Jeon Ji-hyun in talks to star in new drama from You From Another Star writer

This would certainly be a coup: Jeon Ji-hyun is considering her next project, and it could reunite her with her You From Another Star writer, Park Ji-eun (also The Producers), who has been planning a new drama with PD Jin Hyuk (Master’s Sun, City Hunter) that is also courting Lee Min-ho (Heirs) for his last drama before heading off for his two-year military service. Basically, at every part of that sentence I was saying, Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Jeon’s management has stated that no decisions have been made yet, as they are still in talks. But it’s exciting to hear that Jeon is even considering another drama series, given how until You From Another Star, it had been over a decade since her last one, and she’s primarily been a film actress (and CF queen). But perhaps You From Another Star’s massive success was enough to convince her to stay in dramaland for a while, and she’d be working with with a writer she knows she can trust for winning material. The Chun Song-yi character positively sparkled, and Jeon was pretty fantastic being confident, sassy, and hilarious — just think if they could re-create that magic…

There’s no word on the story or premise yet, but the producers plan to go for either a fully pre-produced or half-pre-produced format. (One very real benefit to Descended From the Sun’s unequivocal success is that now everyone’s eager to give pre-production a try, and I’m all for giving shows more breathing room in the production process.) It’s only been two months since Jeon gave birth to her first child, but if this casting goes through, she’d be back in front of cameras in mere months; the drama is looking for a broadcast in the latter half of the year on SBS.

He can act and pretty face with popularity and all.... but his acting doesn't move me... like crying buckets... fall of from bed laughing... or the giddy feeling when you remember the scenes of drama...
In short I can watch once but never rewatch just for him...(no offence to LMH fans its just my opinion)...

No Need to force in on our face if you feel that way and we didn't ask for it to know. We are not dissing others that we are not in to. It's just a matter of taste and it's a liberal world. Unnecessary comment on unnecessary article.

We watch him because he moves our hearts. We don't force anyone on him and thats one thing we are fair about. Everthing is love and We love him and I see no crime in that

@Aroos
If its a liberal world then people who don't find him exceptionally good can say it out loud. Like you said, its about personal opinion. So relax and stop forcing your opinion on others. You like him a lot which is good, no need to force it on a comment thread where people who don't like him so much seem to agree on something.

0

@Gem

Nobody is forcing anyone to stay on a article that is not considering whomever they like..

It's a free world and this is not a political article or whatever this is about innocent entertainers so their is no need to be that opinionated to begin with or even throw around words such as dislike. You don't like a tv channel you just quitely switch channel. it's a subject that dosen't warrant such serious thoughts

0

All the talk about 'unnecessary' comments goes both ways.

No one's forcing anyone to reply to comments that say they aren't too into your fave's acting, either.

0

I'm a huge LMH fan, but this is not an article ABOUT LMH, it's about jjh, the drama, writer, pd, and lmh. So if someone is disappointed I the potential casting, it's legit to say so here. It's not like they went to an lmh-only post and said they weren't a fan.

That said, I'm personally excited, and I hope he does well and changes a few minds ;-)

0

@Aroos This sounds a bit defensive. They aren't "forcing in on your face that they feel that way." I'm assuming you mean forcing their opinion, that they don't particularly like LMH, onto you. I find it valid to comment on how one thinks of actors that will be in the same project as the article reported. It is a liberal world, so people have the right to speak their mind about their opinions of an actor. "We don't force anyone on him and thats the one thing we are fair about" I don't really understand this statement. The one thing? Are you implying that there are things you (or LMH fans as a whole) are unfair about? Also, no one's saying that liking him is a crime, and no one's saying that someone forced LMH onto them. People are just genuinely expressing how they don't think LMH is suitable for JJH which both relates to the article and doesn't imply that it's a crime to like LMH.

Does anyone ask for opinions on an article? No, we just give them. Because it's a comments section. Chill.

0

Javabeans and Girlfriday asked for opinions the moment they chose to include a comment section on their site. That's literally what it's here for....

Chill.

0

I agree with Lolbeans but not the others. Boo wooo lalalal

0

@ Aaroos, Britinia and Kalun...

It seems that you are the sasaengs...

If you cannot take criticism from others that do not like LMH or his acting, you should be the ones to get out of this thread, instead of using words like "it's a liberal world" then literally "assaulting" anyone who does not adore your Oppa LMH.

The guy doesn't even know that you guys exist, but I don't think he will be happy to hear that his "fans" attack people that don't like him.

So please relax and enjoy life.

Peace!

0

I see more then criticism and I agree for these who called it out like it should have been done. No need to rob something on someone and look there is plently of articles or dramas why not just go watch these and leave our innocent minho.

There is alot of other productive things to do

@Fantard and Marry

How is this negativity? This is literally a simple opinion. "I don't think his acting is up to par with Jeon Ji-Hyun's". And sorry, this doesn't affect my life to the extreme? I enjoy dramas as a hobby? And feel inclined to have thoughts about it because god forbid anyone have opinions on anything at all? Not quite sure how I should dwell in negativity and sadness bc I have a simple opinion.

And this is is imo, because this is a comments section. Which means you're allowed to post your opinion. Why would I keep it safe somewhere? Because you don't want to see it?

0

There is a lot of negativity floating around on DB.

Lee Min Ho is not good enough.
Park Shin Hye can't kiss right.
Suzy can't act to save her life.
Kim Tae Hye is too toothy to even be pretty.
Song Hye Gyo can't act and only goes on her looks.
Kim Eun Sook's female characters suck.
DoTS is all hype.
Wrist grabs are offensive, etc. etc.

Everybody has a right to their opinion. Reading those opinions so often make me thank the stars that the commenters are not KD producers or directors, or in any position to influence KD production in anyway, or we'd have a lot less to watch. lol

BTW, I don't think this Mary is that mary, (of SJR fame) who is always funny and enjoyable to read.

Not surprised at all who else do you think that is from cough Kpop fans cough. They are forever bitter be careful how you treat them and they sympathize with less famous actors-actresses but once that person gets little bit of fame they turn it on him/her. Knetizens treat their idols bad but they are taking it out on the wrong communities and places.

I have seen some throwing harsh critics against actors they have never watched ever their shows or movies. They are forever pressed community and they need to chill out and realize this is not how it should be and these actors/actresses are not blocking your idols. It's a different world

oop, I said below that everyone in these comments is here because they love kdramas...... but there's a massive exception to that, and it's often kpop idol fans.

And funnily enough, fans of the ones who are good at acting, are actually pretty decent commenters here for the most part (seen this with Jaejoong fans c. Triangle/Spy). It's the other kind whose fans behave badly.

0

...except that everyone in these comments is here because they love kdramas.

And even though I don't agree with all those statements (and jb/gf themselves have repeatedly expressed that they find wrist-grabs offensive), it might be worth it to keep in mind that a lot of people point out flaws as a way of expressing how something they love (dramas) could be a whole lot better without those flawed elements, or has been ruined a little by the inclusion of said flawed elements (such as a subpar actor, excessive PPL or a badly written character).

Have you ever been to Netizenbuzz? which is entirely dominant by Kpop community. I tell you what? They are surprisingly venomous and just few notches away from wishing death on someone. They are out of their minds believe it or not without any reasoning. It's irrational hate flooding the comments.

It's as if these people has personally harmed their families and sadly some people take all this celebrity life to serious and that community surely do and I know when they cross because I can see their posts.

By the way I'm no fan of the people regarding this article. Am a 100% Joo Won fan but just saying how it is

0

@Truthial - I don't understand the kpop style of fandom in general, but it doesn't surprise me that people on a site devoted to it are OTT. It's something I hope db doesn't ever become.

But I will say, certain (non-idol) actors have fans that behave in a manner I'd associate with kpop fans. No one needs that kind of behaviour poisoning dramabeans.

0

@Pogo

They are partial here and do post here believe me and already targetting the famous ppl in this area mostly in a slyly way and other times reveal themselves. The only way we can get rid of them is if we separate the 2-worlds and make different news outlets theatre world and music world for them.

They take alot of interest in these actors/actresses and just track them down everywhere to leave bad comments.

However I do agree that DB is much better but they are partial here posting tho and Also I agree Actors/actresses fans are far from that

0

@Truthial - from what I have seen of kpop-oriented sites, people take criticism of their idols VERY personally, even if it's something benign like 'X can't sing/sucks at acting'.

I really don't understand people who have that level of involvement in a celebrity. And it's far from exclusive to kpop - I have no idea who you're talking about, but I've seen fans of at least one actor on db who are as immature, over-invested, combative and badly behaved as the worst kpop fan I saw on netizenbuzz.

(and they've been that way for years - shining moments include going into recaps of simultaneously-airing dramas featuring other actors to trash said actors and having a serious persecution complex when other commenters disagree about oppa being the greatest star in the world or something)

0

@Pogo

I don't know why you trying to twist this but you have no idea what Netizenbuzz.

His fans do not hang out here and largely just casual fans who do not take much interest in everything K related. to put it short they are mostly casuals who only end up here thru tweet hashtags whenever there is news on him.

So in the sense they hard have time to bash or even get involved with the K world. Go to his hashtags on Twitter and Instagram and most of them do not speak well english as well since they are mixed of latins, Middle easterns, east europeans etc etc just casual fans not hardcore at all or emotionally invested but they meet in return unwarranted blasting. So in the sense they keep everything for themselves and hang out place they hang out and do not mix with other K fans.

Some few of them post on Soompi while the majority hang out on FB, TW and INSTA. they rarely even cross to articles unless they see a hashtag then they follow that.

The hardcore's are from other sections and hang out in NB and these are not casual fans and not even hardcore but borderling sasaengs and on the red line mentally

0

Sorry for my english it's my 3rd language.

Conclusion: His fans do not hang out in K- Related place except few on Soompi. They have no presence in the K world but just thru hashtags. They are not into K-related stuff

0

Another wishful thinking and quiet prayer in the air, "Won Bin" Dudes been gone way too long.

0

Won Bin hasn't done a drama since 2002 and all bets are off re: whether he'll do any acting projects ever again - he's turned down a zillion drama offers including, most recently, DotS which was pretty much a guaranteed hit given who the writer was.

It's a shame because, looks aside, he is a really good actor.

0

I just want them to pair her with an actor in her age range this time. Even if it's just for the sake of not comparing her co-star (and chemistry) with KSH.
So basically I'm in with any actor born mid 70s to early 80s, be it Won Bin, So Ji Sub, Hyun Bin or anyone else who's somehow on par with her acting and popularity (deliberately left out Kang Dong Won coz we all know that's never gonna happen, sigh).

I couldn't finish MLFAS not because of JJH. I can even watch her alone..But there was something off about that drama for me.

I believe LMH won't reject this offer. It is a huge loss for him if he does so.

This DB is like a fan war when it comes to big names particularly the hallyu ones..

0

Required fields are marked *

Agreed. Sure, he pretty much carried Boys Over Flowers, but that doesn't say much. I think he's a decent actor, but I don't particularly enjoy watching him act and I found him pretty cringe worthy in Personal Taste. Other than that I just think they'd be an oddly matched pair, they don't really seem to fit each other. I hope they choose someone else, because everything else about this drama makes me want to squeal in delight haha (:

And there's no reason to get all defensive about your fave actor, we all have a right to voice our opinons and it's not like anyone was slandering him. Luckily not everyone agrees on everything. The world be a pretty boring place if we all liked the same things, not to mention how everything would be in shortage (:

Two things that struck me:

In BOF he gave a performance that felt somewhat organic. CH too. After that the performances seem self-conscious.

The performances also seem to be affected by whoever he's playing opposite of. He subtly matches their style and it weakens the character he's playing. Exhibit A: the scenes he's in with the surfer dude, in Heirs.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that she shouldn't be paired with Lee Min Ho. Actually, I think that she should just pass on this project because I don't like the writer. Sure, YFAS was a big hit but lets be honest it was just full of fluff and it worked because Jeon Ji Hyun was in it. She's the only reason I stuck with YFAS because her character was so funny and charismatic. I say, the drama with Gong Yoo and DOTS' writer is a better option because at least, the writer of DOTS is better than YFAS's writer even though not that great. And Gong Yoo is always a better option than Lee Min Ho. I admit, I'm one of those people who doesn't get the hype with Lee Min Ho but I watch dramas for its quality and like actors for their talents first before looks. Anyway, I just hope to see Jeon Ji Hyun in a drama like Signal - a drama with quality that showcases an actor/actress' true talent.

Well that mash-up is a crap shoot.

City Hunter was solid, but Master's Sun was a disaster. Jianna Jun is wonderful and quite out of Lee Min Ho's league. He's got A LOT of screen presence, but his acting might look wobbly when paired with her.

I say go for it. The variables could spell gold. Or it will be a very stylish train wreck. Either way it will be enjoyable.

Master's Sun was great, mainly because the PD knew how to milk the leads' chemistry for everything it was worth.

Dr. Stranger was the trainwreck, but that was largely because of a terrible script and the little bits of it that were watchable, were that way because he elevated the material.

Either way, this will look good.

Lol.

This is the first time for me too. Different taste I guess.

But complete lack of chemistry? ha. I have plenty examples for what we call as complete lack of chemistry ?

My first time hearing someone says Master's Sun is a disaster, the script is so good and the leads doesn't lack a chemistry ( guess everyone has it's own taste)

This might be off topic, but I just wanted to comment that the picture used for this article is gorgeous, and eye catching. I think I have a crush on her

It seems like pre-producing this would be a no-brainer-- it'd have to be fully pre-produced to sell to China for a simulcast. If it's starring two of the most popular Korean actors in China, and is written by the writer who wrote the all-time most popular k-drama in China, and is being marketed on the heels of the DotS sensation, wouldn't it be crazy not to take advantage of this? It's basically the perfect cash cow.

You are absolutely right. The law change needing entire shows to be sent to the approving authorities/censors in China, basically made pre-producing a no-brainer decision.

I think I'm in love with that law.

Really happy to see both finally return to Kdramaland after 3-yrs of absence.

LMH has been more of a Kdramaland guy but has been gone for awhile now doing 2 movies back to back and will anticipate this very much because both are my favorite actors/actresses.

This is probably the last time we might see LMH-turn out on the small screen for many years to come So lets cut him some slack and give him the Kdramaland farewell that he actully deserves.

On the other hand this could also very well be JJH's last drama before going to the sunset with the cash and into her usual movieland.

I said for about a year ago that stars will align for this actor/actress and it happened as I predicted.

To many lucky charm on this and could turn into a mainstream nostalgia and perhaps even bigger then BOF in popularity and I know it's a unrealistic prediction but it's just a feeling.

This may also be off topic. But I wonder what exercise/diet will JJH do to get her previous weight/body shape back after giving birth and in just "mere months"? I am quite surprised with Lee Min Jung's on CBM, she looks just like before she got pregnant! (And, I have no doubt that JJH will be too). Again, I'm just curious as I see my girlfriends who'd delivered babies and failed in gaining back their ideal weight.

Check out Sonia Sui. No exercise needed, some people are just blessed with good genes.

They have professional body trainers, expensive doctors and slimming centers that your friends don't have. That, or they're just really lucky people blessed by the 'lucky-genes' god.

Does Jeon JiHyeon even have any weight to lose????

"Does Jeon JiHyeon even have any weight to lose????"

Do you know that she just gave birth? Have you ever observed women who just gave birth???? No matter how much lucky gene one has (this, of course, includes JJH if she does have), a woman will gain some weight after having a baby. I don't say that they'll gain so much weight that you'll notice them from far away. I said about their previous weight.
Besides, I curiously ask about exercise or diet. If you bring up "the professional body trainers, expensive doctors, and slimming center" by assuming that MY FRIENDS are in the situation where they can't afford them, you are making a false, ignorant statement. This is how I read your comment. If you don't have such assumption because ur comment is written and I cant hear your amicable tone on those words, then I'm sorry. But, if you do have such assumption, please swallow it urself! You don't answer my question and you, for whatsoever reasons, have no right by pointing your finger at people you have no idea about.

Whoa whoa whoa. I wasn't even insulting anyone. If your friends can afford all those privileges and luxuries, then all the better for them.

Of course I know she just gave birth but really, some people just don't gain that much weight during and after pregnancy, esp if the baby was born through a natural birth and Jeon JiHyun was already stick thin (well, my opinion) to begin with.

my doctor told me that a woman's body(hormones etc) completely changed after giving birth and it is way harder to lose weight, but not impossible. due to the nature of their jobs these artists do have personal trainers, strict diet and exercise regime to regain their figures, esp before they need to be on camera. also they probably already always have a strict regime all along so it might have been easier for them to fall back into it and stick with it. plus some people do have the tendency to lose weight more easily than others..

i have friends who've given birth more than once yet mostly regained their figures after several months even with no exercise (tho taking care of a baby is no small task!), except for a slight rounding of the breasts/hips area (which their husbands are gaga about lol)

Absolutely right, i think Asians genes are different, i know a Japanese woman whose close to my family gave birth to five children and her body is perfect she didn't even have to exercise to go back to her original shape

Along with Peeps, I'd say that she has access to support that most people can't afford. For one it's likely her nutritionist is one of the best and and so is her chef. This isn't the same thing as (what most people have), a maid that cooks.

In answer to your question, here are a couple of many options:
1) Breastfeeding if there's only a little weight to lose.
2) Post-breastfeeding, an option is the HCG diet. It has its risks but a person can reliably lose 30 pounds in just a few weeks.

I'd be surprised if she had a lot of weight to lose. And would imagine her biggest recovery need would be to re-strengthen her core (muscles) so she naturally burns the belly fat and reduces the edema associated with childbirth.

My sister just had her first baby April 1. She was overweight before the pregnancy. But during the pregnancy gained very little weight. She was freaked out by that. And now 3 weeks later, she's back to the weight she was before she got pregnant. She's still overweight but the number is exactly the same as before.

I think we need to consider various factors:
1) The mother's metabolism, exercise level etc before pregnancy
2) How much weight is gained during pregnancy
3) How much the baby weights (I've always thought that would immediately be subtract at birth bc it just makes sense to me)
4) The placenta
5) How different the mother feels, weight wise, even without being weighted
6) How much the mother moves and carries after the baby is born
7) And how much the mother regularly eats after giving birth (my sister basically eats to produce breast milk)

I'm not trying to insinuate anything. I'm just thinking about the factors that affect each woman differently.

Why All This Negativity people ?????? LMH is a good actor people, u r talking like JJH is an oscar winner or so!
LMH is charismatic & for those who don't think he can act, go watch Gangnam 1970 OK. Hope Both Agree, I feel it's gonna ba an epic drama, in which LMH slays all your baes, You Hateful People!

For Gangnam, he was not even reaching the same level with Kim Rae Won. But it is given as KRW is more senior than him. I can say he can be good depends on the role.
