Yang Se-jong up to romance Seo Hyun-jin in Temperature of Love

Aw, will the second lead get the girl this time? You know I love it when that happens. There’s a potential drama reunion in the works for Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim alums Seo Hyun-jin and Yang Se-jong, who are both considering the leading roles in the new SBS romantic-comedy drama Temperature of Love, along with Kim Jae-wook (Voice), who has signed on for a supporting role.

Romantic Doctor was Yang Se-jong’s acting debut less than a year ago(!), in which he played Yoo Yeon-seok’s uppity rival surgeon who harbored an unrequited love for Seo Hyun-jin. He seemed like a puppy in that drama, but after that and Saimdang, Light’s Diary, he’s since gone on to steal the show as a set of clones in OCN’s sci-fi thriller Duel. He’s so good at playing three different characters in that drama that I actually found myself thinking about a week ago, Oh the evil clone is the better actor… waitaminute…

Temperature of Love is the newest drama from writer Ha Myung-hee of Doctors, High Society, and Warm Words, and it’s an adaptation of her own novel titled Nice Soup Does Not Answer the Phone. The rom-com is about an online friendship that sparks between an aspiring screenwriter and a chef with the handle “Nice Soup.” Seo Hyun-jin has been offered the role of a drama writer who would describe herself as frank and reckless. She’s a practical realist who can’t really lie, and she makes snap judgments and throws herself headlong into things. She’s intelligent and a little odd, and her nickname is “Curiosity Heaven.”

Yang Se-jong is up for the male lead, a chef-owner of a Michelin-star restaurant called Good Soup. He seeks out good-natured people, but he’s very clear about his boundaries, and he hates being controlled by other people or managing others. He’s a competitive person who loves to win and enjoys sports, and though he seems perfect on the outside, his Achilles heel is his mother, who’s left him scarred.

Kim Jae-wook has been cast to play an entertainment agency CEO who likes Yang Se-jong’s cooking and becomes partners with him to open Good Soup. But he’ll also fall for the heroine, and they’ll eventually go from business partners to romantic rivals. Kim Jae-wook is also coming off of a recent OCN thriller (Voice) in which he played a frightening psychopath, so right now I can only think of the potential rivalry between Yang Se-jong’s evil clone and Kim Jae-wook’s evil killer, which would be totally badass but very disturbing in a romantic comedy.

The drama is about people with scars who are adrift, discovering the love inside themselves and love for other people. The four leading characters will bump up against one another’s worldviews and try to convince each other that their way of life is best, and grow along the way. I like the sound of it, but what I like even more is the sound of Seo Hyun-jin back in dramaland as a rom-com heroine, and Yang Se-jong getting a chance to win her heart.

Temperature of Love is slated for a September premiere in the Monday-Tuesday slot following Falsify.

I will love for Hyun Jin to be back in dramaland too! But I have some slight reservations of her playing a bold and slightly reckless character, simply because that's quite similar to her breakout role in OHYA. I don't want her to be typecasted just into that one kind of heroine because if her romantic doctor performance doesn't show, she could act out completely different personalities!

agree, but even in romantic doctor, I saw haeyoung (and soo-ji; her character in Let's East 2) a bit when she's not being a doctor.

I have to admit that the title TEMPERATURE OF LOVE leaves me cold. The novel's title, Nice Soup Does Not Answer the Phone, is much more memorable.

I do hope YSJ accepts the offer! Duel's going to end this week and it would really be awesome if I'd be able to see him again months after.

When will Kim Jae Wook leave the second lead dungeon and see the light. He would also have been perfect for Yoo Yeon Seok's role in Mr. Sunshine since the character grew up in Japan and he's fluent in Japanese...Alas...not his time still..sobs

It's hard to believe Yang Sejong debut is less than a year ago. How does that happen? I am really impressed by his performance in Duel.

Anyway, Yang Sejong character sounds a bit like his character in Romantic Dr.Kim. But then again, after playing three characters (plus character A playing character B) in Duel, this is a good choice for him. But, I hope to watch him play a different character each time. He's showing potential at being a very versatile actor.

And Seo Hyun Jin character sounds like a mix between every character she has played since Let's Eat 2: frank, reckless, makes snap judgments and throws herself headlong into things and a little odd. Perhaps, I am the minority here. But, I am in the middle of rewatching Another Oh Haeyoung because it's shown in tvn Asia now and Let's Eat 2. I also finished Romantic dr. Kim for the first time not too long ago. Her character in Romantic dr. Kim is perhaps the most different, but when she's not doing surgery or being the emergency doctor, I can see the Haeyoung and Soo-ji from Let's Eat 2. Maybe I get too confused. Lol. I just hope she doesn't get typecast.

I hope she doesn't get typecast either...but that's probably unavoidable, given that SHJ still looks and sounds like herself.

I really love watching that actor in Duel so I'm happy to hear that he won't be missing for long on our screens ♥

Wow, I'm happy for Yang Se-jong but at the same time, Kim Jae-wook is playing second lead again, to a rookie at that.

Please say yes~~~

On another note, what is with Kim Jae Wook's agency? Why can't he ever be in a lead role??

The cast is over all good but I'm wary of the writer.. Doctors was good in the 1st half but the plot became a mess when they pursued the revenge angle..I only watch High Society for park hyung shik and his love line. The rest was so frustrating makjang.
So I don't know if I'm gonna watch this drama..maybe I'll wait for some reviews before committing myself.

Like many others here, I'm excited to see Seo Hyun Jin back on screen.
But what I really want, if I'm being honest with myself, is for her to do another drama opposite Eric Mun... I absolutely ADORED them in Oh Hae Young Again.

I guarantee it won't never happen. The loyal fans of Another Miss Oh already hate Eric Mun too much that they thought he betrayed her lol.

This is noona romance drama though- that's why they casted a younger actor. KJW-SHJ pairing won't be a noona romance

I also want Kim Jae Wook to get his lead role, just like how I want some other actors who are still playing second fiddle but maybe there's something interesting in this role which made he accepted. You can piss off, but it is not that Yang Se Jong stole the role from anyone.

Hi~~
Nononono I'm not pissed off at YSJ. I wasnt implying that he stole the role either.

I'm just pissed off at the casting because YSJ looks too young. I was just too sad to see KJW play another second lead. That's what I was mad about.

I love Yang Se jong..and Im happy to hear that he has an upcoming drama..
I like hyun-jin too but I think she's too mature for Se-jong. I hope they will pair him w/ a younger actress.

I want to be happy for YSJ landing a lead role so fast because he's promising. But why is Kim Jae-wool being sidelined once again! The unfairness of it all makes me mad.

I love the 3! Am I weird if I say I'm happy that Yang Sejong is the lead but sad at the same time because Kim Jaewook is the second lead. When will Kim Jaewook be the lead??
