2015 SBS Drama Awards

Whee, there’s eye candy galore today, here in No. 2 of 3 of the broadcaster drama awards (KBS’s awards post is forthcoming), here at the 2015 SBS Drama Awards. This event had perhaps a smidge more starpower than last night’s MBC Drama Awards, which I attribute to SBS having had more hit dramas in the past year. It was also much more colorful a night in terms of fashion, which pleases me always, because on a basic level it’s just more fun looking at a page that’s full of color.

The night wasn’t without its tempests in teapots, mostly concerning certain awards omissions. Kim Rae-won lost out on the Daesang to Joo-won (more on that in a moment!) and was absent from the ceremony (he’s filming overseas), and his Punch co-star Seo Ji-hye accepted his Producer’s Award on his behalf. The confusion wasn’t that he didn’t get the Daesang—he was a strong contender, but not the only one—but that an MC had introduced the Top 10 Stars winners (which included names like Joo-won, Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Ji Jin-hee, and Jo Jae-hyun) as the Daesang candidates, and Kim Rae-won wasn’t on the Top 10 list.

So viewers jumped to the natural conclusion that he had been excluded from Daesang consideration entirely. And that inspired ire, since his performance in Punch was widely acknowledge to be excellent. (Not to mention that MBC had announced in the days before the ceremony that he was a Daesang nominee and had used his image to advertise the broadcast of the awards.) There was a flurry of confusion and SBS promised it would figure out what happened. There were a lot of news reports flying around today, and a lot of cynical fan responses.

Kim Rae-won wasn’t the only conspicuous omission from the awards, either: Kim Hee-ae (Mrs. Cop) and Su Ae (Mask) were also excluded from the Top 10 and big acting awards, and also absent from the ceremony. (Some speculate that the absences are the reason for their exclusions. C’mon, SBS, who do you think you are, the Daejongs?)

My first reaction at Joo-won winning the Daesang was surprise, but ultimately I’m not too taken aback because the likeliest candidates were him, Yoo Ah-in, and Kim Rae-won (with Kim Hyun-joo in the mix as a dark horse). None of them would have been big shockers, and while Punch had the most critical acclaim, the other two dramas were more mainstream hits, with Yong-pal making the bigger splash. Purely from a commercial standpoint, Yong-pal was a runaway success, and Joo-won was the driving force of the show (well, at least for the first half, before the story kind of put him in the backseat). It’s funny that it’s really not the best of his performances, but considering the circumstances, I can understand why the broadcaster made the political choice to reward their star, even if I don’t agree with the choice.

Congratulations, Joo-won (Yong-pal), on winning your first Daesang! Even though I wouldn’t have voted for you, you’re still a talented actor and super hard worker. Also you look really pretty tonight.

His co-star Kim Tae-hee (Yong-pal) is stunning—seriously, there are hi-def phots of her with close-ups a million pixels wide and her skin is flawless. I’m not sure the gown has tons of wow factor, but its understated sophistication works for her. It was easy finding photos of her to post because she’s beautiful in all of them, but hard narrowing them down to this set because they were all equally gorgeous.

Pinstripes! I love how boss Yoo Ah-in (Six Flying Dragons) looks—it’s half the dapper suit and half attitude. I love even more how happy and cheerful he is at the awards with finger-hearts for all.

I didn’t see Shin Se-kyung (Six Flying Dragons) on the red carpet, only at the show itself, which is a bummer because I would’ve loved some full-size glossy shots of her dress, which I’m pretty sure I’d like.

Byun Yo-han continues to rack up the awards, this time picking up an Excellence award for Six Flying Dragons. Rawr, sageuk scruff.

Yoon Kyun-sang had two SBS projects this year, relationship drama The Time I’ve Loved You and historical action series Six Flying Dragons. I am glad for him that he did one of them.

He of the flamboyant eyeshadow, Park Hyuk-kwon, was another award-winner for Six Flying Dragons. I didn’t see him over at the KBS awards, although he did have a recurring (and amusing) part in The Producers, playing the brown-noser PD.

Gong Seung-yeon pulled double-duty for SBS this year, first in Heard It Through the Grapevine and then Six Flying Dragons, which earned her a New Star award. In the tradition of rookie starlets everywhere, she came wearing white.

I remember when Kim Hyun-joo was the sweet leading lady type, but appreciate her so much more in this later stage of her career, being stronger and bolder. It’s also nice to hear how vocal fan support is for I Have a Lover, which is not a ratings hit but has a very fervent fanbase. She’s here with her co-star Ji Jin-hee, both of them looking very sharp. The red lace dress isn’t my favorite look on its own, but on her, she makes it command your attention.

Go Ah-sung earned an Excellence award for Heard It Through the Grapevine. Here she opts for a flowy black dress, which looks effortless and simple. I have to snort at her getting a New Star award since she’s been acting for the past decade, with some very high-profile roles (say, 2006’s The Host). But we all know how fluid these categorizations can be, at the broadcaster’s whim. They’re just award delivery systems, really!

Her Grapevine co-star Yoo Joon-sang won a Top Excellence award for the drama, and arrived at the red carpet with MC Lee Hwi-jae and High Society’s Im Ji-yeon.

Speaking of High Society, here’s Park Hyung-shik wearing a hunter-green tux jacket and looking smiley. He had reason to smile, picking up an Excellence award as well as a New Star award for that drama.

Jo Jae-hyun won a Top Excellence award for Punch, and while I’m surprised that SBS split the award for this category (they didn’t split anywhere else), I can see how they didn’t want to exclude either Jo Jae-hyun or Yoo Joon-sang and just decided to give them both the award. I can’t argue against either one.

Okay, this color. It’s probably really pretty in real life, right? I’m sure Seo Ji-hye (Punch) isn’t color-blind or sartorially challenged, and that this greenish-poopy-brown just photographs badly, yes? Let’s go with that.

I like this choice on Choi Myung-gil, award-winner for Punch—it’s got just enough color to be interesting, but not garish, and the fit is great.

Aw, Ohn Joo-wan is adorable. He has that kind of face that can be stony and cold when he’s being stern, but turns into boyish giddiness once he smiles. He had two SBS projects this year, both of them well-received: first Punch, then Village: Secret of Achiara.

With that, let’s hop over to the Village crew…

Moon Geun-young! I don’t even care about what she’s wearing, I barely even register it—it’s vaguely long and black, I think—because I am in the throes of debilitating hair envy. I love everything about this edgy angled bob, and am super jealous that the hair is on her head and not mine. Let’s pretend that didn’t come out as creepy as it did.

Her Village co-star, Yook Sung-jae, had to put in appearances at two ceremonies this night, since he also had a successful run in a KBS show (Who Are You—School 2015). At least actors can get away with a quick jacket swap! Yook Sung-jae has this really endearingly offbeat energy about him, which makes him such a cute dork that you forget he has idol roots. He did a whole New Year’s bow on the red carpet, which is why he’s doubled over in that picture.

Jang So-yeon was also in Heard It Through the Grapevine, but she was particularly memorable in Village, where she was super creepy, suspicious, sly, and compelling as that smirky pharmacist.

Cute. Lee Yeol-eum’s Village role was relatively small compared to the others, but that show had a way of making every character significant. I love this choice of dress, which is flirty and youthful in a different way.

Okay, Joo Ji-hoon (Mask) you win. You’re wearing a two-colored polka-dotted tuxedo and it’s super awesome, despite how that sounds on paper, and I love it love it love it. There’s just something so quirky and unexpected about it, combined with the sharp lines and sleek fit, and I’m all about it. I would even give him the edge over Yoo Ah-in’s snazzy pinstripes, but really, why choose when you can put them together onstage and in the same frame?

I am trying to decide whether this dress is the right length on Yoo In-young (Mask), or if it is a few inches too short, because it flares out and just stops at her ankles. If I ignore the feet, I think she’s perfectly styled, all sleek and fresh-looking. I know the blunt bangs were for her character in Oh My Venus, but she looks so much better with them out of her face.

Yeon Jung-hoon (Mask) should never play nice guys again. He should only play bad guys and villains and morally corrupt characters—and if he must flirt with the good side, he has to at least have a tortured soul or dark past or drink your blood or something. He was delicious in Mask, and gave that show a large part of its guilty-pleasure-esque tawdry appeal.

I am guessing the memo tonight for the Mask cast was all-black. Here’s Kim Ji-min, who had a smallish role playing one of the employees of the house who served Su Ae’s character, though she’s more of a gag comedian in her other projects.

I would love this if only for the bright canary yellow color, but as it happens, it’s also a flattering, dramatic, and fresh gown that really makes Chae Jung-won (Witch’s Castle) pop on the red carpet. Probably my favorite dress of the night.

And here’s her Witch’s Castle co-star Seo Ji-seok, who is wearing a white tie that completely fades against that white shirt.

There was, of course, an obligatory abundance of white dresses, though. Jin Kyung (The Time I’ve Loved You) adds a fuzzy (furry?) jacket to her look, which seems smart to me since I’m pretty sure it’s freezing.

I feel like the split outer layer on this dress worn by Lee Elijah, a New Star award recipient for The Return of Hwang Geum-bok), wastes the effect by making everything the same color. I want to like the design more than I do, I think, but overall it’s an inoffensive look.

You may not recognize the name Bae Hae-sun, but I bet if I said “that batshit crazy nurse in Yong-pal” you’d remember her right away. She had a way of being simultaneously hateful and obsessively-in-love with Kim Tae-hee in that show that was really interesting, and certainly memorable. It turns out that Yong-pal is actually her first drama, but she’s no newbie, doing most of her work on the musical theater stage.

Jeon Mi-sun is always in a bunch of dramas, and she also had a project over at KBS (Who Are You—School 2015), but she’s here for her daily drama The Return of Hwang Geum-bok, which netted her an acting award.

Okay, I have to know what the designer of this tux was thinking, because Jung Eun-woo (The Return of Hwang Geum-bok) looks like he’s wearing a bathrobe masquerading as a jacket, right? Or a smoking jacket befitting of the Hef?

I’m going to date myself with this reference, but Lee Da-hee totally reminds me of that time Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore matching denim formalwear to the VMAs. Not specifically in the design or anything, but just in the overall effect—I don’t really know if I love the dress itself, but it fits like a glove and she stands out in that cornflower blue, so let’s call it a win. (She got an award for Mrs. Cop, which I won’t begrudge her for, but does make me look askance at the omission of Kim Hee-ae, since she was the one who carried that show.)

Sohn Ho-joon was given a New Star award for Mrs. Cop, and I like that it seems he’s ever so gradually getting more comfortable at formal events. Though he’ll always be an adorable country bumpkin to me. *squeeze*

Hee! The first thought I had upon seeing one of my favorite veteran ajusshis, Ahn Gil-kang (Shine or Go Crazy), was that his outfit totally looks like the one Ji-soo wore yesterday. Do you suppose they shopped at the same tux emporium? Go ahead, find Ji-soo, I’ll wait for you to compare.

Lee Seung-joon is one of those actors who’s usually cast as best friends, secretaries, sidekicks and the like—and he usually does an awesome job so that he’s more than just that friend/secretary/sidekick. He was an endearing secretary to Hyun Bin earlier this year in SBS’s Hyde, Jekyll, Me, but I particularly enjoyed him as Lee Dong-wook’s BFF in tvN’s Bubblegum.

This is a total 180 from the head-to-toe black look worn by Kim Yoo-jung (Angry Mom, also SBS’s Inki Gayo) last night. I didn’t hate the black, but I do think she looks much brighter and fresher here in this dusty rose. It must be fun to have multiple back-to-back events to attend, giving a young star opportunity to play with dramatic contrasts.

Lee Kyu-han (I Have a Lover) keeps it traditional with his classic tux and black bowtie.

Choi Jung-yoon’s last SBS drama just barely had a presence in 2015—Cheongdam-dong Scandal wrapped on January 2. She opts for a flared black gown with statement red lip.

Can you hear Jang Hyun-sung (Heard It Through the Grapevine) plotting to backstab you, or sell you up the river, or throw you under the bus from all the way over there? ‘Cause he will, you know.

Speaking of perpetual villains, Namgoong Min should really become one. He revitalized his career and reinvented his image with one SBS drama this year (Girl Who Sees Smells), then went and one-upped himself with yet another (Remember—Son’s War, in which he’s even more villainous and scary). I don’t even care if he ends up typecast as a villain, if being a villain means he gets to keep plumbing his inner darkness and going all twisty and intense on us. Never be nice again, Namgoong Min!

Yoon Jin-seo was his co-star in Girl Who Sees Smells, and I don’t suppose I have too much to say about this off-the-shoulder gown on her. I like her more than I like it, let’s just say.

I am trying very hard to decide what to feel about this dress on Park Han-byul (I Have a Lover, though she also had a guest part in Girl Who Sees Smells). Do I like it because it’s interesting, or do I dislike it because it’s nutballs? Do I like it because she looks great in it, or does she look great in it because she’s pretty and it’s in no way related to the dress, whose crazy she manages to overcome? Scroll up. Scroll down. Up. Down. Can’t decide. Thoughts?

Kim Rae Won Deserves Daesang than joo won, theer wan's anything special in yong pal,I don't know thay have personl vendetta with Kim Rae Won, he didn't get a single award for his performances, here also only PD award, kind a pitiful. it was good he didn't come to get it. from baeksan to all award ceremonies are now a piece of trash in korea.
i think tat is why now there dramas are too horrible o watch, no versatile actor would act because of this unfair awards giving.

Here's someone feeling bad for KIM MYUNG-MIN. Talent has never been wasted this much.

On the other hand, I HAVE A LOVER fanatics join hands. I cannot seriously believe how gorgeous Ji Jin-hee and Kim Hyun-joo are together.

I just watched Miss Kim's Million Dollar quest. They click very naturally. And that's a pure comedy. Then I check on IHAL again. They are beautiful and unbelievably compatible on-screen.

Chae Jong Won - wow. Stunning. Does this woman not age? Actually, I could say that about the whole cast of Seven Chil Princesses (which I loved so much back in the day). That started my fervent love of Park Hae Jin, but Lee Tae Ran and Lee Seung Gi also still look dewy and young and adorable I don't understand. (And the older gen. looks the same too haha).

Kim Yoo Jung is absolutely gorgeous *__*

The winners do make me sigh a bit, but nobody's surprised that the cash cows are rewarded I guess.

Yes she is. Another gorgeous young lady is Kim So-Hyun.

Both are so talented. Only 16, they can look forward to long careers. Two future super stars.

How can Park Hyung Shik and Im Ji Yeon not win best couple? They practically made that drama with their adorable pairing and amazing chemistry.

Yong Pal was good but the leads had zero chemistry.
It boogles my mind that they won best couple over PHS and IJY.

Well some people will always criticize no matter what. I feel reallybad for kim rae won to not get any award ab loosing out to Daesang but joo won deserved every bit of it. Yes yong pal would not have been the best show of the year but joo won's acting was just par brilliance. We all cannot deny the fact that he's outstanding actor and all his hardwork had to be recognised. And his speech was so beautiful and sad. He just became popular this year and this Daesang was not cis of his popularity but because of his hardwork and determination I guess. If not he wpuld have gotten a Daesang for good doctor where his performance was far far more better than yong pal. If you want to talk about popularity awards lers just talk about kim soo hyun robbing all the awards from ji sun and joo won for his role for producer. That is called popularity award!
As per for kim tae hee, people who are criticizing her should watch her performance in yong pal. She had improved hundred times than her previous dramas. She basicalky caried the second half of the show and pretty much nailed it!
I so glad byun yo han receiving the award. He was my fav in misaeng and I loved him in ex girlfriend club!
Sad soo ae and kim hee ae and lee joon didn't win any awards. I would choose lee joon over park hyung shik for the excellence award.
And lastly yoo ah in! Damn that sexy man. I was not the only one who was waiting for the secret love affair couple reunion hus right? Just why didn't kim hee ae come man. Not only yoo ah in's speech was awesome, it was so sweet of him to enjoy others speech. His smile when joo won was delivering his speech half crying and clapping for him was soo sweet. It made me respect him more!
Over all I just hope joo won doesn't get the hate for his sleepless nights and hardwork. Lets the man enjoy his moment for once. He had been waiting and giving his best performance for this recognition since gaksital I suppose. Merech love and strength to him.

did you really watch the award show?

Lee joon if nominated will not be in the same category with hyungsik. so how can he win over hyungsik for excellence award.

unless lee joon can win over ju ji hoon. they would be in the same category which he won't win as the contenders were stronger than him in that category.

I will just copy past my last comment because I'm so annoyed by this kind of comment.

@nikie Are you kidding me? Hyung Sik doesn't deserve the award according to you but Kim Tae Hee does *SMH* Kim Hee Ae and Ha Ji Won are far better actresses. Kim Hee Ae should have won.Period.

Why should Lee Joon won over Park Hyung Sik when he wasn’t even nominated in this category to begin with…

Nominees for Excellence Award-Mini Series Males:

Kim Min Jong (Mrs Cop)- Kim Hee Ae was the star while Son Ho Joon has his breakthrough role.
Sung Joon (High Society)- completely overshadowed by the winner of the category in this drama.
Yeon Woo Jin (Divorce Lawyers in love)- way better in TVN’s drama ‘Marriage not dating’
Park Hyung Sik (High Society)- He deserves this award because he basically carried the drama in his shoulders with Im Ji Yeon. He was good. He’s one of the best idol when it comes to acting (Lee Joon, SiWan, Sooyoung,Yoochun are excellent too)

Moreover Lee Joon’s drama (Heard It Through the Grapevine) was 30 episodes long, it should have competed in ‘Excellence Award-Long Drama Male’ which went to Byun Yo Han (so deserving, I was so happy) or ‘Excellence Award-Mid Length Drama Male’ that went to Joo Ji Hoon (talented as well)
I love Lee Joon but there’s no way he’s a better actor than Byun Yo Han and Joo Ji Hoon.

Kim Myung Min didn’t get any awards either and you don’t see me complaining about it.
Awards being Awards, it’s not always the most deserving that get awarded (Oscars are just the same)

Congrats to all the winners :)

I agree with you esp on the Kim So Hyun part. He really is this industry's golden boy, they love to award him so much lol.

And yes yes yes to Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee getting their awards, esp Joo Won. They really worked hard and KTH really carried the later part of the show. Walked away a fan of them both! :D

I really wanted Kim Rae Won or Kim Hyun Joo to win daesang!

Joo Won is good too, but let me emphasized as someone who watched Yong Pal , this was not his best performance. Unlike his co-star, Kim Tae Hee, i can say Yong Pal was her best perfomance in her acting career! I can bravely say her acting deserve an award, and please dont always say Joo Won carried the entire show by his own, Joo Won & Kim Tae Hee both contributed. Maybe we already got used for him to carry his previous dramas by his own, like Gaksital. But not in Yong Pal.

As for Soo Ae not even nominated, i was quite perplexed. Mask was one of the great drama too, seeing Soo Ae's name was not there made me a little bit confused. Kim Rae Won not winning also saddened me. Why why why..

But i am glad I Have A Lover stars like Kim Hyun Joo and Ji Jin Hee won awards despite of poor rating. ?

The only thing is, Joo Won is great too but i was rooting for him to get Top Excellence together with Yoo Ah In. I really wanted Kim Rae Won wins daesang! How sad. ?

SBS award sure was tough on 2015 because
So many good dramas and we will want to give award to everyone!

Plus, dressess in SBS award were less boring and have more colours compared to MBC. I love the yellow dress!

It's sad I want Lee Jin Wook and Ha Ji Won win as best couple so sad and aslo Soo Ae is the best but they didn't credit her like best couple etc.. :( :( sometimes not all about rating to think Achiara rating? But Moon Geun Young pick them and Moon Geun Young deserve it too ... I was wondering if their an actor had an awards like last year Daesang and then now possible to have an award like top excellence awards or special.. Maybe it hard to give them an awards like excellence award which he became Daesang the top of all and many expectation ... Wondering what will happen for those who won Daesang hoping for Joo Won and Ji sung the best of all this Year 2016 whatever happen I'm stick to them because I believe their talents, that luck came from hard work...Fighting !!! 2016

love her yellow dress! yellow can be awfully tricky to pull off, especially for asians, but she looks perfect in it. it's a really vibrant, bright yellow and it goes well with her brighter skin tone. reminds me that i've got a silk tank top in that exact shade of yellow that i've never worn... hmm i should go yank it out...

Don't take it so seriously, it's just an award show from the channel broadcasters. MGY won daesang years ago and now just winning excellence actress. They are rushing to give the pre-military boys some recognition before they disappear. When they come back they will be in the same position as KRW - old and forgotten.

As someone who watched Yong pal, i dont think Joo Won deserve daesang over other contestants. Kim Tae Hee was really brilliant in Yong Pal, and do not always think that Joo Won carried the whole show for his own. They carried it together.

I feel bitter for Kim Rae Won not winning daesang, i was hoping either Kim Rae Won or Kim Hyun Joo wi win.

Anyway glad that I Have A Lover got the recognition despite of poor rating.

CONGRATULATIONS to my girl crush Kim tae hee. She definitely deserve it for her flawless performance in yonpal. 2015 is a blessed year for her compared to 2013. And to my other crushes, yoo ah in, joo won and moon geun young, you all are winners no matter what they say.

Congrats to all winners! Joowon is one of the top actors in his generation. Its sad that joowon's first daesung in my opinion was undeserving. I am also surprised that his first daesung was not from kbs.

Dear Mark. If I am sick in the head, then what about the other supporters of kim rae won and soo Aee as well other much qualified actress and actresses such as the won who acted with ji jin hee? are they the same too?I have no problem with joo won acting and personality but for me but this latest drama by him in sbs is just mediocre

Congratulations to Joo Won for the daesang! I didn't watch Yongpal, but he is a really good actor and has always impressed me (memories of Gaksital are still so clear, loved that drama).

That being said, however, as much as I like Joo Won and am genuinely congratulating him, I really thought that it wouldn't be a question for Kim Rae Won to win the Daesang or at least Top Excellence. Punch is one of my favorite dramas, not only of this year, but of all time because of how well-written the show was, and Kim Rae Won was fantastic. His acting was impeccable and although I'm sure he must have received a lot of love from the viewers, I would have really really loved to see him win the Daesang. Awards shows always have their ways and aren't the ONLY means of recognizing actors' hard work, but.... this was so disappointing to me. I am not sure if there are any other awards shows coming up but I would love to see him win something to get that extra bit of recognition he deserves.

Aside from that, definitely agree about how good everyone looks on the red carpet - and congrats to all of the other actors.

I have a weird question. Why is Namgoong Min's name like that? I would have thought it would be Nam Goong-Min. Is his first name Min? Or Goong-Min?

His family name is Namgoong, first name is Min. It's one of those rare Korean family names with 2 characters instead of one, so I guess his parents gave him a single character first name to form a 3-character name.

saw the awards 2015 from MBC, KBS and SBS in honest the awarding were about in the popularity and unfairly awards so disappointed hope 2016 the awarding was deserving to the nominees and even to the winners I respect if the other here not satisfied to Joowon on deasang award but in his acting in Yong Pal he is good, not because of the popularity of his drama but I see he worked so hard to it, I'm not say he is very deserving but I'm so touched in his acting, for me 50/50 I appreciate his good acting and I'm sad if the awards is for popularity but overall I will congratulate Joowon no matter what because he is great actor but hope his next awards is very deserving and accepting of the people. The awards is unfair but for the other winners are not like Moon Geun Young of SBS, kim so hyun for new actress of KBS and Park Seo Joon of MBC and the other veterans actors and actress.

Punch has made me wrote a so very long essay of appreaciation in my personal blog and that must be something considering how a lazy blogger i am. Too bad he didn't win but i believe netizen's rage is (hopefully) enough to prove how a great actor Kim Rae Won is.

Honestly, i feel more dissapointed that Park Ji Young (the girl plays Yerin in Punch) doesn't get any award. Is there no child actor awards in this? And Kim Myung Min!! His screen presence is sick and still managed to wow me even when i am most of the time blinded by Byun Yo Han. Yoo Ah In is great but KMM is as great considering his character in SFD.

And how i love Byun Yo Han getting awards!! I wish he will stay saeguk-scruffy from now on. I saw his clean, non-scruff face picture the other day and miss the facial hair right away.

Come to think about it, i watch quite many of sbs drama this year comparing to other network. They have it quite good in 2015 i guess.

I haven't seen any of Lee Elijah's works, but the rest of the group for the New Star awards are quite promising. Go Ah Sung isn't a new star anymore, but since they called up all those young stars, they couldn't leave her out either.

I really like Joo Won and I'm happy for his win in the sense that he does have the acting chops. He was the reason I watched Yongpal, but that drama lost steam halfway and didn't turn out to be what I expected. So, if attendance is the key to these awards, then that really sucks for those actors who turned in amazing performances but couldn't show up for legit reasons.

Happy to see JJH in his fashionable attire and nabbing an award. I liked him and Soo Ae in Mask. NGM should definitely do more villain roles. XD I enjoyed Yoochunnie and SSK in The Girl Who Sees Smells, but NGM made that drama even more exciting to watch. =P

Kim Hyun Joo is very good in her dual role. The story is not of my type of genres but she commands attention. She is delivering a grand daesang-caliber performance. Her daughter in the drama deserves recognition as well. There was no best child actor award that evening. Many actors in villain roles delivered better performances than the actors in protagonists. I will pick Yeon Jeong-Hun's performance over Ju Ji-Hoon's. Even Shin Eun-Kyung's performance over Moon Geun Young's one despite the fact that I cheer for MGY. The Ensemble of Six Flying Dragons deserve daesang for an ensemble if there is such. It is a shame that the actors of this drama had to be pitted against each other. I have to review Yoo Ah In's performance here again since I do not remember scenes with powerful delivery as Kim Myung-Min's.

Park Han-byul dress is hideous.

But I think the best dresses were Lee Da-hee's and Lee Elijah's. Love the color and fitted, yet sexy leg slit on LDH's dress and the belt really off-sets it. Love the flowy look on LE's dress and the cut.

I have been disappointed with SBS Drama Awards since 2013. They choose the daesang winner based on the drama popularity and not REAL TALENT. I don't care how much Heirs was sooooo popular when I think it is just so overrated. How can a cliche story of rich guy poor girl beats a classy melodrama on human conflict and development? Just unacceptable! I don't care if others like Heirs more than TWWB, but I just can't accept that they choose Lee Min-ho with his cliche acting and character for daesang than Jo In-sung's amazing expression, depths, experience & being able to pull of complex character with development. When I finished that... I... can't... even... I haven't watched PUNCH but when I read others' comments I thought this is 2013 again. Joo-won was good in Bridal Mask, Good Doctor but Yong Pal for me was mediocre and like a waste of talent for Joo Won. He became the side at the second half. I watched Mask and I thought that drama was wayyy better but Yong Pal got better ratings like WHAT??? WHY?
Sorry for the rant. I have been keeping it in for a long time.

Super late comment but I'm currently watching Fantastic and I got curious about Kim Hyun Joo's past works that I ended up watching I Have A Lover while waiting for new episodes of Fantastic. Boy was she amazing in that drama!! It's too bad the show didn't do so great ratings-wise but I'm glad it had a devoted fanbase despite its ratings. The classic drama tropes and adultery theme may have been what turned people off but it's actually pretty addicting if you give it a try. I'm happy Kim Hyun Joo won several awards for it. She was phenomenal in her triple role and she and Ji Jin Hee had killer chemistry!

Yoo Ah In seemed to like Kim Tae Hee when they worked together in JOJ, and they were comfortable with each other. But when I saw SBS 2015, both YAI and KTH are very cold toward each other even they were in the same stage. Maybe someting happened between them?
