Shin Mina, So Ji-sub sign on to rom-com drama Oh My God

Whoa, this drama came out of nowhere and somehow it’s managed to secure two big stars to headline, So Ji-sub (Master’s Sun) and Shin Mina (Arang and the Magistrate). I dunno how KBS pulled it off but I’m assuming there has to be a cracking story or script that lured the stars in, because the description alone is puzzlingly random.
The drama is titled Oh My God and features the two stars as childhood acquaintances, who meet again as adults. They for some reason embark on a diet challenge and end up falling in love in this romantic comedy “about finding love and health.”
I have no idea why gorgeous beings like So Ji-sub and Shin Mina are in need of a diet challenge to begin with, unless KBS is trying to scoop MBC (with She Was Pretty) in the ugly-turns-pretty-plotline category. Did everyone just get the memo that 200 Pound Beauty was a hit, nine years late to the game?
The drama is looking at a Monday-Tuesday slot on KBS, although the broadcaster explained that while the actors are confirmed, the show doesn’t have a timeslot yet. Although with these two actors confirmed, what’s the holdup, KBS?
In any case, I’ll be honest, I might not even need a plot to watch Shin Mina and So Ji-sub meet-cuting, bickering, and frolicking together in romantic bliss together. C’mon, it’s not like they’re even new to frolicking! I present, for your viewing pleasure, Exhibits A through OMG.

theyre seriously both such beautiful human beings.... how is a drama going to convince me that they need to start a diet, exactly? i mean, I'm sure all actresses and actors watch what they eat to maintain their looks but... idk. it's an interesting (for lack of a better word) premise.

Not sure about the writer but I read that the producer is the one that produced the soon to be finished "My Love Eun Dong" on JTBC with Jo Ji Mo and Kim Sarang: a very deep, realistic love story...

The writer named Kim Eun Ji ((김은지)) and is a newbie. Her only work i can find is a special drama on KBS2 , titled "The Reasons I Get Married". It is available on Youtube with engsub.

The plot doesn't even have to be interesting. I would tune in week in week out just to stare at their faces. They were so cute together in the Giordano ads! It would take a really horrible production team to suck out the explosive chemistry both SMA and SJS had in their past CF.

This is the BEST NEWS today!!! Can't believe this is happening! But with their oozing chemistry since the Giordano ads, who could pass up this lovely couple for a drama?? Whether the plot is great or not, they've surely piqued the interest of many :D Can't waitttttt!!!

KBS definitely have big budget here.. Securing SJK-SHK and now SJS-SMA..
Definitely watching it, no matter what the plot.. For all I care, they could just sitting in a room, chatting, doing nothing and I would still find them amusing..

OMG. I'm definitely going to watch this! I hoped it was Gong Hyo Jin though, yes, A Master's Sun Reunion would have been Daebak. But since it's Shin Mina, I'm fine with it since I love her like I love GHJ.

WOW What a lovely pair!
I just finished watching 'My Girlfriend is a Gumiho' with Shin Min A yesterday and found her to be funny and absolutely beautiful to watch. 'Master sun' was going to be next for Jo In Sub (and Seo In Guk but i am filling my fix watching 'I remember you' currently).

To all the posters above who claim that they'll watch it for these two wonderful actors and not the script. I'd say, think again since it's the writer woes currently plaguing Time We Were Not In Love that is making it highly unwatchable despite having actors who're great but the script is majorly letting them down.

I agree with you. I like the idea of Shin Mina and So Ji Sub together in a drama, but writing and directing also play a part. I'm not sure any amount of acting can overcome unlikeable characters, senseless plots or a downpour of lame dialogues. So let's hope for a good drama on par with these two actors and their chemistry.

Yeah, agreed. The amount of who-cares-about-the-plot comments saddens me. Especially in light of recent examples like Warm&Cozy, Hyde, Jekyll, Me, Masked Prosecutor or The Time I've Loved You, who all had/have solid actors doing substandard dramas.

I understood the title of the drama completely - OH MY GOD! is the first reaction everyone has to this casting! I agree, who cares about the plot with these two lovelies together?! The man and woman going on a diet and falling in love thing sounds like the Sammi Cheng and Andy Lau movie "Love on a Diet"! If you guys haven't watched it yet i highly recommend it! Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng both wore fat suits for the movie.

Agreed. Sammi Cheng is super fabulous, and she's the hottest HK actress for me. She was born for the camera. I mean in whatever pose she creates, she turns into priceless art. She is THE BOMB, seriously. Sammi Cheng is super duper HOT. That movie is so cute. And if I want to delight myself into cuteness, Love On A Diet is the key.
In any case, this drama is so lucky to have signed Shin Mina on. How did dramaland ever make it possible? Shin Mina, the actual Shin Mina, in a drama? Are you kidding? Ha. Props to the one who secured Shin Mina. This is going to be great.
