Ahn So-hee offered leading role in MBC’s Shopping King Louis

Former Wonder Girl idol Ahn So-hee (Heart to Heart) may be joining the cast of upcoming MBC rom-com Shopping King Louis, which is currently finalizing terms with Seo In-gook (Police Unit 38) to star. She’s been offered a leading role in it, and while her reps were quick to counter reports that she had signed on, she is reportedly considering the drama.
The drama centers around a chaebol heir (Seo In-gook) who grew up in America and uses shopping to ease his loneliness. Not something I’d know about, nope. He somehow loses his memory and ends up in Seoul, where he meets a sweet country girl, and together they figure out how to make their way in the city, while he also seeks to recover his lost identity. While once he could buy anything he wanted with money, upon meeting the “angel without her wings,” he finds a love that cannot be bought.
Ahn So-hee is described as a lead, but I don’t believe she’s THE lead, because she’ll play the hero’s fiancee who has a one-sided love for him. (I’m guessing they were engaged pre-amnesia?) Nam Ji-hyun (What’s With This Family) is up to play the lovable country girl with whom the hero falls in love, which is great since she was always so compelling in her child actress days (Queen Seon-deok, Will It Snow For Christmas, Angel Eyes) and I love watching child stars grow up into strong adult leads. She’ll also have a secondary loveline with Yoon Sang-hyun (Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-ki), the hero’s rival.
Shopping King Louis is set to follow dimension-bending fantasy drama W and premieres in September.

What actors are those? Because these days, I keep seeing new names am not familiar with. I keep going to google to see if I have watched any of their works. Am actualy glad that there are more opportuinities for more faces than before. 2016 has been gracious!

I've never seen Sohee or Nam Ji-hyun in anything before, and I have a feeling Seo In-gook is doing two dramas this year because he has to enlist soon. Normally he only does one a year.

Reminds me of 2014. He did high school king in the summer n then the kingsface in winter.. Nov til feb the next. Will for me its such a blessing to see more of him seeing only see him as a singer once a year. N with his sort of hiatus on his korea comeback in 2015... The more i see him the better. Haha. At least we know we seeing good acting and not just a pretty expressionless face on tv.

Seo In Guk, Nam Ji Hyun, Yoon Sang Hyun --- I feel like I've been seeing their names a bunch lately. Not a problem because I love them all but it's strange to know 3 out of 4 names.
Maybe I'm just finally learning more actors XD

Whyyy a leading role?! I hate it when idols get leading roles without the talent or experience needed.
Meanwhile great actresses like Im Joo Eun get pushed to the side playing second leads -- and that's if they're lucky. And then they barely show up in the promo material -- looking at you "Uncontrollably Fond"!

It's a second lead role and from what I've seen she's well fit for that, Nam Ji-hyun is the actual female lead (FINALLY, it was about time!)

He gets a pass because of "reasons" all right - the reasons in question being that he's a really good actor and he hasn't turned in a single bad performance in anything since 2012.

Imo, Seo In Guk gets a pass, along with Eunji. They are on a path where people may forget they didn't start as actors soon. I wasn't around for this but like Yoon Eun Hye and Jang Nara. I've talked to a couple fans who were surprised by that.

I really need to see Jung Eunji in another drama soon, I'm still not over Sassy Go Go or the way she pulled off that role without making it feel like 1997's Sung Shi-won.

Me too! Eunji lights up the screen and my life. I watched a few episodes of That Winter midseason and I watch Trot Lovers for her. Shin Sung Rok was in that show too but she was the one who made me tune in every week.
I don't know if I'll ever get over Sassy Go Go (or my desire to clone her so both boys would be happy)
Yes to Jisoo/Eunji. Their chemistry and individual adorableness is topnotch.
P.S. totally forgot about the 1997 ties while I was typing and only remembered when the comment was loading. Shame on me as an old SIG/JUJ shipper. "Oh if only they worked out in real life"

Seo In Guk was never considered an idol, he's a singer. Not all young singers are idols. Besides he has continually grown as an actor since he came on the scene and excels at it. We can't say the same for some of these idol "actors" who have had dramas thrown to them and not improving at all.
I can't say anything for Sohee though because I haven't seen her act in anything so far. She's still a toss up for me.

In Heart to Heart I haaaated her and then ended up loving her so much, which I attributed to some darn good acting. I look forward to seeing her again! Had no idea she was a singer.

No offense & Sorry to say it but doesn't this premise sound too boring & overdone in many aspects?! I don't mean it won't be watchable but that's not anything refreshing too.
Imo MBC is a flop this year, It seems their only promising show is "W" which may will be buried by "UF". They should be more smart in choosing dramas & promote them way better.

TBH I don't think dramas produced by other big station like SBS, KBS are way too better than MBC. DOTS of KBS mainly succeed because of the writer and the actors. SBS also has been a flop except now there is 'Doctor', and its high ratings due to popularity of PSH and KRW.
I don't think drama with a refreshing idea will contribute to a high rating, there are plenty of dramas who have a refreshing idea but it does not represent in their rating. It is because what ppl esp Knetz choose to watch.Knetz seems to choose easy and simple drama to watch and top writer and stars will be among the factor too. My opinion dramas in Big 3 even the premise sounds cliche, ordinary, if it is done right, it can achieve good rating.
TvN,OCN, and jTBC dramas are more refreshing in term of idea If we are truly seek a refreshing and non cliche drama.

SBS had Six Flying Dragons and Grapevine, which actually had interesting stories and were nothing like the average chaebol drama. And Remember was a hit towards the end of last year, so I give them credit for making some attempt to try something different.
MBC.... I can't remember the last time they had an interesting/non-cliched story in a well-executed drama (She Was Pretty succeeded solely on the back of Hwang Jung-eum's efforts).

You are right, I almost forgot there are some good dramas from SBS too especially on last year. This year I still don't find any drama from SBS that I think is good one except SFD. KBS is quite rocking this year and my favorite drama from KBS drama so far is Master God of Noodles.
For MBC only their weekend dramas doing quite well nowadays, in term of rating. And HJE is like a gold for MBC started from KMHM, SWP and now LR. They must find it difficult to let HJE goes to another station.
Well I don't watch every drama and some dramas I'm not even following.But just a mere observation and it might be wrong.

honestly, even MBC's weekend dramas aren't doing more than average by their standards for ratings, it's KBS that rules the weekend drama slot. And Beautiful Gong-shim over at SBS, seems to have a lot more buzz despite being the bottom of the pile in the ratings slot (they have ratings in the teens where SBS weekend dramas usually have single digits). I don't even know what's going on there.
W sounds interesting but the very fact that it's on MBC and not tvN, and that the writer's co-writer isn't in the picture, gives me the willies.

I'm not a fan of LJS but looking at the trailer, I cannot wait for 20 July to come. But it gonna compete with UF and it worried me in term of rating. I hope for the sake of LJS and HHJ, the rating can be decent.

U destined to go with a country bumpkin tht is internet illiterate n as useless as it gets. N both inguk n jihyun are amazing... N as an inguk fan im kinda glad coz i think this is his first chaebol role. So more like im happy coz its good for his portfolio. N we k ow hes gonna slay anyways. Kekekekeke.

Just wanna ask, does her acting good or decent enough as second lead? I've never seen her acting yet, so i can't judge further.
I don't have a problem with idol turn to actor as long as they good. Although not all of them like SIG who has gem of talents in both singing and acting.
I hope this drama turn out to be good. The premise story is cliche and meh, but who know it later..... I trust SIG, he seems know how to pick his projects. That boy surely has good eyes.

It's weird that more than one talented/decent young actress has got called names for a supposed lack of acting skill when they've demonstrably proven theirs.
I remember complaints about IU's acting when the news of her being cast in Scarlet Heart broke, which is so weird to me because her performance in Producers was widely praised. Did everyone just get collective amnesia about that or something?

MBC even don't try to hard. Another flop again. Pilot of a weekend drama even better this.
The only dramas success of MBC this year are: My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol and Marriage Contract, they did good in rating and popularity and both of them are weekend drama.
Monster and GT doing good, but stills not popular.
About web-thurs drama, i think W is the only chance of them. They always choose boring script and poor actors.

I'll give it a try. I liked Nam Ji-hyun in Angel Eyes and The Great Queen. (More in the great queen, but probably because that's one of my all time favorite historical dramas.)
I won't expect much, and maybe the drama will surprise me.
(Maybe I'll get amnesia, forget I read all these negative comments, and really like it.)

The premise sounds absolutely bananas, but as long as the show knows it's bananas and doesn't take itself too seriously as a makjang or something, I think this could actually make a really cute screwball comedy!
Because if they're really going to use amnesia as a main plot device in 2016...I have to hope that they're aiming for ridiculousness...

Really wanted In Guk to be paired with Nam Ji Hyun...Didn't see much of So Hee acting wise to make an opinion but most comments from the famous knet weren't positive about her...did u guys seen her acting?Really hope this show will be good because In Guk deserves it and might be his last role before he goes off to the army...Not gonna loose yet my hopes as the plot sounds clishe and boring but he might have seen something in it if he choose it...at least i know i'll laugh as he's gold in comedy,and well there is more Seo In Guk on my screen!!!

Sohee acting isn't bad... she actually decent and continue to improve. I mean she still need to believe in herself... base off her acting in Heart to Heart. She hardly have many projects to really judge her on. She's smart though (or her management team) because she starting off really slow... as in taking small roles and etc (which is funny because knetz actually praise her for that due to the fact that she was an idol first and you know knetz with their hate for idol turn actor). She could have easily landed a leading role in some teen romance drama but chooses to take the supporting path first.
There was mix comments with her acting in H2H but it wasn't so bad... but recently due to the whole thing at her movie press conference that she's really getting negative comments. I mean as a long time fan ... it don't bother me much because she got shit for her singing and looks when she was a member of Wonder girls too but yet she was still super popular .... so.... idk
Sohee is getting a lots of projects this year... released of Train to Busan (movie), Entourage, and now this... but I really hope she will one day go of this support "gf" role she keep landing =/ also praying that in this drama she won't be playing the annoying second lead... =/
I'm really rooting for her.
