Park Bo-young courted for new drama from Ms. Temper PD

Yay, Park Bo-young (Oh My Ghostess) is considering a new drama! The downside (I know, how could there be a downside to that?) is that the project is in the works for early next year, which is eeeons away. The new series is on cable network JTBC, and comes from PD Lee Hyung-min of their recent weekend success Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki, and writer Baek Mi-kyung of the romance melodrama Beloved Eun-dong.
The drama is called Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, and there’s very little concrete story information on it, other than the fact that it includes fantasy, comedy, and action, and tells a story that represents women. Well, that’s totally vague, but I like all those things. The “strong” in the title refers to physical strength, so I wonder if Park Bo-young will be beating heads like she did as a gangster girl in Hot Blooded Youth.
She’s up for the title role, which would make her Bong-soon just after she played ghost-possessed wallflower Bong-sun in Oh My Ghostess. That’s not confusing at all. It does seem like a good project for her to choose, since the director’s last drama was a really well-received, refreshing story about a strong female character. I trust that the title won’t go to waste on a weak heroine, and I doubt Park Bo-young would sign on if that were the case. For now, she’s considering favorably. Fingers crossed that it’s also got a great story, and that they find her someone amazing to be her co-star.
Strong Woman Bong-soon is tentatively being planned for a January broadcast, in the Friday-Saturday timeslot.

The new chinese drama he signed on is nearing its end of filming and he will be back in korea in no time. He already has planned to appear in the re-run of musical The Days which will premier on August 26 and run till november some time. He has also mentioned he might be doing a kdrama before enlisting... but that part I'm not sure of.

He has 2 Chinese dramas to air, one of them is Mr. Right and it's done filming and the other is The Whirlwind Girl 2. Currently he's shooting the later, but it's due to be finished in June so after that he doesn't have another drama/movie on his schedule. I think he could fit into this drama schedule since it will be aired next year.

Yeah, no.
Don't get me wrong, I like PBY, she's probably my favorite acting wise out of the younger generation, but she's mainly done films that have done the opposite of great lmao.
I mean, obviously Speedy Scandal and A Werewolf Boy were smash hits, but she's almost exclusively done films for the past ten years or so, and those are the only two real smashes in her filmography.
She had three films out last year, not one of them hit a million admissions, or anywhere close to that, and only one surpassed five hundred thousand admissions.
She's still definitely at the top on experience and name recognition alone, but I don't get why people inflate her position as some "big movie star."

But she is still a movie actress and very popular because of her hit movies, nothing I said was wrong. She has no need to do crappy MBC etc dramas to stay popular, even Kim Hye Soo who is a huge movie star does cable dramas, it's not less than doing dramas on the big channels.

Never doubted her popularity, as I stated in my original comment and I also never said cable is worth less than doing a drama at a big three, although this is jtbc, not tvn, so I guess that argument could be made, but whatever.
This actually makes a lot of sense, I definitely think doing cute cable romantic dramedys make more sense for her. I really don't see PBY as some heroine of a big three melo...at least not quite yet.

@idk - I actually think Park Bo-young is more than popular enough to lead a Big 3 melo - she has the name recognition, past major commercial success and positive reviews locked down. If she isn't going that route, it's by choice - there is no way she was hurting for offers post-OMG.

Possible leads - Ji Chang Wook, Ji Soo, Song Joong Ki, Doojoon.

I don't know much about jtbc's casting funds but they once casted Jung Woo Sung for their 20 episode drama.
I liked Beloved Eundong but that was a melodrama so it will be interesting to see if this writer can also do a good romcom. (P/s: Joo Jinmoo is also an a lister just like Jung Woosung)

Well, in 2016 alone they have Han Ye Seul and Sung Joon for Madame Antoine and Lee Yo Won&Yoon Sang Hyun for Ms.Temper&Nam Jung Ki.
I'm sure if they can cast Park Bo Young, they will be able to cast top actors too.

I hated Beloved Eundong, honestly. The actors were good and it had a good atmosphere, but the writing was tired. Constant separation, amnesia from a car accident, how they barely miss each other 100 times when they were at the same places, the dialogue that repeats itself over and over, etc... put it all together, it felt like a more styled version of something makjang the Big 3 public broadcast stations would place in their weekend timeslot that targets their usual elderly demographic, I dropped it halfway through.
With the way people praise the drama so much, maybe it got better in the second half or something, or maybe because it's from cable and people have this mindset that everything from cable is good. I don't know.
Hopefully this one turns out better. I love Park Boyoung and she deserves good dramas. "tells a story that represents women" yay, I wonder which other women will be cast.

They were in a movie together this year (or was it last year?). I haven't heard whether the film was good. All I know is that Kwangsoo had the head of a fish and when they went to the premiere, the height difference between the two was crazy cute!
Kwangsoo could be leading man material (He is the leading man in many short series and webdramas) if only he did not have such a strong reality persona. People will always associate him as being Kwangsoo from Running Man. Not that it is a bad thing. He wouldn't be where he is today if it weren't for his immense success on that show :D

Nowadays shooting a huge amount of fantasy dramas. PBY perfect for role of giggling gnome in one of them. She showed this in one of the silliest drama Oh my ghost. A talentless actress. And a lot of experience does not help her. Unjustified advances.
