Oh Snap! Jung Yong-hwa wore this outside

And to Milan Men’s Fashion Week in Italy for a Gucci fashion show, no less. Sigh. This might just be one of those times where I fail to wrap my puny brain around the concept that is FASHION. For what it’s worth though, Jung Yong-hwa rocks it. Whatever it is.

It’s not technically a photoshoot, but Elle Korea took these snaps of the first male Korean celebrity to be invited to this specific catwalk. The star seems to be breaking barriers all over the place, since he’ll also be the first Korean celebrity to be featured on the cover of this month’s Elle China.

All that embroidery, LOL. The little flower bowtie is adorable though! In a slightly cringey way, but still adorable X3

it's adorable but they have taken flower boy concept too seriously ...

I didn't even notice the bow tie! All I could think of was the pineapple/dying sunflower accent points at the end of the sleeves stood out too much.

See the thing is, I don't think he rocks it at all. He looks really gaunt in these pics - someone please feed this boy!!!

Now, for someone who has been rocking the hell out of some weird fashions lately, check out pics of Kang Dong Won over the past few months while promoting his latest movie. That man has rocked everything from your grandma's doilies to discarded costumes from period Japanese movies to bathrobes. He somehow looks sexy in all of it. Crazy.

yeah, he looks underfed. And short. (how tall is he, anyway?)

Kang Dong-won has been blowing crazy out of the water on his promo rounds for The Priests and A Violent Prosecutor, but he could basically give everyone a masterclass in how to pull things off.

(and I certainly can't write down the exact thoughts I had at the sight of him in his zippered leather trousers and heels at The Priests press conference, because I'm pretty sure those thoughts aren't PG)

I'm with you. I have had very un-PG thoughts too while looking at Kang Dong Won dressed in utter fashion disasters. I think they involved getting him out of those fashion disasters quickly. ;)

180cm. he looks short all the time especially when he stands between his bandmates, but he is not that short (but still shorter than most models). I remember that he went to Milan just few hours after he arrived from the USA, yikes, so pardon the face~~~

Totally agree! This is disastrous and utterly awkward. He isn't pulling it off well and the face...he needs sleep or makeup!

Oh, THAT'S where my grandmother's curtains went! I can't see a woman wearing that mess, much less a man. I have to agree that he rocks the thing though, even if it looks like he's being choked and smothered by flowers.

I like the pattern. A matching suit is too much, but if it were just the jacket I would defy all the floral haters and say it looks good.

Agree. Just the jacket with something contrasting would be ok. But it's too fussy and matchey as-is.

The flower at the neckline of a peter pan collar and the "x marks the spot" on the trousers, all tries to be too cute. It's a pretentious design that's too self-aware.

I'm with you, the jacket alone is good. The pants make it seem like too much.

I would love the suit a lot more if it was dark blue. And if the trouser legs weren't that long.

It's a hideous abomination and I don't think he wears it well. He looks so awkward in these pictures.

I also don't get a lot of the fashion I see in these kdramas. Some suits the men wear are so horrid and the outfits the women wear looks like a blind cat designed them. You will have the 'make-over' scene and get excited for the new outfit the heroine will wear and then they reveal this awful outfit. I really don't get some of Korea's high fashion.

I'm not a fan of the pants. If it fitted his legs more nicely and had no embroidery, I think it would had look better. But hey, at least he got to wear Gucci.

When you go to a Gucci show, you wear Gucci. The life of fashion show celebrities. I don't particularly love this suit but the fact that Gucci had him wear it, means that he's in the radar of more than just k-pop. And for his success, I'm thrilled. Go Yong Hwa!!!!

I agree with you. As much as this is too much for me (to see), hey it's Gucci. I will pray that in the future he will be saved from anything similar to this (or worse). Fighting Yong!

I'm not sure the shirt does it justice.

I think something closer to the color of the pineapples on his sleeves would make the outfit pop!

The stitch doesn't seem right. The pants are too long for his legs and they are ill fitting. This is so wrong..I don't care if its Gucci.

Don't hate the suit fabric. Jacket fit seems okay, but the trousers don't seem to fit well. Don't like the shirt at all. Together with the flower pin, long bangs - they seem to be trying to aim for some sort of cherubic, innocent boy look and that doesn't work at all. Ends up feeling chintzy as well.

I feel like a proud mom when I read this post. I don't follow him or his band but I've known him since You're Beautiful, and I'm just really happy to see how far he has come. I'm just glad that he's getting more recognition internationally and I wish for his success.

I think he looks so cutely handsome and elegant in that suit. I think the flower tie is cute too for the occasion. He wears the Gucci suit really well even though the suit appears somewhat overwhelming in motifs. I totally agree the statement "For what it’s worth though, Jung Yong Hwa rocks it." I am happy to see this very talented singer-songwriter-actor-frontman of Korean band CNBLUE, and winner of 2015 Voice of Elle was invited to grace the occasion. People should check out his solo album "ONE FINE DAY".

I think fashion is all about expressing yourself. If it makes you feel good and confident, then go for it! It's certainly not the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. I think people don't understand that it's just another firm of art to many people.

i get that he was trying to make a fashion statement, but i don't like it... i don't want to be mean, especially since height is such a huge thing with guys, but he's too short for the outfit. the pants are almost puddling around his ankles. maybe if the pants had been better fitted/more tapered, it might have worked better.

i could see kang dong-won in this kind of get up, and looking good in it. not because he's a handsome face (i don't really get the appeal, at least not to the level of praise he always gets), but because he's tall and has the proportions/build of a male model. you seriously have to be very tall and leggy to pull off most fashion statements...

I don't like the oversize pants, he looks short even though he's not that short (179-180cm), and his hairstyle, it makes him like a cutie pie, I think he should up his hair (I love his hairstyle in marry him if you dare) to match the suit.

and the elle china cover! OMG, his side profile!! he looks so handsome, his face structure is never change since before debut

I really think this suit is not working, plus his vertically-challenged height is a minus point.

Met yonghwa before and I think he is pretty short, so definitely no, this outfit does not cut it.

This suit is actually a throw back to the designs of country western suit designer Nudie Cohn. Nudie Cohn designed suits similar to this for Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Gene Autry and other old-time American country western music stars. He also designed clothes for ZZ Top and Cher. Really, this is a perfect example of how most designers now are just reworking old ideas.

I like the suit parts separately, but each should be worn with solid color separates to make the look modern. They were obviously not tailored for him for this photo shoot. The dude needs some platform shoes, hair off the face, guyliner and A LOT of fierce attitude to carry this look off.

I googled "Gucci floral suit men" and based on the results that came up.... uh.... well... eh.

What I can I say. What some people spend their money on...???

http://messmag.com/?p=11990 <= Apparently the pants are supposed to be baggy and long, the high colored bluish shirt comes with the suit and the hideous flower bow tie thing comes with the suit. If you look at the line above with the red flower child guy model, apparently Jung Yong-hwa made a better choice than what he might have... :) There apparently is a bright spring green version of the suit with bright yellow shoes with flowers on them...

Maybe it would have looked better if he'd ditched the tie and left a couple buttons open? Let his poor throat breathe a little...

Yonghwa can do whatever he pleases, imo. He's changing the world for the better, every day, and I absolutely adore him.

He gives us everything; I'm happy to give him my nearly-unconditional support, in return.

This Gucci suit (probably not his, and definitely more palatable than most Gucci male fashion) doesn't even bear mentioning in the scheme of things. Yonghwa always looks his gorgeous, unique, self -- wardrobe notwithstanding.

I'd much rather spend time re-watching the delectable trailers for his film debut. (Can't wait for that!)

May 2017 bring peace (and drama, of course) to us all!
