Nana up to romance Park Hae-jin in Four Men

Man, this is going to be one confusing love triangle (pentagon?). Upcoming romantic thriller Four Men has an offer out to Nana (The Good Wife) to join Park Hae-jin as the female lead. This is the show that was touted in earlier reports to be the prequel to JTBC’s Man to Man, which also starred Park Hae-jin and aired from April through June this year.

If she signs on, Nana will play a female detective who gets caught up in various events when she meets a man with the same face as her dead lover. Park Hae-jin will be playing four different characters — or personas — in Four Men, two of which will be the detective’s long-lost lover and the mysterious man who appears before her after his supposed death. I think I’d be okay with Nana as the female lead, ‘cause I did really like her role in tvN’s The Good Wife, though it’s hard to evaluate her acting abilities after just one performance. Park Hae-jin has a pretty good track record regarding chemistry with his co-stars as well, so I’m not too worried.

It’ll be interesting to see if the show is more of a conventional spy drama given their “romantic thriller” descriptors, as opposed to Man to Man’s comedic tone. I’m not sure which I would prefer, either, because while I did enjoy the campy vibe in the JTBC show, and definitely enjoyed the show less when it got toned down during certain parts, I’d love to see Park Hae-jin playing a badass spy in a straight action thriller. And, if it is, I believe that this director, PD Oh Jin-seok of Yong-pal, would deliver some pretty awesome spy action. Writing is Kim Je-young, who wrote the screenplays for films Wonderful Radio and Miss Wife, and who is, coincidentally, also the director for the Cheese in the Trap film. He and Park Hae-jin will be having the quickest reunion ever.

Early reports indicated that Four Men was being shopped over at SBS, but there hasn’t been any confirmations on whether the show has found a home with the broadcaster. There’s no tentative broadcast date, but we can probably expect to see Four Men on the airwaves sometime late this year, or early 2018.

I haven't watched The Good Wife, but almost everyone who watched it had good things to say about Nana. So here's to hoping this will be a good casting.

I watched it, and I think she was okay. She was good, but not like, extraordinary, y'know? She pretty much had the same facial expression(s) throughout the entire drama, but like, not frustratingly "dead." Not Krystal. She emoted appropriately and did a solid job.

... It's an interesting strategy. Because for some, a tangled, confusing premise is reason enough not to even bother watching the show to make sense of the thing in the first place.

I think what they might do is have Kim Sul-Woo (from Man to Man) be her lover who dies. Considering that's his MO to cut off ties after a mission is complete. And the person she ultimately falls for is someone different. How they all look the same is another question. Maybe government testing? Clones? Considering Kim Sul-Woo was a near perfect soldier it could make sense.

She's good in The Good Wife. I'm glad that someone notices her acting skill, but I'm a lil bit unsure whether she's lead worthy. I'll give her a benefit of a doubt, who knows if she can surprise audience with her talent in acting.

I think after given the fact she played an investigator in the good wife she'll be good at playing a detective

... so we're gonna see him romance another girl who isn't Kim Min-jung's character..? :s I'm not sure how to feel about this, about having to ship this potential new couple with the uneasy knowledge that he ends up with Cha Do-ha in the end... is the show's gonna end in heartbreak? to give reason and continuity to Man to Man? or not, and plunge us in forever confusion wondering why did he leave yet another girl? or is the romance in this story to be more of an unrequited love on Nana's part...

sooo many questions. guess I'll have to watch to find out! ?

Here's to hoping instead of a prequel, they'll make a brand-new show instead. Tbh, Man to Man isn't the best show to have prequel on.. I could be wrong.. And I'll ne happy yo be surprised

So this sounds worse than Yoon Doo‑joon's character in Let's Eat where he meets a new girl every new season (maybe even a 3rd girl in Let's Eat 3?)! I can't handle the whiplash from all these broken romances. It also makes the lead seem very frivolous since he keeps changing girls every time, even after claiming he loves them so much in he first place.

As i hear from a PHJ's interview, Saja isn't a real prequel of Man to man. Just some of the element link those two drama together.
Meaning: Kim Seol Woo is not the lead character of Saja.

So yeah sure we will see a character play by PHJ in Saja, romancing the leading lady but that wont be Kim Seol Woo

I would prefer it that way actually. From your comment it feels like Saja would be more of an alternate reality type story line, like they sometimes do in comics, where some elements of the story remain the same but its mostly a stand alone thing with no real connection to the main/ original story line. That would work out much better with the character as well since it kind of hard to take someone seriously when they are being so whisy-washy about their feelings.

or.. this is the story about his parents :)

Or like i said earlier, there is a reason why plastic surgery is affordable and simple as changing clothes in dramaland... nana=cha doha with added amnesia

Or twist endng... she is one of those corrupt detectives

Or her dad who is a plastic surgeon finds this man with distorted face.. and since he lost his daughter to a boy whom he loved as a son.. he plans to give this new man the same face as his could be son in law.. whom his daughter loved

I believe in Yongpal PD for awesome action choreography. For plot, not so much.. And this is the same PD as Sassy Girl, right? I only know Nana as Korea's Pretty Face. I believe in PHJ's romancing abilities so as long as girl can be decent, its fine. Please, please, drama, be good.

Nana is very green but she had Jeon Do-yeon and PD Lee in "The Good Wife."
Jeon, Song Kang-ho, Han Suk-kyu especially are not only great mentors for growing actors but they know when to compensate, when to step back and let the newbies gain confidence.

A drama like "The Good Wife" with heavyweight actors from the film industry are usually concern more with the overall success of the drama than showing off their individual talents.

Hopefully she learned a lot from her debut drama and costars.

I only saw a little bit of Nana in The Good Wife and I'm not sure she's ready to jump straight to a lead role. I'd prefer more smaller supporting roles first, but we'll see.

Oh what beauty. It'd be too much for me to handle with her and PHJ. I really liked her in The Good Wife and my only complaint about the character is that there wasn't more of her.

That actually wasn't the first time I saw her in something. I actually saw her in a Chinese film and I also thought she did well there (dubbing aside because that always looks horrible lol).

I'm cool with this. I never finished Man to Man so I'll just treat this as a different story lol.

We will see if she can do well or not in this drama if she accepts. While she did well in The Good Wife, I would prefer if she at least actively taking supporting roles at least for one-two years first before finally get her lead role. But luck sometimes is unpredictable.

*Opens car boot (look up google for meaning) and chucks you inside, slams it shut and drives off with Oppa*

2

I know what a car boot is *glares*

OMG!! You are kidnapping Oppa?!?!?

*Summons her green powers, kicks the car boot open, jumps on the car, breaks your window, pulls you out of the car, takes the steering wheel and saves Oppa*

1

*Oppa breaks free, brakes, opens the car door, boots (LOL) you out, saves me, piggybacks me back to safety, takes over the steering-wheel, and drives off with me on his back (he couldn't put me down) into the sunset*

1

Wait.. how is Oppa going to brake when I'm the one driving? It's not like he threw me out of the car then braked.. no, he braked and then "booted" me out of the car?!?! I guess you're making up stuff, dropped on that empty street watching me drive away with Oppa, your mind is making all sort of stuff!

2

No, it's you talking and gesturing to the air on that empty street, I'm the one driving away with Oppa.

1

*hears you screaming gibberish into the air, looks at you from the wing mirror, tears up but keeps driving away*

1

*Feels the ground shake, sees you running after the car in the rear view mirror with crazed face, tells Oppa to step on it if he wants to live another day.*

Nana looks really elegant and her acting in her last project was praised by most of the people. So I am happy for her and anticipating her work. Park Hae Jin though is different case. Grossly overrated and uni-dimensional. And this show was a mess too. Why do we need a prequel for it is beyond my understanding. The response to it was underwhelmimg in Korea as well as internationally.

Having watched Man to Man and seen PHJ's character it would be fun watching his reaction to the situation. As he loves car explosions and leaving behind broken hearts, returning to the place he joyfully left before will be quite funny.

However, I wonder if it will be a real prequel or faked like his death in relationships. To be honnest I didn't get why he fell for the girl in first place in Man to Man. A one sided love full of misunderstandings will be interesting to watch.
