Park Min-young joins Yoo Seung-ho in SBS’s Remember

The casting is shaping up nicely for SBS’s upcoming mystery-legal-thriller drama Remember, which is now adding Park Min-young (Healer) to join Yoo Seung-ho (I Miss You) and Park Sung-woong (Hidden Identity). So far, so good.
The drama from the writer of the lauded film The Attorney features a hero with hyperthymesia (an excessively detailed memory) who becomes a lawyer in order to clear his father’s name of a crime that earns him the death penalty. Park Sung-woong and Park Min-young will both play lawyers, though very different kinds: He plays a tough, resilient lawyer who gets caught up in the conspiracy along with the hero, while she starts out rather green, comes to understand the cold-heartedness of the law, and gradually becomes a mature lawyer.
Her character decides early on that law may not be for her and is in the process of deciding whether to quit law school when she hears of the hero’s father taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit. She’s been friends with the hero since they were children (the drama will feature Yoo Seung-ho and Park Min-young acting both as 18-year-olds and as their present-day adult counterparts) and decides to stick with him throughout his struggle, and starts to feel a new side to her feelings toward him.
At first glance it seems like Park Min-young’s character will be a familiar type for her—upbeat, happy-go-lucky, with a cute and quirky personality. Basically her bread and butter. Before Healer, I’d have thought that was the only mode she knew how to play, and generally liked her characters but didn’t think her acting was anything special. But I really felt like she discovered a new side of acting for Healer and tapped into an understanding of character she hadn’t previously displayed, so I’m feeling good about her growth as an actor. Remember sounds like a serious, meaty drama with the potential for some strong performances; here’s to hoping for strong chemistry on top of the suspense and thrills.
Remember follows Village: Secret of Achiara on SBS and premieres in December.

I thought PMY played a similar type of character as a law intern in A New Leaf. She did a brilliant job there in my humble opinion. Here's hoping for more from her character in this drama otherwise it would be like watching the same old thing...

Wait, has Seungho oppa confirmed? And talk about noona love, here comes oppa again with his age-defying chemistry with his leading ladies.
Good thing Minyoung unni is baby-faced, so it won't be that awkward to see her as an 18-year-old. Plus, after The Time I've Loved You where the PDs 'smartly' decided to make the characters be portrayed by the same actor and actress in their current (34 years old) and younger (17 years old) selves, I don't think other 'smart' younger counterparts (or lack of) can make me more irritated than TTILY -_-
Anyway, if oppa does confirm, may the odds be in my favor that the Dramabeans team will recap this! Especially since I also adore Minyoung unni, since Sungkyunkwan Scandal and of course Healer.

Try going over various drama hits made throughout the years and count how many of them had the male lead actor older than the female actress as much as is the case with these two, or more than the lead actress :P They could have also got an older female lead, or younger male lead. This age gap is very common. Frankly, if all those older males have always been normal and acceptable (irrespective of the visual component, nobody cared), I don't see any problem with this. And I'm not even a fan of the "noona romances", I like the same age, or a max 3 years gap. It's about fair/equal treatment, and people should get used to it just as they got used to older males :P
As for ajumma/half ajumma, I wonder how many people called warm and cozy's yoo yeon seok ajussi and complained about his age gap with kang so ra :P Also, considering the 1year difference between pmy and ji chang wook, does that make him a half ajussi too? XD

Skipped most of Missing You. But, I remember the age gap between the characters, albeit small, was acknowledged. Harry was two years younger, right? Also, she didn't reciprocate his feelings. To me, occasionally, he did look too young for Harry's age.
As for Remember, I don't know how old their characters are supposed to be. Will he look younger than his age? Will she look older?

Hmmm....I guess it could work, depends on the actor/actress. YSH may be young, but maybe the army managed to add some years to his actual age. And PMY is so tiny. With appropriate makeup and hairdo (and also acting), I think she could pull it off as someone the same age as YSH's character. Fingers crossed..
Btw, I wasn't really excited with the cast of Healer when they first announced it. Loved SKSS, but for YAI and SJK, not a fan of PMY. She was cute, but that's it. Healer had changed my view of her. I know her character in Remember sounds the same as her previous ones. I hope she will show us more growth as an actor in this new drama and surprise us even more!

I'm worried that there will be a scene of them together, or perhaps with other characters, that may break the illusion for me. Then, the whole thing will be lost for me. But, it's likely that I won't watch. Unfortunately, this genre doesn't suit me. So, probably worry over nothing ?

Oh.. I remembered reading in koala, that lee jong seok was offered this and he might take it(?)(Basing the fact that the child actors of this drama follows him on instagram). And i was like, if he accepts, it will be the nth time playing a genius something character. So i guess all that were rumors(?). Good. I want to see him in diff roles. Anyways.. This sounds like a meatier role and would be a wise choice for a comeback project for Yoo seung ho.
Park min young character sounds similar to her role from A New leaf. Wasn't she doing chinese drama? I like it that she does one project after another continuously. Only liked her in healer(aside from the haircut). And following healer once again, she is lucky to be paired with yoo seung ho, not just a good looking guy but a talented actor as well. Looking forward!.

I mean, they're all just rumors from "insiders" (I think it started to spread on drama dcgall? and then people started snooping around the child actor) so I wouldn't put much weight on it but it wouldn't be that surprising either. Like how Jongsuk was offered Misaeng and it was never made public until a few months ago when someone in the industry was talking about the general casting topic on tv. This stuff is no big deal and it's part of any production.
I look forward to Yoo Seungho in this role, I'm hoping he doesn't overwork himself though.

I wanted to see PMY in different character, for eg in villain role. I know she already did a villain role in one sageuk drama, can't remember since that drama was so boring ? but i want to see her in villain role in future. I like PMY but I think I have watched her in similar role for many years already. But I guess this is her bread n butter. It is not that she can't act, but in my opinion very few are meant to be versatile actors and can do various type of role. Not finish Healer for my own reason, but I love her in City Hunter and Glory Jane.
Anyway looking forward with this drama and hoping the best chemistry between PMY and YSH ?

So I have stopped deciding will the actor can carry on this plot by comparing to their previous performance...(lesson learnt)it depends on actors who decide what to do and park min young has never let it down (though bars are raised due to healer).. Looking forward to this...

I agree. There are tons of comments before a project is aired full of either discontent over the actors, the creators, the channels and practically anyone involved or the "can't wait for that drama/actors/story to see on my screen" excitement. Both attitudes have been proven dead wrong again and again, albeit the fact that people are still rather "expressive" of their thoughts.
So, yes, whoever is not a teenager any longer has learnt a valuable lesson throughout the years and that's called "patience". There's always the element of surprise in life and, even though K-dramaland is not famous for breaking the habit of predicable trajectories and repetitive performances (perhaps one of the reasons we got addicted in the first place) anything is possible in terms of execution and acting as long as we can wait before judging.

Wait so, they're really playing the same age? Don't get me wrong, Park Minyoung is a very youthful looking 29 year old, but Yoo Seungho is 22 and he can still pass as a teenager. Apperance wise, I think he could maybe match up to a 25 year old at most if they they're hoping to pass the pair off as the same age. He even still looks younger standing next to Park Shinhye in their ads.

I like Park Min Young and even if she isn't the best actress out there I still think she can act and is way better than many other actress or idol-actress out there but isn't she too old for YSH?! I mean yeah she got a baby face but if you put YSH and her side by side it really is noticeable that she is way older. Can't they find a 93 liner or a 94 liner actress for YSH?
But since she is confirmed, I will just support. I truly hope this doesn't turn out like YEH and YSH in I Miss You. I swear even if they try to make YSH look older in there and try to make YEH look younger, she still look way older than him. It was awkward. But I will out my whole trust to both YSH and PMY and pray they make it work!!

Aww, my favourite girls are getting good roles with my favourite guys, first Shin-hye and Jo Jung-seok, now Min-young and Yoo Seung-ho. I'm excited and I totally agree to a Ji Chang-wook cameo, his bromance with Yoo Seung-ho in WBDS killed me dead and broke my heart to pieces. I still cry every time I watch the last episode of WBDS. Now, if only So-eun would get an equally awesome role.

I am tired of the same old concept, the hero is the experienced, mature guy while the heroine is the green one just starting out.
