Awesome! Congrats to all winners ššš»š„
I haven't had time to check all of them out, been out of DB for most of this week.
Thank you once again @wishfultoki for organizing this. I never thought I would contribute a poem online since I've never written one in my life. I had fun trying to do them since APAD poem fever started.

Chukahae @greenfields! I think most of us can relate to being at least momentarily mortified upon discovering spelling and/or other mistakes in our posts-- but I love that DB is a place where we can be perfectly imperfect, and no one is judging us for our mistakes. This is a blog, not an academic journal-- even the recaps have mistakes sometimes, but I find that refreshing. DB is an online home for many of us, and a home should feel comfortable-- free from the pressure to be perfect. So let's just make ourselves at home, shall we? *tells that to my perfectionist side*
And congratulations @greenfields for your summer vacay being only one day away! Hip hip hooray!

How do you get over a heartbreak?
My ex-boyfriend and I have a 10 year-age gap. He says I have everything he ever wanted and he is still not in love with me after 6 months. So we broke up but his reason is somekind hard to accept. Especially since he turned me into a friends with benefits while hunting for other girls. I feel worthless and depressed and I still can“t let go...I even send a birthday present to his mother...I“m bonkers.

You need to do the obvious one which is the hardest but it will make other things after that look easy.
Cut the connection completely, online and offline.
I used lots of way because I was so determine to move on since my ex get engaged immediately after we broke up. People can gave you many ways to move on but if you refused to accept it's over, others can't help you. You need to train your brain that you can get over this.

Seconding this. Cut off any contact that can make you see him. It will be hard, especially if you have mutual friends, and if those friends somehow always keep in touch with him (in IG, FB, TW etc), block/mute them, so you won't see him on newsfeed. Trust me this will be very helpful.

Youāre not crazy. Itās hard when you think you found the one, especially when they use you for companionship (and more) even after the rejection.
My advice? Delete all his text messages on every platform, and when you start thinking about him, force yourself to focus on something else (news, books, dramas...) and train your mind not to go down that track anymore. It will take a while, but one day you will realize you donāt think about him anymore, and that will be such a great feeling to carry you forward (at least it has been in my experienceš). Because you deserve more than to be a side girl.
Fighting! Oh, and have a day where you turn off your phone and just binge watch a whole drama, preferably one where jerks get their comeuppance, or the stakes are so epic it takes your mind off everything.

Awww, florance š I'm sorry. Please don't feel worthless, you've just been through a (sadly) necessary learning experience and experienced love, including for his Mom. He's a cad but, like all kdrama heroines, you were going to have at least one of those in the story of your life, right? Sorry to say, maybe more than one! If this happened to your favorite kdrama girl, or your best friend or sister, what would you want her to do to help herself? Start doing that for yourself.

Thank you all for advice. It“s really hard for me because I really loved him and he gave me this feeling that this could be endgame but obviously it wasn“t. I deleted all his messages yesterday, even his number. But I feel empty...I hope it gets better.
Right now, I“m enjoying My Ahjussi very much since it“s so realistic and love is not always rosy and love could be unrequited and still be beautiful. But yeah....Pretty Noona who buys food is a little hard to watch for me.

Yeah, don't watch romance drama for this time. Just focus on other genre and find a hobby. For me, I don't even listen to any current songs since most of them are about broken heart or in love. My final goal is to reduce his image in my mind as much as possible. So, I will avoid any conscious or unconscious trigger to lead me.

@florance, I feel for you (Iāve been there!) and I understand how letting go is hard.
As @chahaya noted, your brain needs training. Healing takes time but there are things you can actively do to at least get your brain processing the breakup more quickly.
Would you be willing to try this Design Thinking exercise? It requires a bit of a "data dumpā but it gets to the heart of āuser needs.ā
ROUND 1
On paper or Post-its, write down all the pain points you had in this relationshipānote ALL of his negative qualities and how he failed you. Data can include:
-How often did he call you/vs when you called/texted?
-Time you spent together getting closer vs. shagging.
-How did your friendship circles connect?
-Quality of the sex, kissing, skinship, affection
-How did he support you generally? Did you talk about hopes and dreams? Problems at work or with family?
-Anything and everything, from the smell of his farts to his stupid laugh
ROUND 2
Then, on different colored Post-its (or marker if youāre writing on paper), write down the following:
-What makes you feel loved and valued?
-What qualities youāre looking for in a partner
-What qualities do you look for in a relationship?
ROUND 3
How do your desires mesh/conflict with the themed pain points you identified in Round 1? Stick your Round 2 Post-its next to the themed problem areas from Round 1
ROUND 4
Pull it all together with user statements for each theme. Itāll be something like,
What you desire
How he fails to measure up
What you desire
How he fails to measure up
What you desire
How he fails to measure up
etc.
āāāāā
Heartbreak is normal and the pain will pass. This romanceāas unequal as it wasāwill help you know yourself better and clarify your needs. I send my best wishes to you!

So sorry to read this. You have been given all good advice from everyone so I won't add anything but this. The fact that he is a jerk is NOT YOUR PROBLEM and really has nothing to do with you.
Really it doesn't mean that you are worth less, or not worthy - but he is lacking in some way that he can't commit to whatever.
Hang in there, take time for yourself and be good to yourself because you deserve it.
period. Sending you much love/encouragement/strength/hugs and all sorts of good things...

*hug* Like what everyone said, what you are going through is really hard. A very good friend of mine just went through a nasty divorce and there were even several times that she thought about getting back with the psycho. Luckily, she had us and her family to run to for advice, comfort and reassurance. My friend kept busy during this time and spent her time working to keep her mind off things. She used work as a distraction. When she's feeling sad, she made sure that she either had her parents or close friends to talk to. Chin up and I wish you all the best.

There's unfortunately only one known cure for a heartbreak and that's time. Time away from him if that's possible (I don't know your situation, maybe you work or study together). This sadness will pass.
You know that when you posted this here, nobody was going to tell you that being friends-with-benefits and feeling worthless and depressed was a good thing. So I think that maybe you put this up here for us give you some virtual hugs and courage?
So here it is: you've got this. You can do this. You can move on from him by not seeing him anymore. Do other stuff. Meet up with your friends. The busier you are (with fun stuff if possible) the easier it is not to think about him.
But having a good cry every now and then is healing too. Put on a sad movie or drama and just pretend that this is what you're crying about. Sing along loudly to all the break-up songs.
And then move on.
Trust me, it will get better.
Fighting!

Great advice from everyone here. Mine is, you say 'I'm bonkers', but are you accepting you actually might be? There is nothing unusual about your situation, lots of women have gone through it, but at root of it is a fear of abandonment. Chances are you knew before he did the relationship wasn't going anywhere but didn't know how to end it, or even want to end it, because it's the security of the relationship that's most important to you, not the man in it. And maybe that's what was missing for him too - could you really be loving and appreciating him when he treated you poorly, or was being in a romantic relationship the high point.
Just putting myself in his shoes not yours for a moment: when people feel needy or desperate or clingy they do things like provide friends with benefits and send gifts to mothers of a man who has made it clear he's done romantically. All you're doing for him is proving his point that something was missing.
For all of us, due to absent or distant dad's or other reasons, more than 50% of us suffer a fear of abandonment. This can play havoc with your dating life so hie yourself down to a counsellor.
Lastly, if you truly believe you do love the real him, not an idealized him or the relationship itself, you could have it out with him. Tell him you feel like a fool, he's been an ass, you haven't been real together, and you can see how your neediness came across as not about him, but you do truly love him and the only way to prove that is by cutting him out of your life unless he wants to try again for a real relationship.Chances are he'll say no. But months later when you're over him, you can congratulate yourself on giving it your best to the end - not with 'benefits but with truth, love and honesty. There's a dignity in that we can all respect.

So, yeah, drama slump. I am in one as well. I partially blame Netflix, since any show that they grab will not be available leagally in the US till itās finished airing in Korea. I understand that this is their across the board distribution model in the US but why make episodes available for other countries not long after airing?
So, right now the only two Korean shows I am watching are weekend ones - My Husband Mr. Oh and The Good Witch. And I even skipped The Good Witch last weekend because the Soompi board was all about the plot stalling and the heroine still deceiving the hero into thinking her sister is the woman he loves.
Otherwise, Iām watching the TW Drama Meet Me @ 1006, just not loving it as much as I did in the beginning. Possibly because of the reporter heroine and the male second lead (the prosecutor) being naive and basically as dumb as bricks, especially about things they should be alert to, considering their jobs. And even the male lead not asking himself the obvious question about the heroineās current whereabouts. The show still has an interesting concept, and Iāll keep watching.
I dropped A Poem a Day because āwhoās the male half of the OTP?ā Is one of my least favorite KDrama Tropes. I may pick it up again after it finishes airing, because I really didnāt have a strong preference. I just hate feeling manipulated by the writers.

I'm not in a drama slump but waiting for a something good to telecast.
I have dropped 1006 - Heroine is the epitome of annoyance and how in the world 2nd male lead is a prosecutor. Hero showed some IQ in 1st few episodes but even he caught the virus of heroine and became dumb. Over and over i felt pity for the hero for dealing with these atrocious characters.
A poem a Day is your typical kdrama romance nonsense. Dropped it right on time.

I had a terrible week this week in Real Life (I'll spare you the details). So then when our little ship got torpedoed by a pesky motorbike of doom (apologies for the mixed metaphors) it hit me like a ton of bricks.
But then, ten minutes after disaster struck the MinHoYoung, we had group hugs, a new ship-chant, some solidarity-dabbing, Ha Seok-jin sending finger-hearts, discussions about waffles v cotton candy, top-Giffing, cookies, more waffles and more hugs. And within half an hour I was laughing my head off.
I have no regrets about boarding our little ship, whatever strange harbour she might arrive at.
The best thing about A Poem A Day? All the people writing and posting poetry, including those people who confessed to never having written one in their life. Maybe all of us will remember how good it feels to do it, especially in times of strong emotions (like whenever you watch kdrama!)
Beanies are the best - even if we take our love for our dramas and characters to the edge of craziness at times. At least we're all in this craziness together.

Grand Prince: if you made it to episode 14, you are in luck. It gets better and better... I can't help but have high expectations for the finale this weekend. Basically (no spoilers), Hwi has finally realised what he needs to do and the showdown between the brothers is on.

wow! Last I saw ep 10 where the entire marriage party was slayed & I was so shook I stopped watching like why did Hwi have to go through so much?!
I'm glad the tables are slowly turning around now & Hwi's taking charge.

I dropped That Man, Oh Soo too and I only watch 1 episode of Grand Prince.
I'm watching Switch rn, the cons are still alive and they haven't caught Grizzly. JGS is doing a great job playing two characters or maybe three --- Sa Do Chan, Baek Joon Soo then Sa Do Chan as Baek Joon Soo.

That Man Oh Soo - Usual k-drama crappy ending (but then the drama itself was never above average). We get some of the usual k-drama tropes, including self induced amnesia (H drinks potion to forget h as the tree curse will cause her to die if he loves her) and a time jump. After the time jump H and h meet and we the audience are left to wonder: did he get his memory back (I don't know and I don't care) and will the curse reactivate and kill the h (I don't know and don't care). So in the end an open ending.

OT Week 65! Happy Weekend, Beanies! What an eventful drama week, right? It was an eventful week for our family in general, with end of school-year happenings, weekend road trips (going out of state this weekend and last weekend), and lastnight, had my Free the Kimchi ladies over. Oh, my, I havenāt laughed so hard in agesālike belly-hurting, crying, not caring, laughing! One of them brought over a ābeauty deviceā that we all tried and couldnāt keep our giggles restrained. Anyway, Iāll get it on the blog sometime this weekend. Only one more episode of Goblin left! We also had several visitors sharing this episode with us, which is where all the lovey-dovey feels happen, so a good episode to just walk into. There were a couple teenagers, and an twenty-something guy visiting from Austria, and they all were so getting into the show, I was a little surprised, but elated at the same time!
And as for other dramas, Iām still in happy disbelief with the developments on You Who Forgot Poetry. But still firmly on the island as to not get my hopes up and heart broken. I do think this last episode and this next episode are fan service episodes for the Ye-line shippers, sorry to say, and that Bo-young ends up with Min-ho for the last two. Call it k-drama intuition. And is it weird that all the emotional beats for me came from the Nam-woo flashback last episode? Like, I havenāt really connected on an emotional level to any of the characters until last week, and I was all-in the Nam-woo ship. He better get his happy ending. Iām more invested in him than the other two leads.
And Pretty Noona better end well too. This show has everything I didnāt know I wanted in a k-drama. Itās so real and good, and I have no adjectives to describe it. Joon-hee is all kinds of swoon-worthy and Iām just like Jin-ah with his every look, action, touch. Just all of it. I have episode 10 to finish, but goodness, this is how life happens. Iāve lived through family dissentions on a potential mate (being the unni to the couple), and the fall-out is real, but so is the support and love.
And Iām enjoying @modernflapperās gifs for A Love So Beautiful because it seems that we are on the same episodes for this one. Loving this coming-of-age story too! And what? He becomes a surgeon? I had no idea until the music video she posted. In real life, I really donāt like surgeons, and never sought to date any of them, but man, in dramas, they are undeniably attractive. *See Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim ;-)
Developments between the math genius and my daughter continue:
Chapter 3:
Really, this chapter is all about me stalking his motherās FB profile.
Me: *Oh, math geniusā mom just posted something, she never posts.*

10 minutes later, Me: *That was a great video his dad posted of his six years of soccer. I need to show the daughter was a jock he isā¦wait, this is wrongā¦I wonāt say anything.*
Later that day, Me after picking up the kids: How was your day?

SPRING 2018 ANIME CORNER
So the new season of anime is in full swing and there are a few that I'm liking quite a bit at the moment.
MEGALOBOX
Synopsis: "To be quiet and do as you're told, that's the cowardly choice." These are the words of Junk Dog, an underground fighter of Megalo Box, an evolution of boxing that utilizes mechanical limbs known as Gear to enhance the speed and power of its users. Despite the young man's brimming potential as a boxer, the illegal nature of his participation forces him to make a living off of throwing matches as dictated by his boss Gansaku Nanbu. However, this all changes when the Megalo Box champion Yuuri enters his shabby ring under the guise of just another challenger. Taken out in a single round, Junk Dog is left with a challenge: "If you're serious about fighting me again, then fight your way up to me and my ring."
Filled with overwhelming excitement and backed by the criminal syndicate responsible for his thrown matches, Junk Dog enters Megalonia: a world-spanning tournament that will decide the strongest Megalo Boxer of them all. Having no name of his own, he takes on the moniker of "Joe" as he begins his climb from the very bottom of the ranked list of fighters. With only three months left to qualify, Joe must face off against opponents the likes of which he has never fought in order to meet the challenge of his rival. (MyAnimeList).
My brief take: The art direction in this drama never ceases to amaze me. There's an awesome nostalgic feel to it that presents something different in a time where really bad CGI and naturalistic art tends to be the craze. The story's not bad either. Well paced. You should definitely check it out if you're a boxing fan.
You can check out the trailer here.
HINAMATSURI
Synopsis: One night, a strange object falls on the head of Nitta, a member of the yakuza. Inside the box is a strange young girl named Hina. She has tremendous supernatural powers, and Nitta finds himself reluctantly taking her in. Her powers can come in handy for his yakuza business, but he also runs the risk of her using them on him! Not to mention, if she doesn't use her powers, she will eventually go berserk and destroy everything around her. Nitta and Hina's strange life together is just beginning... (MyDramaList).
My brief take: This drama is a mix of funny, odd, and heartwarming. Watching Nitta take care of Hina provides for a lot of "awe" moments.
You can check out the trailer here.
Golden Kamuy
Synopsis: In Hokkaido, the far northern lands of Japan, Sugimoto survived the Russo-Japanese war of the Meiji era. Nicknamed "Sugimoto the Immortal" during the war, he now seeks the riches promised by the gold rush in hopes of...

...saving the widowed wife of his now deceased comrade from the war. During his hunt of gold, he finds hints of a hidden stash of gold by corrupt criminals. Partnering with an Ainu girl that saves his life from the harsh climates of the north, they venture into a survival adventure to race against the criminals that seek the hidden stash. (MyDramaList).
My Brief Take: Such a weird drama. There are some serious moments. There are some cute moments. There are some dark moments. There are some funny moments. I'm really liking the story thus far though and the odd pairing of the two leads. The premise is also quite different.
You can check out the trailer here.

Yes to both. It is an "on air" anime in Japan, so no dub yet. Just good old subs. A heads up. It can get violent and gory at times, but not gratuitously so. It has an post war setting. The violence lends itself to an interesting dynamic between the two leads.

Seeing as there is some interest, I'm thinking about doing this about three times per season. One during the second week of premiers. The second, midway through the season. The last at the end of the season.
I used to be into anime a lot more when I was younger. Stopped watching as much about 6/7 years ago. Now I just watch 2-4 anime per season and not necessarily every season.

To help you fill what you may have missed in that two year gap:
[1] Yuri!!! On Ice. Probably one of the few animes I've genuinely enjoyed in a loooong time. There is a lot of hype about it, but I think the hype is well warranted.
[2] Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma. Drawn food never looked so good. If you love food, give this a try. There a lot more to it than just cooking food though. Ah, I need to catch up on this.
Actually, I'll just leave you with those two. There are tons of other, probably better recommendations, but I think these should be. If can't find them, let me know and I'll help you.

So far I'm enjoying Hinamatsuri, it's unique and hilarious. About Golden Kamuy, I only watched 1st episode, it's entertaining but also heavy, I might need more time to continue.
Another anime I'm following this season is Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori, very relaxing and slice of life anime is my favourite. The cafe is so comfy and homey, the foods and drinks and desserts look so good (despite in anime), there's a cute fat cat and the owner of the restaurant is crazy cat guy, I'm in! XD
Also following Amanchu S2 and Hoozuki no Reitetsu S2 2nd Arc. Both seems to slow down in terms of plot but still fun.

That it is indeed! I think the oddest thing about it is that it's deceptive in it's presentation. By that I mean, the issues that arise are much deeper than they might appear at first, and I love it.
Re: Golden Kamuy, the first episode is indeed heavy but it lightens up a ton after that. It's still has heavy issues and violence, but it's evened about by the relationship between the two leads.
Re: Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori, I watched the first 5 or so minutes and stopped. It's not my style, however, give how much you like it, I might give it a second chance. Do you like Food Wars! btw?
Re: Amanchu, I didn't really get into the first season at all. Don't think I got past the second episode. I would watch those types of anime as a live action as opposed to an anime.
Will check out Hoozuki no Reitetsu. Looks interesting.

@HInamatsuri, the issues that arise are much deeper than they might appear at first
Yep, and they manage to make it wacky and at times heart-warming. I get a strong vibe of Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon from this anime
@Golden Kamuy, the first episode is indeed heavy but it lightens up a ton after that
Ohhh, glad to hear that, perhaps I should resume watching it this week.
@Rokuhoudou, I couldn't finish 1st episode too, but I checked episode 2 and found it okay enough, and I think episode 4 convinced me, because cats, so yeah. XD
@Amanchu, this is a really slow anime, it can be too frustrating sometimes, and this coming from me who is a fan of SOL genre, but then there's a lack of SOL this season compared to winter, so I decided to just keep watching it.
@Hoozuki, 1st season is good, s2 is okay, but this current one not so much, it lacks the cynical and dead-pan humor that I liked in s1 so much.
I have yet to watch Food Wars, because my lil bro warned me that the reaction by the characters can be too extreme, is he bluffing? Is it good?

Haha, last week I wrote that I wasn't gonna complain about them taking a week off because had I read that they were super exhausted (partly because My Ajusshi has a lot more scenes shot at night than most dramas). But then I had a stressful week and forgot about them taking a break, and I was SO disappointed when I didn't get my fix on Weds. I survived though, and I am glad that they're taking care of themselves. They're obviously giving this drama their all- I'm blown away by the quality of it.

The other day I fully realized just how many scenes are at night. I thought..wow the filming must be tougher than the typical drama. And bam! they announced the week hiatus. The night scene consistency is definitely one of the show's trademarks. In a way it makes every relationship and individuals' life more intimate because we see these people during their 'behind the scenes' time. We see them carry out their lives throughout the day but when it turns dark it seems like its when we can see their true selves.
Okay I got carried away. Sorry. š

Only have one drama, Pretty Noona - Something in the Rain and it feels like something in the rain, not important as much as the rain.
The theme is interesting, the setting make up a realistic social issue but it feels like the heroine is just another damsel in distress who supposedly older and know a lot but turn into this innocent like girl who always needs the dongsaeng.
I catch up to Great Seducer (not necessarily a good counterpoint) with 1.5 speed and the heroine in this drama, character-wise is so much better. She is good at school, make up her own decision, including a break-up or move on, forgive or not, confronting her feeling or keep the mystery.
It feels something in the rain has anything except realism in the romance, it's all fantasy and the heroine is meek despite being older, they can't use words to explain anything while another drama that bashed surprisingly has a better character for a heroine that actually said what her minds, even if she still can't decide.
I am not saying it's bad but it's not amazing, it kinda like fantasy bait,
a 5 yeard old successful younger man wants you and who actually want to reject that?

not saying you have to check or praise great seducer either, it just the reception for a drama usually overshadow the good and the bad that it has,
in something in the rain, the fantasy bait blinded people to give the undeserving phenomenal review,
in great seducer, despite all the problem, the heroine isn't something that makes the drama bad.

ćSomething in the Rainļ¼ you are right, the heroine is meek. Maybe her mom is too headstrong so she thought that it is better for her to behave like her dad towards her mom. I hope that she stands firm against her mom.
Her mom is something else. Even my mother did not act like her when I decided to marry my younger foreigner BF(my husband). Back then marrying a foreigner was no go in my country. In my parents view, the only women who dared to marry foreigners were prostitutes right after the war. With their firm prejudice such as this, my mother was clearly against us but she did not make a big scene against us. I still remember that my father told me that when I might need his help when things get tough between my husband and I, probably he would not around us and thinking of this scenario hurt him. He expected that our marriage would hit a rock and no one would help me. Anyone whose daughter marry a younger man or a much older man, a foreigner etc where her situation is not norm, her parents are bound to get worried for their daughter irregardless of their age and I understand it fully given my situation. But her mother is a loose canon!ćHave some manner please, Mother! One might be right to say that she does all those crazy things because she cares for her daughter but I can see that she thinks her daughter can be easily manipulated by her for her own merit (ie. wanting her daughter to marry a well off man so that he might eventually support her family)

it became apparent in that last episode that the mom's issue about Joon Hee is HIS FATHER and his philandering ways... i totally forgot about him dumping the two siblings and running off with another woman and starting another familly.
okay, now her venom/objections make more sense -- but it is still not okay, just saying... she worried that those half-siblings will be a problem for Jin Ah someday, right?
i felt terrible for his sister, Kyung Sun when she realized how Jin Ah's mother REALLY felt about their family, as if the father taints their being, as well. such prejudice is so hypocritical of her, saying the two of them are like her own children -- yet, their father is DIRT, so that Joon Hee is objectionable as a partner to her daughter...

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well today!
Even though I'm not watching You Who Forgot Poetry, I've certainly been enjoying all the Beanie poems, the shipping situation and the island navigation! The Beanies are awesome!
This week:
Should We Kiss First? - 2 more episodes to go. I never really got around to liking Soon-jin's ex-husband with all his meddling and whatnot. In the episodes I watched this week, he slaps her!! Completely and totally uncalled for and inappropriate!
Switch - When this started I asked if this would be the first Jang Geun-seok drama I would stick with given that I've tried all his previous dramas, only to drop them because I didn't find him interesting. The answer is definitely yes!
Suits - Never watched the original series this is based on so I've gone into this show with no preconceived ideas. So far, I'm liking this. Looking forward to seeing how the two protagonists navigate their way through baddies, the legal world and perhaps, friendship.
The Wrong Mans (Season2) - This season finally got funny. The guys go through another cycle of mistaken identity and get busted out of jail by baddies who mistake them for chemical experts.
That's all for now. ...... Take care everyone and have a great Friday!

But considering how quick Homewrecker wife #2 was to beat him up early in the show, I can't help but wonder if he became a pugilist by osmosis. They are one of the most unpleasant Kdrama couples I've encountered to date.
Like you, I did not watch the original American production of SUITS. I'm enjoying the Korean remake so far. At times, boss lady reminds me of Shirley Schmidt of BOSTON LEGAL. ;-)
