Jo Jung-seok considers tvN drama from Answer Me director-writer duo

Jo Jung-seok might still be busy fighting for the common folk in Nokdu Flower, but he’s already courting offers for his next project, and I’m really really hoping he takes this one. The star PD-writer combo that brought us the Answer Me series is reuniting for another outing at tvN and has offered Jo Jung-seok a lead role. The working title of the show is Smart Doctor Living, a play on PD Shin Won-ho’s 2017 hit Smart Prison Living.
There’s not been much that has been released about the show in terms of plot details. But, understandably, there’s a lot of buzz given that PD Shin Won-ho and writer Lee Woo-jung are coming together again for their fourth collaboration after the hugely successful Answer Me series. I’m not sure my heart’s ready for another installment of Answer Me, so I’m pretty happy to see them take on another concept for this show.
I’m honestly a little surprised that Jo Jung-seok has been offered a lead character in the show because this director is famous for casting lesser known actors. But, I’m not at all opposed if he does accept, because I can see Jo Jung-seok fitting right into the heart-tugging dramedy genre that this director-writer duo is so good at.
Smart Doctor Living is expected to air on tvN sometime in the latter half of this year.

I believe it is supposed to run for 3 seasons which is why a veteran actor was chosen.

Oppa and Shin PD in one drama? Say no more, I'm in!
I'm also a bit surprised that they go for an already established drama actor since they usually launched a new fame through their series. But I wouldn't oppose to this collaboration. Besides, they also cast Jung Kyung-ho back then in Prison Playbook. Maybe we can still expect lots of new faces in the ensemble casts.

Can we please have Trash Oppa as one of the casts as well? He's already a doctor in Reply 1994 so it isn't entirely impossible to have his world co-exist with this one. And of course, Michael, coz what is a Shin Won Ho drama without Michael? Go Kyung Pyo is in the army right now so a no go for him.

Yes please! To both. Lol. I'm excited because I loved the Answer Me series and JJS is excellent in anything! If this would be a rom-com or another family-oriented drama I wouldn't complain!

The answer me series was hugely popular and quite nostalgic (Reply 1988 was my personal favorite). I am looking forward to seeing what they will do with a different genre and I am hopeful since it looks like they are attracting talent and they are hat tipping to one of my favorite shows (wise prison life).

It's hard to believe I've never seen any of the Answer me series or Smart Prison Living.
But I love Jo Jung-seok so will no doubt watch this. I really really should watch the Answer me series as I've heard so many good things about them and some of them have some favorite actors.
And how did I not know Jo Jung-seok was in Nokdu Flower!? I was already planning to see this but now I have even more reason!

I love Smart Prison Living. I hope it will be more like SPL than Answer Me series which means there's no 'Who's the husband?' game.

It's good to be Jo Jung-seok. He is amazing on stage, on the big screen and on tv.
He is rocking it in NOKDU. I hope he'll do a movie or musical next. Keeping the momentum in Chungmuro will be good for his career.
