wanted to watch something with Ji Chang Wook but then decided against it bc I want to keep my list small...Well I can screw that now with the upcoming dramas xD Though Healer is the only Mon-Tue drama I'm watching now.

I don't know. They had pretty much all Fri-Sat dramas from tvN except Gapdong if I remember correctly bc DF (?) had exclusive rights for that. My problem is that viki is the only legal site I can use because I'm a qualified contributor and have access to most dramas. Being located in Europe sucks big time when it comes to legally watching K-Drama T_T

Happy 2015, Beanies! I hope this year treats everyone well.

Current kdrama slate:

Misaeng: Still not over it. My Fridays feel so empty without it, but it ended perfectly. Even if the withdrawal symptoms (rooting through Im Shi-wan's and Lee Sung-min's filmographies, searching high and low for Byun Yo-han's movies) persist.

Pride & Prejudice: I love Choi Min-soo and I love his character. And I really appreciate how the drama is delving into one issue rooted in another.......but is it just me who feels like it's rather choppy? Like they don't know how to keep a serious legal procedural going alongside an OTP love line. It feels a little lecture-like, and even last week's fantastic kiss/makeout session was in a scene where it felt like the writers suddenly remembered "oh hey, these two were supposed to have a love line, let's give them a scene where they remember that".

(the actual kiss, though? WHOA. I'm especially admiring Baek Jin-hee for not holding back and actually making it look passionate....this is the second time after Triangle she's had a reciprocated kiss in her dramas. Good on her!)

Pinocchio: I missed hyung this week! (seriously, is he just going to languish behind bars for the rest of the show? I want Yoon Kyun-sang out and interacting with more people!) But I did like the developments, including Beom-jo finally dropping truth bombs everywhere - at Dal-po, at Yoo-rae, he didn't discriminate - and In-ha and Dal-po getting back together. That final kiss may have been fanservice, but it was swoony as hell.

(kinda hoping our female second lead gets more to do, though. What a waste of Lee Yubi so far, though I'm not mad since the rest of the drama keeps my interest and warm fuzzies)

(contd. with movie/jdrama thoughts)

What's With This Family: Nooo, adorable Dad, don't be a noble idiot and force your family to conceal your impending death! The secret is leaking out, and it's heartbreaking to see eldest sister struggle with the knowledge - Kim Hyun-joo is so good in this part, it's no joke. I don't know how this drama goes from funny/heartwarming to absolutely heartbreaking in a single episode, but it does. And I do like the trajectory Dal-bong is taking, and how openly affectionate he is to Seo-wool now (and it is amusing that his sister-in-law is jealous of that affection because her own husband is a cold fish. Yoon Park is kind of expressionless too, it doesn't help)

(I also like it much, MUCH better than the writer's last work, Gu Family Book. Maybe Kang Eun-kyung should just stay away from writing shoddy fantasy dramas from now)

Recently watched movies

Mourning Grave: I adore both Kang Haneul and Kim So-eun so had to catch this - it was totally worth it despite the fact that I had to turn my lights on at least three times because that was how scared I got. They're perfect in their roles, and have absolutely adorable chemistry (they both have it with all their costars in all their projects) and there's a bittersweetness to the romance that kind of elevates it a little over your average teen/horror flick.

The premise is very Arang & the Magistrate-esque (boy can see amnesiac ghost girl) but the story is totally different. And yeah, the twist is easy to guess but that doesn't make it any less sad :/

Roaring Currents: EPIC. I can certainly see why it was such a hit - it's visually flawless, and the battle/sea scenes are excellently planned. Choi Min-shik pretty much carries the show, as he's meant to - but it is mostly a one-man show, for the most part (ok, two-man, with Ryu Seung-ryung). I do feel like a little familiarity with Korean history would have helped, since I knew only the bare-bones details of what happened in history. And I can certainly see why Lee Soon-shin is a national hero even four hundred years later, if that was what he pulled off.

SPOILER - (I wish they'd explained the turtle ship part a little better - I get why they were so awesome, but I don't get how they managed to save one for the battle at the end).

Friend: Too many thoughts about this, but suffice it to say, I shed tears. A lot of tears. (also, Yoo Oh-sung a.k.a. Choi Won-shin of Joseon Gunman? Is a terrifyingly good actor. I don't know why he isn't given the recognition he deserves). It's brutal and violent, but there's something so heartfelt about it, I suspect a lot of people felt the same way I do.

Friend 2: This has Yoo Oh-sung AND Kim Woo-bin. There was no way I was not watching. It's an inter-generational bromance this time, and Woobie My Wuv may as well have been born for the part - I can't judge how good his Busan satori is, but he radiates both boyishness and menace in...

(ooops, too long! Sawwry!)

Friend 2: This has Yoo Oh-sung AND Kim Woo-bin. There was no way I was not watching. It's an inter-generational bromance this time, and Woobie My Wuv may as well have been born for the part - I can't judge how good his Busan satori is, but he radiates both boyishness and menace in equal doses.

Say I Love You: - J-movie this time, based on a manga I liked a lot - my fondness for the manga means I can't really judge whether it actually went by too fast (there are a LOT of story arcs from the manga featured here) but it was sweet and breezy, and the lead couple were adorable together. I did like the heroine's character arc and portrayal (wallflower with snark) and after years of asshole kdrama heroes, it's REALLY nice to see a teenage hero who is not a jerk to his girlfriend and a couple that actually talk to each other and doesn't wallow in hurt feelings/noble idiocy for too long. And I did love how they kept everything as close as possible to the manga, visually - from the character's looks to the high school feel of it.

Jdrama - Nobunaga Concerto - Fusion jidaigeki, and it's AWESOME, and not just because my eternal love Oguri Shun is in it (playing a time-travelling high schooler - though he looks nowhere near high school age). I love the blend of humour, history and drama, not to mention the gorgeous costumes.....but I'm only on episode 3, and have to pick it back up for the new year. I'm particularly enjoying Shibasaki Kou as Kichou-sama, Nobunaga's sharp-tongued wife.

I also watched Roaring Currents and if Sea Fog nearly made me faint, then this, I would put in a frame and pray in front of it. ICONIC.

It really is! My sole regret is having to watch it on a small screen, it would have been beyond amazing on the big screen.

(I felt the same way about the director's previous film, War of the Arrows - he has a gift for making movies that are epic in scale but tightly plotted, though Arrow was imo tighter)

Movies I've actually seen!!

Mourning Grave I saw purely for Kanf Ha Neul (although in liking Kim So Eun a lot lately too). I don't normally do horror but I actually found this not too scary for me. I agree the twist was no surprise...but I misy enjoyed this for the acting. I think KHN is one of the most natural feeling actors I've watched. Even in a horror film he felt believable.

Roaring Currents - Definitely epic!! I've missed big scale films like this, especially historical ones. I really enjoyed this film even though I felt No Min Woo was so out of place in it. My friend and I were the only non-Asians in the whole theater lol. It was her first Korean film and when we left she was so impressed that she asked if we could go to more Korean films...so wins all around on that one.

Honestly, I was surprised that it was supposed to be a 'twist', because it was pretty obvious. I liked it - kind of a bittersweet little tale (frankly, I'd love to see that character and his uncle get a series in which they solve mysteries and bust ghosts.)

Yeah, the plot was pretty simple. It did feel more like a character piece wrapped in a horror package. But I'm fine with that since Horror is not my thing, lol. (Thrillers yes, horror no....blood and gore, ick)

yeah, both KHN and Kim So-eun bring a very natural feel to their characters in Mourning Grave, which is impressive considering they spoke of having to limit their takes because the budget was so small lol. It's more sad than scary, imo, but there were some moments when I really felt like I couldn't just keep watching in the dark.

I'm so jealous of anyone who got to watch Roaring Currents in the theatre, it is one of those films whose full glory can only be experienced on a large screen. Those scenes with the twelve Joseon ships setting sail to go into battle, and then the scenes of the Japanese fleet cutting through the water......it really brings home the scale of what they achieved. And to think that this was an actual historical event!

I think I purposefully saw Mourning Grave during the day so I wouldn't have to worry about being freaked out. I had no idea that they had to limit their takes - interesting tidbit!

Yeah it's one of the benefits of living n NYC - occasional foreign films I want to see are shown on the big screen. It was definitely made to be seen that way. SO impressive.

In the last week Myasiantv.com has uploaded a few movies I've been waiting for, including some of the 2014 Dragon Awards winners, like Han Gong-joo.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I just want to say, Healer is rocking my world right now. So so so good! The way he looks at her, the story from the past, the ex-con ajusshis, everything. The only problem is I spent the last five days or so marathoning it to catch up, and now I have to wait...

As for Pinocchio (aka the only other show I'm currently watching): I'm sad we only got one episode this week, but I'll take it. Sorry for Yoo Rae, proud of Beom Jo, hurting for Chan Soo -- and I'm honestly not sure which made me happier: the reunion of our couple, or all the hugs between Chan Soo and Dal Po...

That's all for now, I think. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hey beanies!!! Happy New Year! I can't believe we get a clean slate so fast. But I am happy about new drama's and about new projects coming up. also this year brings me closer to graduating... (I'm 25 working on my BA, and I am anxious to go to the real world!) I hope all you beanies get clean slates and that y'all get what you need from 2015.

Drama wise, I missed my Pride and Prejudice this week, that show is hot and it makes my Mondays and Tuesdays, but I will chalk it to the cause losing these week's episodes. Pinocchio, I am mad a SBS for cancelling the double header, they should have done it so I could get my two hours!!! But the episode that aired was satisfying in it's own right.. I was happy that Dal Po saw the necklace and that the investigation on the Chan Soo accusation is going well. I can't wait for the weekend dramas to come this week, Birth of a Beauty is pretty interesting and Legendary Witch has me up in knots (there is 16 episodes left, and it's moving along, but not as fast I want it to.....) I'm skimming a few different weekend dramas (Rosey Lovers and What's with this family) But I'm not sitting down and watching the 50 episodes because the last time I did that (A hundred year legacy) it tuned out to be a total waste of time.....

We shall see what turns up!!! Oh, and before I forget, thank you to javabeans, girlfriday, gummimochi, and Headsno2 for bringing me a forum to discuss and talk about the things that obsess us... May you ladies have a fantastic recapping year!!!!

It's interesting that the 2 dramas that I currently follow (Pinocchio and Healer) ended with kisses this week!

Honestly, didn't expect that I would be so addicted to Healer, waiting for the next episode is really a torture. I've always liked Ji Chang-wook, first saw him years ago in Bachelor's Veg Store and I thought he's really really cute there. So glad that he's finally received more acknowledgement this year.

Besides that, I just finished TEN and now to TEN2. I know it's really late, but I like the series!

I also did not expect to get addicted to Healer! I thought first episodes were not that intense and captivating as Pinocchio, so I was just following, but episode 8 was totally perfect! I also did not expect that I would become more excited about next week's episode of Healer more than of Pinocchio)

happy new year to all :)

things I'm actually eating on my drama plate:
Dr Frost: watching it like a snack. something that I don't need, but good if I need something to chew on. And it's getting a bit meh in terms of taste.

Healer: ADDICTIVE CHOCOLATE LACED WITH SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO COME BACK FOR MORE. I crave it so bad it hurts. I need more of this. Eating it heals me ;)

things on my drama menu to try:
Kill Me Heal Me: Dish that comes with low expectations, but looks pretty...with weird elements...but still somehow working together...and somehow I find myself wanting to try it for how interesting it looks?

Hyde, Jekyll and I: Dish that comes with high expectations, but looks something that is typical of a high class restaurant and nothing really outstanding of yet...so I somehow find myself not as interested.

Punch: Need to try this with a side dish of jajangmyun :)

Spy: One element on the dish is very, very pretty. Just might be pretty enough to induce me to try it.

//side note, will 2015 be the revenge of the main broadcasters against cable? the headlining stars of the confirmed dramas definitely have huge star power to be honest...and I'm not too sure what cable has really lined up & whether they can fight a good fight.

It's funny that you mention "the revenge of the main broadcasters against cable" because, given how pissed I am at tvN right now (For: 1. Canceling season 2 of Three Musketeers, & 2. Making a season 2 of Let's Eat with (only *sob*) my favorite character...and the actress of my favorite character from Three Musketeers (talk about two birds, one stone, dudes), thus effectively ruining the 1st season I loved so much), the odds are actually in the Big 3's favor.

I'm enjoying most of the shows airing on main broadcasters right now, and downright LOVING one of them (HEALER, OHMAHHGAWD SO AWESOME). Also tentatively looking forward to some of the ones coming up (about as much as you described actually, for Kill Me, Heal me and Hyde, Jekyll, and I).

TvN, on the other hand, which brought me so many great dramas this year (including the ones it's bent on ruining), already has at least one drama that I KNOW I'll be boycotting (Let's Eat 2) and only one that has me excited so far (Hogu's Love).

That said, I still expect to enjoy a lot of what tvN has to offer. It's just that they aren't starting off the year on a great foot because it almost feels like they keep giving me presents...and then taking them away, which isn't very christmassy. And yes, I'm aware that I'm being much too harsh on them considering how much I love Misaeng, MnD etc. but I can't help it right now. I'm bitter, LOL.

"Canceling season 2 of Three Musketeers" - really, how could they with season one's cliffhanger and a suspended air jump of the one for all and all for one musketeers plus Dal Young? How could they? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, gah! So disappointed tvN...so very disappointed...you shouldn't have reminded me.

Hello everyone. Happy new year!

Is anyone watching Valid Love? I'm liking it right now but not sure if I'll continue to like it. It's very realistic, so I understand the characters, but I have no idea what the writer is trying to do here. I'm hoping there'd be someone else I can discuss this drama with.

Meawhile, I'm so addicted to healer! Episode 8 had me squeeling so much. I watched it Dec 31st night and I remember thinking, what a fantastic ending to 2014.

I was addicted to Pinocchio but it's slowed down a bit with me. I think the breakup angst was just so unnecessary.

Yeah I'm pretty sure 20 episodes was a bit too long for Pinocchio. It has slowed down a bit. The episode this week was pretty cute though and I seriously wish the breakup didn't last three (two and a half?) episodes because it was pretty meaningless. They still met all the time. He still couldn't help but care about her. And unfortunately the level of angst they projected wasn't the same as, say, Discovery of Romance (phewww Eric!) so it did seem a bit pointless to me. If they weren't so cute together I would have been more frustrated - lucky that this OTP is super adorable (together and apart!).

I feel like the Pinocchio breakup was never about them meeting up/not seeing each other, it was just about not dating and Dal-po feeling guilty about his brother/not having to hold back against In-ha's mother because they were dating.

That's a pretty compelling reason to break up, I mean he was punishing himself partially for hyung's sake but they work the same beat, there was no way they were ever going to avoid seeing each other or meeting.

Is discovery of romance good? I've been horribly busy most of this year, so I've been very selective with choosing my dramas. I'm worried that I've missed some good ones.

I really really liked Discovery of Romance and found it to be an ultimately rewarding watch, BUT I do understand (somewhat, LOL) the why's of the people who didn't enjoy it as much. The characters and their choices are hard to stomach at points, but, if you're like me, you'll fall for them anyway and the drama is one of the few that satisfied me in terms of having the characters deal with the consequences of these choices and coming out better people. It just had an attention to character that I really appreciated. Not to mention, it's fun and flirty!

I watched it entirely for the characters - Eric and Jung Yumi were sooooo good - but I agree that its not for everyone. Some people really didn't get it but I did think the choices they made were very relatable and very human. I could completely understand why everything happened the way it did. If you aren't sure whether you would like it I think you should give the first two episodes a shot and also perhaps flip through the recaps on DB (unless you don't like spoilers). I enjoyed it more than I thought possible (but mostly cos my heart was breaking for everyone involved).

Me!! I'm watching Valid Love. I'd loveee to discuss it with you, since I can't find any site really talking about it (maybe soompi, but I don't and have no interest in talking there for personal reasons).

This is probably the first drama where I just watch…I mean it's like watching how bad and real cheating can effect everyone. I cry in the last episode for that conversation btwen Il Ri and SIL…they love each other so much, don't they? And Il Ri is this loner with almost no friends :( it just breaks me. I laugh when the drunk carpenter Kim asked to husband "really? you're divorcing her? So I can really start seeing her?" Yeah…no wonder you got beat up…I don't condone violence, but I think any husband would react that way. Don't take me wrong, I like carpenter Kim and all the mystery feeling surrounding him…but that comment though funny is completely over the line.

I hate when the husband hit Il Ri and then pushed her away causing all the food to be on the floor. Yes, she made a mistake…but she DIDN'T sleep with mr. carpenter!! ugh… I love Il Ri's sister and her protective streak. My heart hurts as MIL calls Il Ri "baby" yet the marriage is breaking apart…I just love this drama. It's the first thing I watch in the beginning of the week. Where is it going? No idea…but I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride of characters exploration...
