Kang Haneul

  • While it’s wonderful that Kang Haneul’s film career has taken off, I’m looking forward to his return to the small screen with Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Goryeo. (Gah, that title!) He recently wrapped filming on the project and is now positively considering the movie Memory’s Night, about a man who loses his memories due to a harrowing kidnapping incident and his little brother’s attempts to unearth the truth. The thriller will be directed by Jang Hang-joon (Spring Breeze). [My Daily]
  • Ma Dong-seok (Police Unit 38) and Kim Young-kwang (D-Day) are teaming up for a bromance in Wonderful Life, a movie that will be produced by the two actors’ agency, Daydream Entertainment. The details are sparse — all we’re told is that it’s a fantasy human film — but I’ll watch anything with Ma in it. Wonderful Life will be directed by Jo Won-hee (Enemy at the Dead End) and will begin filming before the end of the year for an early 2017 release. [Sports Chosun]

  • Ma Dong-seok, Kim Young-kwang

  • Im Ji-yeon (Jackpot) will make a special guest appearance on SBS’s Doctors, brought about by her relationship with writer Ha Myung-hee (they worked together on High Society). Im’s cameo will air this coming week, although it’s unclear whether she’ll appear in Monday’s episode, Tuesday’s, or both. [Osen]
  • The newest addition to On the Way to the Airport is Choi Yeo-jin (Emergency Couple). She and Kim Haneul started working for the airline at the same time, and while Choi is stony-faced for a flight attendant, she’s deeply maternal and has a strong sense of responsibility and justice. She’s highly committed to her job, and she’ll also be privy to all of her coworkers’ dirty laundry. The drama starring Kim, Lee Sang-yoon and Jang Hee-jin begins filming this month, and will follow Uncontrollably Fond on KBS in September. [Joongang]

  • Im Ji-yeon, Choi Yeo-jin, Kim Ye-won

  • Joining Gong Hyo-jin as a station colleague in Jealousy Incarnate is Kim Ye-won (Only Love). Kim’s been busy — she’s taking the stage in the musical Jack the Ripper, which opens July 15 at D-Cube Art Center, and she’s in the upcoming film Take Off 2. Jealousy Incarnate premieres in August after the conclusion of Wanted on SBS. [Osen]
  • From enemies to besties: Seo In-gook may have gotten him to cough up billions of won in Police Unit 38, but Oh Dae-hwan will play Seo’s neighbor hyung/good buddy in upcoming drama Shopping King Louie. Somewhat hilariously, his character’s name is Jo In-sung, and the descriptions poke fun that “his appearance doesn’t match his name.” He’s currently unemployed and looking for a job, but his radar for finding people to mooch off of is finely tuned — he’ll zero in on his rooftop neighbor Seo and mentor him on adjusting to life in the city. MBC’s youthful rom-com will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning in September. [Joongang]

  • Oh Dae-hwan, Shin Hye-sun, Lee Wan

  • The cast for upcoming film One Day has firmed up nicely: Shin Hye-sun (Five Kids, She Was Pretty) has been cast as wife to Byun Yo-han’s character. Kim Myung-min stars as a father who loses his daughter in an accident and continuously relives that day (think Source Code/Groundhog Day). He’ll try everything to save her life and rewrite history, and Byun, an ambulance driver, will come to his aid. One Day began filming at the end of June. [Star News]
  • Lee Wan (Kim Tae-hee’s younger brother) is returning to dramaland after a seven-year hiatus: In Our Gap-soon, he’ll play a resident at the university hospital. A dutiful son, he followed his parents’ dreams of him becoming a doctor, but he doesn’t have much to show for his achievements yet and he’s forced to move in with his wife’s family after he weds. Our Gap-soon will take the weekend timeslot of Yes, That’s How It Is after it concludes on SBS in August. [E Daily]

Wah! Kim Myung Min in a drama like Source Code?? I'm in!

And poor Lee Wan, still being called as Kim Tae Hee's brother! I hope he establishes a name of his own in the industry through Gap Soon and other projects!

Wait, what about the movie about rape accusation that Kang Haneul is considering/confirming?
Does he invent fourth dimension and could juggle so much work at the same time?

It's obvious Kang Haneul has mastered time travel and can travel back and forth between timings where he can film two movies and a drama at the same time

In all honesty he has to take care of himself

Taking one or two movies at one time are still manageable because filming movie is unlike drama especially the ones that not pre-produced. The filming schedule also adjustable.
About his drama, also pre-produced. I think he can manage his time. Just stay healthy.

I'm so used to seeing Oh Dae-hwan playing the sleazy loan shark/gangster type. It'll be weird seeing him as a nice guy.

Me too but I'm looking forward to seeing him being a good guy.

I'm happy for this role. There were parts in PU38 when I liked him and had to remind myself that he's the bad guy. No matter how funny. XD

Hopefully, I'll have no moral dilemma in Shopping King (aside from the usual "forgive me for having these durty thoughts, Seo In-guk").

He definitely has a charismatic quality to him despite always playing sleaze bags. I have no doubt that I'll warm up to him when he's bromancing SIG. ?

Ikr, have seen him in 3 dramas already this year and he's always playing a despicable character. But I've come to adore Kim Hee-won in Let's Eat 2 after hating him in Misaeng and Angry Mom, so I guess it'll be the same for Oh Dae-hwan. Hehe

Can totally see why ODH has been typecast in those roles (he has a certain "look"), but he has a charm about him and think he will do well as a good guy and a more comedic role.

Anticipating Wonderful Life and Kang Haneul movie, and wishing that soon he'll get his leading role in dramaland..Also reading about Seo In Guk drama cast is hilarious so makes me want to watch it more now...Can't believe Lee Wan is coming back, lost all the hope and believed he retired, soooooooo happy and sad somehow because he could be more established, remembering him as a lead role...

What a dilemma! Ma Dong-seok, whom I adore and would watch him eat bean sprout soup for two hours and Kim Young-kwang who has that Joker plastic surgery permanent mouth smile thing going on that kind of makes me cringe--in a movie together???
I think my Ma Dong-seok love would win out over my Kim Young-kwang jibblies, but I don't know if the movie will ever be released in my area in my language.

kim young kwang is not even a good actor. His acting in d-day was beyond me on how he was able to land a lead in that one supposedly heavy drama theme! Similarly like suzy, ones must wonder how much of a backup these two have?

Suzy at least got support from crews, and fans. Even if she is not a good actors according to some people but with her good work ethics and how crews and actors praised her. She can go far.

No need back up or what ever. Beside that, entertainment work based on recommendation, preferences and word of mouth. Not sure bout KYK though.

I agree. Suzy has the support of her fans so she will definitely land a leading role.

Most of actors like Suzy and some others, not really ggood actors but aside that has a good work ethic, what is the most important thing, their agency to support their activities. Have a talent and good work ethics won't make it easier for many actors because they dont have strong agency to support. Similarly in the case of bad actors keep receivin good offers, because their agency is investing and.doing a great job for them.

I don't mind his acting. I mean, by no means is it great. But I don't know if he deserves to be on level with Suzy. Love yoy, Bae.

I don't think he should have been cast in D-Day and that's one of the reasons I didn't watch it. But he's top 3 in actors I've seen in the most projects. He's not my first choice for anything but he usually does his job and portrays a different character, a convincing enough character.

But maybe that's just my soft spot for all the White Christmas models.

I've only seen him in Pinocchio and he was ok in it but I have more of a problem with his big mouth off screen that makes me not want to watch anything with him in it, sigh.

I recently saw Lee Wan in Running Man and he is so awkward on camera that I think he needs to have a comeback soon to fix that. And now he is cast in a drama. Lol
Well, welcome back Lee Wan!
