Lee Jong-seok courted for medical drama Beautiful Mind

Apparently dramaland is hellbent on resuscitating Dr. Frankenstein — the drama about a geeeeeenius doctor with a split-personality (though the details of his actual condition are vague, which we’ll get to). It was once courting Kim Soo-hyun to star, then later Yoo Ah-in, but kept getting delayed on KBS’s schedule. It’s looking to make a comeback with a new name, Beautiful Mind, and a new face in Lee Jong-seok (Pinocchio, Doctor Stranger).

The series comes from writer Kim Tae-hee of Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and will be produced by the company behind Records of a Night Watchman and Sungkyunkwan Scandal. It’s about a genius neurosurgeon (because yunno, a regular neurosurgeon isn’t smart enough) who has a frontal lobe lesion that keeps him from feeling emotions. Wait, are we giving our drama heroes medical excuses to be assy now?

They’re calling him a character with a split-personality, but now that we know about his medical condition, I think it might be a general reference to his multiple sides, and perhaps not literally a case of dissociative identity disorder. I know I’ve had my fill of multiple personalities in dramaland, so I’d prefer not to go there if at all possible.

The doc is described as handsome and extraordinarily skilled, with a cold personality. Because of his inability to feel feelings, he’s a lonely and dangerous character. Lee Jong-seok is considering the offer as one of many possible projects, and KBS is still undecided about what timeslot it’ll get. I dunno, I adore Lee Jong-seok and always want him back on my TV, but a retread of his Doctor Stranger character with less emotion? At least there are no spies in this one, right? RIGHT?

It sounds like a mix of three male leads from Doctor Stranger, Kill Me Heal Me and Girl Who Sees Smell. Genius doctor, split personalities and inability to feel.

But, this drama sounds interesting! But I wonder why it takes so along to confirm the cast and it is still do and has not even secure the timeslot. KBS, really? I also don't know, man.

This sounds like a mix of hyde jekyll me, doctor stranger, good doctor, and Blood.

As long as it doesnt go down DS route and doesnt cast pathetic casts for female lead I am fine. I kinda want Park Bo Young to be his partner haha

Park Bo Young needs to do a second project with Song Joong Ki first before se does one with Jong Suk.

(and please do it before the media finds them dating or something because if that happens they will never be able to work together in an acting project......just like my hopes of seeing Kim Woo Bin and Shin Min Ah as otp was ruined when news of them dating came out)

Agree.

Plus, gotta wonder by Kim Soo-hyun turned it down. Not that every drama Kim Soo-hyun does is amazing, but I feel he's got a better nose for choosing projects or, at least, roles. With Lee Jong-Seok, I don't think he'd want another disaster like Doctor Stranger was.

You'd need an amazing writer-director team for this to turn out well but with overdone ideas like "genius" and "split personalities" being thrown around I'm not convinced this will be good or do anything new.

I think Lee Jong-Seok better be really, really wary of this project.

@alua I actually think LJS's success is mostly due in part to smart project choices. Even if Dr. Stranger was a mess, it was an entertaining mess. He picked roles that really suited him, and all of his characters became very memorable. I do hope though, that he does not pick this drama: Doctors and multiple personalities are a big no no at this point!

@alua - yeah but that's our personal opinions. Concensus in Korea was that he was pretty much single-handedly carrying the weight of that mess and kept it somewhat watchable despite the flaws of its script and leading lady.

0

Of course.

But I choose the dramas I watch based on my personal opinions. Some actors are very good at choosing projects, I'll always watch their staff (I don't even need a synopsis!). LJS is hit or miss for me. Loved him in School 2013 and I Hear Your Voice but dropped or didn't care for his other dramas. Here, I see ingredients I'm tired of (genius doctor, split personalities), so LJS isn't enough to sell this drama to me. But if he does it, I wish him the best. :-)

No i hope he can join with Moon Chae Won in Goodbye Mr. black.
I only love Kill me heal me so DID title is not amazing now.

I am happy he will take this drama because I am not planning to watch it. I really can't take him seriously in any drama, what is so special about him? His face is pretty ugly , his nose job is too obvious its distracting and he is not the best actor out there...I really don't get his popularity. 0

I don't understand the saying he looks too young to be a doctor....I don't know korean medical schools but I know a few classmates from school who passed their basic med school by 22 and then M.D. and residency by the age of 24-25.....

ok they look like shit sometimes from all the late nights but they are still young! and qualified as doctors. ...maybe not as leading surgeons though. They need experience for that.

0

Beauty is subjective. I find Lee Jun Ki good looking too, but I have seen comments in which there are some people who do not find him attractive. Different opinions.

0

@jelia

Yeah and I actually remember that Lee Junki's looks used to get shit on when he was in his 20s because he wasn't deemed as handsome or as masculine as the other leading guys but he was obviously still loved as an actor, kinda like what Jongsuk's going through now.

0

lol I have thought he was the most beautiful human being alive ever since I set eyes on him, but it's as soapbox says - he used to get shit on a LOT in his 20s for his flower boy looks, people said he wasn't a 'real man', must be gay (as an insult) etc etc.

but yeah, most people agree that Lee Jun-ki is gorgeous, even if not all of us do. Shin Mina was possibly his only leading lady who could match him for sheer ethereal beauty, really.

0

Jun-ki is not real, we are all dreaming.

0

@pogo
I respect other people's opinion. As for my opinion, I don't think Lee Jun Ki is gorgeous but I still think he's a good looking guy. Some people think shin min ah is pretty and some people don't think she's pretty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

0

@nicole - please note, I said most, not all people. If your opinion is different, I didn't negate it.

0

You're right! Too young to be a surgeon. It takes more than a decade for anyone with an IQ beyond average to perform in OR properly. They should make him a clinical specialist instead...not that it would be more plausible but it could be less outrageous.

I agree. He acts slightly better than Woobin ( I really want to see Woobin doing romantic, he hasn't done it yet. At least not as first male lead, he lost to the mighty Kim Tan -__-). I agree, Woobin had really good chemistry with PSH in Heirs and he was stealing every scene he had with LMH.......so in a way, he wins. I dislike Heirs but it made me want to see him in a romance story, someone like Kang Sora or Lee Yubi would be a good match.

If you're honestly asking why then I'll give you an honest answer. I do think Jongsuk's a talented actor, I don't think he's the best or anything but his talent lies in his ability to make a character a believable human being instead of just a character. I'm sure we've all noticed that kdrama actors/actresses are quite mechanical and more often than not you can tell that they're just acting... even the great actors can feel mechanical. Jongsuk obviously has his flaws but hand-in-hand with those flaws are interesting quirks that pumps flesh and blood into that role. I'm actually worried that once he becomes a more polished actor that those quirks will go away. It's kinda like how I love Gong Hyojin but admittedly she plays all her characters the same way, the reason why she's so loved is because she makes her characters feel human too, she has her own set of quirks and that has become a signature for her.

tldr; Basically I like actors that portray things more naturally instead of theatrically.

im surprised ljs gets this much flack when contemperaries of his age group are so much more lacking. wasnt he the youngest actor to receive a baeksang arts award for highest achievment in acting, when only well seasoned actors 10+ years in their career reveive it ? feels like he gets a lot of jealous hate from fans of his ex co stars for absurd reasons. Never heard any actual critics complain about his lack of acting. He pulls off his roles better than the actors he's being compared too, botched nose job or not. And good looks aren't what makes it for you in a role, even an average looking lead can exceed expectations if he's got the talent, like in the case of Joo Won.

I personally have never found any compelling chemistry between Lee Jun Kin and his co stars, and that's not even strictly his female leads. Whereas Seo In Guk and Lee Jong Suk manage to bring sparks with even the make actors in their shows. That's not to say jun ki isn't a talented actor, but just goes to show 'different strokes for different folks...'

As much as I love Woo Bin, I'm gonna have to say that Jong Suk's the better actor and by a pretty big margin. Woo Bins got the charisma that can make him a movie star, but Jon Suk's got more screen presence and acting versatility. He managed to have chemistry with Lee Bo Young, who's 15 years his senior, and made the pairing shipable despite the age difference. I don't buy for a moment that Woo Bin would have been able to act out a Park Suha, Choi Dal Po or even Go Namsoon.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Totally agree with this. i'm a huge fan of Woo Bin but he's riding quite a bit on his physicality. He's really charismatic because of his tall and fit body and deep voice. A lot of why he was so completely hilarious in Twenty for example is because he's that tall hot guy doing it.

Jong Suk definitely has room for improvement, there are moments where you feel like you're watching the same guy who was in the last thing you saw him in. But he shows improvement with each project and he's quite ahead of a lot of the other guys his age. And you know if you see him in a romance the pairing will always work bc he'll make it work. And personally I find him cute too. I like tall, cute and skinny guys more than handsome guys like Seo In Guk and Yoo Ah In.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

Plastic surgery or not, he acts leaps and bounds better than contemporaries his age who are doing movies one after the other and relying on their looks to do the work for them, at least with this guy you sense that there's a level of dedication going into each character he plays. He lost so much weight to play the part of a Nort Korean surgeon in Doctor Stranger, that show was all over the place but his acting was always consistent.

I for one don't find Lee Jun Ki the slightest bit attractive, he's not hideously disfigured but I just don't see it with the guy. It just goes to show that it all depends on the character you play, actors like Edward Norton and Johnny Depp don't have the standard leading man looks but they are some of the most talented guys there are

This drama already makes no sense judging by the tidbits posted at DB previously and now. So there's a problem in his frontal lobe so he can't feel emotions, but apparently he has some type of split personality and hides his emotions, but also once he falls in love all that changes... because love can heal the lesion in the frontal lobe amirite...?

Seolhyun is not as bad as Suzy but she lacks acting skill and charisma especially when you see her next to Yeo Jin Gu. These girls are just not fit for leading roles especially when there are so many talented actresses who would be better. Even kids like Kim Sae Ron or Kim Yoo Jung are better than them.

0

Exactly! Even the child actresses can do better than those adult actresses who constantly get criticized for really bad acting but still get offered leading roles.
I hate it esp. when fans give lame excuses like "she's only in her 20s or she's just a rookie"...It does not excuse their bad acting. Go sung hee should not be considered a rookie anymore because has been around for 2 years and already stunk up 3 dramas. I dropped Spy because of her lousy lackluster acting. I could not finish the new OCN drama My Beautiful Bride because her acting is sooooooo bland as hell. She is absolutely horrendous in Night Watchman Journal too. I don't blame people who said she's the worst actress.

0

@Darcy - exactly! There are kids 16 and under doing better and starting to move into lead roles in their own right like Kim So-hyun.......and the current generation of child actors/actresses in Korea would crush any idol in terms of both name recognition and talent.

It's not even as if idol dramas do great at ratings either, Orange Marmalade was clocking 3-ish percent. On KBS.

I don't mind seeing an otherwise talented actress work out the kinks in their acting styles through practice, but I'm done with the constant excuses being doled out by talentless idol-actor/talentless actor stans as to why their faves should keep booking major leading roles while showing no acting ability and no apparent enthusiasm for acting beyond using it as a source of CFs.

0

@Darcy

I had try hard to ignore her in my "Beautiful Bride" because there were so many things that I love about that drama. I prefer Lee El acting in this drama than both lead actresses.

I hope you'll go back and finish it because that is the best or one of the best drama of the year imo.

0

@Kiara
I started watching My Beautiful Bride because of the main female lead Lee Si Young. Not just me, but some people dropped My Beautiful Bride (even though it's a very good drama) because Go Sung Hee is sooooooo bad. It reminds me of Bridal Mask. That is a great drama and became a big hit but some people dropped it because of Jin Se Yeon.

0

@pogo
Not just idol actors and idol actresses, but also there's a whole pack of regular actresses who are very bad at acting but still get major leading roles. Despite having No talent, they still get offered to be in good dramas and have good male lead partners. These girls really do not deserve it. I agree with the people on Facebook and Twitter who said Go Sung Hee and Jin Se Yeon are the Worst among all the bad actresses.

0

@Darcy - I thought the drama casting industry was finally starting to see how idiotic they were to hand people like Go Sung-hee and Jin Se-yeon prime time lead roles they so obviously lack the talent to play......

and for the most part 2015 was actually doing well in terms of letting younger actresses with talent start moving into lead roles - Baek Jin-hee, Go Ah-sung, Kang Sora, Kim So-hyun, Lee Yubi, Park Bo-young, they've all done well in their dramas even when the drama writers did them an active disservice.

0

@pogo
I agree, but I'm still frustrated that those actresses you mentioned got stuck in supporting roles for a long time and it took such a long time for directors to finally give them the female leading roles. On the contrary, the most horrible actresses like JSY and GSH easily get leading roles handed to them. These 2 actresses esp. GSH are soooooo wooden that they fit the criteria to be the Korean Kristen Stewart.

0

@Darcy - I agree, it really frustrates me that after a performance like Gu Family Book, Lee Yubi wasn't immediately snapped up for leading lady roles. Or that Baek Jin-hee had to play second lead to the far inferior Uee in Jeon Woo-chi and only broke out after playing a villain role in Empress Ki. Or that Kang Sora was relegated to second lead against Jin Se-yeon in Dr Stranger despite being far more talented and having more public recognition (talk about a travesty).

You can take some small comfort in the fact that Go Sung-hee and Jin Se-yeon have been demoted to cable supporting roles and web dramas now. GSH was the worst part of My Beautiful Bride, I could have loved that drama if it wasn't for the fact that her acting made me cringe.

0

@pogo,
Go sung Hee's acting is really bad in My Beautiful Bride. she ruined that drama and made me cringe A LOT. Such a killjoy every time she comes on screen. Lee Si Young's fans are mad that leading actress LSY got less screen time than a woefully incompetent terrible actress like Go sung-hee. i agree with @Darcy - GSH is the korean version of Kristen Stewart.

0

@pogo
The entertainment industry has the shady and corruptive side with lots of unfair treatment. I'm glad JSY and GSH got demoted down to roles in cable and web dramas though.
I hope Lee Jong Suk ends up with a good female lead partner.

There are some idol actors and idol actresses who are still bad, but I inadvertently warmed up to Yunho and Changmin. I am watching the sageuk drama "Scholar Who Walks the Night". Changmin is doing a good job playing the crown prince. Yunho is doing a good job as the main leading actor of the new rom-com drama "I Order You"...from the good eye acting to different facial expressions to the natural crying.

Park Bo-young is one of the few actors that I love with natural acting talents. It's a beautiful thing to watch an actor transform herself into into her character without much effort, like the role was written especially for her in mind.

I didn't mean to compare that's why I changed my comment. I have been following Bo-young's movies for a while so I've seen more of her work than Lee Jong-seok.

" And he’s her senior by a lot when it comes to acting experience.." So not true.
Lee Jong-seok maybe her senior but Bo-young has been around longer and have done more projects especially in the movie industry than Lee Jong-seok.
Being a young movie actor like Bo-young has it's advantage as far as growing as an actor. She gets to work with some of the best writers/directors/senior actors etc that dramaland lacks. She is natural and it's just a matter of fine tuning and having the best in the industry helping her along. I've seen her grow a lot and have done better with each new project.

There are some actors that I just don't connect with and Lee Jong-seok is one of them. I know that he's going to make it big like Jo-won, Lee Seung-gi etc but I'm just not into them.

By senior I meant older in age.

0

I feel like Jong Suk works amazing with a ensemble cast where he manages to command attention in all his scenes and Bo Young better acting out scenes where it's just her emoting like Young Bloods. Jong Suk's probably acted in more things and yeah age wise he's her senior but Boyungs done more movies and has been acting 5 years longer than he has. I don't see how people can compare the two, Bo Youngs worked with lots of bad actors, and Jong Suk is nothing short of amazing so I don't see the problem in them co starring together when they already have one successful movie together under their belts

Its strange how emotionless I'm towards this drama and the potential cast of Lee Jong Suk. I haven't seen Dr. Stranger yet but from what I've seen of LSJ's so far I liked him more in I Hear your voice. He should go for a light comedy or a rom-com

You mean Saver? People are speculating that production company was conned by Jongsuk's identity theft case. Some fraud went around saying that he was Jongsuk's new management and got big investments from people, the media reported that one of the conned was a production company that shelled out a lot money thinking that they were booking Jongsuk and even started preparing for the big budget drama after the "booking". Regardless of everything, I hope that drama gets made successfully even if it's without Jongsuk's involvement since the writer has been working on it since 2009, I feel so bad :(

KBS did pull out "I'm Home Alone" from the September Monday-Tuesday slot and tried to replace it with 36-episode melo "Blooming in Tears." but that got scuttled too, so they attempted to shoo in "Oh My God," when it was slated to follow in February. Of course, there's no way that's happening.

Hence, it's likely we'll get this turd.

I really thought I won't hear of this drama again. There has to be a reason why two awesome actors declined it and why it's been sitting in the shelves for long stretches. Seriously, medical reasoning to justify a genius doctor's asshole/jerky personality? Lol, that's height of ridiculousness.

But honestly, if Lee Jong-suk is looking to make a comeback in dtamaland, then I'd rather he does take this one. Because I don't plan to watch it.

I can already tell you episode one. A genius unfeeling young neurosurgeon walks down a dark street. Suddenly, a truck, whose driver is wearing a bird flu mask, comes careening down the road. A young girl, seeing that the doctor will get run over grabs him and throws him out of the way. (Trope on it's head) but in the process, she gets hit--and dies. His colleagues--I was going to write friends, but he doesn't have any--ask, "why didn't you save her? You're a neurosurgeon and a genius! You could have grabbed some duct tape, old gum, & a shoe lace and saved her life!" "Why should I do that?" he flippantly asks. Thereby letting everyone watching know he's a total jerk. The dead girl's sister vows revenge, but in episode 5 falls in love with one of his other personalities. One of his personalities gets amnesia in episode 10. And the whole country is saved by him in 16 when he has a change of heart. (The End.)

It's an absolute nonsense even from the first description. “It’s about a genius neurosurgeon who has a frontal lobe lesion that keeps him from feeling emotions.”
Dear writers, don't you think he'd be in hospital right now, under supervision of an old clinical neurologist? And don't you think going to residency won't require a general health check? Can't you google Phineas Gage to find how frontal lobe lesion affects a person (ok it depends on the degree but you got my point)? And don't you know brain cells' ability to regenerate is close to zero? Oh yeah, because this is k-drama and a true love from an ordinary woman you always pick up because she's too noisy can cure everything.

well, the writers clearly don't know how the human brain is supposed to work.....but to be fair, that is obvious from the average public broadcast kdrama.

@pogo - Hi,

Si Sung has set the bar so high (KMHM) that I can't think of anyone who could top it. :)

As for 2015, we've already seen a handful of the so called multiple/split personalities dramas and hopefully there will be something more refreshing/interesting/exciting dramas in the future. Any last but not least, any 'painful' kissing scenes are unnecessary if both the leads aren't experienced or comfortable with it. It's better to let the audiences' imagination run free. (imho)

Familiar with Lee Jong Suk I would say that the multiple personality is him. Oh, he does this really aegyo personality every time but in essence this guy is more emotionally in touch than many actors. And he can appear really cold. As for the female lead, get someone who can act, please. The guy is talented but he can be affected by bad co-stars. And may I say no to Kang Sora and Park Bo Young?

I know I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but I suppose inability to feel feelings is perfect for Lee Jong-seok since he is unable to show emotions. A lot of people find his looks off-putting and I can get that, and I also get not being into his acting style, but the statement that he's 'unable to show emotions'......that's a new one.

That's a statement I'd reserve for living Ken dolls like Taecyeon or Song Seung-heon who pretty much have permanently blank eyes onscreen, when LJS pretty much has the opposite problem.

I actually think most of his characters have been too fleshed out, wherein they have a trajectory of going through every single shade and facet, I wanna see him play a cold dark and emotionless character for once. All of his characters have been too emotional. He should do something flat and blatant like Woo Bins role in Friend 2

the first time i watched LJS was School 2013,with Kim Woo Bin and jang Nara as a teacher. but i fell in love with KWB more...

actually LJS strength so far was because of his co-star. for eg, in I Can Hear Your Voice, there was Lee Bo Young who actually saved that drama a lot. i watched it solely because of LBY. in Pinocchio, it was Park Shin Hye. PSH also is not the greatest actress, but still she can act better than him.

Actually LJS is quite lucky coz he had some dramas that his co-stars helped a lot to save it.

im not judging so much on his acting skill, but he has none for me, lack of acting skill as well as not a real handsome. even Lee Min Ho is also has a lack of acting skill, but i still can bear to watch him because of his face.

Honestly, I have nothing against his looks, it took me a while before I could understand why some people find Kim Woo-bin attractive. It's just I wish I could connect with his characters more, there always seems to be something missing. I was watching the movie Face Reader a few weeks back and he was completely washed out when he was on-screen. I started IHYV and Pinocchio but had to drop both because his characters were so dull. I even liked Kim Young-kwang a lot more than him in Pinocchio.

Required fields are marked *

I beg to differ, some of his best scenes are with little to less known actors. It might be the co stars that land him the publicity ( and even then that's ONLY happened once with LBY, I don't see how being co stars with Woo Bin would help his career when Jong Suk's done more lead roles and was better known that Woo Bin when they made School 2013) but even amazing co stars can't help you act if you don't have the talent to begin with.

And I've never had a taste for Park Shine Hye until I saw her in Pinocchio, but the fact that Jong Suk got her to kiss when she hasn't had a decent kiss scene in her entire career worth of leading roles shows for something seeing as how Lee Min Ho barely managed to make the kissing scenes seem rapey in Heirs and he's considered one of the best kissers in Kdrama land.

......I am sick of Park Shin Hye being blamed for the 'rapey' nature of the kiss scenes in Heirs when it's well known that the big one was set up by LMH and the director to look that way - the passport-confiscating cupboard kiss? No one bothered to tell her beforehand that it was a makeout session.

But it wasn't just the one kiss that came off that way.. Her chemistry with all her leads except for ljs and that guy from flower boy next door give the same victimized heroine feel. I commend those two actors at least for selling the chem

He did manage to FINALLY teach Park Shin Hye to kiss, so he's definitely doing 'something'.

Disagree on the inability to emote comment. His ability to show emotions is one of the many reasons that I'm his fan! I did not like his appearance at first, but after watching his dramas, I was impressed how he acts with his body language and his eyes. After the disaster medical drama he was in, I really hope he stays away from this one.

Wow, I'm brand new to the kdrama world, but after reading all these comments I feel like I'm in the minority when I admit to liking this guy. Yikes, there are some surprisingly harsh opinions about this kid, apparently.

I'm not a fan of this drama concept, but I like LJS. I guess he's an acquired taste?

I'm very new to Hallyu. This kid caught my eye when my friend made me watch School 2013 and its epic bromance with her. I noticed him because he managed to make a mostly silent character charismatic and relatable to me. A few months later, my friend and I watched Pinocchio.

He has his quirks, but just want to say in the "points for great acting" category: I had no idea Go Namsoon and Choi Dal Po were played by the same person until I looked up the actor names. And then I had to double-check because I didn't believe he only filmed them a year apart. He just seemed like two different people to me.

Just wanted to write this for anyone who likes him who's reading the comments and getting a little depressed. Mostly because I got a little depressed. :) I didn't think I had a bad eye for actors, but apparently no one else thinks he's all that good. Whoops?

Your comment is so sweet. Don't worry, there are tons of people who find him talented, people within the industry respect him and line up to work with him, and the Korean public and international public mostly consider him a good and emotional actor. The negative opinions are just more vocal, a general rule.

You're right, he improved in a really impressive speed and that's because he still continues to take acting lessons and works to push himself even though he has already secured the status of a lead actor. Expect him to keep getting better.

Required fields are marked *

Yes, don't worry. If nobody liked him he would not be this popular and he would not be a Hallyu star. But he is, so. He receives loads of scripts, if he choose one he is guaranteed a timeslot, he just made another list in China for #1 best acting etc. Some people just might not find him their cup of tea, but most comments are just jealousy. 1-2 posters say they don't like him but post 10+comments here lol. Negativity comes with being too popular. Notice how a lot of comments say they preferred his co-star to Jong Suk or name their bias and make unfounded comparisons. Jong Suk fans would never feel the need to go to their articles and make comparing comments because they are confident in Jong Suk and his looks and his acting skills.

I am his fan too :) and believe me he is the one of best actors of his age group, and he achieved this fame quite rapidly, think this guy acted that complex character Go Nam Soon sooo well that everyone fell in love and in that early age he acted as a co star with LBY who is a really good actress but he did not let her overshadow him. And the best he made PSH to kiss , don't laugh that is the hardest thing :P

If you read other comments you will find that most them are criticizing his one drama, that was really not good. And who said he is plastic, well I feel if someone have problem with P.S than they have to stop watching kdramas

Required fields are marked *

He's a hallyu star, he's only got like 2 million fans so I'm sure there's lots of people who acknowledge his ability to act. The only reason he gets so much hate is cause he's won the most awards, and of those those awards the major ones weren't even fan voted but by critics choice
