I'm still feeling a slump from DramaFever's shut down ... speaking of which, someone on ONTD said they received a $1 refund from them in their checking account but no email about it. I haven't heard anything and had an annual subscription I paid in July - so I thought I should be getting like $30 or so back at least. What about you guys, heard anything or got any refunds? Other than Accidentally in Love (which I'm still working on) I haven't watched any Asian dramas in the last 2 weeks.

So, I recently discovered that CJ E&M, which was earlier sued because of the Drinking Solo PD, has done damage again.
They didn't pay the workers of “The Player” and “The Guest” for extra work. One of The Player workers even fainted.
And also Room nr.9 and The Priest are forcing the workers to work extra hours.

Behind the scenes stuff like this makes me watch the dramas in a different and worse light :(

Happy Friday, Beanies! There was a seasonal clock change in our country (well, in most EU countries) and I just don’t see the point of it anymore. I feel like it does affect me mentally. I’ve always been curious about people who live even northern than me. The sunset in my county is around 4 pm in the winter which is so depressing. I can’t even imagine how people live in Nordic countries, I read people have metal problems because of lack of sunlight.

Hello beanies! I recently left a job that wasn’t for me and I have never felt this liberated!! But I am again in the lookout for a job so I am hoping I don’t loiter around in the house for far too long. So please keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

I also celebrated my 12th wedding anniversary this week :) We were married when we were just 23 years old and have known each other since we were on the 3rd grade! It has been a good run so far 😊

OT week 90! I have a special announcement today! On Saturday, November 10th we will be having a Beanie wedding! It’s high time we had some organized squeeing on the Beanie fan wall. After a couple false starts, I’ve made myself the unofficial Beanie wedding planner, and we are finally having Lee Min Ki’s official unofficial wedding to our own Beanie, @mindy, with all the embarrassment that may entail!!! EVERYONE is invited and we hope all your “plus one” oppas are able to attend as well! So get your favorite Min-ki gifs ready, kpop playlists, ballads and sonnets, wedding gifts, etcetera! We still need a few things before the big day, namely an officiant to perform the wedding! (I know there are some lawyers lurking around here, any justices of the peace, chaplains, priests, rabbis?) And there will be a Rabb.it community watch at 8 pm GMT for Dal-ja’s Spring! Come join the festivities! It should be a roaring good time (and someone has pretty much convinced mindy to watch at least two episodes of The Beauty Inside to support her “fiancé” in the meantime)!

My mom goes back home today, but did buy a house while she was here, and we were able to watch Splish Splash Love the last 2 evenings. This was a re-watch for me, and it still hit all the right spots. It’s so good. (Then my son had to enlighten me about messing with historical timelines and creating paradoxes in that girl’s future.) After watching this the first time, I thought that I should watch Tree with Deep Roots, but after watching it this time, I think that I should re-watch “Radio Romance,” or try to go back and finish “Let’s Eat.” My Doo-joon withdrawal is real. But looking forward to Highlight’s new mini-album, where apparently, he will have a solo track! I’m looking forward to having mom here to watch more kdramas with too!

Dancing High Youtube clips were all I could catch this past week. And I’m planning on going back and watching the entirety of episode 8 this week. But it was enough to keep my Highlight love alive, with Gikwang being adorable and so excited for his teenagers.

Last Saturday I spent 6 hours at a math competition with the daughter.

Math Genius: We would have gotten first if the team we put together was the team that competed, with me, Chinese boy, and your daughter.

Me: Oh, I’m sure the teacher had a reason for splitting you guys apart. The other girls have never done this so daughter had to be on that team to help them.

Math Genius: Yeah, but we would have won.

Math Genius’ mom: [to my daughter] You did amazing, honey, you should be proud of yourself. *Gives daughter a great big hug]* [Then to me out of ear shot] Math genius says he likes your daughter.

Moral of the Story: We are so in.
2nd Moral: More family kdrama...

After watching Fluttering Warning (Yoon Eun-hye new drama), I feel sorry for everyone involved in that drama 😂
It's so embarrassing.

Happy weekend Beanies!

Yesterday and today are public holidays over here, so I am home and able to comment on OT! :D

It also enables me to finally catch up on paperwork, my Korean lessons and cleaning before the weekend. This Saturday I have work in the morning, and in the afternoon my best friend from Korean class comes over to help me prepare. We are throwing our very late birthday party together at my place in the evening and she is cooking Korean for our mutual friends for the first time! As far as I am aware she is preparing onigiri (Japanese okay, but yummy), kimbap, japchae and seaweed soup. I am especially looking forward to trying the latter. ;)

Sunday will be for cleaning up and packing for the next weekend. Next Friday I will not be on OT, because I will be in London with the same friend, attending the solo concert from Ravi from VIXX as VIP, which means we get to meet him before the concert and receive many goodies! I am so excited! Earlier this year we failed to get tickets for BTS in Europe, but for less money Ravi will offer us a lot more, so I am really looking forward to my own holiday weekend of 2018. :D

I also am looking forward to the post-concert days. It has been a quite hectic and stressful period, arranging everything after work, and I really want to return to my peaceful K-drama evenings ;).

Beanies, I finally finished Father Is Strange yesterday! And it was such a satisfying, heart warming ending where the audience gets everything we wanted. I even got a couple of things I didn’t know I wanted, like the background bromance of Actor Ahn and all the brothers/inlaws. Also that surprising reminder that Lee Joon is on the short side as he stands at with his arm hooked onto one of his at least half a head taller brothers in law.

Unni becoming a public defender begs a sequel where she is the bad ass neighborhood lawyer. I need more female characters like her in my drama life.

This whole family will have a place in my heart for a long time, from Grandma to doting parents to the fierce sisters with their devoted men, to even uri tall marshmallow hyung and his deceptive wife (who had some of the best character growth of this whole show, from villain to playing victim to penitent to sassy caring sister in law whom I now love whole heartedly).

And, if the first paragraph wasn’t an indication, I’ve fallen for Lee Joon again. His surprisingly high pitched laugh, his spinning, his cuddliness with his chosen brothers on the show, his wonderful chemistry with real life girlfriend Jung So Min, and the sincerity in his acting.

To the whole cast and crew of Father is Strange, wherever they might be, Fighting!

Does Drama Slump = Less Time on Dramabeans?

I had a very busy week and lots of things happening in RL but they can't really explain why I spend less time on DB. I guess it's because of the kdrama slump that I'm in. Even if I browse through the fanwall posts and comments on the 1st page, I can't relate to them much because I am not watching any kdrama.

It's been two weeks and the only thing I am watching is C-drama Ashes of Love. How I wish I can talk more about it on a blog like this!

In the family, 3 of us celebrated birthdays this last week, with 1 other getting in an early celebration for his November birthday. And what did we do for so many birthdays? We had joint celebrations which were the quietest, simple family meals together, twice. Once at a noodle restaurant (Taiwan style noodles with side dishes, very yummy) and once at home. For the noodle meal, we literally went out, ate and went home, with no one in the restaurant any the wiser that, that was a BIG birthday lunch. Every family member was extremely pleased with that arrangement, since no one wanted to draw public attention, and home is where the heart(s) and computer games are.

As for the home meal, given a choice, the son's idea of a good time was to just chill at home and have his favourite salt-baked chicken (x2). So everyone remained happily lazy, except the mother who had to go out to get two chickens, (they don't deliver). The timing to get the fowls was crucial. Too early and they'd not have arrived at the food outlet. Too late and there would be none left. 😨 I'm happy to report that I got the timing just right and was home tenderly microwaving those birds in time for an early lunch. 😋

And how about the cake (I seem to hear you ask)? That was a touch and go thing, since the birthday girl wanted a specific cake and only she knew which cake shop it came from. Since she was busy, we never knew if she'd bring cake home one day. Well, she did manage it on her actual birthday, so we did the kdrama thing of putting on candles and singing the song... except that we added lots of photo taking - of the cake, not the people!!! It was fun, although the weird logic of the frugal child resulted in her getting a big cake, of a flavour she did not like all that much, instead of 2 small cakes of the desired flavour. Why, you ask? Because the 2 small cakes would have been about double the price of the single large cake, and still given us too little to share out. 😆 Kid self-proclaimed coming from a greedy cake eating family, meaning she did not want to share her favourite little cake with the rest of us!! 😜
