Here are alllllllll of your Moon Lovers

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Goryeo is just about ready to launch, which means in less than a week we’re really looking at Mondays to become Moon-days, what with this drama on SBS and its competitor over on KBS, Moonlight Drawn By Clouds. Which, I guess, isn’t such a random observation considering that’s what Monday means in the first place.

There is just a ridiculous number of people in this cast, some of whom I didn’t even know were in the cast until this very post, which features the drama’s production press conference held on Wednesday, August 24. I know there are something like a bazillion princes in the drama, so the size is a necessity, but I just don’t know how we’re going to get to know everybody in a mere twenty episodes, much less develop them and fall in love with all of them. I’ll sure give it a good try, though.

In any case, I’m just about tapped out for things to say about this drama, so I’ll let the pictures do the talkin’. Thankfully, there are a meeeellion of them.

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Goryeo will premiere next Monday, August 29.

Here is your drama hero. He’s Lee Jun-ki (Scholar Who Walks the Night, Two Weeks, Arang and the Magistrate), but you probably knew that already. He looks a little thin, and that makes me just want to feed him things.

The lucky time-traveling heroine who finds herself with the affection of a dozen (give or take) princes is played by IU (The Producers, Pretty Man, Dream High), who’s going by her real name for this project, Lee Ji-eun. Though she’ll always just be IU, won’t she?

Kang Haneul (Misaeng, Youths over Flowers in Iceland, Heirs) takes up the second lead position.

The main leads all together:

Hong Jong-hyun (Mama, Dating Agency Cyrano, Jeon Woo-chi, Vampire Idol) takes on his first villain role in the drama, leaving everyone else to play mostly nice guys.

Like Nam Joo-hyuk (Cheese in the Trap, Who Are You—School 2015, Surplus Princess) who looked so different in some of these pictures that I initially thought, “Oh, who’s this new guy I didn’t know about before? Nam… Joo… Hyuk… I think that’s a name I recognize… OH HIM?”

Exo idol Baekhyun looks fresh-faced and innocent, here to take on his first drama role.

Ji-soooooooo (Doctors, Page Turner, Sassy Go Go, Angry Mom)! I’m always wanting more Ji-soo, and these days we’ll be lucky enough to have him on our screens four days a week, what with JTBC’s Fantastic also starting soon.

And here are the boys all together…

Here’s Kang Hanna (Mom, Miss Korea), posing with Kang Haneul and Hong Jong-hyun.

Looks like Girls Generation’s Seohyun (Passionate Love) will be working a loveline with Nam Joo-hyuk…

…while Yoon Sun-woo (Crime Squad, God’s Quiz 1, Miracle in Cell No. 7) pairs off with Ji Ki-joo (Splish Splash Love, Twenty Again).

Here’s Baekyun again, this time with another singer, Z.Hera (Moorim School).

Ajusshi power! It’s Kim Sung-kyun (Answer Me 1988, Answer Me 1994) with Kim San-ho (Rude Miss Young-ae, Monstar).

Once more, with feeling.

How long will it take me to memorize all casts & their roles? I'm bad at remembering names >< I'll settle with LJK as the prince with a mask (& a pair of piercing eyes ofc) & Jisoo as the hot-but-cute prince. It's good that we'll have more Jisoo soon but four days in a week with a small dose of him on each one is like slow, painful killing...

Honestly, I barely recognized Lee Jun-ki and Kang Haneul. For LJK it's because he's so thin! I've never seen him so thin! He looks sickly. I hope he's eating properly. As for KH his haircut threw me off. Lol.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this. Can't wait!

Glad I'm not the only one to sometimes not recognize an actor. I truly suck at that.

it's Nam joohyuk did get his nose job done? a plastic surgery? his nose looks different, i don't like that NJH blank face expression it makes him looks arrogant I prefer someone like Kang ha neul who is smiling to the camera soo heart warming love that guy!!!

Seeing namjoohyuk standing next to seohyun it's like i'm watching CN Blue Lee Jungshin and SNSD seohyun on press con for A kpop Concert lololol!

I don't see a cute interaction or chemistry between IU and Lee junki on that presscon pict, iu looks not soo lovely, heartwarming personalities humble or else in real life? or bcz she has a boyfriend? But Suzy and Kim woobin looks soo cute and adorable on UF Press con and give some Fans service to reporters cameras, unlike Iu and Joonki.

This drama maybe will get sooo much love from dramabean commenters, Chinese audiences, or International viewers, But i doubt this drama get High rattings or Korean love imo because...
1.It's not kim eun seok dramas!
2.The leading lady got so many scandals under her name.
3. have 2 idols who not yet showing great acting performance nder their name.
4. Leading male last dramas was a flop yet he is not that jisung or jowon or song jongki or wonbin that a known korean actors who have great acting performance.
5. They didn't have a star power actors , like lee minhoo, park shinhye, or even Suzy!
No way this dramas will beat Dots rattings or even doctors! maybe if Moonlovers is lucky neough they will stuck with 10/12% rattings! 20% or even 40%??? NOT SURE.

Well, let's wait and see if your prediction is right. Alas, I still wish to clarify something:
1. IU and Lee Jun Ki are professionals. Their chemistry is yet to be judged but I like that they leave the skinship for the reel screen and not everybody is so open about being chummy with their co-stars. IU and Suzy has different approach.
2. It's not only Kim Eun Sook can write high rated dramas (though most of the time, I can't bring myself to watch dramas penned by her). Scarlet's writer may not have a strong track record but she's working on an adaptation here, so who knows she may perform well here.
3. She has a wide fan-base and apart from scandal with Eun Hyuk of SJ, I don't see others including her dating Jang Ki Ha should even be considered a scandal.
4. Scholar was a flop but not Arang and Joseon Gunman. He did quite well post Military Service and those actors that you mentioned (minus SJK) had their fare shares of flops as well which similar to LJK, not of their faults but for being unfortunate to work on some not so good dramas.
5. Do you actually have any idea who Lee Jun Ki is? Before Lee Min Ho, Song Joong Ki or Kim So Hyun, he was the biggest star post The King and The Clown and that was the year 2006. And you are saying he doesn't have the star power? He may not be as popular before MS (which is normal in entertainment industry), but you better fact check your statement as he is still an in demand actor who gets the privileged to be selective of roles.
I am putting my money on Scarlet and I foresee it will be a big hit.

LOL at the assumptions!
1. It's not only KES's dramas that get high ratings.
2. The leading ladies of DOTS & W had scandals, yet the drama viewing audience didn't seem to mind. Just look at their ratings.
3.The 2 idols are just acting in supporting roles, not even as 2nd leads.
4. The leading male's last dramas were not flops. Even his worst drama SWWTN had ratings of between 7-8% and was 2nd in its time slot throughout its run. As to whether the leading male actor has great acting performance, the majority of Knetz seems to think he has, based on the comments below the articles on MLSHR.
5. Star power actors are no guarantee of high ratings. UF is a good example.

Anyway, why get so hot & bothered about the ratings? Just enjoy the show!

You shouldn't judge their chemistry just based on a few pictures from presscon. Did you watch the entire event to know that LJG and IU have no chemistry? Kim woo bin to suzy unlike IU and LJG you said. Joongi don't need to fake a cute interaction with IU to show their chemistry, they are quite close tho. He call IU by her real name and IU also call him oppa. He always give the loudest clap/cheer when they mention her name (you can watch this during presscon and during fb live interview). He lead her well and she follow his lead in harmony, their interaction is natural.

Honestly what do you mean by " a known korean actors who have great acting performance"
JoonGi is known for his great acting, he is casted in Resident Evil, this Hollywood high grossing movie will never cast your overrated oppa as what they demand is a great acting skill, a real talent, something that acknowledged by professional not someone with an unknown username like you.

If you assume this drama won't be a success in korea. Just wait and see for yourself. Universal studio and YGent wouldn't invest in a drama with bad script. Big company have a trusted team to review all of the projects before they decided to involved with the production. If the chosen one to get their investment is moonlovers. I dare to say the quality must be outstanding.

This drama will not be like that low quality drama which only sell fansservice. You can mark my words!

I won't take up too much space since Del and Livi already pointed out some facts to fill the holes in your theories. I know with how quickly social media works that it's getting harder to stay on top of all the things related to our biases, and that's why you likely don't know a lot about the people that you're speaking about. Suffice it to say, the Kdrama universe doesn't revolve only around celebrities like Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye or Suzy (though, I do like them too). That list is a bit longer than you think. Let me throw out one example. Did you know that Lee Joon-gi is only 4th behind Lee Min Ho in terms of Weibo followers? Higher than PSH and higher than Suzy. And the numbers are huge...over 16 million. LMH or Psy top the list depending on when you check (the numbers vary of course when you look at the top 5).

Anyway, long story short, if you look at the numbers for the overall fan support for many of the cast members in this drama, it's actually quite an impressive list. Much of the cast already bring with them credible resumes, and from what we've seen already in some of the longer teasers, this will definitely be a drama to check out.

I'm in agreement with many others on this thread that there are already a lot of indicators that point to this drama being a huge success.

For all of the cast and crew that worked so hard on it, and ALL the fans supporting it, I sincerely hope that's the case. But at the very least, I am 100 percent certain that none of the things you brought up are real or credible deterents to the success of the drama.

"Exo idol Baekhyun looks fresh-faced and innocent, here to take on his first drama role." his first role? as one when he's there from the beginning to the end? cause I'm pretty sure I've seen him in a drama already.

By the way, there is a great clip on YouTube that gives the historical background to this drama. Some guy who looks like a professor? Didn't get this credentials. But anyway, he was explaining that Goryeo Dynasty set in the drama, of Wang Gun who was the first king who unified the kingdoms and created Goryeo, his many wives and sons, as well as the level of gender equity that existed during the Goryeo dynasty that later dissipated in the Joseon dynasty (I'm going to guess that that was due to the influence of Confucianism and the Han dynasty in China). Apparently, in the Goryeo dynasty sons and daughters were treated equally for property distribution/inheritance, that women could own land and property, that women could also ask for a divorce and have freedom of choice in matters, that there were no caste systems and certainly no "legitimate" vs. "iliegitimate" sons, no "First Wife" every wife has equal status and therefore every son had equal status. Which created this blood battle for the throne since every prince was considered equally qualified. Hence, the setting in Scarlet Heart.

Anyway, it's worth watching, it was very informative.

I think the feeling that Joongi is too thin is because people got use to seeing him heavier and maybe some of his fans are a bit older and heavier themselves.

Now, having said that pretend you don't know him or how he once looked. See the picture of the guys lined up? Joongi is actually about the same height as Baehyun and is just as small boned which explains why they both have such delicate features.
Seeing it with fresh eyes, he doesn't look thin at all.

So happy for press con today cuz I caught LJG's V app live earlier as they were getting ready:
http://www.vlive.tv/video/12788

So much pretty! Gotta go on a pic-saving and vid-downloading spree later!!

Jisoooooooooo!! Make that 5 days a week cuz he's also in variety show, My Ear's Candy, on Thursdays! ^^ Super ecstatic noona here!!

SH's dress is beautiful and she looks good with NJH, who looks sharp in his suit! I like IU's dress as well. Not a fan of Jisoo's blazer as much as I love him... It made him look unproportional with his short pants. Also, what is he wearing inside?! That yellow thing... Looks like PJs if you see his Instagram pics. LOL

Anyway, I love the cast and adored the original version. So, I'm highly anticipating this adaption. So, I have liked all the teasers and can't wait for next week's 3 ep's!!!

On the contrary, I think IU looks so sweet and pretty, and the rest of the girls are really good looking too.

LJK lost 15kg for the role, and he was already slim in the 1st place.

Maybe a poster kdrama isn't a bad idea. It's a really good idea, in fact. 16 episodes of posters. I'd watch.

And here I was wondering why Kang Haneul has short hair for a sageuk drama then I remembered he shaved his hair for Dong-ju...
Oh well, he still looks beautiful as always...

I have seen many positive and negative comments floating around on LJG's weight.

My suggestion is please tweet LJG to ask then trying to guess it here.

FYI.The BMI for 1.78m at 66-67kg is 20. It is still within the healthy range.

I remember clearly he mentioned that he once hit 80kg in a Vapp. After shed 15kg, the math is 65kg plus and minus. All these are just numbers. As long as JG thinks it is right to slim down for his role and he feels happy with his body. We should respect him He looks good in clothes now.

Well, beauty lies in the beholder's eyes.

Should enjoy his new moview and drama!

I loveeee this drama. Amazing cast!! ( both beautiful and extremely talented).
Dumbfounded as to why the ratings aren't higher.
IU is an amazing actress , as always.
Baekhyun is doing an amazing job as the comic relief/ cute /cheeky prince (don't understand why he is being criticized, its like people don't understand his role.
The only prince I wasn't familiar with, as a actor, was Lee Jun-k, but damnnnnnnn, he looks sooo good in the drama and of course he is an amazing actor.
