One More Happy Ending: Episode 5

Whatever is a guy to do, when his best friend is dating the woman he likes? That’s right, make a complete fool out of himself at every opportunity, of course. He can’t admit his feelings, but he also gave up any claim on her, so all he can do is flail at the situation he created. I would feel bad for Soo-hyuk if this situation wasn’t entirely his own fault, and if watching him squirm wasn’t so damn fun.

EPISODE 5 RECAP

A young Mi-mo throws rocks at fish in a stream, and young Soo-hyuk stops skipping awkwardly when he sees her. They shoot each other adorable shy smiles, but something annoys Mi-mo and she suddenly throws a rock at Soo-hyuk. She calls him an idiot and says he’s supposed to throw rocks, and cross the stream on the stepping stones.

Confused, Soo-hyuk consults his little friend Hyun-gi, who says that maybe it was a code. Was he supposed to hit on her by throwing stones like she was doing? He advises Soo-hyuk to throw the biggest, shiniest stone at Mi-mo, and finds him a pretty painted stone to give her, and a wreath of flowers.

But it’s raining by the time Soo-hyuk finds Mi-mo again, and she’s sitting under a gazebo with an adorkably bow-tied Hae-joon. Soo-hyuk watches, mouth agape, while Mi-mo cuddles up to Hae-joon, and his temper starts to flare. He growls that she threw a rock at him first, and now she’s flirting with someone else.

We rejoin Soo-hyuk and Mi-mo in the hallway between their apartments, Soo-hyuk drunk as a skunk and Mi-mo straddling his lap. He takes her face in his hands and leans in, eyes locked on her lips… and passes out.

Which is how Soo-hyuk’s son Min-woo finds them. HAHAHAoops. He crosses his arms like a disappointed father, and demands an explanation. Mi-mo tries to wake Soo-hyuk (“This is making me look bad!”) but he’s out like a light. Min-woo makes sure she’s not putting the moves on his dad or planning to rob them, and enlists her help in getting Soo-hyuk inside.

Min-woo gets some juice to thank Mi-mo, and she notes how mature he is for his age — unlike his dad. She notices that the place is practically wallpapered with photos of the father and son duo, and when she finds out Min-woo ate dinner alone, he says not to pity him. He lives in a beautiful apartment and his dad spoils him rotten. But his eyes do look a little sad, and he says he needs to find a woman — not to be his mother, but for his dad. Awww, that’s sweet.

Mi-mo’s friends are still at Ae-ran’s place in their animal onesies, and Ae-ran and Da-jung talk about Ae-ran’s upcoming marriage. Ae-ran balefully admits that she was swayed by the big diamond and the expectations of her friends and family, but Da-jung wishes her a happy marriage anyway.

Da-jung says that she felt anxious for the entire first five years of her own marriage, and for the last seven years she’s just been a mother. Ae-ran says it will be the same for her, and once they get married they’ll just get used to each other. Dong-mi is passed out drunk, so she misses the text from her failed date apologizing for not showing up.

Mi-mo goes back to see Min-woo with food for Soo-hyuk, and reminds him to keep their door locked. Awww, even the little mini-Romeo looks taken aback by her.

Soo-hyuk looks like seven miles of bad road in the morning, and Min-woo is already heating up the hangover soup from Mi-mo. Soo-hyuk cringes when he remembers calling her a promiscuous goldfish to her face, and nearly cries when Min-woo says she was sober — no hope that she won’t remember.

So of course he runs right into Mi-mo on their way out for the day, resulting in the most awkward elevator ride ever. He literally jumps when she asks him if he remembers harassing her the night before, and denies it. She says if he’s really that lonely, to come see her and she’ll find him a nice match. Oh ouch.

At work Soo-hyuk finds the unfiled marriage registration form still in his pocket, and gets caught by Hyun-gi and Ah-ni. He claims that he and a friend just did it for fun while drunk, but it’s interesting that he refuses to let Hyun-gi destroy it.

In a meeting later, their boss asks about a rumor he heard, that some woman created a scene on the day they shot photos for their expose on Seul-ah’s engagement. Hyun-gi had already gone to see his child be born, and Soo-hyuk feigns ignorance, saying that the disturbance was actually about a diner’s reaction to bad food.

His boss doesn’t quite buy it, because other magazines are reporting otherwise. He orders Soo-hyuk to go back there and find out exactly what happened.

It’s Ae-ran’s wedding day, and she gets married, coincidentally, at the same hotel where Mi-mo confronted her ex and Seul-ah. Dong-mi is still texting Oven Guy, and he flirts right back which makes her day. Mi-mo assures Da-jung that she’s feeling just fine thank you, being at a wedding here.

But just as the ceremony is about to start, the door opens to admit six women, all dressed in sexy mourning black. Everyone is shocked, but the ceremony continues without another interruption. Apparently these are Dong-bae’s ex-girlfriends, and they line up to offer sarcastic well-wishes while Ae-ran scowls and pinches Dong-bae’s arm.

Soo-hyuk ends up at the hotel’s restaurant at the same time, and he asks the waitress if a lot of reporters come here lately. I’m pretty sure he actually bats his eyelashes at her, which works, and she points out one reporter who’s been coming here every day.

Ae-ran has a full-on temper tantrum up in the honeymoon suite, throwing things at Dong-bae and screaming at him for letting her be humiliated. He stands his ground and refuses to apologize — after all, he broke up with all of those women. Except, he does admit that it was awfully recently, one of them only yesterday. Oh, you complete ass.

He’s a totally different person now, and tells Ae-ran that he only married her to make his family stop pressuring him. He married Ae-ran as a shield, so people would stop calling him a womanizer. He genuinely didn’t think she’d have a problem with it, being commitment-phobic just like him, and offers her an open marriage. Which honestly, wouldn’t actually have been terrible if he’d just talked to Ae-ran about it first and gotten her agreement.

Her friends listen outside the door and hear the whole sordid conversation, and Dong-mi has new appreciation for Geun-hak, who has remained faithful after seven years of a celibate marriage. Whoa. She encourages Da-jung to hang in there and not let him go.

Mi-mo decides to go visit her old kitchen informer, who she hasn’t heard from in a while. It turns out he’s off work today, but her old boyfriend Jung-hoon grabs her, thinking she’s there to cause another scene. He drags her to a secluded hallway and accuses her of following him around, already upset with reporters hanging around all the time.

On his way out Soo-hyuk hears the two arguing, and sees Jung-hoon raise his hand as if to hit Mi-mo. But he doesn’t interfere, as Mi-mo seems to be handling herself just fine. The confrontation ends and Jung-hoon walks away, but Mi-mo just can’t let him have the last word, and she throws her shoe at his head.

She goes at Jung-hoon as if to fight for real, but Soo-hyuk sees the reporter and quickly grabs her into a big hug, squealing about seeing his old friend and motioning for Jung-hoon to scram. HAHA. She storms out with Soo-hyuk right behind her, teasing that his hug flustered her and telling her that he liiiikes her.

He says that he won’t be coming to Mi-mo for matchmaking services, because only pathetic people do that. He says the time and effort that dating takes is important, which makes her bristle that he’s looking down on her profession. She says they aren’t close enough to be talking like this, and Soo-hyuk aegyos that sure they are — they kissed and even got almost-married.

He’s in a real mood, and says that she’s the first girl who saw his “thing,” and that he hasn’t been able to sleep since then. And then they hear laughter, and look up to see a whole busful of people listening to their conversation. HAHAHA.

Dong-mi finally gets her date with Oven Guy, and he apologizes again, then gets all intense about starting over from this moment. Dong-mi is so flustered by a simple touch on the hand, she can’t even speak.

Mi-mo has a date with Jae-hoon that night and tells him about Ae-ran’s marriage twist, and Jae-hoon figures it’s good she found out about Dong-bae’s true nature early. He advises Mi-mo to just give Ae-ran a hug if she cries to her, and takes Mi-mo’s hand sweetly.

But Ae-ran ends up at Dong-mi’s place instead, pouting for a place to stay and sympathy. Dong-mi lets her in, but yells that she was texting her new guy, and Ae-ran tells her to go ahead then… then spends the evening lighting her honeymoon lingerie on fire, ha.

Da-jung’s son tells her that they started sex ed at school today, and suddenly asks why she and Daddy don’t sleep together. She calls Mi-mo and says she feels so guilty and that he seemed to blame her, and Mi-mo says that kids these days are smarter than you’d think.

Soo-hyuk’s coworker Ah-ni goes to see Hae-joon — they also know each other from school. She tells him that Soo-hyuk turned her down even though he admitted there was a tiny something there, and Hae-joon says that even a small gap is still a gap.

We see Ah-ni back in school, watching new father Soo-hyuk (with baby Min-woo in tow, aww) across the classroom. She hears from a classmate that Min-woo’s mother died in childbirth, and they sigh over the romantic tragedy of his life. Soo-hyuk and Hae-joon had been in the same dance club, and Ah-ni had joined even though she was a terrible dancer.

Ae-ran can’t sleep and gets up to call Dong-bae, telling him that she’ll be going on their honeymoon alone. She sees Mi-mo’s ex-husband Sung-jae at the airport with his fiancee, and goes to say hello. Still angry about being cheated on, she sizes up the fiancee and warns her to be careful with older men like him.

The fiancee instroduces herself as Si-ah, not one bit intimidated, which Ae-ran comments is annoying. Si-ah puts Ae-ran right in her place, and even does it with class, leaves Ae-ran fuming.

Soo-hyun runs into Mi-mo on her way to a date with Hae-joon, and grumbles about her skimpy skirt. She says that this way her date has to hug her to keep her warm, which just makes Soo-hyuk grumpier.

During a passionate kiss scene in the movie, Mi-mo notices that it’s inspiring couples in the theater to kiss too, and has a minor internal freakout when Hae-joon leans towards her. But he’s just putting the popcorn in her reach, which annoys her. I’m thinking he may have done that on purpose, judging by his little smirk.

They go on several more dates in which nothing passionate at all happens, and now Mi-mo is getting genuinely grouchy about it. Not to mention it’s always dinner and a movie, dinner and a movie, nothing else interesting. Meanwhile Dong-mi and Oven Guy are making out like teenagers every chance they get, and their dates all look very romantic.

The next time Hae-joon texts Mi-mo to ask her to a movie, she tries to think of a way to suggest they do something else, but then she sees a scene on TV of an old movie with some pretty heavy kissing. She gets a brilliant idea, and asks Hae-joon over to her place to watch an old movie.

Hae-joon grins at his phone, but his colleague Yeon-soo has apparently seen all this before. She asks if he’s dragging his feet again, warning him that the girl will get tired. It will lead to misunderstandings and push her away. It feels like Yeon-soo is speaking from experience.

Mi-mo readies for her date and gives herself a pep talk — tonight is the night Hae-joon kisses her, no more delays. She dresses up and lights candles all around the apartment, but when the doorbell rings, it’s Soo-hyuk, here to bring her some mail that was accidentally delivered to his place. HA, she looks so sexy, he literally doesn’t know where to look.

Mi-mo sends him back home, and Soo-yuk can’t resist watching through his peephole to see Hae-joon arriving for their date. He jumps out and acts like Hae-joon is here to see him, and when Hae-joon says he’s not, Soo-hyuk invites them both over for dinner. OMG he’s so jealous it’s adorable.

Hae-joon declines, so Soo-hyuk tries the “I’m so lonely” act, even getting his eyes to well up a bit. Hae-joon just closes the door on him.

The date seems to go well, but right at kissing time, Hae-joon gets a cryptic text from Soo-hyuk. A minute later Hae-joon actually does go in for a kiss, but another text interrupts them again. This time he shuts his phone off.

The third time he tries, Ppoppo whines and pulls on Hae-joon’s pants leg. Fourth try, doorbell rings. Okay, I’m starting to feel bad for the guy. Hae-joon and Mi-mo try to ignore the bell, but whoever it is starts pounding and ringing frantically, so Mi-mo finally answers.

It’s Soo-hyuk, with fried chicken, looking about ready to explode. He invites himself in and sits right between them, even changing the movie to an animated film. I notice that he’s even gotten Mi-mo to cover up in flannel, HA.

Mi-mo tells Dong-mi later that she and Hae-joon have only held hands, and Dong-mi gets to play the more-experienced friend for the first time ever. She tells Mi-mo to just accept that she’s getting older, then wonders if this is why Hae-joon got divorced.

She tells Mi-mo to just admire the pretty and not worry about anything else, and Mi-mo imagines being married to Hae-joon, but he’s just a pretty doll that only lies there. She tries everything to get him to respond to her, but nothing works.

Mi-mo goes to see Hae-joon at the hospital, but he’s busy with a patient. The young girl with the crush on him confronts her again, but Mi-mo is in no mood, and just tells the girl to shut up and go away. The girl whines that it’s already annoying enough to see his ex-wife at the hospital, and what in the what now? She points the ex-wife out, and sure enough, it’s Yeon-soo. I knew it.

Yeon-soo has an appointment with Da-jung, where she tells her that she has breast cancer. She needs a mastectomy, which Da-jung fights, saying that she doesn’t want to live like that. Yeon-soo assures her that she’ll still be a woman, and what’s more, she’ll see her son grow up.

Da-jung cries, remembering when Tae-yong was a baby and she’d been a frazzled new mother, hair a mess and covered in spitup. She and Geun-hak had grown apart, and she’d passively let it happen.

Ah-ni looks on Soo-hyuk’s work computer for some files, and comes across his pictures of Seul-ah’s scandal. She sees that he was lying, and that there was a confrontation with a second woman that day.

Mi-mo is frustrated to death wondering about Hae-joon’s ex-wife and why they divorced, and decides that she has to find out. She goes to see Yeon-soo, several times, but each time she chickens out and just asks medical questions. Finally Yeon-soo offers to just answer Mi-mo’s real question — why she and Hae-joon broke up.

She says that it was her idea, and that he just went along with it. Same situation when they got married… she asked, he said yes. He was never worried about their relationship, never seemed to care very much. Well, that does sound familiar. She knows Hae-joon well enough to know that Mi-mo must have confessed first, and tells her honestly that he will never love her as much as she loves him.

Mi-mo and Dong-mi have drinks, and Mi-mo is consumed with worry that Hae-joon is only dating her because she confessed. Dong-mi suggests a little test to see who is the problem, and teaches Mi-mo one of the magic tricks her guy has performed for her.

Soo-hyuk and Hyun-gi stake out a target who’s slobbering all over his date, and decide they’ve had enough (Soo-hyuk: “If we stay any longer, I might jump on you.” PFFT). Mi-mo is there in a private room giving herself a peptalk for the test, and Soo-hyuk overhears her and screeches to a halt. Hae-joon calls Mi-mo to cancel, being busy at the hospital, and Soo-hyuk barges in to ask why she’s here. He quickly figures out that she got stood up, and joins her.

Mi-mo is disappointed, saying that she wanted to prove to Hae-joon that she’s still young and beautiful, and make him want her. She’s so sad, Soo-hyuk offers to let her do her test on him, to see if he wants her. After all, he’s a man, so if it works on him it will work on Hae-joon.

So Mi-mo agrees to do the test on Soo-hyuk, and all she does is lean in very close and he’s already starting to squirm. She does little slight-of-hand moves, pulling flowers from behind his ears, and from the look on his face I’d say it’s very definitely working.

Mi-mo goes in even closer and blows in his ear, producing another flower, and now Soo-hyuk looks to be in actual pain. She performs the big finish, setting the fake flower on fire and turning it into a real rose, and Soo-hyuk applauds. And then they both notice that her hat is on fire.

Soo-hyuk throws water in Mi-mo’s face, yells, “That didn’t do anything!!” and empties a whole pitcher over her head. Okay, I’m literally crying right now. That was the complete opposite of romantic. Mi-mo gets a chill and lets Soo-hyuk drive her home, and he sweetly turns the heat up for her when she sneezes. Poor guy obviously feels like an ass right now.

Hae-joon is at Mi-mo’s looking for her, and her phone is off when he tries to call. He goes back to his car, where he runs into Soo-hyuk leading a dripping wet Mi-mo into the building. He mutters to himself, “This is going to get complicated.”

They see Hae-joon there, and though Mi-mo’s face breaks into a giant grin, Hae-joon doesn’t return it.

COMMENTS

Well, it looks like all the legs of our love triangle are in place, and now that both men are aware of each other’s interest, I’m looking forward to a good healthy rivalry for Mi-mo’s affections. It’s not that I want their friendship to suffer, but I think that both men could do with a little push in the “making your feelings known” department. Soo-hyuk knows he has feelings for Mi-mo but is afraid to show them, and though it results in some hilariously awkward moments, I do want to see him stand up and be honest with her sooner rather than later. And Hae-joon just needs a good solid kick in the pants… what man dates a woman like Mi-mo — beautiful, successful, intelligent, and even a former idol — and doesn’t do more than hold her hand?

I think jealous petty Soo-hyuk is my very favorite Soo-hyuk, because he’s just so transparent about it. It’s so obvious that he can’t stand the idea of Mi-mo and Hae-joon dating, but because he and Hae-joon are such old friends, he can’t say anything. So he’s stuck inviting himself on their dates and trying to make Mi-mo feel insecure, and it just totally backfires on him. But it’s sweet how he also tries to protect her, even lying at work to keep her name out of the paper, and I just love him for it.

Speaking of jealousy, it sort of scares me, and simultaneously makes me gleeful, that Soo-hyuk still has the unfiled marriage application. I can totally see him filing it and making their marriage real, in an attempt to get Mi-mo back with him again. Yes I know, it would be a terrible violation of Mi-mo and her wishes, but I guess I’m a horrible person like that. I was cheated out of seeing Mi-mo and Soo-hyuk being married against their will, and there’s a large part of me that would still be highly entertained if Soo-hyuk just went off on his own and filed the papers. Seeing him try to flail his way out of that situation would be big fun.

On a more serious note, I really appreciate that the show actually addresses adult situations, and I don’t just mean sex and passion. It’s great that we get those too, and it creates some pretty funny situations whether the characters are getting any of that or not (or even if they aren’t sure they have!). Just admitting that grown adults have sex drives is wonderful, and seeing them deal with their sex drives is a lot of fun, way more fun than open-eyed kissing if I’m honest. But I also am enjoying watching a drama that talks about women’s health, pregnancy, even difficulties getting pregnant and the problems that can come with that. It’s a show that’s about adults, for adults, and there’s no false coyness or dancing around the facts of life. People kiss, and have sex, and sometimes it’s amazing and sometimes it’s disaster, but that’s life.

Such as Da-jung’s marriage, and what trying to conceive has done to destroy the loving relationship that she and her husband once had. They clearly loved each other when they got married, but I’m sure that the pressure to have a child took all the joy out of intimacy for Da-jung and Geun-hak, pretty much right as their marriage began. Wanting a child and not being able to have one is incredibly exhausting and emotionally devastating, even without outside pressure. It’s no wonder that Da-jung cracked after five years, and sadly it was enough to kill their marriage to the point that even their young son knows that things are all wrong. The poor kid, he was the whole reason they fell apart, though through no fault of his own and no matter how wanted he was. Now he’s living in a loveless home and he knows it, if only subconsciously. And it’s obvious that Geun-hak still loves Da-jung, at least enough that he’s not willing to cheat on her, but nobody can live like that for years on end and want to stay. And I still want to know what Da-jung is thinking — why does she push her husband away, emotionally and physically, yet refuse to get a divorce? My heart just aches for all three of the people in that house.

But mostly I’m enjoying Soo-hyuk’s discomfiture over the crazy situation he created by giving his best friend his blessing to date the woman he likes himself, and his efforts to keep them apart without giving himself away was bound to backfire on him eventually. It’s no surprise that Hae-joon caught on first, given how myopic Mi-mo can be about romantic matters. Seeing the two friends battle it out right over her head should be fun, so let the games begin!

Anyone else think Don Mi's relationship is actually all virtual? I don't think those scenes are real events, but rather her dreams and imagination while carrying on a texting relationship with the guy, who I'm quite sure is not the hot guy she met. I think the guy she met was just hired or asked by the real guy to pose as him. And I bet she will fall in love with him through texting only to find out the real guy is actually not all that attractive. Serves her right for being so shallow.

Yeah, remember the dream sequence where she was back in Joseon and dreamt of marrying the hot guy and ended up with a less attractive one?
Whatever hottie is up to (already married, a phantom of Dong Mi's imagination or "hired help") it's sure gonna end up in some sad yet hilarious outcome for her. I think and hope that the experience is gonna make her realise that her checklist for Mr. Perfect is not realistic.

Also Soo-hyuk was hilarious in this episode. The struggle to hold back is getting to him hahaha now I'm wonder how this love triangle will be resolve.

it happened a lot in Kdramas that towards the end of a drama people get a complete make over, totally ruins the drama for those outside of Korea normally but seems to make the home viewers happy?.
Coffee House comes to mind where due to netzines pressure the drama switched who the lead guy ended up with. So yes it can and dose happen.

For the first time the viewer ratings didn't go up for the drama. It up against some big dramas of course so it never going to jump huge numbers, but i was kind of hoping it could creep on up a 8% mark before it stopped and could hold that number. Lets hope it start going up once more ep six

Knetizens might be reacting prematurely. In eps 1-4, Haejoon does come across as being very attractive, even perfect. But from ep 5 onwards, we may be starting to see his less than perfect traits. Does he have a fear of intimacy? Is he manipulative, etc.? After all his ex-wife is attractive, intelligent, obviously still cares a great deal about him, so she must have had good reasons to break up with him, right?

Sometimes with dramas, unlike w movies, you just need some patience and wait till the writer shows you more pertinent information before reacting too strongly. And it'd be extremely unfair to Jung Kyung Ho if their wrath is unleashed upon him by association w Soo Hyuk.

I cant dig the doc tho... cos he is totally doing the push-and-pull thing! im too passionate for such shenanigans so Soo Hyuk gets my vote on this one!

its a the lesser of two devils type of thing.

plus SH and MM's chemistry is off the chain! MM even has MOM chemistry with SH's son...for crying out loud!

you can read the comments on Kkuljaem. plus Netizenbuzz suddenly translated the article of this drama when she never done this before. I am saddened by the comments that criticize jung kyung ho. I am rooting for soo hyun-mi mo moments because we can clearly see they are hillarious together but I am afraid that the writer will change the male lead due to netizens response. In fact, there are soo hyuk-mi mo scenes as compared to the first two episodes.

I'm hoping Haejoon is only feigning interest in Mi Mo, to get Soo Hyuk to re-engage emotionally and start dating. He seemed to recognize that there was interest. His passiveness during what should be the most exhilarating time of their relationship, doesn't bode well for them having a happy marriage.

Something seems off about him. He has a stepford husband vibe.

Something is off with this guy. We just don't know what it all is yet.
I'm not getting the feeling that the writer is doing a script with two suitors who are balanced in their competitiveness. I bet Haejoon will be revealed to be much less perfect than he first appears.

So I'm not the only one who couldn't get a read on Dajung's view of her marriage. It's weird that she seems (to me) almost like deliberately pushed her husband away but soooo clingy to their marriage status. I want to know what her deal is and whether we already shown all their problems.

I think it pretty clear she suffered from post what ever of having a child, hardly surprising when you take in the struggle it was. I seem to remember one of the effect is a lack of sexual drive..ie her putting on milk spit to stop her husband advances, is a clear sign.

right? i was wondering at first what that's about but her just not having sexual interest anymore after all taht, makes alot of sense. what is more strange is that it remained that way for SEVEN years? and no one thought to see a doctor or a marriage counselor or anything? like how sad of a marriage must that be for both parties? idk. i rly want to know what is going on there and why. why does it seem like they never sat down and had a discussion about it either? so confused

Other option could be the child is not his child, she had an "adventure" to get pregnant (or maybe even with his consent.. who knows..) and she felt guilty, dirty, unloyal and such.

I though about that went the doctor said the problem was in the sperm and then she gor pregnant miraculousy. Too many makjang dramas affected my mind xD

I was thinking the same thing! That her son is not her husband's child. I also wonder if he knows.

I don't think it's her "putting on milk spit to stop her husband advances". From what I saw I thought that it was just the baby spitting out milk, the mother wanting to wash up but the father was taking a bath (typical of most Asian families in that dads don't do much to take care of kids) and the mother just going to sleep after. I think she felt upset that she was the one who when through all the suffering prior to the birth of the child, and she's still the one doing all the work after. The husband didn't show any sympathy, and her rejecting his advances was a sort of silent protest.

@Affie- You may have an excellent point on Da Jung and her emotions.

Honestly I cannot by any means have any sympathy for Dajung. For a person to reject her husband for 7 years and reject divorce is just as abusive as any type of physical abuses. I don't know what her problem is, and don't care for it. Seven years is a long enough time to realize there's something wrong with you and seek help. It's not like she's financially incapable either.

Required fields are marked *

On the other hand, I feel empathy for Dajung's situation.
She's been through hardships of having a baby, and it was a miracle to have her boy.
However, after giving birth, she felt tired/exhausted/stressed/traumatized before sleeping with her husband and ended up trying to get away with it (she checked her messy hair and clothes and decided to wipe her baby's milk more on the clothes, and you can see how her husband got excited after bath but feeling upset that she already slept).
On the reason why she rejected divorce, I guess it is all for her child. She doesn't want her precious son to live without a father, so she wants to maintain this marriage. And I personally think that she blames her husband a bit for 5 years trying to conceive a baby so she doesn't think her "faults" are as big.
Anyway, I really hope they can work out the problems that Dajung has been keeping for herself (her reasons for acting this way, her cancer discussion, her worries that their son knows, because, in the end, her husband's reactions towards her "Please give me a hug" was hurtful and sorrow. The actor' s expressions feel like he did put a fraction of second to consider her move towards him after all those years.

Just my 2 cents anyway. :D

Jang Nara and Jung Kyung Ho are so ridiculously cute and hilarious that I will definitely marathon this series once it's completed! Fingers crossed he files it eventually!

I wonder why Hae Joon acts so distant and on another note, his ex-wife is absolutely stunning! He is a bit strange and sometimes too nice.

I really want Da Jung to fix her issues and lead a happier marriage. Her whole family is so sad that I think they should all go see a therapist and talk it out. Dong Mi's story is still a bit weak, I thought the actor was just gonna be a cameo. Ae Ran married such a douche! She should have listened to her gut feeling.

RE: Hae Joon. he def has some kind of hangup. but after ep 6 i finally have a theory as to why that is. its not like a Spoiler per se but some of his conversation with his ex wife and his reactions to finding soo hyuk and mi mo together in the beginning...gave me rly strong hints that he probably got cheated on in the past. like i could be way off. but yeah if that happened then it would explain his need to play mind games all the fucking time and his aloofness.
I hope we find out eventually, cuz Mi Mo deserves a guy who will love her 100% and nothing less.

What are the odds that Ae ran's husband actually hired those women to pose as his exes so he can gain his wife's respect? I know it sounds convoluted, but he knows Aeran didn't want to commit to him because he didn't make her heart flutter, he was too boring and vanilla for her. So maybe this is an act to make her more interested in him?

Though judging by his parents' reaction to those women, probably not. It looked like they knew he was a player.

Poor Aeran. In that case, she should turn around and get her marriage annulled.

HAHAHA - the opening sequences are a real treat! The previous one was a Joseon era tragedy and Ep 5 was MM and SH as country bumpkins in the 1970s. OMO - so cute and loved how the actors are hamming it up.

Loved this ep - esp the magic trick and fire on hat scene - it was brilliant and so well executed. Never knew that Jang Nara and JKH could do physical comedy so well! I thought I would die laughing when MM's hat caught fire.

The chemistry between MM and SH is sizzling and they never run out of things to say (and bicker with) to each other - contrast that with MM and HJ where it's shy and awkward. I get the sneaky feeling that HJ is just a cold fish. And MM definitely needs some one with "more passion" than HJ as her partner.

Also happy to see Da Jung's back story being slowly revealed. Altho I really dun get why she drifted apart from her husband after they had a child. Hopefully, her breast cancer turn of events will be a chance for him to support her and put them on the road to reconciliation. He's so decent when he asked how could he carry out an affair when she's still around (i.e. he will not find someone else unless they are officially divorced).

Dong Mi is something else. Her romance looks totally surreal. is it even really happening or has she gone totally off her rocker?

I dun feel much for Ae Ran. She comes across as a spoilt rich girl who just cannot decide and cannot commit. So I think it's true when her cheating husband says that they are both alike!

But what madam would bring her girls to a client's wedding? It'd be bad for business.

I don't appreciate their making her fiancé a completely different person once the wedding takes place. He was meek, mild, considerate to a fault. Now he is just an ass.

Well, they didn't change him. He always was portrayed as a very fishy character trying to lure Ae-ran into marriage.

Though it didn't seem healthy to get in between friend's relationship, I thought as a long-time bestfriend, Haejoon was supposed to be able to guess that Soohyuk actually has feelings for Mimo. It's just that SH wasn't able to realise that sooner. If we see it, it's pretty obvious considering he came to the hospital at that time Mimo was rushed to the ER when he had the choice not to, the time where his drink dripped out of his mouth when HJ told that he likes Mimo & these happened before he dated Mimo.

Even if HJ couldn't accept SH's actions/feelings, he should've expected it to happen- as a bestfriend of SH.

Thanks for the recap LollyPip.

This ep was kind of off for me. Felt strange, like a different show from the first 4 eps. It felt choppy, the scenes do not segue to the next and one arc will suddenly be cut for another. Is it the editing, or is it just me? After watching ep 6, I'm convinced that this ep is really off. Just can't put my finger on it.

As for Ae Ran - her spunkiness appears sudden, different from her character the past four eps. Perhaps at the hands of a better actress, the character can be more relatable. And now that she's off on her honeymoon, is it goodbye for good?

I'm afraid the male lead will change as there are less soo hyuk - mi mo moments after the first two episodes. Please writer-nim, dont make me dissapointed. If it happens, I hope Jung Kyung Ho will choose a better project next time, more serious drama like heartless city instead of childish characters that make viewers hate him

Thanks LollyPip!

Reading the recap made me laugh all over again. The funny scenes were super hilarious.

"Da-jung ... a frazzled new mother, hair a mess and covered in spitup. She and Geun-hak had grown apart, and she’d passively let it happen." - I felt it was more than just passive. She knew that her husband wanted some intimacy but she deliberately covered herself in smelly regurgitated milk and pretended to be asleep, to play him out. It's sad that she didn't want to talk to him and come to understanding about what each one needed.

I'm thinking our leads and friends are mostly having over extended puberty and focussing problems. Ae Ran let a big shiny stone take priority, Dong Mi went for hotness, Da Jung can't see the gem right in her midst and yet won't let it go and Mi Mo is fixated on handsome and marriage per se without considering character. I feel that all of them are more in love with the idea of having a guy and marriage rather than with the guy(s). They seem to need lots of growing up to figure out that just having a guy is not the end-game.

About the men...
Soo Hyuk shot himself in the foot or maybe it was in the head because his immature behavior when it comes to jealousy begs the question if his brains are all there.

Doc has been spoilt by getting by with pretty for a long time and has never felt the need to change, and never cared enough even when that backfired on him. What he needs, I'm guessing, is to experience really caring for a significant other to the point of self-sacrifice for that person's happiness.

Well we could do with 1 more happy ending among all these characters but how nice if we could have 2 or 6.

GB,
I really like this comment you wrote. I agree wholeheartedly.

Let me just add that Soo Hyuk shot himself in the foot, cos he only had the drunken encounter w MiMo the night before, and a day or 2 later, his friend asked him if he had any romantic interest in her. It was so sudden, and way too soon for him to realise that there's interest, plus the fact that he has been keeping to himself for 13 years, so what does he know?
The childish behavior out of jealousy is the writer going for cheap laughs. Fancy writing or sophisticated thinking it is Not.

As for Doc, I suspect that after going 1 round w Mimo and learning some things about himself, he might end back up with his ex, who already knows how to deal w him, which is more than any other woman on earth can claim.

Hi there @ KDaddict?JCW, great to read you!

"It was so sudden, and way too soon for him to realise that there’s interest, plus the fact that he has been keeping to himself for 13 years, so what does he know?" - Yes, so instead of feeling pressured to answer and since his friend already noticed his hesitation, he could/should have said, he needed time to figure it out first. However that seems to take a maturity he lacks. Or again, perhaps he was embarrassed that he'd called his friend out to witness his non-event of a marriage and so was too eager admit his mistake and protest his indifference to Mi Mo?

"The childish behavior out of jealousy is the writer going for cheap laughs. Fancy writing or sophisticated thinking it is Not." - I agree, and yet, it works. I laugh at his childish attempts to sabotage his friend's progress in the relationship. That he can ever think that would work to break up a couple, takes the cake in childish thinking. I guess the cheap humor does at least bring this out to the fore. ... Come to think of it, about 100% of the adult main characters plus a few adult side characters manifest childish thinking, and the truly mature character in their midst is 13-year old Min Woo.

I like the idea of Doc going back to ex-wife. In any case, I don't like him with Mi Mo. In the last 2 episodes, his rather plastic (is it makeup?) appearance and lack of expression has been getting to me. :)

I honestly don't understand Korean viewers if they want the doctor.

I'm watching Cheese in the Trap concurrently. Doesn't the doctor remind you a little of Jung? Things are a game, controlling through manipulation, even though I think he genuinely likes Mi Mo. While the reporter is so much more like In Ho, impulsive and passionate, but matured by fourteen years of single fatherhood.

But I'd ship both main leads because of the difference in the girls they're after. Seol and Mi Mo aren't anything at all alike - you could see Seol growing up to be the doctor's self-possessed ex-wife, for instance, but never a vibrant, somewhat materialistic character like Mi Mo.

I'm shipping the doctor and his ex after he learns a few things pursuing Mi Mo.

As an aside - definitely something up with Dong Mi's boyfriend. I had to rewind to make sure I wasn't reading the subs wrong as I thought he was imaginary. Still not sure what's going on there.

I honestly don’t understand Korean viewers if they want the doctor.

I don't understand that either, per se. But if he and the main lead are the only alternatives, I can see why.

I’m watching Cheese in the Trap concurrently. Doesn’t the doctor remind you a little of Jung? Things are a game, controlling through manipulation, even though I think he genuinely likes Mi Mo. While the reporter is so much more like In Ho, impulsive and passionate, but matured by fourteen years of single fatherhood.

Interesting parallels, but ...

Soo-hyun doesn't seem matured at all. He also doesn't seem like a single father in 95% of his scenes. No wonder his son is struggling under all the responsibilities.

In-ho is a juvenile trigger-happy idiot, but he is still much more mature emotionally than Soo-hyun.
In-ho started to like Seol because of the way she treated him. Soo-hyun doesn't like Mi-mo, he still feeds on his childhood crush.

As for Jung and the doctor, I don't see it. In terms of personality, they are rather opposite to each other than similar.

But I’d ship both main leads because of the difference in the girls they’re after. Seol and Mi Mo aren’t anything at all alike – you could see Seol growing up to be the doctor’s self-possessed ex-wife, for instance, but never a vibrant, somewhat materialistic character like Mi Mo.

It's strange, isn't it? Seol is extremely inexperienced in romantic relationships, she's much younger, much less settled, she's also much less secure about herself, she's less courageous, much less successful. And yet, she's a much, much stronger character than Mi-mo ...

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

That's because, I think, Seol often self-reflects - and after reflection, she will make herself do things like go and apologise seriously to Jung, whom she didn't like at that point. Also, Seol, even after Ju Yeon stole her report and she ended up having to hand it in late to Professor Kang, did not simply blame Ju Yeon or whine. While I was frustrated at Seol taking the verdict of B+ being her capped grade, I also could see a maturity in that she didn't want to cause Ju Yeon to have a serious demerit. These moments of integrity make Seol feel much more grounded as a character.

On the other hand Mimo flits far too quickly from one complicated situation to another. She does so without much self-reflection, and hence, without more accountability to herself and those in the situation with her. Hence, I have some sympathy for Soo Hyun in that they did have an intense encounter together, and despite it being alcohol-fuelled, there was an emotional/physical connection too. Of course, it was good the wedding did not happen, but Mimo can't even see that by simply moving so swiftly to his best friend, her actions dismiss and not even recognise they did have that interpersonal exchange.

Sorry to talk about Cheese in the Trap here, but I don't think it's a sign of integrity or maturity to cover up for other people when they treat you badly. If Jooyeon had gotten in serious trouble for her malicious act, that would simply have been natural consequences at work. Protecting people from the natural consequences of their actions only leads to more trouble. I wouldn't mind if Seol had shut up about the Jooyeon incident because she didn't think it was worth the fuss. But I would mind if she had kept it quiet because she thought that was what a "good" person was supposed to do.

We are digressing, but let me just say: I absolutely agree with you. Also, I'm pretty sure that the majority of K-drama writers disagrees with you. In K-drama ethics, responsibility is defined very differently from the kind of personal responsibility that modern Western individualism propagates.

0

Let me clarify - from my perspective, I called it 'integrity" or maybe a kind of class. I don't know if that's what Seol thought of herself but that was my opinion of her. Barging into the professor's office just by finger pointing, to me, would sound rather immature - because ultimately, on one hand, you have petty cat fight squabbles, on the other, something that could go on your permanent record. There's a thin line one can walk there to see if things can be resolved in the schoolyard, instead of just blowing it up to a disciplinary situation.

0

Based on my growing knowledge of Korean viewers and K-netizens' preferences and tendencies, I'm currently of the opinion they're of an entirely different species from myself. I am very curious though - what it must be like to live in Korea. Is everyday life that constrictive? Do everyday people judge everyday people as harshly as they judge celebrities and characters in drama?

Soooooooo, reading the comments here I must say I'm baffled. Most people on here say they want Mimo with Soohyuk because they have more chemistry. Sure. And I wouldn't have any problems with that if they were both single.
Haejoon asked Soohuyk if he had no interest in Mimo and he said yes. But now he wants to sabotage his "best friend's" relationship and all of you are okay with it because "haejoon is boring" ? Even so, shouldn't Haejoon and Mimo be the people working on their relationship and trying to find a balance, isn't that what adults do ? If in the end Mimo decides that she's not that into him and they broke up at least the decision will come from them.
ANd from my understanding k-viewers are not rooting for SH for the same reason as me, he's not beeing a good friend right now.
I wonder if you all would be this accepting if it was your friend acting like that...
Oh well it's just a drama right ?

I see your point. May I venture a guess or 2:
Chemistry aside, I suspect that the ppl who still ship Mimo with Soo Hyuk see them as being " both single", as you put it. Mimo has gone on a few dates with Doc. But she is still "single".

It is also possible that they think that it's okay for 2 men to woo 1 woman and may the best man win, as the saying goes, or more precisely, may whoever she finds that she loves win. She doesn't know much about Doc at this pt., and neither do we.

Perhaps some ppl don't find it as morally apprehensive as some others when a guy wants to date a woman that his friend has been going out with only for a short time ( a couple weeks), even if it's his best friend, since the courtship has not progressed into serious territory.

I think Koreans in their minds see someone like the doc pursuing Mi Mo very seriously, as in with an intent to marry her. Also the fact that the Doctor clearly went out of his way to respect their relationship and backed off from Mi Mo when he thought Soo Hyuk and Mi Mo were together or possibly liked each other and also asked Soo Hyuk's permission.

People above are stating that it was "obvious" that Soo Hyuk wasn't really sure or was lying about his feelings and I don't see that as definitive at all. There are SOOOO many instances in kdramas (especially ones like OMHE) where one character in a conversation will show body language that clearly points to dishonest or discomfort but the other person in the scene does NOT pick up on it. It's something that's mostly for the audience to see. There was absolutely no indication Dr. noticed or thought Soo Hyuk might have been lying because as he said, he HATES love triangles.

I think he hates them not because of the drama but because he wants and is used to getting the undivided and loyal attention of women. I don't think he's right for Mi Mo at ALL but I don't care for the way the writer is making Soo Hyuk act for cheap laughs and all for the sake of adding drama to an IMO unnecessary love triangle.

You're right on the money with your observations. Doc is pretty spoiled. He's used to women fawning over him and he's not used to working at a relationship. I think the love triangle is good for someone like him because it'll make him show more emotion than he's used to and make him more vested in his romantic interest. And may the best man win.

Speaking of love triangles, I am yet to see one where a guy was actively pursued by two women, who remained friendly and amicable with one another. I am not referring to love squares (I have had my fill of that and it has been done to death) and in such cases second woman is always a witch or a bitch or something worse.

No, I am talking of a reverse triangle where a guy was actively being chased by two normal, nice, everyday women. I wonder why that's not socially acceptable, while the two males-one female us the norm.

you talking about the age old question mate before skirt plus I think some have already suggested that doc kind of knew the real answer and was doing what he been doing with Mi Mo ie manipulating him into saying he wasn't interested in her as he will knew his friends personality, to understand he never come out and say he liked her even if he did. Not sure I agree but he certainly likes playing with people to much, yes?
I have to add though that if all men put there mate before their girl friend, the human population would drastically drop..you can not get your mate pregnant after all, there a natural limit to the idea of bromance. And as it is said there no fair rules when in love and war.

I agree that Haejoon likes playing with people too much. And not in a fun, exciting way like Jung in Cheese in the Trap (ha). I thought lollypips was spot on for flagging Haejoon's manipulativeness in the recap of the first (?) episode. I didn't like the way he pulled Mimo's strings this way and that. Mimo has her faults, but I will root for her forever because of her courage and forthrightness in the first two episodes.

I cannot stand the doctor. The only characters I like less are all the other main characters.

All's fair in love and war.

In any case, I think precisely because it's a drama that's why people don't care. If they love each other, they can be together. In reality, it gets uncomfortable. Personally, I'll never do anything like that.

However, because we are taken through the process from the first episode on, we kinda know that SH liked MM already (for the sake of drama of course he doesn't). And also, like what someone else brought up, HJ obviously knew that SH liked MM too. He did ask him straight up if he did, but it was obvious that SH will claim otherwise. It depends on how you look at it, but I think he wanted the assurance right at the start because he saw signs.

I am really enjoying this show & am so happy that dramabeans is doing a recap :) Thank you!

Love Jang Nara. She was great in I Remember You (my choice for best series in 2015), and now equally good in an inane comedy, and doing such great work with a completely different character! She does funny and vulnerable like nobody can, and has really solid chemistry with all her co-stars, male or female.

Two other standout characters: Yoo In Na (who could have guessed someone so HOT can be so dorky and hilarious!), Jung Kyung Ho (again, who would have thought a pretty boy can be so manly with such comedic talent!)

The show is just fresh air: funny, light and complete with quirky touches (the silly spoofs) and sweet music.

It has all the elements of a good rom-com: warm, makes the audience laugh, but yet there is enough sizzling chemistry, jealousy and love arcs to make you swoon.

I actually like how there is meat to all the characters. Women who marry douchebags, women who are stuck in loveless marriages, single women, women in love, divorcees, single fathers, children of single fathers or squabbling parents-- it is just nice to watch a show which recognises that happiness and love can come in different forms, at different timings for different people:)

All of you who are criticizing Soo Hyuk for seemingly trying to "steal" Mi-ho away from JH - please know that this is so true to life it's amazing. It's a really hard thing to understand when you're in your 20's (and impossible for teenagers) but relationships morph and grow depending upon real feelings. I can offer the perspective from multiple decades worth of relationships and marriage AND my own situation that was identical to this.
When I was in my late 20's I met a fun, handsome guy (Woody) who courted me intensely. I knew that he had been dating a lot of women but we were really good together. We dated platonically for about a month. I was swayed by how handsome he was. Then, his lifetime best friend (Eric) came over from Hawaii for a visit and everything fell apart. The three of us did a lot of group dating with other people and had a lot of fun. Eric was quite intimidating and intelligent, not goofy and easy like Woody. Then Eric left to go up to Northern California and I started waiting for Woody to ask me out on dates. After two weeks, I got a call from Eric inviting me to come north to San Francisco. I said no, that I was dating Woody and Eric responded, "I did my best to hold in my feelings but I knew you were the woman for me the moment we met. Before I left I told Woody, "please don't date her. I want to marry her". Because they were truly best friends, Woody backed off. I ended up falling madly in love with Eric, we moved in together, got married, and had a beautiful daughter (now 33). It gave me a real perspective on men's friendships.

So Hyuk did not tell the truth when he implied he didn't have feelings for Mi-ho. He was at a point of confusion. Then his feelings got more and more resolved. You'll see what I mean when you watch the glorious ending of episode 6 (ah - my heart!). Because JH is kind of a shallow guy, which is getting more and more revealed, I don't think the two men had that deep of a friendship. Sometimes men can be very superficial with each other. True feelings win out and Soo Hyuk cannot help the strength of his growing love for Mi-ho. The truth of his love is greater than anything - and that's a glorious thing!! I'm so happy to see this drama veering away from the silly and into the real-life intense. We have many episodes to go to enjoy this ride. Hooray!
The last thing I want to see is Soo Hyuk going off into the distance with a broken heart like Siwon did at the end of She Was Pretty.

And another thing - about the opinions of the Korean viewers - I went to South Korea last April and found everyone I met to be wonderful. HOWEVER, they are still really (maybe subconsciously) tied to their essentially Confucian heritage, which means that every thing has its place and their is a hierarchy that keeps things aligned. You can see it manifested most glaringly in dramas where people are trying to figure out each other's age. No matter how old (or young) you are in Korean culture, the person who is just a year or even six months older than you is your "senior" and worthy of respect and formal talk. People don't allow themselves to be "friends" unless they are exactly the same age…until a relationship grows in time and closeness.
I think this is what's happening for the viewers. The doctor dating Mi-mo came FIRST as a public thing. You don't mess with a precedent. It upsets the order of things. Then, also, their is great respect placed upon JH's profession as a doctor, as opposed to Soo Hyuk being a lowly entertainment reporter working in an office. It doesn't make sense to us Americans, but it's very real there. We'll see that, if JH is truly in debt, Mi-mo would lose respect for him, on top of how one-dimensional and boring he is. There's just no emotion and connection there. We women LOVE connection!!

Okay………….. I love this show! Gosh. I am so lucky!

I usually watch one drama at a time... (my work is totalling piling up as I type this... siggggggh....)

I generally like deeper dramas but squeeeeeeeeeeeee! This drama is just so perfect for my fluff mind-numbing drama fix!

**** happy dance in my head ***

I m just really into it! Maybe because I enjoy women’s issues… being a woman and all!

Buuuuttt...can Dong Mi be a little less nonchalant but super obsessive about her love life at the same time! haha! I just can’t with her…. but she is hella entertaining!

Ae Ran… the quiet aloof all-walls- up mom… I have a friend like her….dont like my friend much… I think I can only like Ae Ran as a character in this show. but alas, change must come! She must observe her surroundings more and connect… I see her doing the subconscious pushing away of people without even realizing it!

Okay! Perfect fodder for a rom-com…! A perfectly fine man who can’t seem to work up the balls to confess his feelings to a beautiful and confident lady! I don’t care how much of a floosy Mi Mo appears to be… if you are a man and you can’t work up the guts to propose to a lady, it’s all on you, bruh! …and I promise … I will enjoy every minute of his discomfort till he gets it together! Did I mention this show has got me hooked… has me laughing like a hyena repeatedly!

Thanks for the recap! Can’t wait for more …. ;)

I really feel sorry for Geun-hak because his wife's actions are the same as someone that doesn't want something, but wont let anyone else have it either. Sure the situation has been tough on her; however, she fails to realize that she isn't the only one sufering. I mean seriously 7 years is a long time and she seems to be ignoring that fact.

I feel bad for the lovetriangle between the main characters, because it will probably destroy a good friendship. One person acted too fast on emotions, while another acted too slow and the third didn't want to admit the kind of situation he entered. I just hope it doesn't get too ugly; was watching "Marry me or not" and that wasn't pretty at all.

I wondered if Da-Jung experienced postpartum depression, especially with all of the pressure to have a baby and the difficulty conceiving combined with hormones. As someone who has struggled with depression for years, it is very easy for sexual intimacy to go away for long periods of time - you don't feel up to it, then when you realize how long its been you feel guilty, which makes it all worse. Before you know it, months have gone by... Fortunately it never became years for me, and thankfully my hubby was patient and understanding. And after years of working with a doc, we finally found the right antidepressant meds and things are all good again. I look forward to finding out more about Da-Jung's story and what the reason for their problems.

The key difference between your relationship (congratulations, btw) and Da Jung's is that Da Jung has not shown your initiative in bridging the gap, communicating, and keeping at it until a solution is found. I can't feel much sympathy for her because there are many things she could be trying instead of wallowing in self-pity and wrapping herself in the mantle of saintly motherhood. Every marriage goes through rough spots, it's never all a tiptoe through the tulips, a marriage is something that has to be tended faithfully and consistently like a garden if the emotions are going to continue to blossom. No wonder her poor husband is angry and aloof, with a wife who refuses intimacy on one hand and refuses a divorce on the other. My sympathies are all with him.

Um actually, depression is one of the hardest mental health issues, because the very point about having depression, is it is really hard to see outside of it or get out of it. Its very nature is one that drowns you. The points you list - about seeking help, talking about it, acknowledging it - those are really hard for someone with depression, and we don't even live in a society that was openly supportive of people with mental health issues till recently, and it is still very misunderstood and stigmatised. Your post is a case in point.

Really enjoy watching Jung Kyung-Ho, whether he's acting out a fun comedic role or a more series dramatic role. He has such a great screen presence - engaging and certainly entertaining.

Ae-Ran's situation, sometimes it happens in life like that. All the more reason not to dismiss those pre-wedding jitters. Hard to believe that Dong-bae was able to hide his playboy ways/behavior and totally pull the wool over the eyes of someone like her.

Really really in love with this drama!

When I saw the teaser, it did not intrigue my interest since the drama revolves around 4 women. (isn't 1 is complicated enough?)
But since I just found Jung Kyung Ho acting to be flawless and extraordinary on Heartless city and Falling for innocence, I was just trying to watch 1 episode. But.....They got me hooked!!
I looveee the romcom story of Soo Hyuk and Mi Mo. They are so good for each other. Don't you want to be with someone who has known you for so long, your bad and good and still be there and care for you??
Plus, the way I see it, the writer continuously remind us that SH has problems in proclaiming his feelings and thoughts, that it was/is not easy for him to show his love. And MM is someone that can see the flaws in other's relationship and personality but somehow fail to do so with herself..
I look forward to SH and MM find their way to overcome their issues and find their way towards each other.

I might understand the reason why Korean citizens do not like SH characters, (and to think my best friend to do the same thing to me, I totally got Hae Joong's feelings). But I also know that when it comes to love, it defies logic and your personal values. When you give more, that's when you win. (cc Han Mi Mo).

Keep it up writer-nim and PD-nim. I hope no extreme changes needed just for the sake of ratings.

Lol i agree with you the part that Soo Hyuk should just file their marriage certificate. I would so do it.

I guess that's in the works with the way it's been shown that he still has the certificate.

Have to give props to Da Jung's hubby. 7 years of celibacy in a marriage is no joke! And he never stepped out on her. Even asked her for a divorce, only for her to act like a royal witch about it! And then she blames hubby for the child picking up on the tension at home?!

I'm trying to be empathetic here, but it's really hard for me to feel sorry for her, and I have a personal peeve against marriage partners who withhold sex from their spouses as a punitive measure. I can understand if it went on for a number of months, but seven years ! That's a long time to let a problem go unchecked like that. Little wonder hubby sparked at her when she asked for a hug. First human contact she initiated in 7 years with him. I have more to say, but I'll wait until ep. 6 is recapped.

I am guessing it a two way street right now, you can say she started it but I still think she was suffering post baby depression when it started, and the husband so up himself with his 'nobility' thing ie he stiff necked pride, I wonder if even his claim of not having an affair so he would not hurt the wife is more of the same, ie about him rather than her..I could be misreading him of course.

Honestly, after watching episode 5 (I haven't seen 6 yet) I can't say I'm rooting for Soo-Hyuk nor Hae-Joon. Hae-Joon doesn't have chemistry with Mi-Mo, and I still wonder if he's hiding something from us. Soo-Hyuk has amazing chemistry with Mi-Mo, however his jealousy isn't pretty. He's insulting Mi-Mo (mostly about her appearance), and it doesn't show any respect. They both need to grow up before I pick a side.
On a side-note: I hope Ae-Ran keeps up the sassiness when she is with her lying and cheating husband, because I like it when she's fierce.

I'm confused, is the second lead actually her boyfriend? To me it seems like they're just dating. Just wondering because as an adult it's not common here in the US to be in an exclusive relationship with someone you haven't kissed yet.

Also, I was really offended that he didn't feel the need to tell her that HER doctor (and her friend's doctor) that he works with every day is the ex-wife that he had mentioned before. That's kind of hurtful.

Once the love triangle kicks in full gear he's going to have to compete for the lead woman's affection, which is something this doctor probably hasn't had to do before. It'll make his ex-wife jealous and bring up past feelings of how he didn't do the same for her. There will be a confrontation, and eventually the two doctors will end up together again.

I'm definitely on Soo Hyuk's camp. He has liked Mimo since primary school and he genuinely likes her as a person. Hae Joon on the other hand seems to like her for her idol image. We all know her personality is far from the idol image she created so Hae Joon may come to realise this after spending more time with Mimo. She hasn't shown her real personality to Hae Joon at this point but Soo Hyuk has seen her ugliest side and was even there during her lowest point, I'll say he knows what he's in for. As for the love triangle, honestly Hae Joon and Mimo hasn't been going out for that long and it's not really a solid relationship, more like casual dating so it's no big deal if another suitor joins in the race.

I feel bad for him.

It is entirely his fault. But who would know that his friend would get together with the girl in 2 days? Before he could even know that he really liked her? Like he said, he doesn't want to give anyone any hope if the space he had for them in his heart wasn't big enough.

But to be fair, he was the idiot who told her that he told his friend that they weren't married. I think Have Joon wanted to draw the line with Mi mo to give time to Soo Hyuk so that he could think it through. But that line disappeared and he felt he had to catch her before he loses her.
