I actually had the opposite opinion on HJE's performance in the Undateables, I thought she was overacting too much? I agree that her performance in KMHM and even She Was Pretty were Great, but I dropped this drama bc of her acting

After watching a couple of episodes of this, I can see what you're talking about. Her character does seem a little stiff in certain scenes, although I'd say not in others so she comes across as inconsistent. I don't really know what to attribute it to, other than perhaps the director's instructions and/or the way her character is written.

I know her character is presented as someone who had that bad breakup so I can understand if she has some trepidation in getting so emotionally involved with someone again. That breakup was so long ago, but at times it seems she never really got over how it all happened. I have seen Hwang Jeung-eum in many other dramas and she can commit to a character so who knows what's going on.

On a different note, your comment, "If he turns up the charm any higher Junho will appear on set" made me laugh! Too funny! :)

This is just my opinion, but I've always felt that her kiss scenes are awkward in all the series I've watched of hers, be it KMHM or SWP. It stands out more because the ML will be fully into the moment whereas she doesn't even move her mouth. It's the same case in undateables as well.

The Undateables/Handsome Guy and Jung-eum is my first exposure to Hwang Jung-eum and I attributed her romantic coolness to her character's past heartbreak. Since the breakup happened the same day her mother died, it was likely the worst day of her life. Although Hoon-nam had asked to date her, there were no expressions of “love” between them.

Let’s see what happens in the second half of the series, now that the OTP has reconciled and revealed their vulnerabilities. It will be a shame if she doesn’t warm up—she might need more practice to separate her acting from her family life.

I guess I've never thought of her kissing scenes, well I guess that says it right there, except for her partners cause she has had some good ones. My first thought is also related to her husband, she's worked with Namgoong min before on Can You Hear My Heart for 30 ep as her husband is a non actor maybe he has issues with their perceived closeness since they had ties before he even met her. But maybe I'm not giving him enough credit.

I find her unlikable in almost everything she's been in, but I agree that she had more chemistry with her costars in the past, which made her shrieky, over the top performances tolerable. I actually think she's better in this one, despite lacking chemistry with Namgoong Min. BTW, the Junho comment CRACKED ME UP. Love him. And them. <3 <3 <3

You know what, I'm dying to see Hwang Jung-eum in a melodrama again. I've seen her in romantic-comedy after the next, and always feel like she's playing the same person. She was haunting in Secret. Yes, she overacts, and that was perfect for a character who had been COMPLETELY screwed over by the world. I want to know if that was just a fluke, or if melodrama is actually where most of her talent lies.

She has been in some really good dramas in the past "Giant" (2010), "Golden Time" (2012) "Secret"(2013).
She does her overacting with rom.coms.

Personaly, I like how they look natural. They look beautiful but with some small flaw. I think j-dramas have a simplicity that I love (no expensive clothes, no perfect face, etc.)

I have the opposite reaction for eyebrows. Recently I saw a C-drama actor with more natural looking eyebrows (couple strands daring to exist outside the lines) and I felt strangely relieved. For me it is especially striking to see Hwarang-level of eyebrow grooming in historical dramas.

One thing I've noticed when watching dramas from Japan, Korea and China is that the men have vastly different hairstyles. The hairstyle for Japanese men seems to stay almost the same for the longest I can remember, am I right?

I'm pretty sure Japanese actors get considerably less plastic surgery. I like seeing more unique faces (like, I'm never going to mistake anyone for Ishihara Satomi), since sometimes I'll look at a Korean singer or something and think they look identical to a thousand other boys. Having such narrow beauty standards causes those kinds of problems.

(I agree with you about teeth. I have a thing about teeth.)

It's funny but I have the opposite reaction, especially to British shows versus American shows. British actors get to act without having to have face lifts and braces. I kind of like it.

I do not get your point with the Japanese teeth issue. It costs nearly or over 10K to do orthodontics job done here in Japan and many orthodontics practice do not offer easy installments with credit cards unlike American practice. Each dentist visit is charged extra of 30-50 dollars along with 10K . So I bet talent or actors agencies here in Japan are not that willing to commit that kind of sum for new comer actors.( and it takes more than three years to finish all the process in Japan)
Since America brought in this trend that everyone should have pure white and straightened teeth, lives of mothers in Japan such as I have extra financial burden for our kids. My daughter hates her teeth because unlike those American(mainly American, I guess) actresses/actors, her teeth were uneven and not attractive. She even cried over her teeth many times. My American husband refused to listen to her saying that her teeth are not in bad shape. He believes that having white and straightened teeth is a new thing and he does not like the new trend at all( a conspiracy by dentists, according to my husband!). But I finally gave in after so many her pleas. Please please do not impose on or fuss over teeth so much.
One might find not so straight teeth a flaw but for others it might be a charm.

I see fake boobs, fake double eyelids, face chin etc etc in KDrama enough, I sometimes prefer natural looking guys even with not perfect teeth because WE ARE HUMAN!!

I actually detest someone like Park Ming Young because she is so plastic ( her eyes, nose, chin and her boob etc)and I feels that she always wants to show herself pretty so that every act of hers seems calculated to make her look pretty. Her artificial prettiness does not last unless she continue putting more cosmetic surgeries then she would look so unnatural as she gets older. Her look makes Park Seo Joon look much more human with crinkled smile over his nose. That is a blessing on PSJ's side.

I saw that 30 but 17 is coming on Viki in a couple of weeks and I'm weirdly interesting the premise: a woman has been in a coma for 13 years wakes up and suddenly finds herself to be 30. Her body has grown older but of course her mind hasn't changed from when she was a seventeen-year-old.

I think a lot of us know what that feels like?

it's the only one of the upcoming dramas that will air in my region I like Shin Hye-sun and Yang Se-jong, so I'll check it out.

They just told us the dates which were 19 to 21. So our teachers assumed that 19 would be arrival and registration. We contacted them over and over to tell us the timings because we had to book our flights and they made the excuse that they do not send the timings when reality the gentleman responsible for inviting us had made a mistake and forgotten to give us the timings. We were arriving on 19th at 2 pm and the quiz was starting at 4 (they told us this when we told them our date of arrival). Then our flight got delayed by 1 hour and we could not make it on time. I was so upset. I almost started crying when I called my mother to tell her that we missed the quiz. It was not expected from a school where my country's chiefs of armed forces have studied

I am still watching Legend of Fuyao and it has enough fun tropes to make me want to keep watching, but now almost a third of the way through, the little sloppiness in writing and production make me believe that this drama will never be one of the great unforgettable fantasy dramas like Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. Also so much cringy instead of swoony cheese i.e. bedroom ballet and bathtub dive!

However, after getting to my time of life, a day in itself is great as an occasion, but actually there's the whole year to celebrate in and other ways of doing so (am I just comforting myself???) 😉 so it's not an issue to me.

1. During the run of SUITS Lawyer Choi Kang-seok (Jang Dong-gun) purchased a Tag Heuer watch as a gift for his assistant Lawyer Go Yeon-woo (Park Hyung-sik). To get an idea of the cost I searched on Amazon the TH watch model I think was purchased. Anyway I am still getting these offers from Amazon for $1200 TH watches. I don't think so. Who do they think I am, PHS? (After SUITS PHS is a favorite btw.);
2. I think one of the better PPL recently was the use of CHEVY automobiles in LAWLESS LAWYER; and the questions

After Strong Woman Do Bong Soon I was sorely tempted to buy Royce Chocolate! Has anyone tried it? It looked divine!

I've never bought any k-PPL products. Never even been tempted. I haven't even been to a Subway since before I started watching kdramas.

The only PPL-y product I have is Parker ball-point pens, but I bought them before I started watching kdramas. My reaction to their PPL in School 2015 was that I like the all-stainless ones I have more than the half-plastic ones in the show.

All I know is every time I look at that model and the chocolate--all I think is how thats not how you eat a kitkat bar. And then I wonder if he's eating this chocolate candy with the squares wrong.
