Go Soo, Jin Se-yeon for MBC sageuk Flower in Prison

Hrm, I don’t know about this casting, but let’s see what it’s about: Jin Se-yeon (Age of Feeling) has announced her next drama as the MBC sageuk Flower in Prison, and Go Soo (Empire of Gold) is now considering.
The drama centers around a woman born in prison and follows her success story, with Jin Se-yeon set to play the lead character named Ok-nyeo, which literally means “prison woman.” No word yet on what character Go Soo would play, other than that he’s a lead. Which I could figure well enough on my own, since he’s Go Soo.
The drama will deal with the Joseon legal system, in particular the people who argued on behalf of wronged citizens. They weren’t government officials who handled lawsuits, but would help ordinary people interpret the law and handle lawsuits for them, in a time when the legal code was written solely in hanja and thus out of the reach of understanding for commoners. In essence, it was a precursor to the modern legal system, with lawyers serving as intermediaries between the people and the courts.
The drama will be directed and written by two heavy-hitters in the sageuk world, PD Lee Byung-hoon (Dong-yi, Yi San, Dae Jang Geum) and scriptwriter Choi Wan-kyu (Triangle, Gu-am Heo Jun, IRIS, Jumong, All In, and Sangdo, among many others). While the main characters will be fictionalized, the drama will incorporate a number of real historical figures and events.
I can’t say that I’m thrilled with this pairing, because while I’d be happy to see Go Soo in another drama, I don’t understand how Jin Se-yeon gets all these leading roles when she’s yet to rise to the challenge of any of them. (Basically, girlfriday said it best.) I always want to be optimistic that people can change or discover hitherto-latent acting skills (Lee Yeon-hee had Miss Korea, Lee Bo-young had My Daughter Seo-young, even Changmin had Scholar Who Walks the Night)… but how many times can someone be bad and get that benefit of the doubt? That’s mostly a rhetorical question, but if you’ve got an answer, do share!
Jin Se-yeon will begin filming in mid to late February, after the childhood portions are filmed. Flower in Prison will follow MBC’s current weekend drama My Daughter Geum Sa-wol, to premiere in March.

Maybe this will be the drama that improves her acting? U never know.
Lets not judge her acting on this drama until it actually starts. All newbies have to learn at some point.

I do feel for the actresses who are better than some leading ladies but don't get the big roles. In a drama that's female-centric, a great actress is necessary and JSY probably will not deliver that. I'll probably still attempt to watch it because I'm thirsty for female-centric historical dramas. Hope she's improved!

JSY is a really bad actress imo but Go Soo also has this magical ability to draw out the best from his female lead e.g. Han Ye Seul in Will It Snow For Christmas. That particular drama went crazy in the second half but both actors held their ground and did all they could to give a strong performance. Maybe miracles will happen again...

Lets just hope ahe doesn't die in this one and have her own happy ending. However, a bad actor one could be but everyone desrves their happy ending. Even if it is Jin se yeon! Besides she stared in one of my all time fav drama Gaksital so I am not gonna post any hate conment on her. I would rather choose to ignore that drama without any effort.

WOW... great. Finally get to see her in historical drama. I was hoping for one since watching her in her 1st drama "The Duo". She is really good at that young age. Now that she is 21 years of age... I am sure she will continue to improve and SHINE. Don't criticise just because you don't like her or jealous of the opportunities she is given. She is one great actress and will continue to horne her acting skill in years to come. Take a look at those actresses/actors in their 30s or 40s. Am sure they gone thru the same process when they are in their early 20s and can now consider "good/great" depending on the roles they get. JSY..keep fighting and ignore those rude comments.

Jealous? No.
But I feel she keeps wasting opportunities because her acting still not improved, after being a lead cast for some dramas. She is not a supporting cast, but lead cast.
I watched her in some dramas, unfortunately she is not there yet. She needs acting lesson, if she seriously consider to be in this industry for a long time. For now, take acting lessons, find out what role she is capable to and train herself to be comfortable in front of camera by getting supporting roles first. Her agency keeps choosing a role which not suit her, as a result she looks so unnatural in front of camera.
The thing is, she is not the only one wooden actress, there are many others, and there might be anyone worse than her,. However, what made she is always being a centre of discussion, because she keeps getting good offer, ie as a lead cast, good drama and great co-star, but she always fail in giving a believable acting.

wooden? rather than to being exaggerated acting lol! we are not always perfect in our action, I feel sorry to you, you did easily to judge even you not knowing the real situation, why the actors/actress are like that, whatever you say I know Jin Se Yeon is become better leading female and suprise you in her improving and her good acting.

ok, opinion is opinion I respect you in some reason, but please listen to my words. If she's not improve why many viewers praised her acting in her web drama High End Crush? after they watch her performance in that drama, everyone loves her character and that web drama became popular, on my opinion she deserve's a lead roles but in a great drama that she was become to improve better and if her director is good she always improve, like what you said her agency is not choosing a great roles for her, your right but happened that mistakes was in her past career, I don't defend her agency but atleast now they listen to Jin Se Yeon side to accepting a better projects. I see she fit in historical drama because if you want to watch the The Duo she act natural in her small appearance, sorry I'm disagree to you, but I respect your opinion I'm not blind and bias, But when I saw Jin Se Yeon I can't saw that she is unnatural in front of camera, she's acted with preparing her character, you know is not easy to act and cast in a heavy drama if you new in showbiz. Ok, Bridal Mask is heavy but atleast that is a great drama. The worst heavy dramas that she took. Boring and nonsense are FF, IG, and DS that dramas are not really help to her improvement. I want you really to know that shes not wasted her opportunities her other writers and directors do the mistakes, like the other great actors if their acting is failed and their drama were not better, of course who are responsible aren't the writer and director? and what the point to judge Jin Se Yeon acting if her fellow actors/actress are not also perfect in their other dramas? "jelous" topic. If you are not jelous why want you comparing your biases? and you are said they deserving in role of Jin Se Yeon. Don't lie of course you are want them in a good roles and good projects but not the point to compare them to Jin Se Yeon because I don't saw that they are perfectly in some of their dramas. Aaaaagh...Not watching it,if this girl will be a Lead again..there are a lot of good actresses out there..hoping they will replace her,or make her a second lead only..She will just going to ruin the whole story..It`s just ok if it`s her first time but how many series already that she`s been chosen as lead,but still,she deliver the same damn acting..God forgive me,I did not finish Doctor Stranger because of her,..She`s just going to ruin the good actors.I watch Bridal Mask because of Joo Woon.and THIS ONE AGAIN????..??..

Shin Se Kyung improved immensely in the Smell drama and now Six Flying. If under the right direction she can do pretty well.
Jin se-yeon and Go sung-hee are beyond atrocious. They ruin everything. Absolute worst actresses.

These the reason that's why sometimes I dont want to read this website, there's so many one-sided, judgmental, bullies people, I'm so sick to read these criticize and comparing to the actors/actress acting, maybe in their other dramas they are emotionless but it doesn't mean they all worst, why don't u observed their writers and their directors if they are well to their actors, before u judge the actors, why don't we give them a chance to show their improving on their future projects. For me I don't care if their acting are like that. Important to me the story is good writing. The other actors who's great now, they were became great because, surely their other dramas are good writing and they are offered in good roles. It depends to the roles, if good or not, if not the actors are not so much improves. What if you are in the situation of Jin Se Yeon? I'm sure you are make sad and bad, to judge you for nothing.
I'm sympathize Jin Se Yeon because she had potential in acting skills, if she offered a great roles/characters in her other past projects . I think she became improving up to now. The worst things to happened to Jin Se Yeon is she offered a second choices in her leads but on her being second choice was not make better to her because FF, IG, and worst for the worst is DS are not great written, she is not her fault to ruined that drama, she only actress to followed her director rules. The good thing to happened to Jin Se Yeon she bacame improved in her web drama High End Crush because her director in that web drama is good he knows to being good director to his actors. Evidence Jin Se Yeon proved she's become great actress if her drama was great to her . I saw her in her small appearance in The Duo she's good in her face emotion, I believe she's really improve in this drama because the PD here is great. Her latest projects are all exciting, well prepare and deserving to her comeback.

I love Jin Se Yeon and I'm fine with Ko Soo.
But does it make sense??? Oh my God.
Ko Soo is 16 YEARS OLD OLDER than Jin Se Yeon.... -_- hellooo.
Isn't there another actors that younger than Ko Soo to be paired with Jin Se yeon? or Isn't there another actress that older than Jin Se Yeon to be paired with Ko Soo?

I am here for LOVING AND KEEP SUPPORTING JIN SE YEON..
Even though I know and I agree that sometimes her acting is "less of emotion or expression" but still I hope and trust she will change and upgrade her skill :) As human, we have to think in positive way :)
I also already heard about her overlapping drama and having powerful sponsors and even there were some people said she did sex to get become popular, oh my god people here are too much and too bad.
