I miss Shin-hyuk's beard. Siwon looks all model-smooth and his hair even looks shaved down (maybe for military service upcoming). For me, Siwon is pretty much squarely in the "uncanny valley" most of the time. So good looking in a stereotypical model way it's off-putting. As scruffy Shin-hyuk, I found him much more attractive and really fun.

Actually there was quite a bit I enjoyed, like her reverting back to the curly-haired, freckled hye jin of the past (or pre-Most,rather). Although I'm not a fan of the year long split, I quite liked the fact that she realized ( and vocalized! Hallelujah!) her wish to stay behind and follow her dreams ! And that proposal ! Their proposals! <3

@Tej I am with you on all the things you mentioned. But they were the only nice things in an otherwise boring episode. They sadly were not enough for me to ignore the overall filler vibes that this episode gave. And I always hate that year long separation trope in kdramas.

I have pretty much given up on the show. Not really "bad" - but definitely not compelling enough to spend any time on it unless I am pretty bored. It should have ended at 13.

I have to make brutal confession for myself :

As much as my heart goes to PSJ and HJE, I STOP watching She was Pretty since the day Hye Jin picks up the phone in her new makeover look. Seriously. Damn it. I don't even have the 'eagerness' to click the new eps link to watch. Lazy.

And I don't plan to do so.

The rest eps looses its charms, and in the 1st place I never mind having makeover. Why? I confused myself as well. It's like Yong Pal all over again, after save Young Ae at ep.6, everything crumbles apart.

These 2 dramas is like Titanic. Is one thing, but the boat cracked into 2parts, right in the middle of runs. One still floating which 1-6/8-ish eps, and the rest-end already sinked in the water, and about times to pull down the best part of the boat drowning. Ruins the firstly good eps.

Is this new 'recipe' trend in late 2015?
Why show why? You should be good, why?

Oh and did I mention 'how' bland Goo Jun Hee's character aftermath? She should be one most interesting second lead female's charc ever written by!

Thats exactly my case. I stopped at that episode. The entire show seemed pointless when she got a makeover. I mean she could get it when she was about to meet SJ after years for the first time. And then why even make a show over it?

Kind of. But I mostly just watched scenes with Hari, the other office couple, the reveal, and Shin-hyuk. I will be angry if Shin-hyk is gone for good..they have to bring him back for the finale right?? and more than like 5 mins?? I'm gna miss my fav character.. :))

Yup, don't feel like clicking the latest 2 episodes. Don't like noble idiocracies and downplaying of 2nd leads.

But because of this, I bumped into 5 to 9, a J-drama. It's so much fun, hilarious with a good story line and of course with some absurdities (which Jdrama doesn't have that) but not overdone. Imagine a monk who found his life-time partner! Nice!

I actually don't mind the slow pace. Maybe it's just me, but I don't mind a slower drama full of more cute things LOL. We all know this is a light rom com not some epic thriller where I need more plot points and stuff. And although they took the year apart (Which I usually hate), i liked how the show handled it. They talked about and were realistic because if Hye Jin went with him or if he didn't go, that makes their character devlopment go backwards.

Currently Watching:
Sassy Go Go- The latest episode was the best one till now. Everyone deserves forgiveness. Even Soo Ah. And the team-ance wa oh so cute.

She Was Pretty- It was such a hilarious show. What happened to it? Did the writers really think saving Most would be more interesting after the central love conflict was resolved? I didn't laugh even once in the episode. And I am starting to get irritated of Hye Jin's silly smiles. It seems that's all she does and it seems fake now. I also miss the funny Shin Hyuk.

Because it's the first time- A really pretty and nice show. I love every moment when I watch it but I don't miss it later. Weird.

Recently finished:
Thank You- Amazing show but the last 3 episodes were draggy.
I Need Romance- Oh i loved the wo-mance:) and the Hyung from Heirs.
I Need Romance 2012- Not as good as the first but quite good in itself.

I want to watch What's Up because so many people recommended it but I dunno where to watch it.

Well, since we're going down that road again, it would be nice this time if people would actually pay attention to the meat of the narrative over the framing device, which we all accept as a trollish storytelling gimmick. While AM 1994 was very flawed, fandom ultimately ruined it for themselves.

I will NOT! watch it! NOT! NOT! NOT! NOT! NEVER! NOT UNTIL AT LEAST THE SHOW'S OVER!

But I skimmed through the first episode and... did they just use a different actress in 2015 for the same female lead? Wow, now they don't even cover their tracks. They completely replace it. And everything's so gray.

Rules of Dating - Daring, thought-provoking and refreshing. I was thinking I'd get a rom-com but, well, I didn't. In fact, the romance is quite disturbing and well, unromantic. But it managed to take my heart despite my quibbles about it. Its characters were unlikeable yet complex and its message, heartfelt. The leads, Park Hae-il and Kang Hye-jung were undoubtedly great and I personally liked the visuals and the shaky hand-held. All in all, it was good but the ending? Let's just say it's not for everyone... And Kang Hye Jung, wow, i think she ages backwards. She looked so different then though I think it's the weight gain and hairstyle change.

I Am Sorry, I Love You - I don't know what to say. Latest ep was trying to be dramatic and all. But it didn't pull my heartstrings, in fact, none of the eps has done so. The hospital scene with Mother Ling was so ridiculous(ly funny). Shu Hai's teleportation and the shield thing made for some wtf-lols(I'm sorry, drama. I love you harhar). Fortunately, Si Yi finally slapped the jerk which, for me, was the best thing about this ep. And I'm pretty much convinced that Jasper and Bryant are the real OTP lol.

What's Up- Thanks, show, for filling the black hole in my heart and then leaving, thus making it bigger. Make up to me(us) with a Season 2!

Padam Padam- There no sound to my heartbeats because you broke it, show. Still, thanks for the happy ending. You're a miracle.

Healer - I don't know why the heck I put it on hold(twice!). The first time I watched, it was exam week. The second time, well, I don't know. I don't remember but it must have been because I didn't want it to end(was on ep 16). I guess, third time's the charm?

Misaeng - Rewatching it right now which marks a first. No matter how much I loved the show the first time, I haven't ever rewatched(I tried to rewatch Queen In hyun's Man but the editing, especially the split screens, which I loved the first time became distracting).

And Na PD should cast Song Joong Ki, Jo In Sung, Im Joo Hwan and Lee Kwang Soo for his next show. Then he should call it the Frozen Flower Boys(plus Kwangsoo) lol.

I think is one best makjang out there (based on aired eps), the story quiet fresh, still have childhood love story (but is diff), the cast is quiet amazing even I have slightly worries about Choi Kang Hee , but it's delicious and one reward, heroine is not candy girl, no noble idiocy here.

Happy Friday!
Drama-wise:
Six Flying Dragons:
Awesome acting all around. Feel like watching 2 shows - Typical Sageuk and Fusion Sageuk. Some speaks in Sageuk tone, others speak in casual way. Also where is the king?- This is might be the only Sageuk show I have not seen the king in the royal court(so far).

I love Bang-ji(Byun Yo-han!). So I had to look up Tree with deep roots.
Lee Bang-ji: No 1 swordsman and only person defeated Mu-hyul. In ep 10, He was revealed as Jung Do-jeon's bodyguard. In ep 17, Mu-hyul mentioned Lee Bang-ji loved Jung Do-jeon's woman(Yeon-hee). During the first prince war(war amongst Lee Sung-gye's sons), Jung Do-jeon's woman became a hostage, LBJ went to save her, leaving JDJ. But she asked him to save Jung Do-jeon, and killed herself. However when LBJ returned, things were pretty much done (Jung Do-jeon was finished). Lee Bang-ji felt guilty (not saving his master or his love). Later, Jung Gi-jun (accused LBG as betrayer) brought Gapyi to murder Lee Bang-ji. They fought fiercely and LBG fell from the cliff. At the end of ep 19, He hid in Jo Mal-seang's room and even though JMS tried to save him, LBG eventually died in ep 20, saying he lived good warrior life. -I love SFD is making connections to TWDR.

Sassy go go:
Such delightful drama. I am glad it is making big waves overseas(especially in China). Lee Won-geun/Kim Yeol said he would choose love over friendship if he is real KY.

Dazzling temptation:
Makjang but interesting with mysteries. Love Joo Sang-wook who can be both funny and serious. Did you see his face when he went on the turtle ship ride in the amusement park? -adorkable.

Bubble gum:
Better than The time we... Looking at Jung Ryo-won here make me think that Ha Ji-woon was miscasted in that show.

She was pretty:
Glad it is finishing up soon because I am losing interest. The biggest shining star is Choi Si-won/Sin-hyuk who is now said to be the first Korean who has 5M followers to his twitter- @siwon407 (Congrats on Super Junior 10 year anniversary!)

They say three idols shinning the most currently-
Choi Si-won (SWP- they said he got his role tailored for him in SWP),
Yook Sung-jae (Village- Moon Geun-young complemented him he would be successful if he was an actor),
Jung Eun-ji (SGG- They say she was never a newbie acting-wise from the get go).

Other-
I love the variety shows where Actors/actresses act/talk cool or silly in their real life. For example, Lee Sang-woo (All about mom) is so quiet but talks forever if he is drunk, they say, Sim Hyung-tak(Let's eat) says the best thing being independent is that he can watch porn without care, Top(of Big Bang) has never worn short sleeves, never shower with other members out of shyness etc.
Then again, I assume entertainers can use these shows to manipulate their images (like they showed in Producer). In Mask singer, awesome singer Gyu-Hyun of Su Ju said because their group appear in many variety shows, people...

Love it!

I reallyyy love Six Flying Dragons, and I start watching Empress Ki to feed my waiting.

Dazzling Temptation : Agree, I do think one of new creative makjang I've watched, but why Choi Kang Hee's acting makes me sick? sorry I love her, but I felt weird with her here, when she cried/sad or agitate, she looks horrible and her acting seems so 'acting' not natural, and so makjang-ness.

Can you recommend good variety shows nowadays?

0
3
reply

Required fields are marked *

Other people may be able to recommend good ones.
I do not watch many because I just can't seem to find time (drama takes up most of my free time). If I watch, I enjoy music shows (hidden singer, mask singer, Immortal songs) and Happy together (because it is mostly talking). I also used to watch 1N2D, Daddy where are we going etc.

And of course, the no.1 variety show for over 10 years in Korea is Infinity Challenge.

btw I agree. I like Choi Kang Hee, but she does bad in DT I think. Feel like she is not into her role.

"Also where is the king?"

I think they didn't want to hire another child actor just to sit there and say/do nothing. King U was basically a child puppet king. Choi Young was running the country anyway.

I learned the general Choi Young is the most honest human being when I was in grade school (well beside general Yi Soon-shin). We used to sing his song (starting with "Look at the gold like looking at a stone). Also I remember to read that the ghost Shamans/MuDang in Korea worship the most is Choi Young. So I still feel weird whenever he is portrayed in any negative light.

Required fields are marked *

That's why I love old school sageuks more. The older writers are more responsible when it comes to portraying historical figures in their drama.

I don't think Choi Young is being portrayed in a negative light So far he is fair and the only one to put In-hyeong in his place.

people don't take them seriously (their singing talent is ignored, things like that).

I read about Ryu Soo-young (Outrageous daughter-in-law) talking. He and Park HaSun is real couple 'Two weeks' created. (Yeah for second male lead again!). How cute RSY- when he said he tried to do skinship with PHS during TW filming even though it was not in the script~

I hope you are all doing well today. ....... Cold weather has finally arrived! Yay!! Now it finally feels like Fall.

Watched this week:

Hwajeong - 2 more episodes left to watch!

Six Flying Dragons - Just started this. I've only watched the first 2 episodes. ....... Wow. Very, very good.

Village: Secret of Achiara - Watching this in bits and pieces only. ....... Nothing is particularly standing out for me, but that may just be me not watching it continuously enough to get into it. I dunno.

She Was Pretty - I'm still in the beginning episodes of this and so far I'm really, really enjoying this. ....... Loving Choi Siwon and his goofiness.

That's about it for now. ........ Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

That's one drama I'm looking forward to, Yoo Seung ho with his cat. Also his drama with PMY. Others I'm considering watching: Bubblegum, Answer Me 1988.

Waiting to see how SWP & SGG ends next week! I'm betting on one more angst for SWP before a HEA ending. While for SGG, 12 episodes really aint enough! Sigh. Me want more cheerleading! And more cuteness. And Yeol. :-P

More importantly, the cat is voiced by an actress. Orange tabbies without any white patches are overwhelmingly male. A big female orange tabby is rare. I'm interested in this cat's issues and manifestation of such issues.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

The ones I've seen are moderate sized orange tabbies. They were often female. However, I do note that in my region, animals are just smaller all round.

I remember being in the US and in Australia and seeing cats the size of our dogs (medium big), dogs the size of sheep (unsheared) and pigeons the size of hens. My travelling companions and I were rather amused, after we got over the surprise.

0

A neutered male cat often grows bigger, as long as food is a concern. It's part hormones and part of the cat becoming less active. Same effect has been noticed in some castrated men for centuries.

Many people in the U.S. like larger dogs.

As for urban pigeons, or referred by some as flying rats. I rescued a couple and both were tame. They are pretty much descendants of domesticated pigeons. Domestic pigeons most likely were bred to be large and strong on purpose. There are wild mourning doves in my neighborhood. They are kind of shaped like a pigeon but smaller.

Hello beanies!

Started Giant ( I know I am late, but better late than never), already watched 13 episodes. It really hooked me up. I am too tired now, otherwise i might be staying up just to watch this .Still a long journey, anyway. So far so good! How KCIA interrogated the suspect was so.. scary :( But all characters performed very well.. It really deserved as a high rated drama. regret that at the time when this drama was aired, im not that addicted to kdrama yet..

Still waiting for subs for Love Me If You Dare. I swear I really fell in love with Wallace Huo! My first time watching C-drama after really a long time. Lee Dong Wook will remain as my first love, maybe Wallace Huo will be my eternal love? lol. But im eyeing some others as my love interest as well. i must be greedy, right?
Anyway, I love this drama, mainly because it is about crime investigation, which is really my thing. But the relationship between the leads is cute and there were times made me giggling :D

As usual, weekend is coming over, I Have A Lover will be back! Anyone watching this too? Will Choi Jin Eon finally found out his wife is actually not dead? I doubt he will know very soon that the current Yonggo Dong Ki is the real Hae Kang. The possibility for Kang Seol Ri to start become really crazy is near. Excited to watch this week's episode. I just hope we do not need to wait for a long time until Hae Kang and YKDG know about each other's existence.

I know the possibility for Ji Jin Hee or Kim Hyun Joo to win Daesang Prize at SBS Award this year is lesser, because this drama is not doing so good in rating, but they already won for me. Their acting is superb, and they emote very very well. If there is a chance, they should open class and teach the young actors especially on how to emote. :)

@sera OMO OMOOOOO -- Yes and yeeees with "I Have A Lover" in my mind I was like "ARE THEY FREAKING STILL ACTING?!! REALLY?!!

The emotion in Ji Jin-hee's eyes is so raw. I can see passion. Beneath that passion lies a thousand layers of more emotion. It is unreal. I have been following Ji Jin-hee in ALL HIS DRAMAS [eg. Dae Jang Geum, Captain, Dong Yi, Spotlight, Warm Word except Blood I guess] but this drama challenged me to see him in a different ACTING light, TO BE HONEST.

I'm forever a lover of Kim Myung-min, but how could the ACTUAL Ji Jin-hee have such eyes full of emotion? Daaaaaang! [To that extent, yes, but KMM is my #1]

Ji JinHee on his role: "Choi Jin-un is an attractive character an actor might able to meet once in an acting lifetime." He said he is so happy receiving huge love from viewers by meeting such an attractive character.

For the reason why people are crazy about CJU, he says the way he falls in love with his wife is shown as innocent and sincere, and the message anyone can fall into a trap of having affair, but perpetual love is their spouse - wife or husband seems to appeal to viewers.

He said in the beginning he earned so much hate by his wrong choices, but his regrets about his behavior, his efforts to win his wife regardless of others' accusations to right the wrong he committed worked in the positive way. "During this progress, viewers' attitude changed from accusation to sympathy, and they cheer me on. I feel like this drama is alive. and this is real melo drama where Jin-un loves his wife, only one woman dearly."

About the popularity of the show, JJH said "Love between Jin-un and Hae-gang is not something of youth doing. They have a child and so their love is deeper and darker in color. So it has more reality."

@fan, TQ for this.

“Love between Jin-un and Hae-gang is not something of youth doing. They have a child and so their love is deeper and darker in color. So it has more reality.”

Agreed with this. What made this drama is more worthy to watch is their acting, they never fail to express their emotions. I am just glad, CJE and DHK character fall into the hand of right actor and actress.

I Have A Lover you say? Now we're talkin --

@sera -- I have never been happier that Ji Jin-hee turned down Assembly (2nd lead) to be the PERFECT Choi Jin-eon ever. Anyone besides Ji Jin-hee is miscast for Choi Jin-eon. You are right. Nobody else can take Do Hae-kang, but Kim Hyun-joo.

Choi Jin-eon is Ji Jin-hee's most sophisticated role. I feel like it is the absolute role he mostly immersed himself too. Choi Jin-eon is his ultimate role. Though Min Jung-ho is hard to beat in my heart of hearts.

@fan Yes, yes, yes! I want him to rot in hell. The fire should boil him and consume him totally. But when I see him being much begging for a second chance, I quite do not remember any of his past stupidity. So much desperation there, maaaaan. From accusation to sympathy. Definitely.

There was a time that Ji Jin-hee felt confused of his role. He does not know which is which. Not because he does not understand his character, but Choi Jin-eon really does not understand himself. Dang, Ji Jin-hee and Choi Jin-eon becoming ONE.

I fully agree with you on "I Have A Lover" aaaand --

GIANT --

Did you absolutely just say Giant? My gosh, I am so excited for you. You definitely need that rest, mifriend. While marathoning Giant, be sure to rest while it is still the earlier episodes. When I was marathoning it, I slept while I could. Coz reviews online say it would absorb me that I cannot escape it. And then it happened, while I was in Episodes 18 onwards. I had to pump myself up with coffee and more caffeine. Giant addiction is real. It is pure magic, I do not know how it is even possible. How could a freaking biopic about Construction companies and corrupt police look so... magical?

And freaking Jo Pil-yeon is DESPICABLE. Best villain ever. Jo Pil-yeon. That stupid clever name. Yes, over Madam Choi, over Kang Do-young, over Lee Myung-hwan, over Joker. Jo Pil-yeon is the villain of all villains. I hate him -- but actor Jung Bo-seok is soooooo hot and soooooo talented. He is soooooo SEXY; his villain-licious role made him even hotter.

Lol I'm proud to be one of Jung Bo-seok's fan-girls. I end up watching Shin Don last night from episode 41 because Gongmin was mentioned in Six Flying Dragon's 10th eps. Every time King Gongmin or Giant is mentioned I immediately think of him. He is such a brilliant actor I miss seeing him in dramas.

Jung Bo-seok is sexy as hell. Soooooo sexy I just wanna take him any time of the day -- any day of the week. And I just wanna tell the world, I am with the actual Jo Pil-yeon, the greatest villain of all-time! [or is that Gru?]

Jung Bo-seok is so sexy! My goshhhhh

I said earlier, I want to sleep early, but now staying up and reached epi 20. The addiction is real. Watched Jung Bu-Seok as a nice father before, but here he is true, villain of all villains. Always watched Lee Duk Hwa as a villain, but Jung Bu Seok beat him in who is the most villain between two. Lol.

This genre is totally cup of my tea. The struggle is real, chingu. Gotta lock myself in the room, so no one cannot bother me until I completed the marathon.

Oh definitely -- politics, greed, money, power, ambition. GIANT is the best work of the writer. You gotta remember to eat though. :-)

Lee Duk-hwa is a good man here. Jung Bo-seok is just the power-hungry manipulative hot stuff. I gotta love him for that. He just steals the whole show. How could an antagonist just -- HOW?!

Whether it is good or not, u decide after watching. I can highly recommending it, since I love it. The plot is balanced, not moving too fast since it is 50 episodes. What won me over is the leads' acting.

Just a warning ahead, that first 10 episodes was quite painful, to watch. Anyway this is melodrama, and it totally plays with your emotion very well.

Required fields are marked *

I wouldn't call it makjang but a well-done melo (so far at least).

I was drawn to it firstly due to Kim Hyun Joo whose acting in this drama is no joke practically playing three - yes, THREE - different roles each with distinct personalities and traits. Her portrayal of pre-HK is actually most impressive to me because I can't recall any similar female lead in other dramas. A highly successful and sophisctated career woman with hidden wounds that eventually crumbled down, but without losing any of her dignity. The scene she placed her thumb on that document is hauntingly heartbreaking whilst maintaining her self-pride - it blows me away!

However, Ji Jin Hee is a revelation in I Have A Lover. He has always been a bit bland to me but here he pulls out a very layered performance as commemted in the 13.1.1 thread above.

The writer is doing a very good job so far with tight pace and not totally predictable plot twists that keeps audience on the edge wondering what next.

But the first 9 episodes are emotionally hard to watch. I started from Ep 10 and upward, then backtracked the earlier episodes.

Watching this drama has a sense of going back to the original root of KDrama after the so many new genres we witnessed in the last few years.

Exactly. I started 11 onwards. Then backtracked. That is what I suggest to others too.

If you watch "I Have A Lover" start with Episode 11 upwards. ;-)

Truly, IHAL has the ROOT CORE FEELING of kdramas [the vibe, the classic feel, the angst]

I keep talking about Ji Jin-hee because he has shocked me with this role. In EPYC's words -- he is a REVELATION here. He has always looked like a normal leading man. But he pulls this off with all colors. If I might say, he deserves a Daesang here. [Well, Kim Hyun-joo is his only tough competitor]

Though I feel someone from Six Flying Dragons will get it.

0

Exactly guys! This drama doesn't play with many plots, but it plays with emotions, which I don't think everyone can handle it..

Daesang prize always goes to most popular drama right? Unless it is a miracle, JJH and KHJ may not listed. But I have no complaint,6FD also a great drama so far, based on reviews. Yet to start, but downloading each epi so far.will start when there is a right time☺ l will be grateful enough if they win best actor and actress.

0

No worries. There's no Han Hyo-joo here. But I assure you she is paired with Ji Jin-hee in Dong Yi. :-)

I don't know if you would call it makjang. But the only makjang-ish element here is [SPOILER] a husband who cheated seeking for a second chance.

Idk, but I do not get the makjang feels here. Hard to believe, but the vibe I feel here is what I feel with 16-episode dramas.

Thank you so much all change for your POV, ^^!

I will find time to watch this, now I know is kinda melodrama, need to buckle up and manage my emotions first.

One other drama I really want to start, Cheongdamdong Scandal, is total makjang for sure, but I google the rating goes up from 10,-- to 20,-- .

Anyone watch this?

Just searched it, it is daily drama right? I am not watching daily drama, in the past there were one or two. I have too many dramas to handle at this time , lol. 50 or 60 episodes are long enough to handle.

U are watching GT too, right? I am also watching it. But yet to get the feels. I think maybe after few more episodes, I will finally get the feels. Love JSW, so I will sure stay with GT until the end. Glad that he back to memo/makjang stories, he is cute in Rom com but I love him more in melo

I checked Cheongchamdong Scandal was scheduled in weekend drama if not wrong.

Yeah after few eps GT will get the feels. JSW suits more in melo/makjang/adult shows rather than romcom. But Chae Ye Ryun the one comes thru for me. And I surprised she is in Black Mini Dress with the boyish cut!
I don't know how many eps they plan on this tho.

See you in next OT sera, sure will talk about GT or other makjang updates, :))

Omg THANK YOU for introducing me to Love Me If You Dare!!! I've been having a serious C-drama withdrawal after the ending of Nirvana in Fire. The plot of LMIYD hooked me from the start (who doesn't love a good criminal investigation drama) but imagine my surprise to see Wang Kai (who I looooved in Nirvana) in it as well! Seriously the cherry on top. xD

Hello sera! For the past few open threads I've been looking for your posts for any commentary about I Have a Lover...and every week I'm too late to join in on the comments (maybe next week haha). But omg, are we the same person?? Not only do you watch IHAV, you watch LMIYD too? (why oh why are the LMIYD episodes so short </3)
These two dramas are what I look forward too on Thurs & Fri/Sat now. (and yes LDW is LOVE, but Wallace Huo doe yesss) I am definitely enjoying IHAL despite its ongoing crazyness, but every week the two leads just deliver the drama with such raw emotion that keeps me hooked. (I'm kinda surprised myself that I'm hooked on to a 50 ep "makjang" type drama lol) I just watched ep 21 and OMG WHAT WAS THAT ENDING??
Def going to try to get on Open Thread next week haha :)

Hi all!

Sassy Go Go – (spoilers) I had tears streaming down my cheeks - I wasn’t really crying crying – it was more like an involuntary response to Soo Ah’s apologies and “final” day and how the students decided to come through for her in her hour of need. I was thinking how unrealistic it was even for a kdrama, but then I thought maybe the resilience and ability to turn to someone who is hurting so terribly because you’ve been there can look like what some of the kids did for Soo Ah. She was so happy to be forgiven – it was a good direction and something different in a kdrama. Anyway, I liked what happened to my own surprise, because she was finally stopped in a way I hadn’t anticipated. I don’t think I can bear to watch that mother anymore, however, and will ff her off the screen. The bromance - it’s killer. (*pop!*) back to kdramaland: my girlfriend’s mother is seriously dating my father.

Bubblegum – I had a hard time with that kiss.

SWP – I had a great time with that kiss.

Happy Together – they sure are working hard around that probably very expensive conveyer belt concept. I don’t get it. But, at least there was some cohesiveness this week with the cast from All About My Mom (Eugene and Lee Sang Woo and like 8 other people running around). I miss the sauna!!

6FD - fighting!

First snow of the year here, it dropped from 70s to freezing. Have a great weekend!

Bubblegum - Why? It wasn't like a real kiss, probably just a smack. :) We will find out in the next episode but I thought it was a nice surprise.

She could react negatively but RH is often childish and oversteps his boundaries so I liked not because it was a nice romantic surprise but because it seemed very within his character.

Because it seemed more like a kiss between the Ri Hwan and Suk Joon showdown with Haeng Ah in the middle of all that.

I did... the setup felt very fragmented. Some things felt pretty contrived from the start (she loses her big fat suitcase? sorry, but the way she 'lost' it just struck me as her being super-dumb) and, to be honest, I was mostly bored by the first episode.

yeah, I wasn't expecting that particular turn of events from Sassy Go Go, and as people pointed out, it ties in pretty well with events from the episode where Yeol was falsely accused and no one believed in him except Ha-joon and Yeon-doo (makes sense the kids wouldn't want to do the same thing to a girl who was suicidal, even if she's tried to ruin them). I love how the drama has callbacks to its previous episodes, and this was a good one.

about the thing with Soo Ah:

we have a very famous childrens´ movie Nukitsamees, where the main point, the main song and the message is "Head lapsed kasvavad vitsata, arm aitab enam kui hirm" (good kids grow without whip, love is a better teacher than fear). I quoted a verse from a song by Olav Ehala, just in case of copyright matters
I can´t find the song online though, it is called Vitsalaul (song of a whip)
and there is this little troll and two kids who represent two different approaches (also, the troll kids mom is an actual witch, just like Soo Ah´s)

Hey, beanies! It's been a while since I was so happy that it's finally Friday! A long and tiring week.
I've been feeling a bit down, the weather is terrible & gloomy, the book I was reading (a biography of Francoise Sagan) was getting depressing, Reply 1994 that I've been watching had me crying every episode... I was desperately in need of some fluff.. So I started browsing Viki... Oh, what's that? A new Taiwanese drama? Yes, please, I need some cheesiness. So I ended up breezing through the first 3 eps of Bromance and boy is it gloriously cheesy, riddled with cliches... and (un)surprisingly addictive. I laugh at myself for watching and liking it, but at least Megan Lai is convincing at playing a man.

Hello Beanies!!

Currently watching

Sassy Go Go - Our main OTP is just pure love! Their smile and basically their relationship as friends and as a couple is something that I truly admire! Kudos to the writer, please don't ruin the last two episodes!

She Was Pretty - I dont know why, but I dropped it somewhere episode 9. Something just didn't click anymore.

Bubblegum - I love Lee Dong Wook! I know he can sometimes be overacting and overbearing but the character kinda grows in you. Looking forward to this series with a little bit of caution. Loved the A Gentleman's Dignity interaction between the characters haha that was quite funny considering how opposite their roles were. HAHA

Still debating whether to watch Six Flying Dragons. First, I haven't watched a sageuk that long or basically any drama that long. I've skipped some episodes of All About my Mom because that weekend drama can do without some episodes, I think. But I want to see BYH act after Misaeng. or should I watch the Ex girlfriend with Song Ji Hyo to get my fix?

Will probably watch the first few episodes of Oh My Venus and Reply 1988.

Byun Yo Han is different every time. If you want to watch a light funny drama, then Ex-Girlfriend Club would be nice. He's lead character there so more airtime. In Six Flying Dragons, he shares the airtime between the other 5 dragons so you won't see him as much but what little he has, he makes the best out of. Every scene with Byun Yo Han in SFD gave me the feels, whether it's awe for his badass fight scenes (I heard he doesn't use a double!) or his heart-wrenching pass me the Kleenex scenes.

I'm somehow obsessed with Bubblegum

She was pretty - latest episodes feel like a filler, I don't really care what happens to Most

Sassy GoGo - so cute -) and I wonder why I feel sorry for Su Ah? is it because she's pretty or I can feel the preassure?

Achiara - kind of meh, I'm behind it

but recently I'm watching quite a lot of Japanese shows and I'm very glad, since it's the first time in several years =)

Suda Masaki is a talent to watch out for. I had a hunch from The Light Shines Only There (where he plays a supporting role that could easily be dismissed, but if you pay attention he really elevates it to something else). He was a riot (superb!) in Princess Jellyfish, and Tamiou fully showcases his acting talent. I've put the drama on hold for the moment for lack of subs – it deserves to be watched properly (not one episode one week, another three weeks later).

I believe he's as good as some of the best of his contemporaries – Sometani Shota, Kanata Hongo and Kamiki Ryunosuke.

As others have said, he's only recently been getting lead roles – although you'll find lots of stuff where he has small supporting roles.

Princess Jellyfish (film), The Light Only Shines There (film) and Tamiou (drama) are the ones I would start with. Mondai no Aru Restaurant is a good drama, but it's an ensemble and it's really the female cast that shines there.
