[Giveaway] Win a 1-year subscription to watch dramas on Kocowa
by girlfriday
We’re always happy to give away free stuff to Beanies, especially when that free stuff is hours and hours (and hours) of drama-watching! We have 10 annual subscriptions to give away to our readers from streaming service Kocowa, which is currently available to everyone in North and South America (sorry, everyone everywhere else in the world!).
Kocowa is a partner of the Big 3 stations in Korea—KBS, MBC, and SBS—so the content you’ll find there is from those three networks, all subbed in English. The shows range from the newest dramas (Mystery Queen 2, Radio Romance, Should We Kiss First, Return) to variety and K-pop music shows (Running Man, Infinite Challenge, Weekly Idol, Inkigayo). Everything is available through the website and the app, and the service is also now available on Chromecast.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment down below telling us where you watch your dramas these days. Winners will be chosen at random. We accept no responsibility for the hours that you will spend binge-watching dramas for the next year of your life if you win. Enter at your risk.
Giveaway rules:
- Leave a comment below telling us where you watch your dramas these days.
- Make sure to use a registered account on Dramabeans so we can contact you if you win.
- Giveaway will be open until Monday, March 12, 2018 at 8:00 PM (Pacific Time). Winners will be contacted directly.
- Reminder: The annual subscription can only be used in North America and South America.

I watch on Kocowa when it's been less than 24 hours since it aired because then it's free, otherwise I watch on Viki

I didn't know about the free watching. I've been boycotting just because I'm mad that they took away so much content from DramaFever and Viki. :(

I usually watch my Korean and Taiwanese dramas on Viki (I'm a Chinese QC on there as well), and then watch the newer(-est) C-dramas on Youtube from the official broadcaster's Youtube Channel =)

I watch wherever I can find it (especially dramas that won't be found on the main streaming sites) but mostly on Viki or Dramafever. Sometimes VIU too. I also watch on Netflix since they've expanded so much in the drama department. I haven't heard of Kocowa before but I'm gonna check them out now.

I mostly satisfy my Kdrama binge watching on Dramafever and YouTube. I'll be grateful to win a year pass on Kocowa since they have a monopoly of the shows that I want to watch but currently unable to. Kdramas are definitely addicting and a catharsis for me.

When a drama gets annoying, the Viki comments are gold and make me laugh so much. I'm just replying because I'm in the wrong part of the world and can't play

The Viki Peanut Gallery of running comments is a true source of comedy and snark. Latest case in point: Check out the comments on "The Maid of the Blind Master", one of the most hilariously bad movies I've seen in any language. I destroyed 90 minutes of my life and more than a few brain cells laughing at the movie and the comments.
I believe Viki has the best translations with the occasional cultural explanation thrown in. It gives the viewer a greater understanding of the situation.

Sometimes I find it easier to get lost in a movie or drama when it's.... not good, I sometimes get too invested and emotional so s k me times it's good to just laugh

I watch on Viki 1) because the timed comments take the drama watching experience to the next level, and 2) because I stopped watching DramaFever after the great Level 7 Civil Servant Clusterf*ck of 2013 (even if it did produce some of the best recaps and fan art of all time).

I watch them wherever I can find them. I have used Kocowa. I have both Viki and Dramafever subscriptions also. Occasionally Netflix if it's nowhere else. Viki has the best subs, but can sometimes be painfully slow getting there.

Where don't I watch? I watch in my bed, at my desk, in the bathroom, even in another state while on vacation cause I need my fix yo. Oh wait...you meant what platforms?
Oh well then for me that would be a) wherever I can legally find them and b) whichever has the one show (read many) I am looking for at the time. So the usual suspects: DramaFever, Viki, Kocowa, Hulu, heck even Crunchyroll back in the day when they had them. Not to mention good old Netflix who promised me Age of Youth 2 on their Coming Soon list months ago and has yet to deliver (seriously though, anyone else in North America having this problem? I'm beginning to think they are witholding it from me personally since it seems like everyone else has gotten to see it).

I'm beyond frustrated that Age of Youth 2 never even turned up on Netflix! You're definitely not the only one. I admit, I didn't necessarily wait to watch it there, but I resent that Netflix kept other places like Viki or Dramafever from licensing it. If they were never gonna release it, they could have allowed the die-hard fans of the show to watch it legally and support the show.

I'm not being smug but ... I've got AoY2 on Netflix. Must be 'part of the world' related. Maybe a north american licensing issue?

Oh the Crunchyroll reference took me back. When I first started watching dramas that was the only quality site I could find. “Boys over Flowers” and “Princess Hours” brought me down a rabbit hole that I have yet to climb out of.
Viki is the current favorite because of the timed comments, but DramaFever releases subs quicker.

My first choice is always Viki, followed by DramaFever. That is, unless it’s a currently airing drama that is available on both sites, like Mother. DF is always faster with the subs so I go with them because I’m impatient. 😛
