Kim Jung-hyun stars in KBS’s last Drama Special this year

Yay, I’m so happy to hear that Kim Jung-hyun is coming back to the small screen, even if it’s only for one measly episode. He will be joining fellow School 2017 alum Jang Dong-yoon in starring in a KBS Drama Special, though not in the same one, sadly. The title for Kim Jung-hyun’s drama short is roughly translated as Buzzcut Love, and will be the last of KBS’s Drama Specials this year.
The human melodrama will center around a 26-year-old woman whose brain cancer has relapsed and the man who shaves her head. The show will depict her last escape in this life, which sounds so bittersweet, romantic, and tragic at the same time. There’s no information on who’s been cast as the female lead, but I just know Kim Jung-hyun is going to rip my heart out in this.
Buzzcut Love sounds like the kind of tearjerker I tend to avoid, but since it’s just the one episode, I might have to watch it (with a massive pile of tissue boxes at the ready). Kim Jung-hyun totally won me over with his performance as the way-too-swoony-for-his-own-good high schooler Hyun Tae-woon in the latest installment of the School franchise, and I’ll be the first in line for any of his future dramas or films, starting with Buzzcut Love. And if the reports are anything to go by, we’ll hopefully see him in other projects soon, since it sounds like he’s been inundated with offers.
The cast and crew of Buzzcut Love held their script read yesterday, and is scheduled to air on November 5. Take my tears, Kim Jung-hyun, I offer them up gladly!

Great to hear that he has had a lot of offers come his way. Hoping he chooses the right one(s). Sometimes a short can be amazing/gratifying if done right, so I'll definitely be watching this.

I believe he has served already. There are pictures of him in his military uniform online. He also only debuted two years ago. Most Korean men serve their mandatory military service after their second year of college in their early 20's, although it depends for each person. Considering his age, it is likely he served sometime before he debuted.

Yup he has! He mentions it in this interview (sorry it's in Korean and I don't think it's translated anywhere): http://m.ytn.co.kr/ent_view.php?s_mcd=1406&key=201709161103017189&pos=001 He went in when he was 21 (Korean age), and he says it's one of the top 5 best decisions he made in his twenties 😆 I have to agree though. Jang Dong-yoon also got his military service out of the way early.

This might sound unrelated but I kind of picture Kim Jung-hyun as the male lead in the webtoon "The Moon that Rises in the Day" (maybe due to his headband days as Mori lol). It's a story about a modern-day woman who possesses her incarnation from the Shilla Dynasty in order to appease the latter's soul. The drama adaptation is under negotiations, if I understood well, and it is aiming for a 2018 premiere. So it would be nice if Kim Jung-hyun would be approached for the role :D

Hi Sabu 😄, Hi Sunbae 😄, my day began way too happily : turned on the laptop, first site to check Dramabeans then internal screaming (was difficult not to make some noise) I saw the article of Kim Jung Hyun return 😍😍😍. I already knew it thanks to Sunbae 's post ;) but I was still surprised by the article hahaha. It might sound too melo for me but let's be honest I'm watching Rebel Thief now and I'm completely biased he's got a bad guy character you have to hate but I'm just saying to myself "let's wait he's going to change, let me appreciate his presence on my screen" : I'm gone too deep 😍😍😍 hahaha. Give me the Bit-Tae-rsweet I'll change it with my biased eyes 😍 😜

OK the script reading was held already, but does it means they did it without the female lead? LOL. I'm quite confused here 😂 I'm excited to see Mori-tae back, but I hope the actress chosen is a good actress! This seem to be a tear-jerker one, so hopefully someone who can emote well.

I foresee that in the future, dramas will be produced without female or male lead(depending on gender of viewer). You can then project yourself into the drama as lead opposite your fav actor. Just upload a certain number of images/videos of yourself and the software will transpose them onto the actor you are substituting.

The story kind of reminds me of Lee Jong Seok's Drama Special a few years back. I didn't finish watching cause I prefer happy and funny stories. Think I'll have to pass this one too. But I'm sure there'll be many more KJH works coming which I'll enjoy.
