Park Shi-hoo lines up next drama with TV Chosun’s Babel

This is pretty quick turnaround, but Park Shi-hoo is reportedly lining up his next project after recently wrapping on his recent KBS drama Lovely Horribly. The new drama will be a drama on TV Chosun titled Babel, a passionate mystery melodrama that centers around a wrongful death and revenge.

Park is set to play a prosecutor who started out as a newspaper reporter, whose personality is described as fiery and hot-tempered. He grew up in a comfortable life, but one day his family is shattered when his father dies in an accident whose cause is unclear, and his mother takes her own life. When he finds out that his father’s bankruptcy and death are connected to a conglomerate, he begins his mission to uncover the truth and get revenge.

The plot also features our prosecutor marrying a chaebol as part of his revenge plan, and a top star whose life is ruined as a result. The drama will reveal the greedy true face and ruin of the chaebol family amidst murder and strife and promises mystery and thrills.

The story does sound like the kind of thing that usually grabs my interest; it’s got elements of dramas I’ve really enjoyed, such as Story of a Man (which this PD, Yoon Sung-shik, also directed, along with Hwarang and Gaksital). Plus, I’m always up for a badass revenge story (my main complaint about revenge stories is that so many dramas lose their bite by the end, which leaves my bloodlust unsatisfied). The Park Shi-hoo factor does keep me at arm’s length, though it seems his career has rebounded fairly well, largely thanks to the massive weekend drama hit that was My Golden Life.

The drama will premiere on TV Chosun in December.

No one cares about human rights. Its all a struggle to grab s much power and as much resources you can.
#MeToo is just a temporary fad or trend and it will soon pass unless society introspect and brings changes.

@kiara its quite difficult to change someone's views. In this fast pace world no one has time to remember someone's past. Good PR whitewash everything you did earlier. When you can see horrible candidates easily winning elections and getting support of from people then his act turns into minor annoyance. Whether we believe it or not, He is generating money for his agency.

This man sure keeps on getting new offers. I expected after Lovely horribly being underrated he won't get opportunity for time being but again I'm proven wrong.
The premise is awesome and if I leave about the shameful act done by him his acting will be awesome in Babble as he has really acted well in revenge dramas. Duhhhh!! Still can't watch the drama even if it's damn captivating.

It's interesting how he keeps getting offers, maybe he agreed to get pay less as long as he get the roles, or despite of his scandal, he is also known among the directors for being professional and not being picky in his works. Maybe.

LOL. Otherwise I can't really think how on earth he easily get offers, he wasn't even among A-listed or very popular either prior to his scandal. From My Golden Life, Lovely Horribly and now this - he is working non-stop.

He comes from a chaebol family so it's more important for him to clean up his image than to earn what he normally would get paid for before the scandal.

It's a win win for him and the production.

Ugh, I have forgotten that he comes from chaebol family - money is not a problem for him.

He doesn't come from a chaebol family. His father Park Yong-hoon used to be a fashion and commercial model in the 1960s and 1970s.

Park SiHoo began his acting career in theater in 1997, putting up posters, handing out flyers, and appearing as an extra or in bit parts on stage.

I got this info from wikipedia

In the Men Behaving Badly episode of akdramapodcast, a very good point was made that so far, most of his shows have been KBS shows - My Golden Life, Lovely Horribly. Local Hero was OCN says mydramalist. Anyway, if so, clearly someone is invested in seeing him make a successful return. It seems to be working - this is TV Chosun. Their efforts are slowly paying off.

I have not watched anything with him in it since the allegations. Thankfully, everything he has been in I've not been interested in watching. This will be another pass.

Well, I didn't think JB seemed like the bloodlust type. But yes, some kdramas are a bit toned down in that regard.

Does his character get hit by a Truck of Doom in the first episode and have to go through extensive plastic surgery after that?

At this point I'm willing to pay money for him to NOT get cast in things. 3 dramas in a year?!? It's like we aren't even pretending that there's consequences for male celebrities anymore.

Personally, I have boycotted all Park Shi Hoo dramas. It was really hard to not watch Lovely horribly since it has Song Ji Hyo, who I adooooreee. But what is wrong is wrong and I can't watch and support Park. I just can't accept how kdrama has accepted him back full swing.

I also love Song Jihyo and even like the supporting actors, but we need to make a choice because we do have a choice regarding whether he would keep getting roles.

You who sit in the judgment seat...are u so sure that you are free of sin yourself?

I’m not a fan of Park Shi Hoo but it galls me that everyone is so condemning. Neither you nor I were there to know what exactly went down in the incident. Nor do we know what happened in the aftermath. What is common knowledge is only what the media reported and that in itself should be taken with a grain of salt.

He will face constant judgment, condemnation and disgust for the rest of his days. Being tried in the court of public opinion is something he will have to endure so long as he chooses to follow the acting profession.

It’s one thing if he is in constant scandals and keep having the same allegations surfacing. He has kept his nose clean and paid the price with his reputation.

Let the man be judged by his actions in the future and by his acting skills.

We are just spectators with blinkers on, never knowing the entire truth at any given time. Making assumptions as if you are privy to both parties stories....uhm, yeah.

Oh and before I get torn into, I know what I’m speaking of because my daughter underwent a traumatic experience and had people coming after her as if she was the perpetrator and not the victim all because everyone was mislead by the information they got from one party involved. So, it taught me a valuable life lesson.

I’ll watch his dramas same as everyone else’s and judge him for his showmanship. No more and no less.

You make it sound like it's so hard not to be a sexual predator, but no, I've never been a sexual predator and it's not hard for me at all. So yes, I can judge him, shun him, and so do most people.

You spoke like you are the one who relies on the media and not police evidence. CCTV footage of the victim being carried on his friend's back showed that she was intoxicated and in no condition to consent. Just because the victim may have had motivation for revenge or monetary compensation do not negate the fact the Park Shihoo is a rapist and got off the hook because the law sucks. Park Shihoo was never unduly punished and he never got the punishment he deserves either. He's getting roles left and right and he is no victim.

If you watch him, that's on you.

I love your comment and your view in life....’Not to judge or condemn things we are not sure about’. We will never know what went down for sure. The only two that knew were the insiders. For those who believe in God/Allah...etc, any wrong acts will be judged by God. For those who don’t believe in God, there’s the law of karma. So, no one is getting away with anything and words can hurt or ruin a reputation greatly. So, therefore, I do not like to condemn things where I’m not sure about. We all have made mistakes and regretted things. Who hadn’t? I’d like to look at the beauty of the whole wall, rather than just focus on one or two bad bricks.

I don't understand why so many people wrote bad comments for PSH's case really like they see the events directly. In my opinion this is very unfair because:

1. We do not witness the event directly. The news that we read or hear is not necessarily 100% correct. everything has two sides, good and bad, right and wrong

2. What if the news turns out wrong? For us, writing a few lines of bad comments is very easy, but for others who receive bad comments it might be a death sentence for them.

Remember the story in Korean drama Pinocchio (main actor Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye). One family was destroyed just because the distorted news plus bad comments from the public. So if we don't see the event directly it's better to keep quiet. In this world there is good karma and bad karma. Let God punish those who hurt other

PS: I’m a viewer. He’s an actor. I’m going to judge him on his works. His personal life is none of my business.
